Reviews for Bath House Hotel
Review 1:Room needs updating .. Ie mattress protector and pillow protectors needed . Kettle broke and dirty .. Toilet holder broke .. Shelf needed in shower .. Yale lock too close to frame to obtain access
Review 2:Convenient for purpose of my stay
Review 3:The rudest and most unprofessional "reception" ever encountered courtesy of Malcolm; this was a shocking experience. Inexistant free parking. Terrible noise from seagulls, day and night, through the old single glazed sash windows. No shower.
Review 4:Helpful and polite breakfast staff
Review 5:The windows could do with a good clean, couldn't hardly see outside. Towels very shabby need replacing.
Review 6:All the staff were very friendly and gave great customer service. Location and parking excellent.
Review 7:The curtains were not blackout and the sun beamed on your faces in the morning waking you up. You get a fair amount of noise from the road outside. Some type of vehicle drove around at about 5am sounding a fog horn each morning that woke us. The windows did not block any noise out from outside, and seagulls squawking woke us up twice, both nights at 3am and then again at 7am. We were kept awake by creaking floor boards from the third floor in room 205 that kept us awake most nights and on our last night a hotel staff member gave us a wake up call at 7am when we did not request one. We would not stay here again.
Review 8:Bed was comfortable. Friendly staff.
Review 9:Not as clean as I would have expected, dust that hadn't been touched for weeks on the TV stands & carpets needed a good Hoover. also hair in plug hole eauwwwww !!!
Review 10:Great location, very close to tunnels beach
Review 11:not having a proper shower being on the second floor not being provided with biscuits
Review 12:having a family room a good job they had a lift nice clean beds and plenty of clean towels
Review 13:The whole hotel need cleaning outside (a jet wash wouldn't go a miss) and a complete face lift inside, very dated tired looking, breakfast could be much better!!!
Review 14:The staff were friendly, the location was perfect..
Review 15:The windows did not close properly so the sea gull noise was unbearable!
Review 16:The beds were really comfortable, staff friendly and the location was beautiful and very convenient for Tunnels Beaches.
Review 17:Windows very thin so could hear everything outside especially the sea gulls which were so loud. Advertises free parking but no spaces on drive had to go elsewhere
Review 18:Good location to tunnel beaches
Review 19:Toilet on ground floor was in a dangerous location as by a dark stairwell that twists down around the corner, my husband fell and hurt his wrist but could have been far worse (happened mid morning)
Review 20:Great location to tunnel beach for family wedding, good value for money, staff very helpful xx
Review 21:We had a front facing second floor room. Single glazed. The road noise was not excessive but nevertheless there as were the sound of the gulls. There was only very limited parking available at the hotel an nearby public parking charges were extortionate
Review 22:Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Very clean rooms
Review 23:Staff lacking in attention at times. Hotel could do with a few modernising modifications.
Review 24:Clean hotel, lots of character, good location. Car park is handy if they can fit you in. Very friendly staff, helpful...
Review 25:The bathroom didn't have anywhere to put the towels when you were showering or if you were just using the sink. The bathroom was very big and had plenty of room to put a cabinet and towel rails.
Review 26:The location of the hotel was very central staff were very helpful and a good full English breakfast
Review 27:The entrance to the hotel could have been made more homely and welcoming as you couldn't tell which was the front and which was the back. They were just a little tatty.
Review 28:The location was perfect for all facilities the staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were comfy and spacious.
Review 29:The staff were really helpful everywhere, including varying the menu if requested. Even helped me get a parking space. Ideal location, with a lift to upper floors.
Review 30:Having a hand held shower with no shower screen or curtain. Really noisy creaking wardrobe. Some parts of the building are a bit tired looking but The outside of the building is in desperate need of attention
Review 31:Staff were all really friendly and helpful
Review 32:The building itself is dated and does look nice from the outside. There isn't much close by parking.
Review 33:Staff were friendly and the rooms was very comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and we had a lovely time.
Review 34:No information booklet in the room. No menu at breakfast although the staff could tell what was on offer Bar area a strange layout.
Review 35:Staff were very friendly. Room was spacious. Convenient location to centre
Review 36:the entrance steps had not been swept or cleaned, for two nights when I returned to the hotel there was no lighting at the entrance that I had to use, the bed linen and pillows need to be replaced, there was no rail to help you get in and out of the bath/shower. Overall it was a good position for the occasion I was in Ilfracombe for but I wouldn't stay there again and I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone.
Review 37:the breakfast was fair but there was no fresh fruit.
Review 38:Mis-information with car parking - you book with the spec. 'Free Parking' however there is very limited opportunity to park - the website must state 'Limited Free Parking' as it is false information. This is one of the main reasons we chose it yet we had to park on the street. It should also highlight that there is no shower available - we never bath in a hotel so we wouldn't have picked this room if we had known.
Review 39:Friendly staff, facilities ok, tired building structure but kept clean.
Review 40:We know we wouldn't book to stay here again but it's nothing to do with the actual hotel so they can't change this. It's ideal as in centre of Ilfracombe but for us the biggest problem was the Hotel opposite. We were in one of the rooms at the front with the other hotels entrance opposite our window and both nights very loud guests from weddings outside front door smoking and talking/shouting so loud until 4am both nights. We should have asked if they had a room we could have moved to at the back of hotel but we thought the first night was a one off so didn't think the next night would be the same. Other problem was parking. When I Googled position of hotel google shows the car park next door and I thought was the hotels so I should gave checked but again owner told us were to park which was a short distance away. Our age 43-53
Review 41:All staff friendly and helpful. Beds comfy, rooms clean and has everything we needed. There was even more than 2 of each Coffee/tea/milk etc which was one of my pet hates with other hotels as your lucky if you get enough for a couple of drinks. Reason we booked this hotel over another was the price which included breakfast. Breakfast was excellent, Cereals, Juices, Full English etc and every staff member we spoke to was lovely.Staff are a credit to this hotel.
Review 42:Couldn't seem to get on wifi, should have asked at reception.
Review 43:Very comfortable and clean rooms, great location and lovely staff. Would definatley come again and reccomend to others.
Review 44:The shower needed attention, although the water was nice and hot. No shower gel though but loads of shampoo.
Review 45:There was a lift. We liked the clean bed and towels. The room was comfortable, with a good view out the front.
Review 46:Upgrade, expected a sea view just a balcony overlooking the car park - waste of money. Reception at rear of property, anyone could walk in front door!
Review 47:The nearest to the 'tunnels' for a wedding.
Review 48:When ever we stay away from home I am always struck with the hardness of the beds which makes my back ache terribly but this bed was super. Friendly staff, when they found out it was our 45th wedding anniversary they upgraded our rooms, which were very pretty and sparkling clean
Review 49:Breakfast was okay but not a highlight Parking limited and difficult to get out in the morning
Review 50:Location was good. Room was very nicely furnished and bed amazingly comfortable
Review 51:Perhaps the outside of the building lets it down a bit but inside it is well cared for.
Review 52:The hotel inside was modern and clean with touches of luxury like a spa bath and loads of space.
Review 53:A couple of things we had to ask for: towels and toiletries for our room. Nothing major, just an oversight by the busy staff.
Review 54:Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely clean room (suite). Keen to provide vegan & vegetarian breakfasts. Checked out with me, by email, before our stay.
Review 55:The building is in need of refurbishment - for example, the windows in our room (on top floor) were in poor shape. The 'lounge' was not particularly inviting. Breakfast was very traditional B&B breakfast without the wider choice that one expects nowadays. So actually not very good value for money.
Review 56:Right by the Tunnels beach and close to Landmark Theatre. Staff were helpful and friendly. It was warm and comfortable enough and there was hot water for the bath.
Review 57:for me was noisy outside, traffic, seagulls.etc And was so hot in our room and couldn't open a window due to noise. But I suppose that's what you get being situated in town. No wifi in room was a bit of a disappointment, but not a big deal.
Review 58:Location was great for shops, restaurants etc
Review 59:Noise - seagulls don't sleep! Traffic all . night, motor bikes particularly loud we found as in room near the main road traffic lights. Gym downstairs needs a good clean- exercise mats dirty and crumpled up in the corner of room.no ventilation.
Review 60:Location and staff friendly
Review 61:Although staff were polite, their service was not the best and adopted an unhelpful attitude i.e. not wanting to give us a second key for a twin room, not having brown bread at breakfast, having an area cordoned off within the car park and making guests park too close to one another so getting in and out was very difficult.
Review 62:The location was perfect for my stay. Centred in the town and very close, almost next door to The Tunnels where we were attending a wedding.
Review 63:Well - its not the hotels fault at all - but we did discover that seagulls dont sleep. At all. Ever.
Review 64:Very clean, comfortable, good location, and personal service as well. Great location if you are attendeding a wedding at Tunnel's beaches. Easy walking distance within Ilfracombe itself.
Review 65:Lovely accomodating staff, nothing was ever too much trouble. Good size rooms and bathrooms. Many other reviews mention the outside being run down but this is just what every property is like by the sea and is definitely not run down. The hotel has a gym and sauna!
Review 66:The location is central to Ilfracombe, and directly opposite the Tunnels Beaches. Parking available. Staff very helpful, including recommendations for places to eat.
Review 67:Would have loved to have had an electric shower put in or even just a shower curtain! Not a fan of bathing... But was only a minor issue!
Review 68:Staying for a Tunnels Beaches wedding, this hotel is the perfect spot just opposite! Private parking was brill as trying to park anywhere near in Ilfracombe was a nightmare. Staff were absolutely lovely! The bed was really comfortable and had a great sleep! Thankyou again!
Review 69:The fact rooms were not 'serviced' other than bin emptied and toilet roll folded. One thing we value is coming back to a room where beds re made and towels folded. Esp for this price. Parking was limited which may well cause problem in busier times. Also, we personally would have preferred a shower :-)
Review 70:Lovely old hotel with amazing staff.
Review 71:The Staff were Friendly, Helpful and Knowledgeable. We Found them easily approachable, Our 3 Year Old Loved the Staff So Much He asked For Them! The Breakfast was Delicious and Generous and the Bar Was reasonably priced.... And stocked considering its the wrong end of the season. We'll gladly be going back in the future!
Review 72:no restaurant as advertised.door banging through night on laundry room.dirty toilet brush.neglected front entrance,
Review 73:location.good breakfast.pleasant staff.
Review 74:Hotel was lovely and clean and in a good location for getting around. We stayed just one night and had room 107 which had a lovely large sitting area and 2 balconies. Bathroom was spotlessly clean breakfast was good and staff were friendly. Would defiantly use this hotel again.
Review 75:We didn't dislike anything but think the hotel could have been a little cleaner there were areas of dust within our room not in areas you would really notice but just small things such as behind the door and the extractor, also in the dining room there were areas that could have been cleaner particularly as we were the only guests in the hotel.
Review 76:The staff were amazing, very professional and friendly. The location was perfect for us and the main reason for us booking here. The breakfast was basic but served quickly and the dining room was light and airy. Overall it was a good experience mainly due to the staff.
Review 77:Scruffy looking outside. Inadequate parking. Indifferent breakfast - bacon sarnie made with nasty white sliced bread. Room cost me the same as it would for a couple - expensive for what it was.
Review 78:Convenient for Tunnels Beaches. Room adequate (but nothing special).
Review 79:Room 207 shower not controllable, and bath took too long to fill 1mmleft = cold; 1mm right = scalding hotfire doors slam shut all through night and need dampers to make them quiet (especially in the early hours)
Review 80:LOcation, friendly staff. Access to Wifi.
Review 81:This is not a negative but just a point to prepare for. The seagulls like to call loudly early in the morning. You are at the seaside, to be expected. But if you want to snooze deeply bring earplugs :)
Review 82:Staff, rooms could not be faulted, breakfast quickly served and tastey
Review 83:there was'nt anything i did'nt like we had a great couple of days and me and the family really enjoyed it if im really been picky the only thing i can think of is maybe get some carlsberg export on draught for next time im back that would me soooooo happy
Review 84:on our arrival made to feel welcome nice clean room and two separate rooms in one able to get away from kids which was nice, nice and close to town excellent for popping in and out. had some great chats with owners very nice couple well done for a cheap friendly place to stay not forgetting the good old full english breakfast cooked to order nice and hot
Review 85:Just a comment. Could have done with a shelf in the bathroom and also maybe a few more tables for two at breakfast.
Review 86:The staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they even searched the rubbish and found my glasses which I thought I'd lost. The location was great for wedding at the Tunnels. Breakfast was lovely.
Review 87:Parking can be difficult but this is mentioned on their website and with a bit of moving about it was ok. No shower in our room, just a bath with shower attachment. Decor is a bit tired but the price, location and cleanliness can't be faulted.
Review 88:Good location for wedding at tunnels beaches, staff helpful, breakfast good. Family room a good size. Rooms were clean.
Review 89:Clean and comfortable room; small but useful lift - especially as were on the 3rd floor. Staff friendly and helpful with local knowledge. Good breakfast
Review 90:The bed was very uncomfortable for my liking.... Being an old building it was impossible to leave the window open, the weights were not there ( im guessing this was something that was being looked at, as the building had scaffolding outside)
Review 91:Great location, free parking. Freshly cooked breakfast, friendly staff. Flexible on checking in and vacating room as we arrived earlier than expected. Would defiantly recommend to others.
Review 92:We loved the room but the lobby/bar (foyer) lacked atmosphere and needs either carpeting or armchairs (as well as the 2 sofas) and not the dining chairs. It was also very cold for the time of the year unfortunately so we needed some heating. Shelving needed in shower to put toiletries on.
Review 93:Our room was large with excellent quality furniture and bedding. The shower room and the shower itself was very large and had just been refurbished beautifully. The breakfasts were great with good quality food and served piping hot.
Review 94:room was cold, windows would not shut, scaffolding outside windows, no parking ,no wifi, overpriced £24.99 pr night on outside of door, we paid £260 for 2nights, and had a child under 12 (2 adults 1 18 year old &12 yearold).door locks dodgy light switches broke, bulbs broke
Review 95:breakfast food
Review 96:Older style hotel with lots of character. Very spacious rooms, which are very clean and tidy. Polite staff, and a good breakfast served in a clean restaurant area. Well worth a visit.
Review 97:High chairs were dirty and old, one waitress didn't complete our order or wipe highchair and limited parking.
Review 98:Lady on reception, location, very helpful and clean.
Review 99:the entrance to the hotel wasn't very friendly and a little rough looking.
Review 100:food, position, staff friendly and helpful. Do not be put off n by the entrance it is nice inside
Review 101:Nothing!!
Review 102:Hotel is superbly located next to the tunnel beaches a short distance from the main shopping street and a nice short level walk to the gardens, theatre, harbour and pubs for meals. We had the suite which we would highly recommend and had not just one balcony from the bedroom but a second one from the spacious comfortable lounge. The breakfasts were good and Malcolm and Nina and the rest of the staff were all very friendly. If we were to go to Ilfracombe again it would definitely be the same room at the same hotel.
Review 103:Hotel looked very tired and run down from the outside. Our room was thrown together, not much room for drying hair etc Mirror resting against the wall
Review 104:Beds were comfy Nice furniture in the bedrooms Pleasant staff
Review 105:Nothing of significance
Review 106:Spacious family room Very helpful, friendly staff Good location in relation to the harbour - 5 minute walk Full English breakfast however staff are more than happy cater to needs
Review 107:The seagulls - recommend you take some earplugs.
Review 108:The owner and staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms mad bathrooms were spotlessly clean. The breakfast was served quickly and efficiently and plenty of it.
Review 109:Previous guests towels were left in our room, however, it was taken care of straight away. Spa bath was good, however, although there was a shower head we could have done with a proper shower.
Review 110:Location was perfect, staff friendly and a good breakfast which was included in the price.
Review 111:Room furniture needs maintaining fronts falling off all draws. No atmosphere in bar. Although it had limited parking, parking in nearby streets was ok.
Review 112:Position very good. Breakfast freshly cooked and plentiful. Staff were helpful and the room was immaculately clean.
Review 113:Uncomfortable bed and pillows. Balcony railings flimsy and looked dangerous. Socket hanging out of wall. Shower over bath had no hanging point and no shower curtain. Towel rail screw coming out of wall. Gym facilities old and dated and looked unsafe sauna not working. Breakfast was poor ( lukewarm dry poached eggs)
Review 114:Location good. Staff friendly
Review 115:The outside looks scruffy, there is building work going on so hopefully this will be sorted out before too long.
Review 116:Perfect location for the wedding venue Tunnel Beaches. Room comfortable, breakfast very good, free parking on the road outside.
Review 117:The entrance on both sides sport a steep stair, but you can ask for help. There is an elevator in the main building though.
Review 118:The location is fantastic, you're 1 min from Tunnels Beaches, supermarket and High Street 3 mins, beach/harbour restaurants another 5-10 mins. The hotel itself is a bargain. Spacious rooms and shower, nice hot water, you can open those windows, lobby is bright and inviting, staff helpful. We particularly were taken by the extraordinarily friendly service at breakfast.
Review 119:Malcolm was very welcoming and helpful (he even helped carry in our luggage), he couldn't do enough for us! All the staff were brilliant; breakfast was lovely and all our needs were met and exceeded! The spa bath was an extra luxury which we very much enjoyed. We couldn't recommend the Bath House Hotel highly enough. Our stay in Ilfracombe was enhanced by the lovely accommodation, we would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
Review 120:No sea view Room & en-suite were tired No parking available on-site
Review 121:The staff were friendly Close to the town & beach Very close to the Catholic church
Review 122:Calling a small room with an old multi gym, a few rusty weights and some cardio machines a fitness suite is a little misleading. I would suggest including pictures on website so people know what to expect before arriving. I had chosen the hotel due to wanting a little workout in the morning and was a little disappointed, but it done the job so can't complain too much
Review 123:Everything about the hotel room, service and breakfast was excellent.
Review 124:Would have appreciated bottle of drinking water in room but no trouble to purchase at local supermarket.
Review 125:We were a large wedding party and the location for Tunnels Beaches was perfect.Rooms were clean and comforta le.Breakfast was excellent and Malcolm and his staff were very accommodating.
Review 126:Did not find any faults.
Review 127:Everybody was more than helpful did their best to help out in anyway. Breakfast girls were lovely always bright and bubbly.
Review 128:Very friendly staff, lovely clean room, great to have a lift as I have some walking difficulties, excellent breakfast, brilliant price and location.
Review 129:short kettle lead, draught from windows Noisy outside
Review 130:The staff where very nice, bed was comfortable ensuite lovely
Review 131:The rooms were lovely staff very helpful good location
Review 132:Tatty exterior and car park. Breakfast not very good.....no fruits or yoghurts..scrambled eggs almost white and mushrooms nearly raw.
Review 133:Friendly staff, Good food, Clean and comfortable.
Review 134:The balcony and French doors could do with a little tender loving care.
Review 135:The balcony to sit out on and enjoying a glass of wine
Review 136:Lovely clean room , lovely breakfast , friendly staff
