Reviews for Best Western Hôtel Continental

Review 1:Could have done with more tea/coffee facilities in the room. Having said that, we didn't ask for any and there were free facilities in the reception lounge

Review 2:Just about everything - staff, ambience of the whole hotel, the room and en-suite, location. Will definitely stay here again

Review 3:Decoration is not amazing. It is not very clean, the breakfast is not very good quality.

Review 4:The old bones of the building are great. The bathroom was big and nice. The location is right in the center. Car parking is free.

Review 5:One of the few hotels we would definitely return to.The hotel was right in the centre of Pau and a few minutes walk to the historic old quatier. The hotel was spacious, very relaxing and the owners have retained a great deal of old world charm and original features while still introducing modern facilities. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Review 6:Very Old building with a modern update, a mix of old and new. Centrally located, secure private parking only 3 minutes away. Excellent wifi. Immaculately clean. A note to future travellers: To access the car park you require a code from reception. Then you have to drive the wrong way down a one way street (only a short distance). Strange access but worked fine, as promised by reception.

Review 7:I was not happy at all with the last deal with you. You mentioned to metwo options in the hotel “Best western continental” at pau: Standardroom with a price for 4 nights around 305 Euros refundable Same pricefor an upgrade room classic double room non refundable. I selected theupgraded one; classic double room. When I checked in the hotel, Inoticed that first level of the hotels room is the classic double roomand there is no lower than this. In other word I took the risk of nonrefundable room for nothing. This is not acceptable at all. And if Ididn’t see any real action as a compensation from your end, I will writecomplains in many review sites. It is not the first time I am dealingwith you but it is the first time I was in situation like this.

Review 8:The coffe and the location. I didnt like that there is no sing inthe toilette

Review 9:Trying to access the hotel by car was difficult. There is a "one-way" sign with a "sauf" statement on the street where the hotel is located and we failed to interpret the fact that we could drive on it, i.e., against traffic. We ultimately prevailed!

Review 10:The hotel staff was very pleasant and accommodating as were the accommodations.

Review 11:The public areas of the hotel were grubby. The breakfast was a disgrace and did not cater properly for all nationalities and staff unhelpful.

Review 12:The location.

Review 13:Getting to the Hotel in the City Centre was a bit of a struggle in the bus-lane/ one-way street complex and the hotel garage was hard to spot as well as not very easy to manoeuvre a SUV in. Not major issues but they did produce a sweat!

Review 14:Brilliant room with space to move - almost like a small suite! Restaurant staff very friendly and Reception helpful

Review 15:Hotel Restaurant and most local restaurants closed on Sunday's, room beside lift was noisy!

Review 16:Great central location only 10 min from train station, shops on doorstep

Review 17:Lovely warm greeting. Generous rooms and comfortable rooms. Parking near by. Good location for walking through Pau. Reception gave excellent advise for scenic walk.

Review 18:Would have like to see two sets of towels out in the bathroom for two guests booked. Discovered there were more available in the cupboard in the bedroom.

Review 19:Central location and free car parking. Pleasant receptionists.

Review 20:Downtown Pau is simply a nightmare of a place to drive through, even with GPS. I had to park and then go look for the place on foot, then return to my car and drive to it. I'm not sure it would have been any better at another hotel, though.

Review 21:The staff were absolutely wonderful in helping me get to the hotel parking area, assisting me with dinner reservations, and responding to a few other needs that arose during my stay. I can't say enough about them!

Review 22:Only a duvet on the bed. For oldies provision of a sheet would have been appreciated. We did not realise till late at night, so we didn't ask! Pillows a bit thin and limp'

Review 23:Very helpful front desk.

Review 24:Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Unique decor, very comfortable. Made for special stay. Perfect location to see sights of city. I had a wonderful stay and highly recommend.

Review 25:nothing

Review 26:Staff very, very helpful even if the problem was nothing to do with the hotel. Good choice at breakfast. Double glazing very effective, which is a must in a city centre hotel.

Review 27:Overall impression is one of shabbiness, flaking paintwork needs to be attended to, throughout. The hotel's name over the front corner entry has missing lighted letters, so the name appears as ***** ********TAL. Not many businesses don't have their name up front. Breakfast is an extremely mediocre affair. Don't expect a cheery "Bonjour" here, and you won't be disappointed. There is chic and shabby chic - this hotel is just plain shabby.

Review 28:This hotel is in a great central location. Thank God for the elevator. Our room on the third floor was large with a comfortable bed and good ventilation with opening doors that also provided for sound reduction. A free car parking garage 50 metres from the hotel was a definite bonus.

Review 29:We loved the preservation of old woodwork and fixtures alongside modern additions such as double glazed French windows inside the originals leading to small balconies. We loved the round shape of the room and its wonderful Asian accent furniture. The location is ideal for access to the pedestrian streets and promenade & restaurants with gorgeous views of the Pyrenees. Free parking is just steps from the front door.

Review 30:There is no bar or restaurant open in the evening at the hotel, only a TV room.

Review 31:The staff were very nice and helpful, the building is pretty and the room facilities are great. We had our 15 months old with us, so might have been given a nicer room than standard, which was very spacious and nicely decorated.

Review 32:Hotel is very run down with poor facilities. Breakfast a really sad experience. We were shocked when at 9.0am room service staff tried to enter our room without warning.

Review 33:Reception a good experIence. Car parking very convenient and also essential.

Review 34:hard to park outside hotel & no info on where parking is. Stressful.

Review 35:position close to centre character of rooms excellent reception staff wi fi worked

Review 36:A very hard bed and the restaurant, although manned by very nice people, can be bypassed. Try almost anything on the Ave Foch.

Review 37:Excellent location. Drive to the door of the hotel, get out of the traffic, leave the car illegally parked with the emergency lights on and go to the main desk. They will tell you how to find the covered and secured parking. Hint: you have to drive down a one Way street in the opposite direction, but "don't worry about the do-not-enter sign"? You'll be told. It's the French way! Once parked, you will be within walking distance of everything. We had a great stay.

Review 38:Being woken at 5.45 am with the building works going on opposite our room. I can't believe the hotel didn't know about this, yet still gave us a room at the front right by the building works.

Review 39:Location, and large comfy rooms.

Review 40:Nothing actually. If I would have to write something I would say that the pillows were a bit too soft for my personal preference. But this is personal and I just took two which did the trick...

Review 41:- Nice large room and bathroom, very clean! - Nice staff - Nice breakfast - Nice location

Review 42:The bedroom was very warm, a fan was provided but air conditioning would have been better

Review 43:The position in the centre of Pau, the helpful staff. Free car park.

Review 44:The hotel was very difficult to find. In the end we abandoned the car and found it on foot! The car park is nearby but parking is tight when not used to the hire car. Decor is a bit tired in parts. Breakfast mediocre. No air con in room. Bathroom very small.

Review 45:The staff were very helpful and all spoke English. Our bedding was changed every day which is a treat. The location is very central and easy to walk to the centre of Pau for restaurants and sight seeing.

Review 46:Being in the city centre parking was difficult. Paid extra for underground parking which was worth the cost.

Review 47:Good hotel with character, friendly staff. Room was very good with excellent facilities including a coffee machine with a range of coffee and tea. Very central location.

Review 48:No air conditioning so do not recommend staying over the summer period. A lot of homeless people around the hotel in the evening.

Review 49:The room was quite nice, spacious and clean, bed comfortable, bathroom spacious and clean. Staff were very friendly.

Review 50:It would help if the hotel emailed you detailed instruction on how to get through the one way/bus routes to the hotel and garage

Review 51:Our room had recently been refurbished and it was in excellent condition and comfortable

Review 52:It was really hot in the room and although a ventilator is provided, airco would have been a plus.

Review 53:Excellent welcome by the hotel staff, very friendly. The parking garage that the hotel offers is a big plus (don't forget to make a reservation in advance). The location of the hotel is just fine, it's a 5 minute walk to the city centre. The room was clean. Breakfast was good, with plenty of things to choose from.

Review 54:Parking is very tight. Difficult to locate with GPS and the Pau one-way system. No aircon. Rooms are best described as "functional".

Review 55:Reasonable price. Great location in the city centre.

Review 56:The hotel needs a refurbishment. I suppose the price reflects this.

Review 57:It is classic French period building with large rooms with lovely features. I was there for the Etape & location and bike friendliness was excellent.

Review 91:Breakfast was poor.

Review 92:Location, spacious rooms and an old fashioned sense of space.

Review 94:Breakfast should be included in the room price. There are two cafes 50 metres away where you can have a good, much cheaper breakfast .
