Reviews for Le Colombier

Review 1:There is very limited parking and nearby public parking is often full and no guarantee of a place.this means carrying bags with no baggage assistance.the website is misleading when it states parking and should be changed to be more honest about it

Review 2:The standard room had no tea-making facilities.

Review 3:Good size rooms and bathroom with bath, shower and hairdryer . Useful to have a separate WC. Air conditioning was a real bonus in the high temperatures. Lifts were good and security was excellent. Breakfasts excellent, too, as were staff.

Review 4:the room could be a bit larger. the room was next to the huge cooler so we had to close the window at night because of the noise.

Review 5:the location, the bed

Review 6:I booked 2 triple room, in the page it said it has 3 single bed, it turns out there is 1 double bed and 1 sofa bed. Many design faults... i can't close the bedroom door because of the bedside table. There is no shower screen which makes the bathroom floor like a mini pool after a short shower.. the toilet door and bathroom door can't open at the same time.

Review 7:We check in late and the staff had sent us a very detail email with instruction and photo of how to get the key. Decent size of room with living room area.

Review 8:On arrival, we were told we'd been upgraded to an higher category room. That room was in a dependance just in front of the hotel, however it didn't look like an upgrade to us. It was very tiny, under the roof thus giving a claustrophobic feeling, which was amplified by the windows having a view on ... nothing but walls at close distance.

Review 9:The location just in the centre of Obernai. The value for price, which was very good. The quality of Wi-Fi.

Review 10:There was no iron or ironing board

Review 11:The central location. We had the exclusive suite which consisted of two bedrooms, so we were happy to have separate rooms for the children. There were two televisions which is also great, however no English channels.

Review 12:We booked a car parking space in the garage which was confirmed on booking but a week before our stay I received an email that the garage door was broken so we could not use the garage which was difficult as my husband has walking difficulties. When we arrived I asked about the garage and was told that we still couldn't use it although I checked and there were cars in there. The rooms are a little small.

Review 13:We have stayed at this hotel several times. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfast is lovely with lots of choice - hot and cold. The central location in the lovely village of Obernai is great,

Review 14:Wifi was in and out, couldn't get proper signal. No designated parking for the hotel. AC in the room took all night to bring the room to a cool temperature.

Review 15:Room was very modern. Views from our room were great. Breakfast was delicious. Pet friendly.

Review 16:Room was very cold with no heat source available Room on ground floor facing cobbled street. Very significant road news from quite early in the morning.

Review 17:Could not hear American and English TV films in English. French dubbing only available and its sound quality is very poor (my French hearing aid specialist confirmed that the poor sound of the French dubbing is general). Numericable at home permits change to English!

Review 18:at 136 euros we expect a better standard of room. Refurbished on a shoestring to make look boutique ...shower flooding the bathroom. Got much better rooms for have the price on our trip

Review 19:Access to the undercover parking parking lot Access to the hotel from the parking lot 1 lift only

Review 20:The room (top floor) Bathroom Staff Location Breakfast

Review 21:We got one of the rooms after check in time, after 11p.m you can't stay in the lobby.

Review 22:Good location, rooms are very clean, good security in the hotel.

Review 23:Located in the center of the town. Close to very nice jogging path which bring you in the Forrest. Very good value for money. Nice fitness facilities for such a small place.

Review 24:Friendly and very helpful staff The room is very clean, large and beautifully decorated The location at the very center of the village Alsacian pastries and bio yoghurt from a farmer nearby at breakfeast

Review 25:Garage is difficult to enter, especially on market time, although the garage itself is not too difficult to move around.

Review 26:The hotel is very good indeed and one of the best in its class I have visited, the room was really convenient and stylish and breakfast exceeded the expectations.

Review 27:Nothing bad to say about the place.

Review 28:Obernai is a beautiful town and the Hotel is ideally located. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the bed was also really comfortable. Also the staff were friendly and helpful. We were there for the market which was a Thursday but I am not sure if this is on every week. We have stayed with other hotels in the Diana group which is the main reason why we chose this hotel as they are always well run and clean.

Review 29:unfortunately the shower screen was to short, therefore preventing water from spilling on to the floor. Only one person could be on wifi at a time.

Review 30:For some reason we were upgraded from a double which was a surprise and appreciated. The room was spacious and the bathroom was well appointed.

Review 31:The ramp entering the garage scrapped the bottom of our car - if you have a low car beware!

Review 32:We had a lovely room on the 4th floor overlooking the village of Obernai. Comfortable beds, lovely bathroom. Air conditioning. Breakfast was very nice too - including scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, fruit and usual cereals, etc. car parking convenient.

Review 33:Price, room design

Review 34:Location

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:Website allowed me to book three single beds in one room, but the hotel said they have no such accommodation.

Review 37:Moden Style in an ancient building.

Review 38:The location and the staff were great, last point breakfast was good

Review 39:The rooms were very dark. It needs additional lamps or overhead lighting since we were unable to read in bed

Review 40:Too expensive for the value

Review 41:Close to town centre. Modernized rooms and elevator.

Review 42:It was very Nice

Review 43:Cold

Review 44:All was perfect!

Review 45:Breakfast not good value Staff not very friendly.

Review 46:Very nice room

Review 47:room a little small

Review 48:Great location, very comfortable bed

Review 49:Central location with a friendly atmosphere. Clean, good breakfast, good choice of restaurants. Good base for visiting other towns in Alsace.

Review 50:Minute room.. Unable to leave suitcases open

Review 51:Private parking was not available for maintenance reason.

Review 52:Central location. Airconditioned and spacy room. Rich breakfast.

Review 53:le calme

Review 54:large and comfortable room ,friendly and helpful staff,

Review 55:a bit noisy, lack of coffee maker in the rooms, the hotel bar is not inviting

Review 56:Nice place and a nice small hotel

Review 57:Breakfast room's athmophere was somewhat 'cold' however the breakfast itself was good.

Review 58:Nice central location in town.

Review 59:No English speaking channels on tv

Review 60:Location & very secure. Good buffet breakfast

Review 61:our room was very comfortable. the receptin staff were friendly and very helpful. breakfast was very good.

Review 62:lighting in the rooms a little poor, no hooks in the bathroom for towels and cloths

Review 63:clean,comfortable rooms, in the centre of town, friendly staff

Review 64:one could smell the cigarette smoke in the room

Review 65:nice big room, price/quality ration is good

Review 66:Difficult parking

Review 67:Cleanliness, breakfast

Review 68:No negative points at all.

Review 69:Everything! Comfortable, spacious and calm room. Excellent cleanliness. Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast choice.

Review 70:just arrived and I was in trouble to find car parking surrounding area.

Review 71:Location and the room

Review 72:Great location in a great little town, which we stopped at on our way to Italy. Very comfortable and contemporary.

Review 73:nothing

Review 74:the location was perfect

Review 75:nothing to complain about

Review 76:Cleanliness, facilities, staff

Review 77:Location, good breakfast and friendly staff

Review 78:nice hotel , superb location ,secure parking and air conditioning that works ,what more do you want

Review 79:Car park access was impossible for a range rover.

Review 80:Central location, breakfast and the room with triple aspect.

Review 81:Grout was moldy around bathtub. Garage parking was challenging for a full-size automobile.

Review 82:Rooms were spacious and had a separate living area. Very close to the center of Obernai.

Review 83:Absolutely no complaints at all.

Review 84:Simply everything! Superbly friendly staff; clean rooms (privilège room); rich breakfast buffet; cleanliness of the whole place; central situation (free public parking a short walk from the hotel). We'll be back!

Review 85:had underground parking on site. code to access garage emailed at time of booking. in centre of obernai, ideal location for restaurants and for walking around the town.

Review 86:Didn't bother with the expensive breakfast. My lap-top was attacked but thankfully no damage seems to have been done.

Review 87:The rooms are modern, clean and well furnished. Ours was a bit small but sufficient for one night.

Review 88:We booked a room at Le Colombier via booking.com. We received a confirmation mail from the hotel. By the time we arrived they claimed that we hadn't booked at all.... The lady behind the counter was very rude "bad luck, we don't have a room anyway". After showing their confirmation mail the reaction was: 'so what, we don't have a room'. We were send to another hotel outside the centre next to the Macdonalds drive through and not on walking distance to the centre. Not really what we planned for. As one of us has limited mobility we were forced to find another hotel in the centre ourselves. After having contacted booking.com we found out that this is apparently common practice in this hotel. To put it shortly: unreliable, unfriendly and impolite.

Review 89:The wifi worked well on my laptop, but the password had to be re-entered constantly. The receptionist could not make the wifi work on my iPhone, in spite of several attempts. The system seems rather complicated.

Review 90:The comfort, the position, the breakfast (especially the croissants) and the convenient underground parking.

Review 91:Well located on the beautiful medieval square. Rooms were a good size, very clean and quiet. Breakfast was plentiful, and fair for the price. No need to pay for parking (garage door is too low to allow in a car with a roof box anyway) as the main town parking is adjacent to the hotel.

Review 92:Found the room a little cold - December 20th stay - and cold air around balcony window and bathroom

Review 93:This is my fourth time staying there. I had one of the bigger rooms with separate WC and bathroom. The balcony was an added bonus!! The front desk girls were very helpful with the wifi log-in!

Review 94:The underground parking garage was quite narrow (sadly, the rental car company gave us an SUV...) making it difficult to park. Also, the street leading to the garage was very narrow, therefore passenger must get out to enter the code to open the garage door.

Review 95:The location was ideal, only steps away from the main square. Lots of shops, bakeries and restaurants nearby. The room was large and the bed extremely comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel.

Review 96:It took a long while until our WiFi access was made available. The bed was slightly landscaped. If you have a big car and use the hotel parking, you risk adding another to the many scratch marks on the wall opposite the garage.

Review 97:Everywhere in Obernai can be reached on foot. This justifies the rather high price.

Review 98:When choosing a hotel I look at the Booking.com ratings and secure car parking. Eventually we found the rear of the hotel where the car park is situated. The key code would not work so the door was opened from reception. Opposite the garage door is an advertising board (from a beauty shop) situated on the road - after moving this, it was still not possible for me to drive my medium sized 4 x 4 into the garage as there was insufficient space to turn. I therefore parked in the public car park next to the hotel! When I mentioned to the receptionist I had chosen this hotel because of the advertised secure parking. I was "advised" not to be stressed with her as many other customers have raised the same concern and it wasn't her fault I had a large car! Although our room was excellent, it stank of cigarrette smoke. We opened the french window to clear the smell but as our room was at the front of the hotel and the street below was cobbled, the noise was disturbing with the constant stream of cars passing all night. Breakfast was good but we had one of the last two clean tables. The other 20+ tables had not been cleared from previous use. Residents following us were having to clear a table to have their breakfast. It was obvious this was not a family run hotel.

Review 99:This hotel is situated in the centre of town and has many good restaurants. Our room was very large and had a fridge and safe. The bed was huge and very comfortable. On booking, I received an e-mail confirmation from the hotel, a map showing access to the garage and the code to open the garage doors.

Review 100:Keeping track of the security codes was a bit annoying but it's nice to know the security exists.

Review 101:Great location and convienent underground parking.

Review 102:I spent one night at this hotel in October 2013. Obernai is a charming town. The hotel is situated in the center and is surrounded by the traditional Alsacian colorful houses. The staff are nice and helpful. The standard room was big and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. There is no restaurant at the hotel, but the receptionist will recommend a place to go. There are a lot of restaurants within a walking distance. There is a spa and a gym at the hotel.

Review 103:Right in the heart of Obernai with garage parking. Helpful receptionist who booked us dinner at good restaurant where we could even take the dog.

Review 104:When the hotel garage is full the local parking bas to be paid every 1.5 hours - very inconvenient. The breakfast defies description - really bad- Nescafe machine with hot water and powdered milk??

Review 105:Were upgraded as there was no parking available as booked

Review 106:The modern trend, for no mirrors in the room except the bathroom! Must have been designed by a man. I like a mirror and a plug near for hair drying. Most hotel hair driers are a basic. Also we had a sitting area but no lighting.

Review 107:Old building but very trendy inside, staff very efficient , and a very good breakfast

Review 108:The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful in recommending places to eat. We were upgraded to a suite opposite the hotel which also had its own sauna for no extra expense. The hotel is in the centre of town and we parked in a nearby public car park and as it was a weekend we didn't have to pay. Obernai is a lovely town and well worth a visit.

Review 109:Went out for breakfast as the 12 euro I considered too expensive.

Review 110:Wonderful staff and great location that was walking distance to all oftown and the vineyard above the town.

Review 111:Very helpful staff as we arrived as car park was full told us where we could park, also helped accessing the Internet. Lovely modern hotel, with up to date furniture, separate bathroom and toilet, TV,air-conditioning. Gota deal with Booking.com and only paid £65 for a standard room (had to pay E12 each for breakfast) which was great. Location is central yo Obernai. Breakfast good. Would definitely stay there again

Review 112:It was raining like hell, but that was not the hotel's fault ...

Review 113:Location in the hearth of Obernai. Charm of Obernai. Possibility of buying Alsazian wines directly from producers.

Review 114:A hammam would be welcome in the spa (there's only one sauna).

Review 115:The staff was very careful, helpful and nice. The room (Exclusive) was large and comfortable, very clean with a bed as we more usually find them in the US than in Europe (I'm European myself and I liked the opportunity to have such a comfortable bed here). The spa and fitness room are both calm, clean and well-equipped.

Review 116:Our standard double room was in a corner of the top floor and was tiny, with barely enough room to walk around the bed. The hotel breakfast, while filling, was cold including the 2 available hot dishes.

Review 117:The hotel is centrally located in the old town of Obernai and thelocation was perfect for visiting also the Alsace Wine Route andStrasbourg.

Review 118:The garage entry and exit is very difficult in a large car. If you're not bothered by fears of car break-in use the public square. The new coffee machine in the breakfast room produces insipid stuff.

Review 119:Superb location in a lovely town. Excellent rooms. We are "regulars" and thoroughly recommend.
