Reviews for La Bastide de Gordes
Review 1:Some staffs are not professional. When I check out, she added extra payment for extra bed because I have a child, but in my room an extra bed was not prepared and asked by me. Without being aware of installation of extra bed, adding an extra bed is kind of rude. If I could not recognized it, I might pay it. Expect for her, other staffs were very good.
Review 2:My room was very clean and renovated. Moreover, view from hotel is fantastic.
Review 3:Everything was perfect!
Review 4:It was great to stay in this hotel! The interior is absolutely exceptional: both traditional and new, very cozy and lots of attention to details. Lots of beautiful antique pieces included! Spa area is nice, restaurant is very enjoyable. People in hotel are very friendly and nice. We were given Better room then we booked and the view is amazing! For sure the best place to stay in Provence!
Review 5:I believe, the hotel owners need to realize that cheap pictures on the walls - it is not enough for such a high price. BAD hotel, the price does not correspond to the quality absolutely. Staff are not attentive to the guest's request. Glass of water brought to the room after 40 minutes and after 2 reminders. In the end forgot to book a taxi and we almost missed the train.
Review 6:Good location
Review 7:We stayed here for the first two nights of our honeymoon and the service was impeccable from the get go. We were upgraded on check-in, small gifts were left in our room on the last night and the restaurant was amazing. The staff couldn't do enough. The only negative would be the extortionate room service prices but there are a few places close by to get food and drinks so not an a major issue.
Review 8:The hotel s beautiful, filled with local antiques. The terrace has fabulous views for enjoying an aperitif and we had a wonderful meal in La Citadelle restaurant. Can't wait to return !
Review 9:Being British - The only let down was waiting 25 minutes for a cup of tea in the afternoon, they only had one bar man on. Fine in the evening when more staff.
Review 10:The room, the view, the friendly helpful staff
Review 11:From the moment our car keys were taken from us for the valet parking to their return when we left two days later we were charmed by our stay at La Bastide de Gordes. It is a truly lovely hotel, outstanding views, beautifully and luxuriously decorated while cleverly retaining a nod to its heritage as a castle with stone floors and staircases. The staff were faultless (we loved their uniforms!), all very friendly, charming and helpful: always there when you needed them but never obtrusive. Our deluxe valley view room was a delight to stay in offering every comfort and a separate shower and bath in the very spacious bathroom. We ate on our first night in La Citadelle restaurant, sadly weather was not good enough to eat on the terrace. The service and the ambience was lovely and recommendations for wine excellent. Our meal was on the whole very good indeed, although the lamb dish was a bit of a disappointment compared to everything else if we are going to be picky. And having watched people eating their lunch on the terrace under the shade of the trees the next day I would definitely recommend eating there for the location alone. We spent many relaxing hours on their sunny terrace, reading the papers and drinking in the view - perfection!
Review 12:Sure did. Leaving the place was horrible.
Review 13:All the Staff and the facilities were brilliant. Such a relaxing space. The bar Staff were even more brilliant. D & S Middleton
Review 14:This property is spectacular. We travel a great deal around the world, and we generally only stay in 9+ rated, 4-star hotels. The building itself is amazing given it's location in Gordes. The staff makes the hotel special though. They are incredibly friendly, and the concierge team is among the best we've ever met. The hotel is right in the center of the tiny village of Gordes that is now a popular hill town village. The weekly Tuesday market is smaller than the big cities, but frankly not that small and much more enjoyable than the craze of markets in places like St. Remy, Avignon or Arles. Gordes is a great central location to venture about.
Review 15:The food was overall disapointing, limited in choice and quite expensive for some of the dishes. The scrambled eggs were always watery.
Review 16:The hotel and staff were excellent. It was my son's birthday and they prepared a cake for him, great service!
Review 17:Renovations almost complete so a little noise but staff did there best to make sure there was minimal inconvenience.
Review 18:Very friendly staff, beautiful hotel. Incredible view from our suite over Gordes and the surrounding valley. .
Review 19:1.My wife had her nails fixed (at an exorbitant cost of 170 euros YES ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY), next day two hand nails chipped and the hotel offered a refund of 20 euros. 2. The rooms with a village view are definitely handicapped and the difference in price does not sufficiently compensate. 3. Very very expensive to the point of being not good value for money .
Review 20:The view and the location.
Review 21:There was nothing we didn't like. We wish we stayed longer!
Review 22:This hotel is quite special. The view is breathtaking and has a great location in this little village, Gordes. The hotel has just been renovated and it has been beautifully done. The service was outstanding and the food was of a high standard. Would recommend this hotel and it definitely lives up to its 5 star rating.
Review 23:Pool smaller than I imagined, On departure the bill is not itemised, just bar, dinner etc but now details. Restaurant should renovate to create more atmosphere.
Review 24:The view, the view the view. Dinner on my 51st birthday.
Review 25:The Hotel is soon going to be renovated from top to bottom and I hope this will help to update the water piping noise ... that is particularly not comfortable to hear in the middle of the night. Future rooms will be great for sure !
Review 26:The Hotel is located nearly at the top of Gordes and this offers to each and every visitor a stunning view from the area ! The staff is particularly professional (for most of them but not each of them unluckily for us ...) and takes care of everything from the bar to the dinner service. Great place to stay in Gordes.
Review 27:The common areas are spectacular but the rooms are a little tired and in need of a cosmetic facelift.
Review 28:The location is incredible; tucked into the hillside of the beautiful villsge of Gordes with views of the valley below. The terrace is to die for. Great little pool. Super service.
Review 29:Breakfast should be included in the cost of the bedroom.
Review 30:Luxurious hotel with great staff who always addressed me by my name. Great sun lounges with a fantastic view from the pool. Views of Provence from the restaurant, terraces and bedroom were incredible.
Review 31:Perhaps better soundproofing for the rooms. We had classical music playing from the television / radio and received call from front desk of neighbor complaining- so it was quite surprising (not to mention embarassing) to have to be asked to lower "Chopin's Piano Sonata"!! That should not have to happen.
Review 32:The staff is 5+ star - especially in their "just right" proper combination of professionalism and friendliness. We had one of the new renovated rooms and it was a lovely tasteful blend of classic elegance. Excellent food at restaurant. Will always include this place in our itinerary from now on...
Review 33:Definitely choose a valley, not village, view.
Review 34:Fabulous, gorgeous hotel, in a wonderful spot, hanging on to a cliff on the edge of lovely Gordes.
Review 35:This is our second stay at this hotel.....its just beautiful. Lovely friendly staff, fantastic location and very very luxurious.
Review 36:The price is expensive and not including breakfast.
Review 37:Decoration is beautiful and the reception is perfect very good ambience.
Review 38:Expected much more from restaurant.
Review 39:Large comfortable rooms; nice staff; very nice city; amazing view.
Review 40:Swimming pool on the small side
Review 41:Service Room Food Location Market in Gordes on a Tuesday
Review 42:backyard pool beds horrible time of the breakfast on sundays (until 10h30???)
Review 43:location
Review 44:Beutiful view, very nice staff, great service and food.
Review 45:Very attentive team lead by Jean Pierre. Very knowledgeable Spa staff and very attentive. Loved my meal in the restaurant fabulous food and delicious recommendation for the local wine. Highly recommend and I will be back.
Review 46:Nothing.
Review 47:The staff is the perfect representation of what a 5-star hotel should be. They are we so amazingly helpful. I wasn't allowed to carry one thing while I was there - even my water from the room. American hotels should come here and learn a few things.
Review 48:No decent room hair dryer only a bathroom one. No bath robe either & for that money I think there should be.
Review 49:The food was exceptional as we're the staff. Better than we expected and more. A wonderful experience. Thank you.
Review 50:Bed too soft !! Not a major complaint for most I know!! .....maybe I should have asked for a firm bed ( I suffer with my back ) I am sure it would not have been a problem :)).
Review 51:Loved setting, atmosphere, decor, attention to detail, the pool overlooking the valley after a long journey just perfect !! Wonderful lived up to my expectations totally , we will be back thanks so much.
Review 52:Not fond of marshmallow-soft pillows, excessive spa surcharge to guests and, one day... NO soap!
Review 53:Excellent location in charming village with easy access to countryside. Spacious junior suite with sunset + valley view. Very helpful front desk and quick service to the room.
Review 54:on arrival there were two small bottles of water in room, these were not replenished. there were no little niceties left in the room, my husband and I have stayed in a number of similar hotels and all have had a little welcome in the room on arrival. the swimming pool was a huge disappointment, it was so small, it was like some of the indivdual pools we've had at other hotels. By the pool there was a constant traffic of staff walking to and from the laundry, not what you expect at this standard of hotel. Also at the pool area there were gates that constantly banged. in fact noise was quite an issue at the pool area, on our last day i actually had to ask the waiting staff to stop dragging the tables and chairs about as it was ruing what should have been a very peaceful time
Review 55:the hotel was very beautiful. All areas were coolly peaceful and serene and the staff were all very lovely and helpful without being in your face. the setting is just wonderful with the views over the valley. Breakfast was good but could have done with fresh cafetieres off coffee rather than pots sitting brewing for all. Also the orange would have been better freshly squeezed...especially at a five star establishment.
Review 56:28 euros per person for breakfast.
Review 57:Beautiful hotel with a spectacular view. Lovely, spacious, subtlydecorated suite. Easy walk into the village. They take care of your car,so no parking hassles. Professional, friendly staff. It's a luxuryaccommodation, with luxury prices. It can't be beat for location andattention to detail.
Review 58:Fitness room was mediocre, but it may be partially because I stayed in alow season (mid-October).
Review 59:The location is extraordinary. I wanted to stay at the hotel I sawpassing by when I traveled to the monastery in Senanque in June 2012.The hotel had a magnificent view.
Review 60:It is impossibly expensive. The restaurant menu doesn't change and is rather dull so we only ate there one night. Fortunately there are a handful of good restaurants a short stroll away. Because of its situation the pool is tiny, but I believe there are plans to improve that as far as is possible. Poolside service is non-existent.
Review 61:The situation is hard to beat. Great views and peaceful atmosphere, yet in the heart of a charming village with good restaurants and shopping. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the rooms spacious and comfortable. This was our second visit
Review 62:Wi fi kept dropping out
Review 63:Staff and position
Review 64:Beautiful property, comfortable rooms, wonderful food, great spa, friendly, helpful staff. Terraces, and pool area have fabulous views.
Review 65:Portrait into the room (scaring)

Review 74:Nothing
Review 75:Everything
Review 76:Too soft beds.
Review 77:Location, staff, big rooms.
Review 78:Location is perfect, a short walk to the center of Gordes. Hotel is everything you would expect from a 5 star, no complaints here.
Review 79:The last reparations were made many many years ago
