Reviews for The Waverley Hotel
Review 1:the TV was very small and very high up on the wall i had a sore neck from looking up
Review 2:fantastic shower warm room the food was great and the staff were very friendley
Review 3:All ok.
Review 4:Nice hotel on main street, small room for a couple but comfortable. Had meal on the first night nice food till my partner found a long white hair in her apple crumble an apology was made. Nice staff.
Review 5:Poor access as there is a pedestrian crossing by entry door, had to find parking space on main road and carry luggage to and from hotel
Review 6:Very freindly staff
Review 7:The room was clean enough how ever mattress was so uncomfortable, springy and sore on springs think it needs replaced.
Review 8:Location was fantastic, staff friendly and welcoming
Review 9:The noise from the bar downstairs carries to the room, the heating did not work or was not switched on so the room was absolutely freezing
Review 10:Rather big room, nice dècor, central location
Review 11:Shower was difficult to adjust to a suitable temperature
Review 12:Staff very friendly and helpful excellent breakfast also very good meals in Bar for reasonable prices.
Review 13:our bedroom was next to the main road and the windows were not double glazed therefore the noise of the traffic and the lorries woke us up each morning
Review 14:very good location and good meals staff very freindly
Review 15:Only one slight problem for me was because I am a very light sleeper and our room faced the main road, the sound of the traffic during the night was a bit disturbing.
Review 16:Such welcoming, friendly, efficient, helpful staff serving good quality, delicious food. Comfortable, warm nicely decorated, spacious bedroom with tea, coffee making facilities and ..lovely biscuits! :D
Review 17:Heating was off so it got a bit chilly at night. Late summer so understandable that heating is off.
Review 18:Staff very friendly, food excellent, accommodation clean, spacious and comfortable.
Review 19:Evening meal was a bit disappointing not as good as previous year. Must be a new chef?
Review 20:Have been quite a few times now. Always feel comfortable. Nice friendly waitress who worked till midnight one night and then back on for breakfast next morning. Still had a warm and friendly welcome and cheerful disposition.
Review 21:There was no car park although there is free parking on street, I had no problem getting a parking space but am unsure if this is always the case.
Review 22:The staff in the Waverly Hotel were really friendly and helpful
Review 23:Nothing bad except fishy smell when we walked in the door.
Review 24:Comfortable friendly hotel with a good pub style restaurant - Nice variety of choices and reasonable prices. Even though it is on the main road and above the pub our room was quiet.
Review 25:Father found it difficult to manoeuvre the stairs,a bannister on the opposite side would have helped.
Review 26:The staff were very nice and the food was excellent.
Review 27:We had a very comfortable stay here. The room was very clean. The bathroom was big with a good bath. The staff were friendly and helpful with any queries. We were traveling with our 1 year old son and the staff were accommodating with allowing us to place our pram downstairs etc. Great location in the center of Callander.
Review 28:Room was excessively warm, even with the radiator off and the windows wide open - there was just no circulation at all. Woken up at 7am by a disco in the kitchen as they prepared breakfast.
Review 29:Central location, parking was not too much of a problem.
Review 30:No place to put anything in the bathroom. Shelf above sink was broken. Mirrors were placed for 6ft tall people. No full-lenghth mirror at all.
Review 31:Good location and good breakfast. And, when we complained about overhead light being out and no mirror that we could see in, they fixed the light and brought us a mirror immediately.
Review 32:Breakfast. Out of date cereal date on box use by 18/07/15. Cooked breakfast or rather uncooked breakfast. Egg raw, sausages stone cold and potato scone not cooked.
Review 33:Location and dinner in the evening very good.
Review 34:it starts with payment up front like in hourly hotel, rather dirty place and after specifically being told no room service, the room gets entered. Worst being, the room was left unlocked. No front desk - any bum from the street can go to your room unnoticed. No kind of surveilance of any sort
Review 35:good breakfast and central location
Review 36:We booked this hotel within 30 minutes of arrival. It waswonderful. Lorraine (at the front desk) was a delight. She also wasour server for dinner in the restaurant that night...she was veryprofessional and kind.
Review 37:Having returned for a second stay, since we enjoyed our first venture there, it was the friendliness, cleanliness and location that drew us back again. Oh, and a very enjoyable breakfast!
Review 38:absolutely nothing!
Review 39:The Room was clean and comfortable, bed was really good. Many toiletries provided along with coffee and biscuits. Plenty of towels, extra pillows, everything I normally have to request more of. The bar was very friendly with many locals and although extremely busy one of my nights, the staff kept the queues short (Lorraine) as they would serve more than one person at a time. I asked if I could have breakfast earlier than suggested and the staff were more than helpful and accomodating (Lorraine again) is clearly an asset to the Hotel and should be commended for her service and helpfulness, politeness etc. There wasnt anything she didnt want to do to help. The previous day I told the staff I would miss breakfast and they offered to put me up a packed lunch which I thought was over and above the normal level of service, Would defintely recommend and also return, many thanks
Review 40:Not a bad experience as such, but extremely uncomfortable mattress! Only there 2 nights or would have had to speak to Manager. Hope it was only the one mattress!
Review 41:Lovely staff. Well priced for quality of meals.
Review 42:The rooms are right on top of a very noisy pub. Loud talking, shouting and singing until just before 1am. Had to cancel our 2nd night as we had such a hard time getting to sleep the 1st night. The hotel smells very strongly of fish. The mugs in the room were not cleaned from one day to the next. Toiletries were not re-stocked. The heating towel rack did not work. Overall would have to strongly advise against staying here.
Review 43:Breakfast was ok. Staff waived cancellation fee for 2nd night.
Review 44:No real complaints.
Review 45:The barman was very knowledgeable re Scottish whisky , Rachel was the friendliest and cheeriest receptionist/waitress ever, and the fried breakfast was fabulous.
Review 46:Down side,we had bedroom one and the mattres was very poor also no mattress protector:((((
Review 47:The staff were very pleasant and helpful.breakfast was very nice,we also had a meal in the waverly ,which we really enjoyed.
Review 48:On the front of hotel it says live entertainment, and that is why I booked the hotel but there was none at all so was disappointed
Review 49:Food was very good and beds where comfortable.
Review 50:The cups in the bedroom had not been cleaned properly. Still a bit of biscuit sticking to one of them. The meal we had was very poor. Lentil soup which was watered down too much and two vegetable curries which had sauce like water. It may have been a bad night for cooking but after waling 22 miles that day you look forward to a nice meal. ch
Review 51:For the money we paid there was no shower gels, towels were dirty looking and like sand paper to touch, small TV on the wall very hard to see.
Review 52:Breakfast was very good there was a good choice of cereals and the cooked breakfast was lovely.
Review 53:Our room was at the front of the hotel although nice clean and cosy the road noise was something to behold Lorries and cars passing by most of Friday night . Saturday night slighty quieter didn't bode for a great nights sleep
Review 54:The hotel was very welcoming and staff always there on hand to help out and have a chat. Had dinner in the hotel both nights it was lovely fresh and piping hot Nothing too much trouble at all .
Review 55:not that it was a big problem but a dog was barking a lot in the evening.
Review 56:location, staff, food were all excellent. room was small but clean and comfortable.
Review 57:Just a couple of minor cleanliness issues (being cobwebs high up in corners of room) and with 2 occupants in our room there was only 1 cup for hot drinks.
Review 58:The location is perfect for trips around the Falkirk and Stirling areas, and with breathtaking views, the food in the hotel is great, with a variety of choice, good choice of drinks and very efficiant and friendly staff.
Review 59:Very helpful staff, excellent room very clean, in a very central position for exploring ..... fantastic food available in the hotel and we were lucky enough to ge there during the jazz festival so we had fabulous entertainment aswell.
Review 60:Hotel was in a great central location for Callander. The staff were really friendly and helpful when checking us in and when we went down for food. The rooms are above a pub but despite there being a race night on and it being busy, we didn't hear anything at all from our room. It probably helped that we were in a room at the back. The room was clean and a good size. The food in the bar was ok. The breakfast was nice. If you're looking for things to do, the people in the tourist information office are very helpful!
Review 61:Front room a little noisy at closing time (very quiet all other time). We had been warned an event was to be hosted there that night.
Review 62:Good size room Comfortable bed Amazing breakfast - best ever Warm
Review 63:Toilet seat was loose and fell off. Strange picture above the bed lowered the tone of the room . Would have been better without it.
Review 64:Good location. Lovely curtains, good breakfast. Clean room.
Review 65:Meals we bought at night were served on cold plates therefore they went cold quickly and public areas were cold
Review 66:very good room ,very good staff and great breakfast.
Review 67:Everything was really good, no complains at all.
Review 68:The staff were all very helpful and friendly, the service was excellent, and the food very nice, with a good selection on the menu. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and the breakfast was really very tasty indeed. Definitely would stay here again, lovely people running the hotel and working in it !
Review 69:The folk band went on far too long on the Saturday night
Review 70:The location is great, staff were superb- very friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent.
Review 71:i booked a double room but when i got there it was a twin room, this was quickly remedede and the rest of the stay was very good.
Review 72:almost everything rooms were clean and comfortable, staff were very friendly and helpful overall a very pleasant stay .i will go back again
Review 73:Wifi was slow
Review 74:We arrived town late at 8pm. Checked in at the pub, and had a quick bite before dinner time finished at 9pm. Food was ok, as you would have expected for pub food at reasonable price. Breakfast the next morning was good. Plenty of parking on the side streets nearby. Restaurant Fish for Mhor opposite was worth trying.
Review 75:the double room was smaller tham the twin, so recommend going for a twin. no parking but we did find a place on the street with no problem.
Review 76:clean, modern rooms and friendly, helpful staff. good location right on thr main street. decent pub food.
Review 77:The bed could have been a little more comfortable.
Review 78:In a beautiful village, friendly, prompt, efficient service. Great breakfast. Rooms were clean and quiet. Would love to return.
Review 79:Rooms at the front of the hotel suffered from road noise - particularly at dawn when goods traffic seemed to move early - may not be as much of a problem at weekends
Review 80:Location in the town and the Trossachs area generally were very good; also good for access to all the main cities (Edinburgh / Glasgow / Stirling. That the family room sleeping 4 catered for my particular family group in one room which is unusual. And the staff.
Review 81:Room was a bit small and bed was not very comfortable.
Review 82:The friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food. Also the location. Have stayed here four times now and would stay here again but in another room.
Review 83:The Service in the Restaurant was extremely poor.
Review 84:The room would be ok for one night. Even though everything about it is old. But the price for a twin of 85 is too much.
Review 85:The family room catered for under fives sharing one bed and a charge was made to have an extra fold up bed as older kids cannot share. this was not specified on the website as a drop down section clearly gives the customer a choice of bed layout when booking. The cooked breakfast was not good as you only get a half sausage, half b.pudding, half haggis on your plate and the tattie scone was uncooked. On our second day the cups from the room were taken away and not brought back. The room was cold when we arrived and the heating wasnt working even though i reported it. The bathroom wasnt very clean either. no bag in the bin. I also had to clean the kettle before use as it had a lot of sediment lying in it.
Review 86:Large family room. comfortable, own key to enter at anytime. Good shower
Review 87:There wasn't much not to like at the hotel, yes decor is a bit tired but is in keeping with rural Scottish town location and character. Bar music a bit loud on Saturday night, but having said that, if I had not been so tired myself, after exploring the region, I would have been downstairs joining in.
Review 88:Very comfortable bed, spacious room and good hot water supply for bath or shower. Excellent full Scottish breakfast, with other buffet choices available. Good on street parking, either outside the hotel, or in nearby side road. Friendly and obliging staff, with good service given. Didn't get chance to have dinner at the Waverley, but it was busy and seemed to be a popular place to dine. Overall would highly recommend for a pleasant stay with a reasonable tariff.
Review 89:Nothing comes to mind!
Review 90:This is the second time we have stayed at TheWaverley Hotel and yet again we couldn't recommend it highly enough. We tour on motorbikes and yet again we were asked if we would like our motorbikes locked up in the Hotels covered delivery area to keep them dry and secure. It's also the only hotel I know that actually take you personally to your room, chatting all the way ensuring we have all the information we need and making sure we are happy with everything. The first time we stayed we were cutting it a little tight on our arrival time to be able to order food in the hotel before the kitchen was due to close for the night, but when we informed the owner that we intended to eat he told us to go and freshen up in our room and he would let the kitchen know to wait for us and our food order. The staff are friendly, attentive and welcoming.
Review 91:Nothing.
Review 92:This hotel is easy to locate and free parking is available on the street. The room was clean and comfortable and the en-suite looked new. We didn't have an evening meal there but the breakfast was very tasty and the lady serving our breakfast was lovely! The bar was busy and friendly and the drinks were very reasonably priced. We would definitely stay again.
Review 93:front facing room on main road - in the summer with windows open .. the road from the Isles! ..but hey ho that's life and the Hotel and buzzing, active main street with local shops more than made up for this
Review 94:facilities, staff and food
Review 95:The noise from the beer garden whilst trying to sleep. Someone's sweet wrap under the bed when we arrived
Review 96:The locations was good And the shower was excellent.
Review 97:Food not so good as over cooked : had fish & chips and the batter on the fish was very dry. Breakfast bacon was like sole, could not cut it with my knife, lorn sausages were far from nice.
Review 98:Staff very friendly, room clean, nice location. Breakfast big (- bad sausages & bacon).
Review 99:The staff didn't clean our room! We had to ask for it to be cleaned, and for towels, and even when we asked, the job that was done was not very thorough. There's no hotel parking. We wound up parking behind the nearby church, which was fine, but plan ahead.
Review 100:Being an older building, the rooms are big with high ceilings, which is nice. There is room to spread out. You're right on the main street, so all the shopping, like the Co-op supermarket is within very easy walking distance. Breakfast was good and the morning staff was great.
Review 101:The only thing I didn't particularly like - and this is very petty - was the fact that there wasn't an electric socket by the mirror so I was unable to look in the mirror to straighten my hair without standing on one of the beds!!
Review 102:The location of this Hotel was excellent and while there isn't a car park there is plenty of on street parking and a public car park within walking distance. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We have dinner in the bar and I have to say it was really good and value for money. Later the bar was a busy little hub with live music. Breakfast was included in the price of our stay and was really good, even though I couldn't eat it all! The hotel was clean and the rooms simple but comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would stay again.
Review 103:I found the room very cold and tried to put the radiator on but it was obviously off at the main.I also did not like the fact I had to pay an extra £10.00 for tea making facilities and TV which usually come as standard in all hotels.
Review 104:Loved the location right on the main street and the breakfast was fantastic which set you up for the day.
Review 105:The hotel is well situated in the town. The staff were helpful, the room was comfortable and clean. The water was hot. Dinner &breakfast were both good. We didn't have any noise in the evening, so that was great.
Review 106:The beds were quite uncomfortable. There was live music downstairs in the restaurant on Saturday night. This place was advertised as family friendly, however the live music kept our family awake well past midnight.
Review 107:The location was great. Right on the Main street in Callendar, we could walk to everything.
Review 108:Friendly staff,, also has a very good bar and restaurant.
Review 109:Everything
Review 110:The restaurant food.
Review 111:The restaurant food wasn't to good. Got a bad food poisening after eating smoked salmon. Staff was friendly.
Review 112:the only problem,we were trying to have lunch in restaurant while there were kids crawling about the floor and screaming the place down
Review 113:Meal was disappointing in the bar
Review 114:Clean rooms
Review 115:Great hotel have recommended to friend he has already booked in and I will be back next year
Review 116:Room was a bit small Breakfast was ok, could have been better
Review 117:Dinner was lovely, Good Location, Friendly Staff
Review 118:right on main street
Review 119:Carpet in room was very frayed all round edges. Made it look pretty awful.
Review 120:Very friendly and helpful staff. Food great!
Review 121:Faulty toilet!
Review 122:Food very good, service excellent, comfortable rooms
Review 123:Nothing
Review 124:Happy atmosphere
Review 125:Excellent service genuinely friendly excellent food and excellent atmosphere in the bar
Review 126:Only 1 cup on first night and a chip out of another the second night. Bed valance was stained.
Review 127:The location and staff were friendly
Review 128:Quiet location and beautiful scenery
Review 129:Lovely breakfast
Review 130:Great hotel in great location friendly staff and superb breakfast
Review 131:Friendly and helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere. No car park but good on street parking.
Review 132:The hygiene standards were below par.
Review 133:The staff were accommodating and friendly.
