Reviews for Hostellerie Le Roy Soleil

Review 1:I had a flat tire on my bike and they took me to the nearest bike shop to get a new inner tube. Saved me a long walk. That's service above and beyond.

Review 2:the music in the garden was kind of a hassle and totaly out of place, but they actualy shut it of when we asked. A lot of people seem to ask this but the owner clearly doens't care. A pitty cause the place is so nice and you don't need music to make this place more enjoyable.

Review 3:Waiting staff at dinner need to be better trained and organised. Air conditioning in room was not very efficient and was non-variable and a bit noisy at night.

Review 4:Excellent pool. Comfortable room - junior suite. Great location.

Review 5:Our rooms were up for renovation. Meaning: no airconditioning while it was 38°C outside! Impossible to sleep! Small scorpion in the bed. + had to pay for upgrade because type of booked room was no longer available.

Review 6:Outside restaurant is nice.

Review 7:Some rooms are horrible. Breakfast is expensive and not looked after. Food is not covered and attracts flies and bugs. Food is not replenished and staff doesn't seem t care. Staff is the real issue: never smiles, does the bare minimum and clearly shows no interest in guests

Review 8:Property is very pretty and well located. Our room was nice after we asked to change. They were kind enough to change our room because the first one they showed us was horrible.

Review 9:Decor less sophisticated than some - so feels less "Provençal". But this is a minor quibble.

Review 10:Great location, warm large room with excellent bathroom Wonderful view from balcony.

Review 11:standard rooms are more like cave prison cell without working conditioner or TC. Wi-Fi is available only around reception. Unbeliavable mark-up for wines

Review 12:nice garden. Possible value for money

Review 13:At some point, someone poured a lot of money into repurposing this mas, but it's looking tired - especially the motel-grade furniture - and feels impersonal. Dinner is dull for the price.

Review 14:Despite having requested adjoining rooms when booking, we got distant rooms. No wardrobes in the room, just a rack. No refrigerator. No air conditioning despite temperatures in the area. The washbasin spout was scarce. There was no outlet in the bathroom and in the room there was no mirror. Lights out and although we complained not restocked. The robot running in the pool while guests swimming. Overall customer service was null and amenities far below what they offer on the website. Not recommendable.

Review 15:Product a little tired.

Review 16:Location to menerbes. Quite setting. Friendly staff willing to help.

Review 17:The lay out of the facilities

Review 18:Highly Recommended hotel, great value, great breakfast and nice friendly staff.

Review 19:Lovely dinner but limited menu.

Review 20:Lovely location and staff. Beautiful room (Junior Suite) and private terrace. Excellent breakfast.

Review 21:Nice hotel within walking distance of Menerbes, good pool, friendly Staff and a nice breakfast selection.

Review 22:Poor email communication

Review 23:Situation and peaceful location

Review 24:Nonchalant attitude to building maintenance

Review 25:Hotel layout and style - general atmosphere

Review 26:Lack of service, only reception staff could help you and they weren't at their desk all the time, some bedrooms Rey noise on top of kitchen area or breakfast area, bathrooms doors with glass lack of privacy

Review 27:Location, ambience of the communal parts

Review 28:In need of a management shake-up. We booked a suite but were shown to a smaller room on arrival. After protest we were told we could have a suite but not for the whole duration - so we had to move mid stay. Rooms had few facilities and fridges did not work Door in the first room would not lock but staff were not interested. We could not pay by card on departure - we tried 4 cards each with ample cash but their machine would not accept payment. We had to drive to local town to withdraw cash.

Review 29:Restaurant food was good Very peaceful location

Review 30:1- Poor management of breakfast room 2- Missing products at breakfast (coffee, fruits, plates, etc.) 3- No English speaking at reception

Review 31:1- Old preserved building with charming decoration 2- Hotel location (near vineyards and medieval villages)

Review 32:nestled in the heart of Provence, this hotel was everything we anticipated and much more. We highly recommend staying in this beautiful hotel and the most wonderful welcome we've ever received in any of our trips.

Review 33:We had to wait 20 mins for someone to arrive In Reception to check us in. Our room was tiny.. No chair, no space to walk past the bed, 2 tiny windows, broken air conditioning, 3 hangars (we were there for a wedding so this wasn't sufficient). V had to find a member of staff. After any meal one person would find the bill for the whole group staying at the hotel put on their room account without being asked. 2 coffees at 11am outside in the garden were marked on the bill as a 42 euro. breakfast. disorganised staff and management and a dark disappointing room left more of an impression than the beautiful setting and location.

Review 34:Beautiful setting, Lovely building. Picturesque..

Review 35:The room on the other hand was a much lower standard and wasn't really compatible with the status of the hotel. The windows were very little, thus not much natural air or light inside, the décor of the room was also on the downside. The bathroom, although the "higlight" of the room, was badly equipped. The shower, was too low (we had to bend our knees to shower), had little water and no protection at the side, thus flooding the bathroom every time. The breakfast rates forced us to eat somewhere else.

Review 36:When we drived into the property we were amazed by the beauty of the place. It is very well located and the entrance and the general facilities are beautiful.

Review 37:The service was a big disappointment. There is only one Englishspeaking employee on the premises. Wifi is only available in the lobbyand not in hotel room. Food and restaurant was horrible. Veryunprofessional attitude.

Review 38:The grounds of the hotel was very beautiful. Nice balcony and pool.

Review 39:very costly for what we got no fridge in our (suite) no air conditioning - just a fan breakfast and dinner prices would not entice you to eat there very little choices on the menu

Review 40:the location the decor and provencal influence and gardens the swimming pool proximity to Menerbres and other perched villages

Review 41:I'd booked a twin but was given a double (however the view was incredible so we didn't want to change) and there seems to be windows in the bathroom doors. We put a spare sheet over the door to cover it up.

Review 42:The style of the hotel was exactly the country retreat we were looking for when visiting rural south of France, and the upkeep was impeccable. We really loved it and had such a great time! The wine in the restaurant was possibly the best I'd ever tasted and the food was great too. The staff were so helpful and very friendly (as everyone in the Luberon region seem to be!). I'd definitely go to this hotel again... Possibly next year.

Review 43:There was a dirty furniture in a lobby and in a breakfast restaraunt, the garden was groomed. We were waiting for accomodation for about 2hours, plus to that we were not warned about the readiness of the roomnumber. What is more, there was always a lack of dish in a restaraunt.

Review 44:The service and the food in a dinner restaraunt were excellent.

Review 45:No real complaints as we liked room etc etc but did not take breakfast or meals there except a coffee early in the morning before we went sightseeing.

Review 46:A most beautiful Hotel and setting and the owner was so charming and helpful. It is a laid-back and relaxed place to be and will be definitely returning. we had a ground floor room for easy access for my elderly French dog!! Thank you to all there.

Review 47:Dirty room had to downgrade to standard to get clean one and still had to pay full price of superior room. The reception staff/management were extremely unhelpful and totally unapologetic - appararently they were busy and french labour laws limit how much cleaning can be done. They would not even guarantee that the extemely badly made bed had been changed at all after last guests.

Review 48:Pretty location and good food.

Review 49:The most rudest and unhelpful lady at the reception. We requested a twinroom and got a double. She was so unhelpful with the situation. We wereguaranteed a view of the vineyard and got no view at all.

Review 50:Location. Free wifi.

Review 51:Very bad management. When you have your worker steel things from the clients rooms you should be more firm. We had a very bad experience with this hotl. Our stuff been stolen and nobody even care in this hotel. They added other room charges on our room and nobody even say sorry for the mistake. Very bad customer service

Review 52:It was very bad experience as they stol our stuff. My kids IPods and head set even the charger for the phone they took it. Also in the check out we found that they added another room charges on our room. Their dinner and drinks. It raise our bill to double

Review 53:If I had the means, I would have spent more money on a nicer room. Since we were on a budget, they gave us a corner, small room, with a double bed that was extremely stiff, the safe wasn't working, air conditioning was not operable throughout the building (we did ask for a fan, but they neglected or forgot to do so), and bottom line, we were just not comfortable sleeping there. The shower pressure was good and bathroom was clean. I felt like we were "roughing it" and out of my 2 weeks of travels, this was the most uncomfortable stay we had compared to our hotels in Nice, Antibes, and Aix-en-Provence. I know, I know...you get what you pay for. I think if they upgraded the room a bit, it could have been better.

Review 54:The food at the restaurant was great!

Review 55:The cost of meals was extremely expensive - have paid less and got more in Michelin restaurants - it felt opportunistic as our location was remote.

Review 56:Wonderful ambience in hotel and gardens. The breakfast area particularly was lovely.

Review 57:Toilet did not work properly and was not attended to by staff in spite of asking. Inspite of great dinner, breakfast was very poor and overpriced. Untrained junior waiter had no idea - we had to eat out for breakfast for the rest of the week. Lack of service to pool area.

Review 58:Charming old renovated 'Mas' with and beautiful gardens and pool. Rooms decorated in Provence style. Location is very central to a beautiful part of Provence. Very good head waiter. Dinners were of a very high standard.

Review 59:For the price charged, this was frankly poor. There was limited choice, the fruit was of poor quality (my apple for example was quite bad, and should have been noticed by staff putting it out - I should really have complained at the time, but just decided to leave it). The breakfast was as disappointing as the meal the previous evening had been exceptionally good.

Review 60:Location, style, Evening Meal (which was superb), in fact just about everything apart from breakfast (see below) was magnificent

Review 61:Bad hotel. Old, smelly outdated furnitures. Uncomfortable beds andbeddings. No pillows. Do not supply enough bathroom soaps and shampoos.Old and dirty carpets...and stafff does not even care or giveattention. Wifi only availble in lobby, which makes very inconvenientto use. Limited channels on TV.....is that enough reasons for you notto go there?

Review 62:Amazing place. The grounds, pool area and restaurant all set in lovely grounds. The room had a large kingsize bed and balcony. The staff were very helpfull and friendly.

Review 63:Couldn't get internet in the bedroom.

Review 64:Well located. Not busy. Concierge knowledgeable.

Review 65:I miss a refrigerator in the room.

Review 66:The peace time in a provençale town, with and evasive atmosphera.

Review 67:small room, expensive breakfast not good value

Review 68:location, close to menerbes, pool, friendly staff

Review 69:Bit remote receptionist spoke no english

Review 70:Cheeky restaurant and bar prices make the hotel poor value for money

Review 71:Charming Hotel in a very pleasant location, with some charming staff

Review 72:The room was unfinished and wc door falling off

Review 73:Superb in very way. The ambience ,service dining experience first class.
