Reviews for Glangrwyney Court Country House
Review 1:Booked for my daughters birthday. She was a little disappointed with her stay. Not much of an atmosphere, everything from decor and furniture in was dated, needs updating. Breakfast limited choice and only served from 8-9 am.
Review 2:Location was lovely
Review 3:We spent New years eve here beautiful place and charming owners and a fantastic breakfast before walking the beacons New years day, highly recommended
Review 4:Single beds pushed together to make double, shower had inadequate water pressure to wash and no bath.
Review 5:Freindly staff, quiet and relaxing location and nice sized room.
Review 6:This place is a palace. We had the luxury of an upgrade to one of the best bedrooms. Log fires to relax in front of and an honesty bar. The bed was so comfortable, it took extreme efforts to get up. A superb breakfast to top it all off.
Review 7:wifi didn't work in room. not fresh milk
Review 8:The peace and quiet, the huge bath and the bed was so comfortable. The house is beautiful and location perfect.
Review 9:Minor issue concerning the number of flies in the room due to previously opened doors and windows.
Review 10:The house and grounds were quiet and relaxing. Easy to get to Abergavenny, Monmouth, Crickhowell and Tretower. Breakfast staff and food was a true delight - very comforting!
Review 11:Would question if bacon was freshly cooked to each order as arrivedextremely hard as though re-heated. Baked beans not routinely offered asan option with breakfast - cannot contemplate why. This is a normalbreakfast addition in Wales. Staff, sadly seemed to be busy with othergiven commitments during breakfast, despite there being few guests tocater for which made service seem rushed. No offer of extratoast/coffee.Honesty bar situated in lounge with an array of wines and spirits accompanied by a price list and a pad to enter anything consumed. This would be charged to the bill at end of stay. Prices for these drinks were ridiculous considering there were no staff costs to running the bar! Residents are 'allowed' to consume own alcohol in their bedrooms but to consume elsewhere would be charged a corkage fee of £5.00 per drink/ £8.00 corkage per bottle of champagne. I have never seen this in any establishment I have used before - and I've resided in many. Extremely dangerous exit from main gate onto the main road. This should be made clear to visitors to the venue. Right hand turns into the road should ideally be avoided, and that's the opinion of an advanced trained driver!
Review 12:Lovely surroundings, beautiful, grand old house filled with fabulousperiod artefacts. Good choice of breakfast menu which was quite nice. Apotential hidden diamond. Crickhowell, Abergavenny and Brecon a must tovisit for local shopping and hostelries.
Review 13:The gardens were beautiful, the room was spacious, clean, comfortable with everything we needed. The staff were nice and friendly and breakfast was delicious.
Review 14:The quality of the staff , cleanliness , beautiful gardens - original country house kept in wonderful condition - with a great atmosphere - lovely views and only a few miles from the town - perfect ....
Review 15:Lovely country house , beautifully furnished and appointed.Very generous and varied breakfast. Friendly staff. Can't recommend it enough. Keen to go back!
Review 16:Very soft bed, but a good sleep nonetheless. Water took a really long time to get hot, possibly 5minutes, which felt a real waste of water. It was lovely and hot when it got there eventually.
Review 17:Amazing views and very friendly staff; personal touches and approach.
Review 18:Nothing!
Review 19:Very comfortable bed. Very relaxing, beautiful views, grounds lovely. Breakfast one of best ever. So unassuming , no airs and graces but very classy.
Review 20:The only downside was the lack of hot water in our room on the evening of arrival. After a long day walking on Pen Y Fan it was disappointing that only one of us was able to enjoy a hot bath/shower. This was rectified however as soon as we alerted the owners.
Review 21:Views, comfy bed, honesty bar, breakfast!
Review 22:FOR HOTEL EYES ONLY. Gurgling of the water system in Room 8. A Queen size bed would be better (large framed 6'2" husband)
Review 23:A grand approach to a grand building, set delightfully in magnificent countryside and beautifully appointed.
Review 24:This is a beautiful period property perfectly situated for visiting the Brecon Beacons.. The house is tastefully decorated with period furnishings, rooms are warm, spacious, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast bar which contained class selections, also the cooked breakfast was delicious. The owners and staff are extremely nice people, we enjoyed our stay so much we shall visit again in the near future.

Review 29:No hot water on either evening. Already used up before I went to bed.Did not complain the second morning as occuipied with bill payment and forgot.
Review 30:Suite pleaasnt and elegant
Review 31:The en-suite to the room, I would have preferred a shower. The breakfast seemed disorganised from a point of where you should sit and also felt like we had been crammed into the room leaving us feeling uncomfortable throughout. Both these comments would not stop me staying again or recommending to others.
Review 32:Location, property, grounds, setting, bed room, the meet and greet on arrival (Saturday afternoon), convenient for both Abergavenny and Crickhowell

Review 37:Breakfast not great, food or drink not permitted in bedrooms due to antique furnishings.

Review 39:Being given a room right at the top of the house and having to carry heavy suitcases up too many stairs.

Review 41:Despite being busy they were able to let us into the room early to get ready for a wedding. Very comfortable bed, delicious breakfast and friendly, attentive staff.
Review 42:Expected fresh fruit like melon/strawberries etc given the time of year instead it was thawed summer fruits and canned grapefruit. Given the b&b rate it was poor value for money.
