Reviews for YHA Snowdon Bryn Gwynant
Review 1:The building needed some TLC, and some improvements would have been a big help, such as more power points, and radiators.
Review 2:Staff were great, Liam was helpful and answered all of my questions; and gave us great advice about the local area.
Review 3:mix up between Bookings.com and YHA meant we didn't get the room we ordered, not a major problem for us but worth checking if you need a specific room type
Review 4:Great location, good value and excellent kitchens to prepare own food
Review 5:I thought the cooked breakfast could have been better, but the evening meals were excellent.Having to go to the Coach House was not very good especially in the dark.
Review 6:The view and the location.
Review 7:Like towels, the hostel could provide soap and shampoo for a small price ... Post code is for the whole area, the GPS put us near a small village and said 'destination arrived' ! Keep a map or hotel contact numbers handy , cellphones may not have signal so be prepared !
Review 8:The location is heavenly ! The staff and the facilities were really nice, we would love to go again !
Review 9:The food wasn't that special but it filled your stomach. You could hear the snoring from the room next door.
Review 10:The rooms were warm and the staff was very nice. Toilet and shower facilities were all right. Location and view was great. The building was nice too.
Review 11:the room smelt like a toilet. we have young children the go to bed quite early but this was impossible as right above our bedroom was a communal room and you can hear everything it is unbelievably noisy until really late and every time the girls fell asleep they were awakened by really loud noises like jenga untill 11 o'clock at night. it states family friendly but i feel it is more suitable for older children.
Review 12:the area is beautiful and the staff were lovely. the breakfast was really good and the bedding was spotless
Review 13:A beautiful house in a remote (but accessible location). Though it is a hostel, we had a room to ourslves (low season) and it was warm and clean, and it had a toilet and a shower. The kitchen on the second floor of the same building is spacious and perfectly equipped and we had it all to ourselves. We really enjoyed our stay.
Review 14:Sausages a bit rubbery
Review 15:Amazing location and very friendly warden. First real youth hostelling that I have done since 1988 and they have changed and improved a lot since then.
Review 16:Room was rather hot with constant bright green light to show fire door.
Review 17:Really friendly staff. Children really enjoyed getting food from serving hatch and playing with the games in the library.
Review 18:The check-in time is very limited, we cannot even arrive before 5pm. There's no wi-fi.
Review 19:The hostel location is beautiful since it's near the lake.
Review 20:our room needed updating the beds were good but the window in the en suite would not close the toilet was difficult to flush and the whole thing needed attention and decorating. It was like a blast from the past. These are trades related repairs and not a reflection on the staff who work there.
Review 21:The staff were the most friendly and accommodating that I have ever met in a YHA establishment. The drying room was very efficient & the water was hot when needed
Review 22:The room we stayed in was a 5 bed private room with own bathroom and it needed a bit of tlc. It didn't feel as though the bathroom (shower especially) along with the windows had been cleaned in quite a while.
Review 23:The location and value for money were excellent. It was perfect for our walk up Snowdon.
Review 24:Twin bunk bedded room more like a broom cupboard with basin. Overpriced! Would have been nice to get a cup of tea before breakfast.
Review 25:Beautiful location, friendly staff. Arrived late evening, in the middle of an electricity power cut in the general area. Beat the local pud by making us a sandwich! ****
Review 26:No wifi, no phone signal at all on the property. The rooms are a little older and more tired than the pictures.
Review 27:The location was good, staff were friendly, beds were comfortable and shower/bathroom facilities were clean.
Review 28:Only got 2hrs sleep due to man next door who coughed non stop ALL night ! Rooms need sound proofing. Bunk bed creaky as anything, likewise bedroom floorboards. Sink had nasty crack in it. Bunk bed side lights did not work. Lack of wi fi .
Review 29:Location That you can add on a full breakfast. The stunning view. No traffic noise - peaceful. Clean bedding.
Review 30:No mobile signal in about 4-mile area. Great on the one hand, but should be stated in the offer as we had to let our relatives know we're OK.
Review 31:We spent two amazing nights in the Bryn Gwynant hostel. If you want to walk up Snowdon, it's a great starting point. The location of the hostel is simply great. We would like to come back:). What we liked: location, staff, our room, view. All nice and clean.
Review 32:Nothing.
Review 33:Beautiful building, well equipped for self catering but also do dinner and breakfast if need be, perfect location, snowdon very easy to access as well as surrounding walks. Opposite a beautiful lake. Beddgelert nearby has lots of nice pubs and places to eat. Definitely try the Prince Llewllyn, we were really impressed by their food.
Review 34:Some water leak in the bathroom. Sorted out quickly though.
Review 35:Nice view on the lake. Only 1 km away from Watkins route (one of the nicest routes to climb Snowdon). Very friendly personnel. Nice people around. Generally a nice hostel.
Review 36:Just not used to YHA dwellings. Not for me
Review 37:Never tried youth hostel before its standard is what you expect for cost. Not to my satisfaction but provided perfect location to Snowdonia. YHA dwellings are not my thing but good meals where offered and clean tidy rooms where available.
Review 38:everything, not sure i can fault anything really. ample parking, good sized rooms at a very reasonable price. great lounge area, good breakfast, great staff. drying room, self-catering kitchen.... and a great view over the lake.
Review 39:nearly all cookers in the self-catering kitchen were out of order, so it became really crowded at times
Review 40:nice staff, beautiful setting/house and great atmosphere, clean, right on the lake
Review 41:you get no cell reception and no data. the showers weren't clean.
Review 42:A lake. the mountains. this hostel is perfect for a weekend away with nature. amazing views. great staff.
Review 43:Mattress cover not dirty but not clean either. Poor sound insulation between rooms, especially between upstairs kitchen (above room 12 &13 building) and upstairs rooms.
Review 44:Staff was very friendly especially the staff at reception who waited till late in the night so that we could check in.
Review 45:staff members playing miserable music during the evenings couldn't drink your own alcohol - minor complaints though!
Review 46:views! kitchen facilities we weren't expecting a private bathroom so that was a bonus
Review 47:We had booked a family ensuite room and paid for this, but in the info sent by booking.com to the yha no ensuite was requested. There were none available therefore. It would have helped us a lot to have the ensuite.
Review 48:Location
Review 49:It could do with a good clean and the broken toilet and shower door could do with fixing. My last night was a noisy one due to where my room was located at the top ofthe stairs and next to the showers. I could hear the music being played downstairs and the other occupants were rather loud (enjoying themselves which is nice but I was knackered after my climb). They hushed up at about 11.30pm though so not too bad.
Review 50:Friendly, helpful and accomodating staff. Good sized drying room for wet clothes. Bed was comfortable. Location is good...if you have a car. There's no pubs/restaurants to walk to so you need a car.
Review 51:Limited self catering facilities, we stayed in the annexe with good kitchen but this incorporated a twin sofa, so no actual lounge unless one walked over to main building. Before unloading car, check where you are sleeping, house or Annexe. Self catering annexe really for families, lots of children, so be prepared to be tolerant. Place coud be cleaner, lots of cobwebs, which seems to be the norm in most places.
Review 52:Location Bus stop outside Clean power shower Staff helpful and pleasant They use pillow and mattress protectors
Review 53:the location is perfect for trips in and around Snowdonia and it is very peaceful and quiet there with the option to meet lots of other hikers on the way, the personnell is very friendly and helpful
Review 54:Cold rooms. Damp. Mould in rooms and em suite, ended up using communal facilities. Beds not quite big enough (6ft 3in) kept banging Achilles on end of bed resulting in poor sleep. Max 4hours straight through
Review 55:Location to Watkin path start. Decent sized rooms. Good toilet/shower facilities
Review 56:noisy kids; the beds were a bit out of shape, made lots of noise everytime you moved (i'm a light sleeper so it's a big issue for me);
Review 57:the location is absolutely stunning Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 58:In the summer will be fine, imagine the rooms aren't so warm in the autumn/winter....single glazed windows
Review 59:Clean bedding, hot water and private bathroom in family room. Very good size rooms and stunning location.
Review 60:Not everyone liked the single bunk beds!
