Reviews for Greyhound Inn
Review 1:The room was on the corner of the inn which was adjacent to a main road which had lorries trundling past at 2 a.m. The bathroom was not heated & the shower rather small.
Review 2:The room was a good size & pleasantly furnished. The staff were friendly & both dinner & breakfast were excellent.
Review 3:Really didn't live up to expectations. The room and en-suite left a great deal to be desired cleanliness-wise; I slept in my tights to avoid direct contact with the carpet the next morning!! We were glad this was just a necessary stop-over and not for a lengthier period - and we didn't even 'stop over' for breakfast (although it was included in the price). There was, sadly, nothing in this Inn to recommend to others or to call us back. Having said that, perhaps we were just 'unlucky' as regards room allocation and date of visit. We have hated having to write this as we know how hard our English inns try to please, and so far we have rarely been disappointed. As said, we were probably just unlucky on the day.
Review 4:Having to check out and go back to reality.
Review 5:Everything, large, clean, double en-suite room with a 2 seater setee, tasty evening meals, superb breakfasts, friendly manager, staff and locals and Ozzie the pub labrador.
Review 6:Bar area a bit dull could do with brightning up, also exterior looking tired.
Review 7:Very good food. Room very spacious, clean and comfortable. Would stay again.
Review 8:Door banging down stairs when people come in and out.
Review 9:Staff very helpful and friendly. Chef is brilliant, best breakfast we have ever had. Evening meals are great and the Chef's Fish chips and mushy peas are A++++++++++++++++ and that is Coming from someone who loves fish and chips.
Review 10:Booked a 2 night stay here with my wife and 9 month baby.We decided to stay here as we had come to see our son passout at Catterick. We had a 4 hour journey so by the time we arrived our baby girl needed to be fed changed ect, which was obviously our main priority. We were greeted by a black dog and a smell i can only describe as a musty damp.We were eventually taken to our room where we had requested a cot we didnt say nothing about spiders, woodlice or dead flies not to mention the pet hair/dirt on the pieced together carpets, cobwebs or toothpaste left on the tap.To say this "room" needed cleaning is an understatement the entire building just blends together. We were also told by the pint puller/entertainer that we could not order food as it was 8.45 and the chef had left (when it clearly stated on a menu board that food is served until 9pm).I asked to speak to the manager, when he eventually arrived he said that the information on the menu is "misleading"while shaking his head like i had interupted what he was doin. When we had been and seen our son paasout at Catterick we decided to return home,we had such a wonderful time and did not want it to be spoilt by ill mannered people who were supposed to be your hosts.I went to pay our bill and was told that "you will still have to pay the £160.00 even though are not staying another night".My reply"i didnt expect anythink less". To think that our son puts his life on the line for this kind ...well beggars belief.
Review 11:We could not fault.
Review 12:Friendly, with an excellent can do attitude. I would highly recommend this accommodation to my friends and family. When we visit N Yorkshire in the future we will most definitely stay at the Greyhound Inn.
Review 13:Welcoming staff seemed genuinely interested friendly locals. Great selection of real beers in the pub. A fantastic menu selection and the food was beautifully cooked and in good sized portions.
Review 14:Pub/restaurant would have had a nicer ambience if a little music was playing.
Review 15:A lovely welcome, a lovely room, great food. Perfect for touring local area. Lovely friendly Labrador!
Review 16:Nothing here to not like!
Review 17:Excellent all round. Very helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable, clean, good sized room. Superb breakfast. Our dog was made very welcome. Good value for money.
Review 18:asked about central heating, radiator cold and was told heating on timer, heating didn't come on during evening/night/morning, but there was a small electric heater. Window nailed shut, so no fresh air. Dogs allowed to wander about bar and dining rooms where people eat food, something I dislike.
Review 19:Food good, staff friendly, well stocked bar. Comfortable room, coffee/tea maker, digital tv, large wardrobe with big chest of drawers, nice big double bed.
Review 20:Mattresses were very soft but that's just my preference for hard.
Review 21:The atmosmosphere of of good country inn. Shooting parties were in and guests from all over the uk. Full english was top drawer. bedrooms were a really dood size.
Review 22:Food was excellent customer service second to none, lovely room and excellent comfy bed. Would recommend to anyone will definitely visit again. Thank you
Review 23:Bed was too soft for my liking , just a personal thing.
Review 24:I walked in with a work colleague and I think we halved the average age, and I'm 50. Not meant in a bad way , it is a very nice village pub. Food was excellent , and staff were very accommodating as we were late in arriving due to traffic.
Review 25:Nothing to dislike apart from the weather
Review 26:Possibly the best night's sleep I've had away from home in a very long time; despite warnings that it might not work in all rooms, Wi-Fi reception was excellent. Food was superb
Review 27:Ensuite very small and no bath but not unusaul for this type of accommodation. All we needed really.

Review 32:My daughter, 3 yr old grandaughter and I had a lovely stay, my daughter is a vegan and they went out of their way to cater for her, Mike is lovely, as is his gorgeous dog Ozzie. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely visit again.
Review 33:There was a draught from the old windows, but there was a heater in room if to cold.
Review 34:The food was excellent, marvellous menu and good quality food, the breakfast was cooked to order. The rooms were good and the bed was superb, would take it home if I could. The room was lovely and quiet. It was a welcome break away from the hustle and bustle of things back home.
Review 35:Their pet dog as lovely as he was, sitting at breakfast table looking for food. Wifi did not work in bedroom.
Review 36:Not much. Owners not very welcoming. Had to ask barstaff about breakfast times, wifi codes and check out time as owner showed us to bedroom then left without explaining anything to us.
Review 37:There are no negative comments to make .
Review 38:The location of the Inn was just far enough out if Bedale that is a lovely market town. The food- particularly at dinner ( steak night) was absolutely wonderful - all served by the pleasant landlord who made our stay very comfortable. Would definately stay again
Review 39:Very welcoming to both ourselves and our dog. We ate in the hotel both nights and the food was excellent and good value for money. Our room was a good size and very comfortable.
Review 40:The weather on the Saturday! Otherwise nothing.
Review 41:It is a quiet country pub with good beers, nice, friendly publican and very good and comfortable accommodation. The room was a good size, the bed comfortable we had a very good nights sleep. The next morning an excellent breakfast was served by a very friendly lady. We also enjoyed the company of the landlords black labrador dog.
Review 42:The shower in our room was either freezing or boiling, no in-between option. Of greater concern was the lack of welcome and general surliness offered by the Landlord. Whether we caught him on a bad day or he simply didn't like us, but he was taciturn at best, muttered under his breath whilst walking away from a simple request and generally made us feel like we were a significant imposition upon him. Although I would recommend the Greyhound for it's food and rooms, I'd have serious reservations recommending someone stay based on the rudeness we encountered.
Review 43:The food at the Greyhound is excellent with a varied and very reasonable menu. We stayed in the Family Room which was well equipped and comfortable. The staff were polite and friendly other than the landlord...
Review 44:It's a bit out of the way which meant that we had to take the car out to Bedale just to get cash.
Review 45:The room was clean and very comfortable. The decor was probably a bit dated but it was certainly good value for money. The breakfast was both huge and delicious. I would highly recommend the Greyhound Inn.
Review 46:I arrived late which seemed to annoy the landlord as he was busy with the local boules tournament.
Review 47:The room was wonderful, the bed comfortable and the food adequate.
Review 48:Stayed for three nights, enjoyed the friendliness of the manager/staff & 'Ozzie' the dog. The standard of food was excellent for both breakfast and evening meals. Rooms very comfortable with clean and fresh linen & towels.

Review 96:Only booked this accommodation on the morning that we were due to travel but it was a delight! The room was enormous and spotlessly clean. We only had the breakfast but could not fault it. The service and staff were second to none. Would highly recommend it.
Review 97:Cold shower when we arrived at 6pm the excuse being that the kitchen staff must have used it all. Was offered an alternative room but having already unpacked presumed we would have hot water the next morning so didn't bother. Big mistake hot water for 30 seconds only. We were not given an apology or even offered a free drink. Needless to say we won't be going back.
Review 98:The room was very nice although very draughty as expected with old sash windows.
Review 99:Room was cold when we first arrived but soon warmed up when the owner put the radiator on.
Review 100:A lovely homely pub Hotel with good hospitality and good food which was cooked well and a great choice. We used this as a stopping of point travelling from Scotland to Essex and it was Ideal, a good breakfast sent us on our way feeling well rested and fed.
Review 101:We had a great warm welcome to a beautiful pub where the evening food and breakfast was fantastic the room was clean and comfortable would stay again x
Review 102:the bathroom was basic - a poor electric shower the price was too high in relation to what was offered the rating of 8.9 was far too high and determined our choice
Review 103:The room was good The food was a good pub grub
Review 104:Cold room (problems with CH when we were there); dodgy bathroom door (v.hard to open from inside)

Review 108:we didn't like the dog ozzie around the breakfast table in the morning, he was a lovely dog and it was fine in the pub as it was his home but not at meal times as he seemed to want feeding from the table
Review 109:Meals were of an excellent standard
Review 110:always friendly and welcoming, beds comfortable food good. we made a mistake with our booking, not requesting enough nights but the landlord had new nearby accommodation sorted for us before we realised, could not have been more helpful or lovely about what was, after all our mistake. will go back.
