Reviews for Hotel de Gigaro

Review 1:The website did not honestly represent the hotel. According to that we should expect exceptional service at the three restaurants located on the beach within a few yards Each restaurant is operated individually although under the same ownership and the fact that we were staying at the hotel was completely ignored and we had to travel 20 kms to a restaurant for a meal. The swimming pool was of a good size but was murky with no staff around. All staff apart from cleaners were located in another hotel owned by the same people where a receptionist was on duty most of the time. Our expectations gained from the website were very high but the actuality was a great disappointment. The location was good 100 metres from the each but the mattresses etc were owned by another company owned by the hotel owners and could not be booked and with no arrangements for hotel guests. Good thing the sun shone while we were there

Review 2:Location

Review 3:Carpets at least 30 years old Toilet not working . Not allowed into theroom until 5 pm Had to change room after one night Second day ruinedbecause of changing rooms and not allowed in until 1 pm . No offer ofcompensation

Review 4:Leaving!!!

Review 5:Superb location. Comfortable rooms. The beach is only 150m away and there are matrasses and umbrellas available with a snack bar and two nice restaurants. Impossible to find something similar in the French Riviera.

Review 6:Hotel does have a dedicated beach area but you pay 15Euro extra for an umbrella and bed - didn't bother us as we didn't want these anyway but should really be included in room price especially for the more expensive rooms.

Review 7:Low key yet elegant and full of traditional Provencal charm, which is great as this is usually lost in bigger hotels in the south of France. Although not cheap, it's pretty reasonable compared with other hotels in the area. It's pretty local and French - and family orientated. Hotel positioned slightly back from the beach and down the road from the main hotel yet within 5 minutes walk of the beach (and the other hotel) - preferable in mid-summer as less busy than the sea front. Means it's more peaceful as road is a dead-end (eventually) so less traffic and road noise. Has parking which again is of benefit as you have to pay for this on the seafront and it's pretty limited meaning that many have to use one of the further car parks (about a km+ away which is a drag with kids) unless you arrive super early. Pool is a good size and child friendly and there is a tennis court. Free WiFi throughout (including by the pool). No age restriction for kids which is great; many hotels don't take under 7's in the area. Rooms good size including the family rooms. Very comfortable beds. All rooms have a view over the garden and are not overlooked. Buffet breakfast is on site, supper in the 2 restaurants on the beach owned by the hotel (it's a family run business), there's lots of choice and food is good. There's a bar with good cocktails next door, again with a view of the beach.

Review 8:The air conditioning unit directional flaps were very mouldy, and carpet was very old and worn. It was a little disappointing that the private beach owned by the hotel didn't offer any discounts for staying or eating at the beach restaurants.

Review 9:it was a great location, and great facilities esp pool and lounges. Room was nicely decorated and comfortable.

Review 10:Pool green for 2 days (can use pool at neighbouring hotel). No swimming towels left in room after first 2 nights...apparently they ran out and couldn't buy any more!!!

Review 11:Location short walk from beach, large room, aircon, wifi. Large swimming pool with loungers but all a bit scruffy....could do with a make over.

Review 12:Cannot rate the location or the hotel any higher we went Mid July 2015 and had the most perfect time - Location to all beaches/restaurants was excellent. Room was just right and loved the "quirky" feel of the hotel - Great to have a pool all to ourselves - 10/10 - Will definately return and thoroughly recommend

Review 13:Breakfast was very poor. We tried it once early in our stay. No fresh fruit salad left, only two rolls of Ham and a single roll of another continental meat. Several slices of German sausage which were not to our taste. Had to wait far too long for water to heat up to boil an egg. There were no croissants left and only two small pastries left Coffee out of the flasks was not satisfactory for us. Therefore we chose to go elsewhere for Breakfast. Swimming Pool On the first day of two on which we went the water was not circulating and the surface of the water was covered in flies and debris making it totally unacceptable for swimming. On the second occasion all was well. We have stayed at this hotel several times since 1990 and in the past have had the ability to have a deal with the Brigantine for evening meals which was a big attraction for us. Now that it doesn't operate the number of people has reduced and on the final evening that we went the place was as dead as a dodo apart from your excellent staff who made the evening as convivial as possible.

Review 14:Large Comfortable rooms. Clean, Fresh, Good Quiet Air Con, Helpful Staff, Nice Gardens, Excellent Free Parking

Review 15:No network GSM inside the room Too expensive for the services and for a simple 3 stars hotel No restaurant open after 2pm and no before 7.30pm The route is long and dangerous to drive toward the west side of St-Tropez

Review 16:Very quiet place & room cosy terrace and place near a beautiful beach

Review 17:Wonderfully quiet - I had the pool to myself most of the time Interesting other guests

Review 18:No reception facility and no written instructions as to where reception was down the road.

Review 19:Facilities, pool, tennis courts etc. Breakfast.

Review 20:Expensive given the lack of certain basic hotel facilities. In June it is only an annex of the main hotel so no reception staff, food or drink on site. They did not even provide a kettle in the room although would provide room service. The information said breakfast cost 19 euros in the main hotel which was ridiculously high. On the last two days, they served breakfast at Gigaro and it cost only 10 euros. Worth checking. The food and service in the Italian style restaurant (part of the hotel) was very mediocre so we did not try their more expensive option next door on the beach. There was nowhere to sit in the evenings apart from the room.

Review 21:superb location, lovely atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff (based at main hotel), beautiful swimming pool. Would go again but only after checking what facilities available for the price.

Review 22:Deco is aged and need to be refurbished Need to walk 3 minutes to join bar, restaurants of the hotel across the road at the beachside

Review 23:Quite quiet. We slept with windows opened and you are almost on your own : you feel being the owner of the house Almost on the beach

Review 24:70s decor, avocado toilet and bath suit, dirty in corners of room, can hear every other person come home and wake up and costs 300 plus euros a night! And if u don't book dinner in advance they won't serve you, even if there are loads of spare tables! Very frustrating and incomprehensible. We have stayed twice but will not be returning. No reception staff, you have to go 5 mins down the road to get keys. No batteries in TV remote! I would expect better in Africa!

Review 25:Lovely seaside town, 3 good beach front restaurants within 5 mins of hotel, beautiful bay, friendly locals. The pool was quiet ( we shared it with 2 other people during our 3 day stay!). Good to have a big double bed plus bunk beds for kids in 1 room, fridge and air con.
