Reviews for Mansion House Hotel
Review 1:Not a lot. The room we had was fine with a super bathroom. It was just little things -front door peeling varnish-runner worn in entrance-sliding door not convenient.Bar and reception need some TLC. Our room was nice and comfy with the biggest TV I have seen in a hotel room for a long time.
Review 2:Very friendly staff and attentive. Food very good.
Review 3:Some of the decor needs a refresh.
Review 4:I've stayed here many times and it's a great location with excellent free WiFi, friendly and helpful staff and a good selection of single malts served in the cosy little bar or brought to you in the lounge by the blazing fire. Very comfortable rooms and great beds.
Review 5:We appreciated that the hotel had hosted a wedding party on the Sat and Sun breakfast was very busy. However, my partner went to a female member of staff and asked to be served as we had been sitting for a while. She was very nice. Older male member of staff came over and said"There is only the two of us here, you know Ann we are trying our best" in a rather tetchy voice. The breakfast was served soon after and was delicious.
Review 6:Beautiful,spacious and comfortable room.(5)
Review 7:No real problem, but the leisure complex was closed during our weekend.Hence the low score for facilities.
Review 8:Have stayed at the hotel before on a couple of occasions. Its in a lovely location, very clean and tidy hotel. Staff were extremely pleasant at all times, food was excellent.Would visit again
Review 9:Carpets in room were all marked and need replaced. Also marks on the bedding. Too high a step to get into the shower.
Review 10:staff friendly. Breakfast was ok
Review 11:The Hotel is beautiful but a bit dated and could do with a paint in places. My room had been cleaned but you could tell it was rushed. The previous occupants soap was still in the soap dish in the shower and the toilet seat was dirty! The bed was huge and can understand the difficulty in changing the bed but the bottom sheet didn't fit properly and was too small causing the side to crumple in and under you making the comfort less. I also found a used pillowcase under my pillow?? This all being said I didn't leave feeling let down but more sad that my stay had these niggles
Review 12:The Hotel looks stunning and the surrounds are pretty too, the atmosphere inside lacked ambience and it felt very fragmented in the eatery and drinks side of things. The bar wasn't inviting at all and the overall eating experience in the Bistro lacked warmth and made me feel uncomfortable. In summary the whole evening lacked a friendly ambience resulting in me hurrying my meal and retreating to my room
Review 13:wifi didn't work. we were promised it would be fixed the second day but the staff the following day were unaware that a problem had been reported. Had to use expensive cellular service to get internet access in room. But all else was great.
Review 14:Beautiful setting and facilities, and friendly staff. Great starting point for tour of Speyside Whisky distilleries and beautiful scenery. Wonderful Scottish breakfast, dinner, and parlor areas.
Review 15:Pool changing rooms/showers were shabby. Breakfast tasted fine but porridge arrived after hot breakfast on 1st morning and waiter moaned about being understaffed. Had to chase hot breakfast on 2nd morning.
Review 16:Room very comfortable and quality décor. Private dinner on Saturday evening was superb
Review 17:Pleasant surprise. We booked at last minute due to change in plans. Well located for Speyside distilleries, and staff and food couldn't be better.
Review 18:Changing room at the pool was grubby.Needs to be properly maintained. Room a bit on the small side partly due to the tv being on a stand and not on the wall
Review 19:Location was central. Food was very good
Review 20:At dinner, booked for 6 p.m. we were not served until almost 7. While my wife's Sea Bass was very good my pie and chips seemed poor value at £10.50. Most of the meal appeared and tasted as though it had come from a can!
Review 21:Ideally positioned on the banks of the River Lossie. Quiet area but close to the town centre. Parking was excellent. The staff!! Excellent, friendly and helpful. Samantha even arranged for flowers for my wife (anniversary). Highly commended.
Review 22:The friendliness and courtesy of Staff from the minute you arrive at Reception. The peaceful location and attention to detail that has been planned within the Deluxe Room we stayed.
Review 23:No bad experience but the road access is a little difficult for brainless American drivers to navigate
Review 24:Great building - helpful staff - good general location on outside of Elgin. Lovely ambience. next to the river. spa facilities good Fabulous room Charming staff
Review 25:shower was broken; bathroom floor tiles cracked; mattress was too hard; poor quality pillows; water damage on bedroom ceiling, wallpaper was bubbling; duvet cover though clean was a dingy grey. They tried to charge us for a 3 course meal we had not had.
Review 26:breakfast
Review 27:Large stain on bedroom carpet. Bathroom heating stuck on full on a very warm evening made room very hot and the hardest bed imaginable. Would def avoid room 16 on any return trip.
Review 28:Great quiet location. Beautiful breakfast, salmon & egg was simply first class.
Review 29:I couldn't access the wi-fi as the server didn't show up on my phone. The bar is not allowed to accept cash later in the evening causing embarrassment to our guests we had travelled up to visit. Their drinks were charged to our room.
Review 30:Welcome friendly atmosphere. Courteous staff. Excellent food.
Review 31:The welcoming and helpful staff. The facilities were great, food excellent. Enjoyed using the pool. welcomed the quietness of the estate, and the locality.
Review 32:This won't stop me from returning but the room was extremely hot, with no heating on and windows open it could be uncomfortable for some people.
Review 33:Hotel grounds and leisure facilities are great and rooms full of character and very comfortable.
Review 34:The bistro is need of refurb, it was drab and totally lacking in atmosphere. The bespectacled chap who served our breakfast was seriously lacking in social graces and not at all customer focussed. Reminded us of Fawlty Towers!
Review 35:The location, the really comfortable bed, and one of the best steaks we've ever eaten. The blond haired ultra smart receptionist whose inter personal skills were second to none.
Review 36:The only down was the pool and sauna fabric is in need of an update but this is no reflection of the hotel, more the need of membership to inject a financial balance to allow the refurb.
Review 37:Having driven past the entrance for years and yet unaware of this gem. Firstly, the staff are so friendly and helpful, Lynnie at the spa is superb (guests must prevail of her services) my wife was transformed by the hot stones treatment. The building, grounds, room and food all excellent. For us it was a long overdue escape and Mansion House ticked all the boxes. Will definitely return and highly recommend. Thanks ladies.
Review 38:Nothing bad about this place whatsoever.
Review 39:Room was huge and had everything you could need. Best bed we have ever slept in so comfy we had to spend a fourth night there. We would definitely go back to this establishment.
Review 40:Very busy hotel due to a wedding in progress, we were looking for a quiet retreat, didn't spoil are stay to much though.
Review 41:Very good location, very clean hotel and excellent evening meal.
Review 42:Nothing really. Couldn't get the wifi password to work but didn't need it on this occasion and don't ask for help so may have been easily resolved has I done so
Review 43:Beautiful room, wonderful bed. Immaculately clean. Bathroom excellent with high quality bath, sink etc all very well finished. Huge TV. Friendly, hardworking staff.
Review 44:We could very clearly hear a washing machine on its final spin at almost half-past midnight. Not a very pleasant view from window.
Review 45:The building, furniture in public rooms and spa facilities.
Review 46:nothing
Review 47:very relaxing, great facilities, incredibly comfortable bed, excellent breakfast. A pleasure as always - it is our home from home when we are in Elgin and we'll keep coming back
Review 48:Feather pillows bit hard!
Review 49:Great booking on line. Great accommodation to special rquirments. Lovely staff. Amazing food, 'so so tasty'. Will return!
Review 50:The staff were helpful and friendly, the room I stayed in was excellent and the bar was cosy. The hotel is in a lovely setting and only 5 minutes walk to the centre of town.
Review 51:The only tiny complaint was the Christmas music. What seemed like the same 10 pop tracks (it was quite possibly more) were played on repeat in all areas of the hotel so by the time breakfast arrived the next morning we found them irritating. We told the receptionist as we left and she took on board what we has told her and suggested maybe mixing it up with regular music.
Review 52:What a perfect time we had, a swim and sauna, drinks in the lounge, a wonderful meal, back to the lounge for coffee and more drinks, a sleep in a wonderfully comfortable bed and a tasty breakfast the next morning. We felt well looked after and well rested after our short break.
Review 53:The shower in the bath. The bath was very high and the edge was wide. It would have helped if there had been a rail on the back wall. Room 14.
Review 54:We loved the comfortable style of the hotel, the furniture was lovely. The food was fab and the reception girls were lovely. I just wish I had seen the Christmas Tree decorated. We will definitely Be back.
Review 55:Draught from old sash windows. Telly too big for room, but would be better on wall. Room to small for its size.
Review 56:Excellent food mixed with good service wrapped in an old fashioned building. Excellent shower.
Review 57:Didn't notice a lift but could be my own fault as I didn't enquire
Review 58:The room was fantastic The property was beautiful and retained all the period charm of a building of its age The staff were super - very friendly and helpful
Review 59:Shower was not working properly. It was a known problem and yet were not about it until we reported the problem ourselves. Told not to use it despite it being an awesome rain type shower
Review 60:Nice rooms and facilities Good food Good staff
Review 61:Not a lot to dislike but they could do with selling a decent ale from the bar.
Review 62:I loved the comfort and attention by the staff. Never obtrusive but they know how to look after you. I was staying on business and arrived late so never got to experience the leisure facilities but if they are as relaxing as the guest areas I'm sure they'll be great. The food was excellent, at least on their Bistro menu and breakfast was totally table service, unusual these days. I also had a room with a four poster bed and a sitting area which made my late and short stay very comfy. I'd go back in a minute. I bet you it's glorious in summer!
Review 63:I wasn't asked or told when I checked in that the Bistro and restaurant were very busy so had to be squeezed in earlier than I really wanted to eat
Review 64:Location very good and a lovely bedroom. Friendy staff
Review 65:Patchy wifi (lots of different connections according to location in the building, none of which seemed very fast, but at least it worked!).
Review 66:Gorgeous building & grounds, lovely 'old style' feel to the décor, friendly staff, great location for the town centre, good sized room & bathroom, fabulous bed, really nice bistro meals & breakfasts, excellent value for money overall.
Review 67:Nothing.
Review 68:The hotel is a beautiful example of a bygone age of travel and estate living. fabulous bedroom and superb food. The staff were attentive despite a very busy wedding going on
Review 69:Hotel decor is a bit tired. The pool and leisure centre in particular need a facelift
Review 70:Staff were friendly and Helpful. Food was top class and good value
Review 71:Interior shabby and faded, chipped paint and dust in hall and stairs Our room was dull and dark Too large furniture left little room to move around .Bathroom suite also too big and access to shower very high.Difficult for small people or those with even slight mobility problems.
Review 72:Lovely old building and grounds Quiet location. Varied menu and formal or bistro dining options Dining room was pleasant Food of good quality and very well presented. Breakfast selection very average but hot items were well prepared and of good quality.
Review 73:Beautiful building, an actual mansion. It's in great location , quiet ,easy parking. Has a great pool ,spa and sauna. The meals were very good. We will stay again
Review 74:Rooms and reception rooms slightly dated. Bedroom particularly a little tired looking.
Review 75:Food in restaurant Position in town Very quiet Spacious room Amazing staff especially Anne Breakfast excellent
Review 76:some cleanliness issues (e.g dust in the bathroom), very worn out carpets in the hallways upstairs, some of the common areas really shabby looking, staff at breakfast sometimes chaotic

Review 78:Main reception area a bit tired especially the carpet.
Review 79:Lovely decor in bedroom and a beautifully appointed en suite . Good quality bed linen , very comfortable bed. Staff were v friendly.
Review 80:Staff looked stressed during dinner , always walking very fast. Athmosphere therefore not as leisurely as could have been
Review 81:Dinner was excellent, great value for the price. Were upgraded to a wonderful big room.
Review 82:Nothing!
Review 83:Glorious countryside, wonderful facilities and friendly staff. Very comfortable stay. Great bar and restaurant with a terrific billiard room for pre dinner relaxation. Wish we had stayed longer to enjoy the Spa!!
Review 84:Dirty and warn out corridor to the rooms...
Review 85:Food was great. Room was great. Facilities were great. The 'wee' bar with a vaste choice of whiskies was great. Lovely decor and big lounges.
Review 86:One of the restaurant staff plump with black tights and pony tail was down right lazy and moody. The carpet was badly worn and the two bath mats looked awful. Why not put a large mat down they are really cheap and would have made a feature of the area
Review 87:Loved the overall ambiance The lounge was fantastic Food superb especially loved the decorations on the pudding Rooms beautifully clean All but one of the staff were excellent and could not do enough for us
Review 88:1- there was no fridge in the room. 2- we did not get wifi anywhere in or around our room. 3- the food was nice but very overpriced.
