Reviews for St Peters Bed and Breakfast
Review 1:A small problem was that we upgraded to the cottage annexe without realising this involved going up and down stairs to the bathroom/loo
Review 2:Friendly host and good location
Review 3:I liked the fact that I had my own little cottage, and also Kelvin is super-helpful - he even backed my car out of the driveway as I am such a terrible driver!
Review 4:The clock of the church should be managed with ear plug to spend a calm night!
Review 5:The cottage was really charming at the heart of this stunning village! we used to stay many times at Sandwich and always eager to come back. The owner is very nice and talkative which is a real plus.
Review 6:first 2 days the church bells every 15 minutes drive you nuts, but then you get used to them!
Review 7:great welcome, very obliging, and informative people.very friendly and couldnt do enough to make our stay welcome
Review 8:Not a thing! Absolutely loved this lovely B & B and received nothing but friendliness and hospitality - do not hesitate to book
Review 9:Kelvin is an amazing host with such a passion for his beautiful property. Everything exceeded our expectations and would highly recommend
Review 10:There was nothing at all that we did not like.
Review 11:The accommodation was immaculate and the bed was extremely comfortable, and strangely we found the church bells ringing very soothing! Breakfast was spot on too.
Review 12:Wifi did not work for us and we were on the 1st floor, so would expect it to. Some people complain about the church clock chiming all night but we were fine and hardly noticed them.
Review 13:Friendly owner, and allowed us to park our mini on his driveway
Review 14:Great breakfast. Kelvin is informative about things to do, lent us his bikes to cycle to deal. The ringing bells didn't impact us at all in night.
Review 15:Found house a little untidy, and not too comfortable with one table for all when having breakfast, our fellow guest where from Germany and Holland which was very informative and enjoyable but felt personal space was limited, just a personal comment.
Review 16:We stayed in the little flat, it was very adequate and we enjoyed out stay.
Review 17:Whilst I quite liked the bells (I can sleep through anything), be aware that they do ring all through the night apparently.
Review 18:Incredibly friendly and welcoming. Nothing too much trouble.
Review 19:Friendly owners, character house in avert central location. Excellent choice at breakfast, good quality food and drinks, the owner even got some local apple juice for me, really nice touches. Room and bathroom excellent, would recommend to friends etc.
Review 20:No problem for us, but some might be put off by the church bells opposite and the lack of parking on site. However, there was plenty of parking nearby and the bells were quite gentle.
Review 21:Good location at the heart of the town, lovely old building and friendly host. Lots of conversation at breakfast, which was copious and well-cooked. Loved the Folk and Ale festival.
Review 22:The location of the B & B was excellent - right in the heart of historic Sandwich. The owner (Kelvin) and his wife could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable. The room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious - and as much as you could eat!
Review 23:The belles ringing all night long from the church opposite the house.
Review 24:Right in the town, very convenient for shops and the historic sites.lovely house, lovely place
Review 25:Didn't realise we had to ask for the room to be serviced, never come across that before, maybe point this out to guests. The washbasin pop-up waste was broken and looked like it had been for some time. Towels rather hard & scratchy. Hospitality tray basic - unwrapped teabags, coffee, milk, sugar. No body lotion with comp bathroom items.
Review 26:The shower was great. Kelvin a wonderful host, very welcoming and obliging.
Review 27:Incredibly accommodating and friendly owner who gave us lots of tips about the local area. Very clean room and fantastic breakfast! Would highly recommend.
Review 28:Kelvin and Marisol were wonderful hosts. They were extremely accommodating to all our needs and lovely to talk to. The b & b is spotless and could not possibly be in a better location. Don't be put off that one room says 'outside bathroom'. That's the room we had. The bathroom is exclusively yours and it's big! We were also allowed to spend some time in the cottage and it's beautiful. Well worth the small amount extra you would pay.
Review 29:Kelvin and Marisol were great hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was superb. St. Peters is in a lovely location and Kelvin was very knowledgeable about the area.
Review 30:The bathroom could have done with a deep clean although was ok. If one were staying here self catering the solitary knife and fork could have posed a problem! Beware if you are a light sleeper, the church bells sound every 15 minutes!
Review 31:Very sweet little cottage, friendly owner who was very willing to assist in any way he could. We had bikes, which he was very helpful in storing for us. Lovely breakfast.
Review 32:We slept wonderfully in this cosy B&B, had a great breakfast, and a really good overall experience. The owners were very forthcoming - we needed an early check-in and they even gave us a lift to our car. Very kind and interesting people. Had a good experience, would stay again!
Review 33:Very friendly, welcoming and helpful owners. Free use of bikes Right in the centre of Sandwich Lovely fruit at breakfast as well as the full english
Review 34:Extremely obliging and thoughtful hosts, combined with a really excellent location and superior beds make this a very relaxing and pleasurable stay. I really wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 35:Not really but a an excellent shower room/toilet lacked some "extras" such as a shaving mirror. Normally, I would have mentioned this but our departure was all a bit frantic.
Review 36:Felt very welcome/
Review 37:The only negative I'd have was that our bed was pretty hard and wasn't great to lie on. However, our friends staying in another room said their bed was really comfy...so perhaps we just had an older bed.
Review 38:The owner, Kelvin, and his wife cannot do more to make you feel comfortable. They're lovely people and the facilities are excellent. I've no idea if WiFi was available as we were going to a wedding and didn't need to use the internet. Our room and en suite was clean and tidy and breakfast the next morning was delicious.
Review 39:made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived the following morning we enjoyed a hearty breakfast before borrowing their guide to Sandwich and discovering the history of the port during a two hour walk.
Review 40:No complaints
Review 41:Faultless. Kelvin and Marisol gave us a warm welcome and a pot of tea on arrival. Our room was fabulous with an ensuite bathroom. Lovely breakfast with a choice of fresh fruit, cereal or full English The b+b was in the centre of town so perfectly located to explore the local area 10/10
Review 42:-Only criticism would be that it felt like a new business, they were building a new room when we were there and perhaps trying to get up on their feet a bit. You feel as though you are in their home. BUT should note that this did not impact our stay at all but may not be for everyone. -Parking limited
Review 43:-Warm welcome, the owners couldn't be helpful enough. -Lots of character in the house, room spacious with large bathroom and bath -Good breakfast, nice to talk to other guests around the table -Great central location
Review 44:Very clean and comfortable room, nice ambience of the dinning room, friendly and helpful stuff / owner, perfect English breakfast fresh made by the owner, nice location.
Review 45:Nothing.
Review 46:The service and attendance of the staff and care were maximum effort. With well accomadating staff for any dietary needs and always happy to help, and everso friendly.
Review 47:Nothing really.
Review 48:The accommodation was very good, well decorated, clean and pretty and very private being separate from the main house. The owners are really friendly and welcoming.
Review 49:- Fantastic location , in the centre of Sandwich by the Church. - Off road parking for our car (rare in central Sandwich) - The house is full of character. - Friendly welcome from the owners - Large and excellent recently refurbished bathroom . No hesitation in recommending. to others.
Review 50:The only thing that could be improved on was the cooked breakfast
Review 51:We stayed at St. Peter's bnb for 1 night, for a friends wedding at Preston court. Kelvin and his wife were very friendly and helpful and even gave us a lift to the venue! Our room was very cosy and clean, we had a great night sleep.
Review 52:The bed wasn't very comfortable and there was considerable noise disturbance from other guests. The stairs and landing creaked and the walls seemed pretty thin.
Review 53:The location, the layout of the rooms, and the ambience. We also liked and appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners.
Review 54:The sofa-bed could have been comfier.
Review 55:The owners were so friendly & helpful, made us feel right at home! We stayed in the cottage, it was very comfortable although the sofa-bed could have been comfier. The bells ring every hour but you could always use ear plugs, I guess the locals don't hear them anymore but the bells have rung for hundreds of years so why stop now? The breakfast was yummy, we had a vegetarian breakfast & it kept us going till lunch. The house still has it's character & we loved staying there. Thankyou!
Review 56:Cold cottage and bathroom. The heater and shower did not work properly and was an scolding accident waiting to happen!
Review 57:Location, owner, breakfast, advice on where to go and see,
Review 58:The car parking facilities are a bit tight but we did know that when we booked. Kelvin will back your vehicle in for you though if you are a bit worried about the tight space. The kitchen in our apartment had the usual facilities but the things that seemed to be missing were plates and cutlery.
Review 59:Liked the fact that we had a solo apartment with its own facilities. Kelvin and his wife were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. You felt very welcome as soon as you meet them. They also had excellent knowledge of the surrounding area.
Review 60:This is the perfect place to stay in historic Sandwich. The hosts are incredible and the accommodation is perfect. I frequently visit the town to visit family and I am always made to feel welcome.
Review 61:Our short stay at St Peters Guest House was just lovely. The apartment was compact and very comfortable, with good clean bed and nice surroundings. The Guest House is in a great location, centered amongst historical buildings and quaint Victorian houses.Lots of good restaurants, pubs, shops are nearby. There are lots to see and we walked for hours with great pleasure, then to the pub to relax and have a cool beer. Veron & K, London
Review 62:I really enjoyed my stay at St Peter's B&B. The room was immaculate, everyone was helpful and friendly and the breakfast was great. Will definitely stay here when next in Sandwich.
Review 63:The sugar and coffee in our room didn't look like it had been changed in a while, but no other faults could be found.
Review 64:The people who run this place are lovely. Really helpful and friendly. The room was gorgeous and the bathroom massive. Would definitely stay there again.
Review 65:My partner was a bit poorly at the time and it was very hot and humid at night too, so the bedroom window had to be open. Being opposite St Peter's church we hadn't realised the bells would ring on the quarter hour, every hour during the night. It didn't bother me much but my partner being poorly only got 1.5 hours sleep the first night! Kelvin kindly offered ear plugs for the second night, but we made do with closing the window. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked but I would have preferred free range eggs with a bit of colour in the yolk!
Review 66:Kelvin is a great host. Very helpful does a nice full breakfast and has plenty of cereals, fruits, yoghurts etc if a fry up isn't your thing. The room was comfortable, although if you wanted the window open it had to be all the way or nothing as the sash counterweight didn't quite work properly. The bathroom was very modern - fab shower and deep bath. Parking could have been a bit of a problem but a quick chat with his neighbour and we were able to use his space just along the road.
Review 67:The cottage is situated across the road from the church which chimes on the quarter hour and can be quite distracting when trying to sleep. Parking is very restricted and can only cater for the smaller car
Review 68:We had the one bedroom cottage which provided cooking facilities and a sink in the upstairs lounge. We had use of the garden if we wanted to have coffee outside. There are other rooms in the main house and everyone sits together for breakfast which is plentiful and varied. Our hosts were friendly and chatted when work permitted. The bed was very comfortable The location is two minutes from the quayside where there is a great fish and chip shop.
Review 69:St. Peter's church bells are definitively no problem! Staff are very friendly and hospitable; they made us feel at home. And breakfast is great, too.
Review 70:Kitchen can't really be used as such as there were no plates or cutlery, but that didn't bother us.
Review 71:As mentioned by other reviewers, borrowing the bikes was great. We arrived on a lovely sunny day and were able to explore the area immediately. The location could not be better, right in the centre of the town within easy reach of lots of great pubs. The george and Dragon in Fisher street was our fave.
Review 72:Although I thought they were lovely, I was disturbed quite a bit by the church bells which ring every 15 mins through the night - usually the room has ear plugs for guests who are light sleepers but unfortunately the room had run out and it was too late to ask by the time I realised. I would definitely go back and stay here again but this time would take some ear plugs!
Review 73:Beautiful location and room, and the owners were great - Kelvin came out to greet us and helped us find a parking space. We left our car overnight at the wedding we went to, and he even dropped us back to pick up the car so we didn't need to pay for another taxi. The breakfast was excellent as well.
Review 74:A radio in the room would have been good.
Review 75:Kelvin and Marisol were very welcoming and looked after us very well, including much welcome lifts from and to the station. Breakfasts were really good plus coffee at the drop of a hat ! The chiming of the church clock was actually quite nice !
Review 76:The staff was amazing, very friendly, willing to fill your needs, you feel like home and it is very refreshing to meet these kind of people. The room was great and the shower was terrific !
Review 77:Because I enjoyed so much about this lovely B & B, I do feel a tad mean-spirited commenting on the cleanliness aspect but there were a few surfaces which did need dusting/wiping. I confess I am a pedant!!
Review 78:Our host Calvin was wonderful ... nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent; the location perfect and the experience was very personalised and easy. A perfect respite after the frenzy of London!
Review 79:St. Peter's B&B was an absolute delight. We spent 5 days in the "cottage" which was very clean and comfortable. With a bird's eye view from the window we marvelled at the narrow streets and unspoiled architecture. We elected to have breakfast in the dining room of the house and were offered a wide selection of juices, cereals and platters of prepared fresh fruits. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his traditional English breakfast. Kelvin and Marisol could not have been kinder or more helpful. They made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our visit to their home, and the historic town of Sandwich.
Review 80:No TV in my room, which was surprise - just as well I brought my radio and newspaper with me ! And those ruddy (nearby) Church bells were quaint during the day but a pain when trying to sleep !!
Review 81:The room was comfortable - quaint even. The town is lovely and well worth a visit. The breakfast was hearty and the bathroom (including its walk-in shower) was excellent
