Cottage Lodge is set in the Victorian village of Brockenhurst, nestled in the heart of the New Forest National Park. This charming 17th-century residence offers cosy rooms, as well as tea, coffee and cake on arrival.
Cottage Lodge is a friendly, family-run property offering 12 comfortable hotel-style bedrooms. All of the rooms have en suite facilities with a bath or a shower. The standard rooms are the equivalent of a 2-star hotel room and the superior rooms are the equivalent of 3-star hotel accommodation. All rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, TVs and hairdryers. Parts of the building date back to 1650 and still feature beautiful period features, such as original wooden beams, handmade bricks and ship timbers. The lodge’s rich history means it has a wealth of character and original charm.
Reception closes for check-in at 20:00. Cottage Lodge is a quirky, family run guest house that was awarded Most Sustainable Tourism Business in England 2008 and was a finalist in the Best Bed and Breakfast in South East awards.
The village of Brockenhurst has 3 pubs, 7 restaurants, a train station, a petrol station and various shops. The lodge is just 4 minutes’ walk from open forest, but if you prefer to explore on horseback or by bike, horse riding and bicycle hire are available in the village.

Reviews for Cottage Lodge

Review 1:very tiny criticism, there was teamaking offered in the room, but no milk.

Review 2:really homely rooms, free coffee on arrival, friendly welcome and super choice at breakfast. nice touch to have allocated parking space!

Review 3:Wonderful, clean accommodation with a bed that was so comfortable I slept like a baby. A must visit for a peaceful break. I am looking forward to a second visit.

Review 4:Very soft bed, dark room, no TV signal or wifi signal. Not enough space to dry towels.

Review 5:Staff very friendly and free coffee and cake every day. Nice choice of free films to see on DVDs.

Review 6:bit more time to check out and roads nearby makes cycling hard and bit expensive these days

Review 7:It was likable , woman who owns it is okay , good privacy and near forest and town , access to everywhere

Review 8:Brockenhurst very small and quiet. Not a bad thing, we just preferred Lyndhurst when we visited.

Review 9:Perfect accommodation for a night away. Lovely welcoming staff.

Review 10:Relaxed but professional staff. Our welcome set the very high standard of the remainder of our stay. The Fallen Tree restaurant is a real bonus serving excellent, reasonably priced fare.

Review 11:Perfect for our needs. We enjoyed having our own entrance so we didn't interrupt others when we returned from visiting friends. We had everything we needed

Review 12:WiFi is not guaranteed in each room so when booking I would request a room with WiFi access if it is important to your stay. The snug and breakfast room has connection, but not all the bedrooms.

Review 13:The room was really comfortable and I liked the unique style of the place, with the cosy snug room. Welcoming staff and the option of breakfast or not. Just great value for money, will certainly use again.

Review 14:Nothing, it was all good.

Review 15:The lady who welcomed us was extremely welcoming and friendly. The place was spotlessly clean and comfortable, extremely good cake for money and there was s much free cake as you liked which for me, is always a winner!

Review 16:I couldn't link up to the wifi. We had a problem with hot water on the third morning, but I did mention it to Christine and it was not the end of the world!

Review 20:- was unsure how to turn heating down when room got too hot.

Review 22:Difficult to read the Lodge sign hanging outside from a reasonable distance. (the writing was too pale)

Review 23:Owner (Christina) and staff were very friendly Breakfast good choice Pride in the establishment was conveyed in the historical and source facts for guests to read

Review 24:nothing - everything was great

Review 25:The particular efforts made to welcome the guests, including the allocated parking place. This was a truly excellent place to stay.

Review 26:Small point, it May be better to have blinds on the door instead of nets they really get in the way.

Review 27:Location was right for our Needs in the new forest. Breakfast was Great, Room clean and met our Needs. Nothing apeared too much trouble. Like the personal parking Nice touch felt values as a visitor

Review 29:A lovely room, with everything we needed

Review 30:Superb location in Brockenhurst. Lovely room, comfy bed, massive bathroom and gorgeous breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble! Will definately stay again.

Review 31:Only small neg is we had to stay in two different rooms which wasn't a problem but the first room we stayed in wasn't as luxurious as the second room which had been advertised. Both rooms were at the same price other than that a fantastic stay highly recommend.

Review 32:Fantastic B&B, great staff, brilliant location and very accommodating.

Review 33:The accommodation was a little disappointing, very much basic B&B standard. Room old fashioned and basic.

Review 34:Bathroom nice, staff nice, very clean and good breakfast.

Review 35:The New Forest is lovely, but as it's a tourist hot spot things tend to be rather expensive.

Review 36:It was quirky, friendly staff and comfortable... with free cake!

Review 37:Nothing much. Would have liked a garden, our patio was shared with another guest couple. Maybe the snug could be more like a small lounge

Review 38:The location in the New Forest. Wonderful staff, nothing was too much trouble Food Excellent bathroom, though would prefer a walk in shower

Review 39:Loved the thoughtful aspects such as the cake on arrival and the snug room where they had cycle and walking routes printed in a folder for you to take.

Review 40:Great location, friendly staff and great comfortable rooms!

Review 56:Liked everything but, although we did not partake of the breakfast, it looked brilliant

Review 57:Good stuff and environment

Review 58:The guest house was to a very good standard and vey friendly, the only downside was they allow dogs.In my opinion a no no

Review 59:The bed was too soft for us, however that is a personal thing.

Review 60:Excellent breakfast with good quality food. Name on parking space which was good.

Review 61:Storage space limited

Review 62:Having fresh milk for tea and coffee, the lovely old building, the cake was delicious and a nice extra.

Review 63:Friendly staff, Great location and perfect bedroom. Will certainly return for another stay :)

Review 64:Quite & convenient

Review 65:Excellent stay and very welcoming hosts.

Review 66:no dislikes

Review 67:everything was great and a wonderful location

Review 68:nothing

Review 69:loved the area loved the food very good. staff very nice

Review 70:Friendly staff and service, great rooms, excellent restaurant with locally sourced produce. Even had our own allocated parking space.

Review 71:The room was lovely. Great facilities and breakfast.

Review 72:I dont have a bad word to say about the hotel or our stay.

Review 73:Immaculately clean. Staff couldnt be more friendly. Lovely village setting. Rooms are bright and well furnished. Food in the restaurant was the best i've had in years and very reasonably priced with a good selection

Review 74:The fact that the tariff was room only with breakfast extra. I found an excellent café serving at 1/2 price at Lodge 2 for the price of 1!!

Review 75:Very good location easy access to the forest, quiet and peaceful with good facilities

Review 76:Thanks so much for an amazing stay! We loved everything from the proximity to train station (walking distance), to the location in terms of easy accessibility to all the different hikes, the comfort and warmth of the rooms, the products provided, the friendly and helpful staff and also, the snug was a personal favourite with the honesty bar!! What a great idea

Review 77:My only very small criticism would be the empty packet of used tablets that was on the bedside table presumably left by previous guests which made me question the cleaning of the room. That said it appeared to be spotless otherwise.

Review 78:Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were spacious and well equipped. The 'Snug' in the entrance has an honesty bar with a great selection of wines and drinks and also courtesy homemade cake whenever you fancy which is a really nice touch. I would absolutely stay here again.

Review 79:Fireplace in common area, good localisation for walking, complimentary scons, close range to restaurants and pubs, good atmosphere in Foresters Arms pub.

Review 80:Bathroom was a little small and old fashioned

Review 81:Location is great, right in the centre of the New Forest and with plenty restaurants in walking distance. Breakfast was very nice.

Review 82:Nothing not to like.

Review 83:This is a wonderful cosy retreat offering a warm welcome to all. The 'snug' with a roaring fire and plenty of free tea and cake was especially nice. We had the continental breakfast and it was ample, including porridge and locally sourced honey. There are some really good pubs and restaurants within walking distance. We recommend the 'Snakecatcher' for excellent food and good ambiance.

Review 84:Nothing at all!

Review 85:The friendly and efficient staff made us feel so welcome. Our room was lovely, warm and comfortable. A really nice visit - we will recommend Cottage Lodge to our friends.

Review 86:Room was freezing during the night, so cold that we couldn't actually sleep properly. Couldn't find the place to begin with because postcode just directs to the road, tried ringing but the only phone line was engaged for over half an hour.

Review 87:Large room, comfortable bed, private entrance.

Review 88:Didn't realise I had booked a 'room only' deal online at a 'bed & breakfast' establishment, Everything else very good.

Review 89:Excellent location in heart of New Forest. I came for a business seminar, but will return soon for some leisure time

Review 90:I was welcomed with a cup of tea and an offer of cake even though I was a couple of hours early my room was ready. It was clean , light and very comfortable. I slept well and although did not eat there, I could see that the food was being well enjoyed by other guests. I'll definitely book again when I am next working in the area.

Review 91:There was nothing I didn't like

Review 92:The rooms were lovely, the bed was comfortable and the showers were amazing. Such good value! I would stay here again

Review 93:Never booked a B&B before and then had to pay extra for breakfast.Think this should be made more clear on booking. £5 for a continentalbreakfast of which there was little choice was ott and £10 for a fullEnglish?!!! I saw some of those being served and was mighty pleased Ihadn't ordered that. Could have got a very good full English downthe road for half the price.

Review 94:Clean and friendly.

Review 95:Closed for dinner on Wednesdays, which was the day of my birthday!

Review 96:Offer of cold drink on arrival, fresh milk for tea/coffee, free cake a nice touch. Room comfortable and spotless with good quality pillows. Great location in middle of village.

Review 97:My only very minor negative comment if I was being highly critical would be that accessing wifi via your own device can be difficult but frankly this is exactly the sort of place that one would hope to arrive at to get away from it all. Relax, enjoy the hotel, the village and the new forest.

Review 98:I've stayed twice. Firstly on my own on business and secondly on a break with my wife ... a truly wonderful place in a fabulous location. I never got to sample the evening meals (wednesdays closed) but believe them to be first class.

Review 99:Nothing.

Review 100:Atmosphere very welcoming. Staff very genuine and helpful. Lovely touches like cake and drinks on arrival. Old fashioned hospitality. Breakfast lovely with great selection of local produce. Will definitely be back!

Review 101:Nothing to dislike

Review 102:The friendly helpful staff Excellent bedroom and En-Suite Good standard of cleanliness Christina (the owner) greeted everybody at breakfast and passed on ideas of what to do that day.

Review 103:We had a delightful room (if on the small side, but we were late booking) but had to access it from outside. Fortunately it didn't rain during our stay, but it was cold coming and going in the winter and we'd have preferred being in the house.

Review 104:The welcome from Chris and her staff was very warm. She is a natural hostess and made us feel cery much at home. The restaurant for evening meals, run separately but in house, is excellent. It's a very pleasant dining room, breakfasts were delicious.

Review 105:Can't think of a thing we were unhappy with, and there are not many B&B's you can say that about.

Review 106:Such a comfortable, friendly B&B.Nice touch to have fresh milk with the tea facilities. Rooms are beautifully clean with pristine bedding and wonderfully comfortable mattresses. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast with plenty of variety. Added advantage of having a newly opened evening restaurant within the premises. Lovely ambiance. Great to have allocated parking.

Review 107:Staff wonderful. Cottage very cosy. Loved the fresh milk, fresh produce and felt very welcomed. Only thing I'd say is water was slow and painstaking and at 9am builders started working in room right next door so the lay in I wanted was ruined. Would stay again however this was hopefully a one off.

Review 108:The room we had, Gillies Holt, was beautifully decorated and spacious with it's own private entrance. We enjoyed the fact that the village had every amenity you could want from nice pubs to a little Tesco and a cashpoint. The staff were wonderful and the owner, Christina, was very helpful and welcoming. We would definitely go back and will recommend to our friends.

Review 109:The only downside, for tall people, are the low ceilings and beams, but as long as you remember to duck when necessary it's fine.

Review 110:We loved the location as it is in the very heart of the New Forest and in the centre of the village with all its lovely little shops. It is also very handy for other places of interest, such as Lymington, Beaulieu etc. The welcome was warm and friendly, the room was cosy and the breakfast was yummy, with locally sourced produce.

Review 111:Most uncomfortable bed I have slept in for a long time. It was so soft that every time my husband moved the whole bed would bounce and woke me up so two sleepless night. Would not stay there again for that reason.

Review 112:Very good breakfast. Pretty room.

Review 113:Small things, but the place felt a bit penny-pinching. One rasher ofbacon for breakfast!! Glasses of wine could have been free of charge inthe snug; it would have cost the management a negligible amount. Thebreakfast coffee should have been served in a cafetiere - again, anegligible cost - because the stuff we got tasted like instant coffee, and was served in one of those steel jugs one finds in every transportcafe in the country. It was, to be honest, hardly drinkable. Sobreakfast was a let-down, and it cost us £10 a head - a cost, incidentally, we thought we had covered with the booking. I thinkBooking.Com should make it clearer that b'fast is not included.

Review 114:The staff were terrific

Review 115:Absolutely nothing.

Review 116:The management and staff were wonderful. Christina was aware that we were spending our wedding anniversary at the hotel so she upgraded our room and served breakfast in the room. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, especially Magda who received us on a busy Sunday afternoon and was charm and helpfulness personified. Cottage Lodge will become a bolt-hole for us, we're really pleased we found it.

Review 117:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 118:We were made very welcome from the moment we arrived at Cottage Lodge to the time we checked out. Everybody was friendly, helpful and welcoming. We were made to feel special. The room was excellent and comfortable and the breakfast choice and quality superb. All the facilities of Brockenhurst were on our doorstep.

Review 119:Ran out of fruit cake

Review 120:Stayed here Sunday over monday, warm and welcoming, help "yourself tocake" wonderful fourposter bed in our room. The owner made herself knownat breakfast and taking time to chat to each table of guests. Wouldrecommend and stay again.

Review 121:We booked on line we were confused with what we paid and what was due!Our fault for not reading the small print it was sorted in the end nexttime we will book direct1

Review 122:We couldn,t have been better looked after.it was so relaxing! A veryfilling breakfast,a good start to the day!
