Reviews for Highland Guest House
Review 1:See below. Nothing! Furniture was cheap and bathroom was old and really shabby. Private bathroom was across a corridor. Washbasin in bedroom had no water. Price was exorbitant - £65.00 for a third rate b & b!
Review 2:Very helpful relaxed staff, comfy bed, clean, great location with access to fabulous licenced fish and chips, the best bakery for breakfast and straight onto scottish walks. What's not to like?
Review 3:Rather cramped room (mine was a single). The shower is in the bedroom and the toilet is in a partitioned off section of the room with a sliding door. The washbasin is very small. Initially the wifi didn't work until I persuaded the proprietor to reboot the router.
Review 4:Convenient location. No problem parking, albeit on the street. Single bed was comfortable.
Review 5:Owners were out of town, the cooker wasn't working so breakfast was at the pub next door. 80 year old parents were put in a room two floors up, which wasn't ideal.
Review 6:The location was central
Review 7:We booked on suite and after going up three floors to the top of the building. Our bathroom and toilet was across the small hallway not in the room this is not on suite
Review 8:The location in the town
Review 9:I am a musician myself and it was quite a quirky thing to be notified that breakfast was served. not by a gong ! rather a skirll o the pipes. Also I must say that this man is clearly proud of his military past ,as he should be.
Review 10:No facilities to eat with dog downstairs, unable to eat in room as alternative - were told no facilities for this and had never been asked for this previously.
Review 11:Good location, easy access, good shower
Review 12:At breakfast the proprietor put me on a table for 4 with 3 other guests. As a single traveller this was so much better than being stuck on a table for one. We all had a great chat. Very friendly.
Review 13:Rooms tired looking and quite noisy. Owner quite brusque at times. We were still eating our cereal when the cooked breakfasts were dumped on the table. All very average.
Review 14:Good location
Review 15:Owners not overly friendly, building of some age and needs some tlc.
Review 16:Convenience to shops and restaurants, excellent situation to explore the Loch Lomond area
Review 17:Room 6 has wash basin with no water connected.Bathroom for room 6 is separate and accessed across a corridor and is cramped and uncomfortable to use . Slightly lower price for this room does not reflect good value.
Review 18:It looks like the guest house is undergoing a refurbishment as there were new carpets up to the second floor. We were on the third floor with our two dogs which wasn't refurbished which is fine because with pets in tow you wouldn't expect newly refurbished rooms. The breakfast was good as was the service and the accommodation is situated just off the main street with access to a river walk for the doggies if you turn left out of the guest house. The Riverside pub is very dog friendly, has good food as well as entertainment on a weekend.
Review 19:Our room was substandard. My wife tripped over the rug that was covering cut out carpet. Very hard to wash your hands, never mind your face in tiny washbasin. Bathroom needs revamped as does room. Heating totally inadequate.
Review 20:Cleanliness.
Review 21:Not much water pressure in the shower.
Review 22:Excellent breakfast! Entertaining and very helpful staff in particular the impromptu performances from the musical host, Tom!!
Review 23:This isn't something I didn't like I see it more as a missed opportunity. There is no information pack available which is a shame as there is so much to see and explore in the local area.
Review 24:I enjoyed everything about my stay, the room was clean, comfortable and adequate for a 2 night stay. Good location close to the main street and easy travelling distance (by car) to the Lochs and Trossachs amongst other things. Good choice of local restaurants and bars to suit every taste.
Review 25:the shower was a little cabin in the room, it did work well. The guests next door made a lot of noise in the evening slamming the doors coming in and out of their rooms.
Review 26:comfortable single room with a comfortable bed, shower and toilet in the room and very good wifi. Friendly family owned place on a good location. Very good breakfast and good value for money.
Review 27:Room just has room for the bed, shower and toilet. No table or chairs. We returned to the room around 19:00 as no nightlife nearby appealed to us. Had to sit on bed until bedtime. Small bar/lounge downstairs not very inviting
Review 28:Host attentive and friendly Breakfast food more than adequate and plenty of it Very central
Review 29:Floor a bit uneven with nail pushing up the carpet. No water at wash basin in room.
Review 30:Good breakfast, very helpful lady proprieter, great central location.
Review 31:Tad noisy in the morning due to the petit nature of the house, but slept fine through the night, that's being picky :)
Review 32:Handy, great walks, cycle routes and shops close by, can be a little on the expensive side at some resteraunts around the town but there are some lovely cafés all within 5 min walk away, highlights for me was crags walk round to waterfalls and scones at meadow gardens All in all it was all ye could ask fur really!
Review 33:Didn't like their Scottish breakfast much.
Review 34:The host is a champion musician. Heard him on the clarinet but not the bagpipes. Comfortable place with character.
Review 35:The room could do with updating, the bath panel was warped with water damage, which made it look quite dirty. The room also had a very old carpet, which was hidden by a large rug. We could see the bare bits though! It's the small things that make a difference! Especially for paying guests!
Review 36:Lovely little hotel. Brilliant staff, excellent location, good breakfast. Will be back :)
Review 37:Breakfast times were quite restrictive and the bagpipe wake up call just after 8 meant that a long lie was not an option even although check-out was not until 11am.
Review 38:We really enjoyed staying here, the bed was very comfy and we were not left wanting for anything.
Review 39:our room was very basic and beds not very comfortable. plumbing is extremely noisy.
Review 40:host was extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast good, central location in town
Review 41:Tiny attic room, we had booked a double ,on arrival was told booking.com had made a mistake and booked a twin and that's all that was available ,as we had just driven 470 miles we did not argue, on check out the next morning we asked for the confirmation from booking.com so we could complain to them, when we saw thebooking it clearly stated a double ! We had been blatantly lied to ! No matter what else I would not recommend any property where this happens
Review 42:Comfortable bed, fantastic breakfast, friendly, helpful host. This is a central location to reach many areas of Scotland or a great place for local activities.
Review 43:Bed very uncomfortable to the point we couldn't wait for breakfast. Real shame as everything else was great.
Review 44:Great location, fantastic hosts, breakfast awesome.
Review 45:The hotel was quite dated. The shower was a cubicle in the bedroom. The quality of the room was basic, and the floors creaked a lot, as old buildings do.
Review 46:We did appreciate the decor of the bright tartans, internally, and the outside decor was pleasant. It was close to the Trossachs and to the township for walking. The breakfast was a reasonable standard.
Review 47:Room a bit dated.
Review 48:Location, price and safe cycle parking. Nice food and dining area. No frills in room, which was quite small, but more than adequate and reflected in low price. Would stay here again.
Review 49:I didn't like the bathroom being separate from the room, although we ended up getting it to ourself anyway so not to bad. We didn't receive any sort of welcome pack in the room/ or proper information when we arrived, but the host was always helpful if we asked questions.
Review 50:The view from our room was amazing to wake up to.(we were on the top floor) The bed was so comfy. The host was a treat at breakfast time-funny and welcoming. Playing the bagpipes wasn't as loud/annoying as I was expecting, it was a lovely touch. The location was great, right in the village, and close to lot of hills to walk and the beautiful river running through the village.
Review 51:Guest house was very compact has everything you would need for an overnight stay. Spotlessly clean.
Review 52:Great location in the centre of Callander. Great sized room with good facilities and excellent Wi-Fi.
