Reviews for Elmfield House
Review 1:There was nothing not to like.
Review 2:We had a warm, friendly greeting on what was a cold, dark, wet and windy night. Tea and cake on arrival was such a welcome treat and our room was spacious, extremely clean and warm. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the bathroom pristine. An excellent, freshly cooked, hearty breakfast.
Review 3:Nothing - it was super!
Review 4:Welcoming Very clean, comfortable and well appointed rooms Helpful owners - eg we didn't know the area and they helped us book a place for dinner.
Review 5:The toilet cistern took ages to refill. Toilet paper was not replenished. We could have asked for more but we had some in the car.
Review 6:Lovely breakfasts. Very friendly staff who didn't mind that we were rather late down to breakfast! They had got the right balance between stopping and chatting occasionally and not intruding. Really nice.
Review 7:nothing
Review 8:peaceful location ,friendly hosts ,top notch breakfast .WI-FI spot on. Good shower, excellent dinner recommendation, could do with a bigger sign at the end of the lane.We went flying past first time.
Review 9:It was fine until checking out when we were asked in we had accidentally taken a napkin ring. It was a bizarre question and felt like a veiled accusation.
Review 10:The friendly dog.
Review 11:Several aspects of the breakfast service and attention to detail (room tray replenishment) left us just a little disappointed - more because we feel that 'good' could so easily have become 'excellent' with just a little extra effort in these areas.
Review 12:Elmfield House is in the ideal position for visiting the various places which we wanted to visit - one day we even took the train from Northallerton to York (25 minutes each way) avoiding the road trip and parking in York. There was plenty of useful information about local eating places and we would consider staying here again.
Review 13:With the current roadworks on the A1 it's a little hard to find; best to come off onto the A6136 at Catterick and drive a little south to the farm.
Review 14:Astra and Ian were lovely hosts who went out of their way to make you feel at home.
Review 15:An absolutely great B&B made even better by the hosts. Made to feel welcome with a nice glass of wine which helped after a long journey. Nothing was too much for them. Breakfast choice was great with the food from local resources. We even got engaged here on the recommendation of somewhere to eat. The food at the Queens Head in Finghall which Ian recommended is the best place I've ever had food. Thanks for a fantastic stay. We will be back :)
Review 16:Amazing stay, cleanliness was second to none. Overall excellent stay.,couldn't fault it from it from moment we walked in to moment we left. Ian and Astra were excellent hosts.

Review 18:Nothing
Review 19:Very welcoming and friendly hosts. Room very comfortable and clean, the bed was one of the most comfortable we have experienced in many stays at top class B&B's. The breakfast was excellent and Ian was very accommodating in cooking ours earlier as we had to leave quite early. A truly great stay.
Review 20:I am being picky but it is quite remote so travelling to get an eveningmeal was a pain but the owner gave me a lift in his car so I could havea drink at a local hostelry without having to drive and lent me £20 forthe taxi which he added to my bill - What Service!!
Review 21:Everything available was excellent. Massive warm room, plenty of hotwater, engaging and entertaining host. Brilliant and plentifulbreakfast. If I am in the area again I won't consider stayinganywhere else.
Review 22:if i had to i would have said we would have preferred an earlier check in so we could take our luggage before the start of the wedding but we would have booked the night before.
Review 23:great hospitality very comfortable double room with plenty of space to move around excellent choice of breakfast options they even gave us a lift to our car back at the wedding venue as its was blowing a gale and raining !
Review 24:The warm welcome, the relaxed atmosphere and the willingness of Astri and Ian to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. We would highly recommend.
Review 25:Don't even think of passing the Elm field! Perfect in every way, fantastic location, some great walks around the property itself! They've some fabulous scenery or simply pass the time outside on the secluded patio area watching the horses! Iran and wife have a wealth of local knowledge and recommended some great pubs and restaurants, my wife had a slight accident at whilst visiting local waterfalls and I can't speak highly enough of there kind assistance, thanks and look forward to my next visit! Paul and Janet

Review 67:Ian & Astra made us feel very welcome and relaxed. It is a lovely quiet location the rooms are good the four poster was a nice touch and we slept really well. We had good advice as to where to eat and it is handy for the dales as well as lovely villages and the A1M is closeby
Review 68:Excellent facility, excellent hosts. Fabulous place with generous-sized comfortable room and ensuite bathroom with bath. Tranquil rural setting, with a toasty light-filled garden sitting room. A little out of the way, but this was exactly what we wanted (plugging the coordinates given on booking.com directions into our TomTom GPS led us straight to the door). Good internet reception. Comprehensive compendium in room was very helpful. We received a very warm welcome, and after a restful night and delicious breakfast, were given a fond farewell. Highly recommended!
Review 69:Being met at the car was a good indicator of what was to come. A welcoming pot of tea/coffee and freshly made cake made our welcome even better. Elmfield house is set in the country with lovely views over the countryside with horses, lambs and sheep in abundance. We had driven up from London so decided to eat in, good choice. Lovely meal well presented. Room was very spacious, clean, well decorated and airy. Breakfast was excellent, pity to leave.
Review 70:Owner was very welcoming and gave out valuable information to the local area. The place is situated on a farm surrounded by fields and easy access to the roads. The house felt very homely and i would recommend anyone staying there. Me and my partner will be definitely be returning at some point again.
Review 71:Hard to fault, but signage on the roadside could be better placed, to give some notice of the entrance before actually arriving upon it.
Review 72:Situated in a very rural location with views across open countryside. Welcoming owners who were happy to chat, but not intrusive. The large bedroom with a four poster bed, and additional seating was comfortable. Breakfast cooked to order and very nicely presented. Complementary Easter eggs of the chocolate and pottery variety, added a nice touch on arrival and on the breakfast table.

Review 80:The very friendly and warm welcome from Ian, the cup of tea and homemade cake upon arrival. The bedroom was as good as you'd get in a top class hotel - if not better. The breakfast was very tasty and more than ample with all produce being locally sourced and a very good range of cereals and fruit to choose from. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing surroundings. Ian was an excellent, attentive and easy going host and we would definately go back to Elmfield House again.

Review 86:Minor moan , Creaking floorboards
Review 87:As soon as we arrived we were made welcome by Astra . She made a pot of tea and sat with us for 10 minutes telling us were to dine and ideas for days out . I was a tad concerned re the creaking floorboards , however once we had settled down for the night there was no further noise . Breakfast was superb .They have a great location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales
Review 88:Just the size of the TV
Review 89:Finding the hotel can be a bit tricky since it is rather remote from other habitation and the sign of the road could be missed fairly easily.. Didn't get a chance to check on SATNAV but it might not be too easy to locate. We were met on arrival and greeted in a very friendly and helpful manner. The room was large, well-furnished and very comfortable with good facilities. The TV was on the small side and viewing was obstructed by the post of the four-poster bed - otherwise all was excellent. We missed breakfast which was was a shame because the hotel has a special award for the quality of its breakfasts. On departure, we had a very friendly chat with the lady owner. Overall, we would highly recommend it.
