Reviews for Hotel Doña María

Review 1:The fact that we had to leave. I want to go back!!

Review 2:The location is excellent. Central and historical, within walking distance of the best parts of the city.

Review 3:the location is perfect. right in front of the cathedral and very close to the main attractions. nice rooftop terrace - cool place to enjoy the sunset and cathedral view

Review 4:Driving to hotel. We parked in underground car park and got a taxi but walked back to car. Much less stressful than trying to drive to the hotel even with Satnav, parking spaces very limited anyway not worth trying

Review 5:Location could not be better. Near everything. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 6:Slow internet, very hot room, loud - you can hear the elevator very well in the room (seems to be used all the time), noise from rooftop bar above our room and generally not really soundproof -, could use some refurbishment, rooftop (bar) closed for NYE - one of the main reasons we booked this place

Review 7:Location, however hard to get there by car, helpful and friendly staff, parking garage ( expensive though)

Review 8:Very bad experience. Would not recommend this hotel. We were initially assigned with a room with windows facing the hotel's inner lobby with no air coming from the outside. That room felt damp and hot. After we asked to switch rooms, we were assigned to a room with actual outside windows which was extremely small and POORLY cleaned (We found another woman sports bra underneath the chair). For some reason the heating could not be turned off and we found ourselves having to sleep with open windows at the end of December and constantly waking up from street noises. Even though the location is good, we would not go back to this hotel.

Review 9:Location

Review 10:Staff at the reception miserable, we got a room with two single beds even though we requested a double bed when booking. Thankfully we were given a different room with a double bed. Very noisy and extremely warm, air con did not seem to work !

Review 11:Beautiful hotel and great location

Review 12:Maybe because our room has a balcony and face to the street view, so it's a little bit noisy at night and in the morning

Review 13:The location is fantastic!

Review 14:Room 325 - shocking, no light into the room at all, looking inward to the building, looking at a glass roof. Also 324 given to a family with a toddler & a baby whereby they had to climb several stairs with two prams. Shame really because we have stayed at this hotel before and the rooms were completely different. Not value for money on this occasion.

Review 15:Parking @ the hotel and location of it - excellent.

Review 16:Our first night there was so noisy we couldn't sleep at all. The concierge was very helpful and parked the car in their garage for us, but getting the car to the hotel was extremely stressful and difficult. The parking was also quite expensive - we felt 20euros a night was excessive. In retrospect, we'd stay further north next time, outside the Juderia. We really enjoyed the Macarena area a lot more. Plenty of restaurants, bars, shopping, and easier to navigate. Walking the city was not hard, so there was no need to stay in the old part of town.

Review 17:The staff were kind and helpful and front desk staff spoke fluent English. The room was good size, with nice furnishings and very clean. The location was pretty nice - right on the plaza across from the Cathedral, and we had a great view, close to many restaurants and bars.

Review 18:The rooms are a bit dated, old bedspreads, etc.

Review 19:Perfect location in the center of the historic area of town. Everything was within a 10 or 15 minute walk. And the roof bar has STUNNING views!

Review 20:Besides the location, nothing we like. The room is very small and the furnitures are too old. The bed is not comfortable at all. The worst thing is no circulation of the room. We felt we stayed in an oven. There is a AC, but it directly faces to the bed. You can't sleep with the AC on unless you want to get a sick.

Review 21:We love the location, and it's just right on the corner of the cathedral.

Review 22:It was very noise at all night with bells and the noise of people in the street and in the bar that we could hear. Really not the place for people who have come from overseas. Also the pillows were very thin and uncomfortable.

Review 23:So noisy after midnight. Reception staff would fall over if they were forced to smile and help you.

Review 24:You are close to all the attractions, bars, restaurants etc.

Review 25:To get there, the roads are VERY narrow, and some corners are negotiated only by multiple turns. Parking is for small cars only, and even then, rather demanding! Our room was close to a lift (noise), and had a small window with no view. Breakfast was too expensive.

Review 26:The location is excellent, close to the cathedral, the restaurants, the trams, taxis, city tour stops. The staff were helpful and friendly, and all speaking English.

Review 27:Were on 3rd floor so had a little background noise from bar and next door but expected this due to other reviews. Staff a little plastic but again expected due to reviews.

Review 28:Great location, roof top terrace, room!

Review 29:my bedspread had a mark on it which I left for the maid to see but wasn't changed. no mushrooms with breakfast-would have been nice also boiled eggs but had plenty of other choice. no tea or coffee facilities in the room mirror would have been handy in the bedroom as well

Review 30:could not ask for a better central location overlooking the Giralda and Cathedral.- great views from the roof terrace staff very helpful and friendly breakfast good quality and varied. powerful shower close to good tapas bars and 5-10 minute walk for shops.

Review 31:Loud at night from the 4th floor bar - doesn't close until 2-3am. Front desk staff needing more warmth. Pricey, but worth it considering location

Review 32:Size of room and bath amenities were excellent. Location cannot be beat. Period furnishings and decor of hotel is great. Bar on 4th floor excellent - views are amazing!

Review 33:They should explain how to get to the hotel. We had to hire a taxi and follow it to find the place. It would be so easy if they had just given us a basic explanation how to get there.

Review 34:Nothing to dislike

Review 35:Where the hotel is located. The friendly staff and how helpful they were. Pleasant surroundings in the hotel. Made our city break so enjoyable.

Review 36:Perfect location and lovely roof top bar with little pool and beautiful antique furnishings everywhere. But let down by somewhat chaotic breakfast arrangements. Very good coffee and bacon when you managed to get any, despite that always a friendly service.

Review 37:As the room overlooked the square, it could be quite noisy late at night and early in the morning - but the view made it more than worthwhile.

Review 38:Can't stress how fantastic the location is. Amazing view of the Giralda from our room, and an even better view from the rooftop bar.

Review 39:The room was disgusting. Two of us in our group had terrible old rooms with no windows to the outside - just a window onto the main hotel corridor. Uncomfortable beds, mini bar fridge that didn't work - absolutely not 4*. The hotel contacted me a day before we arrived saying they were over booked and wanting to put us all in 2 rooms sharing instead of the 3 doubles we had booked - so I suspect this is why we were given such disgraceful rooms when we insisted on our 3 doubles. Appealing service and uncomfortable stay would NOT reccommend.

Review 40:The location was good right next to the cathedral and all the main sights of Seville.

Review 41:Really only a b&b as no availability of food or drink other than at breakfast and no facilities other than small lounge.

Review 42:Friendly helpful staff. Lovely room with view to Alhambra.

Review 43:Underwhelming greeting from reception staff who remained aloof throughout our stay. We were in a group of 6 and 2 of the 3 couples found the beds really uncomfortable - lumpy and overly hard. Huge disparity in size of rooms despite paying the same rate

Review 44:Fantastic location, just off a main square giving great access to plenty of restaurants and bars. Despite the close proximity, noise from the square was never an issue Roof top terrace a real bonus. Clean rooms and good breakfast

Review 45:Nothing

Review 46:Perfect location in the middle of the city. Rooms spacious and typically Sevillian. Roof top pool with great views over the city and the cathederal.

Review 47:It is almost impossible to drive to - don't try! We ended up parking in a public lot and walking to the hotel. We highly recommend doing that.

Review 48:The hotel could not have been more centrally located - we could walk to almost everything we wanted to see. Also, it was an historical building with a beautiful rooftop pool and terrace overlooking the Cathedral.

Review 49:Rooftop bar extremely expensive. Staff in reception were very formal.

Review 50:Location was superb. The room was quite big and airy with a balcony overlooking the cathedral which is magnificent. Staff in the main hotel bat were very friendly..

Review 51:That we had to pay 30 euros extra for each night for my partner but I think Booking.com should make that more apparent at the time of booking

Review 52:The location was incredible, central to all the things you would want to see and at the doorstep to the cathedral

Review 53:Breakfast rather expensive - there are better and cheaper places to eat nearby. Bedroom quite simple, but adequate.

Review 54:Perfect location. Great roof top bar, very laid back, wonderful view, excellent cocktails. Helpful staff. Lovely reception/lounge area. Good wifi signal.

Review 55:The hotel staff were rather indifferent and not friendly. The shower is over the bath and the cleaning staff were certainly not generous with the soap etc.

Review 56:This hotel overlooks a beautiful square and the Cathedral. Our room was large and had big double doors which, when open, let in lots of light. The room looked down on a street with restaurants in it but was not noisy at night. The breakfast was quite good although it is served in a room with no windows.

Review 57:The room was a little dark as it was in a sort of well with walls only five metres away. Some of the reception staff displayed indifference bordering on hostility. Quite unacceptable.

Review 58:The location was superb, only twenty metres from the cathedral square. The rooftop bar area was a delight, offering views over the cathedral and into the square but far from street noise.

Review 59:Some staff, particularly on reception were unhelpful and sullen. Our friends asked for wine to be delivered to our room on 3 occasions, it was our 40th wedding anniversary, nothing arrived. This was very disappointing!

Review 60:Loved the location and the roof terrace bar with stunning view of the Giralda.

Review 61:The first room was unsuitable with no room to move. The second room was a small improvement. Front desk staff were unfriendly and really had no wish to help you. You have to pay to park.

Review 62:The closeness to the historical area.

Review 63:On the night they had an event on the rooftop it was noisy until quite late. didn't have the breakfast as thought it seemed overpriced and got local cafe's much cheaper

Review 64:Location, the setting of this hotel is unbelievable. The hotel itself has a faded glory about it and the view from our room was non existent (straight across to other room opposite) but the views from the roof top were fabulous and walk out the front door into the cathedral square Roof top pool great for cooling off

Review 65:Booked the hotel for the parking, however we were not allowed to. Said the car was too big. Had to park away from the hotel. Breakfast was adequate only.

Review 66:Convenience for viewing the city.

Review 67:The buffet breakfast was Very disappointing, and all the hot food was cold. I complained and the staff found the heating units under the hot tray were not functioning which they then proceeded to remove and fix, all this in the middle of the breakfast service. Should not happen, But they did not charge me...

Review 68:staff and location, it was my third time to stay there, but it had been 25 yrs. since my last stay and it was better. The pool/bar terrace was super.

Review 69:The room. Small. Felt as if we were in servants quarters. Not enough space. Uncomfortable and small bed for two adults. Very little room to open Suitcases. Inadequate sockets for electrical equipment/charging phones especially by bedside tables.

Review 70:Excellent location Ample Breakfast Rooftop pool and bar

Review 71:The hotel promised a valley side room when booking however by the time we arrived we were in a room facing the back of the hotel. If you don't have a valley or bridge view it's not worth the money. The Resturant and breakfast area also smelled so best to avoid this hotel unless you have some sort of garentee of room location.

Review 72:The only very small negative point was the reception staff. On arrival we checked to see if the pool was open - it was. But they failed to offer us the pool towels which are free if you sign for them. They also did not let us know about the key for the room safe. As I said very small problem easily sorted but would have given this hotel a 10 otherwise.

Review 73:Fantastic hotel in an amazing location. Right next to the cathedral and lots of excellent tapas bars and restaurants. Roof terrace with swimming pool had brilliant views. Pool was small but still able to do a few lengths. Very clean.

Review 74:We only stayed for one night but wish it was longer. hotel was in the perfect location with an amazing view of Seville Cathedral from our room and everything within walking distance. We booked this hotel as it was in the centre and had parking.

Review 75:The Dona Maria is oozing with charm with it's traditional décor and antiques scattered throughout public areas. Great location if you're looking to tour the old town of Seville. The rooftop bar and pool are wonderful with a magnificent view of La Giralda bell tower. We listened to a concert which was taking place on the square below at the cathedral while we enjoyed beer and tapas at sunset...so romantic!

Review 76:Our room window was open to an atrium so we never felt we could get proper fresh air. We were so glad we didn't have a car as the old town is a challenge for strangers to negotiate.

Review 77:Central location with the old town all in walking distance.

Review 78:Great staff, clean, bed was comfortable, soaps and shampoo provided. Easy check in and check out. They kindly called taxi for me. View leaving front doors were the Cathedral and Alcazar!

Review 79:Admittedly the roof terrace bar had excellent views of the cathedral but the prices were exorbitant bearing in mind that the the room price already took the location into account.

Review 80:The location was excellent for a city visit.

Review 81:the hotel decorations are amazing -- lots of old art. beautiful building. loved the rooftop pool, as well as the bar and in particular the live Spanish guitar one evening. great location. would definitely stay there again. really gorgeous hotel. feels like you're staying in authentic Andalucia, not a tourist hotel

Review 82:The double bed was actually two singles put together but made up separately, which is a nuisance! and we prefer to have tea/coffee facilities available.

Review 83:Location was superb and being in a well maintained historic property was a treat! Staff were also friendly and helpful.

Review 84:we arrived hoping for a parking spot but missed out on the last one by only a few minutes. then we had to take it to a public parking spot after being told not room was left. a few hours later we observed a staff member making room for another car by shuffling other around. This is not very good service. Most of the time the reception staff were not very helpful.

Review 85:Excellant location and the facilities of the Hotel were good. Some other reports advised breakfast was not really good but we found it to be very good even though it was an extra cost.

Review 86:The room could have had updated decor. They were clean though Could hear people in rooms next door on one of the nights

Review 87:The facilities were really good. Great location and staff very helpful. Pool/ bar was really nice with a great view over Sevilla Nice lobby and great wifi Located right in the heart of Sevilla

Review 88:we first got a twin rom though we asked for a double the room was very small and stuffy, we complained quit a bit and received a sweet that was just amazing and new. apparently there are amazing room and quit poor conditioned rooms. make sure you sat in a good one- you pay the same for both types . maybe its just amateur of luck. must say the star in reception were not very nice and it was quit a struggle to change rooms.

Review 89:great location. really nice design of room and lobby. great swimming pool and bar on rooftop. just sits on the cathedral so magical views. nice staff in the bar ( no so great in reception)

Review 90:They have a small and limited parking place. The hotel's system indicated that we drank 2 bottles of water from the minibar. But we only drank 1. Receptionist said that they gotta check it, but the process took a very long time. We could not wait more bec. we had to go to another city in the morning. They charged 2 bottles of water from us.

Review 91:perfect location, nice rooms

Review 92:It is too noisy to sleep at nights due to the live music at the terrace. It's so loud. Staff was so rude and incompetent. They charge a bottle of water we didn't drink because they made a mistake and couldn't reserve it.

Review 93:Location is great. Atmosphere and the decoration of the hotel is cool.

Review 94:Location - perfect - right in cathedral square and a short hop to lots of eating places. Room comfortable and clean and good value breakfast. Rooftop bar amazing view over square at night with cathedral all lit up - a must see.

Review 95:There was always a perfume smell at the reception desk and it was too strong, especially in the summer heat.

Review 96:Excellent location. Just step out of the hotel and you are in front of La Giralda. There were twin beds in our room and each was the size of a double. The room was clean and spacey and the personnel were very helpful.

Review 97:I didn't have any bad experience! I expected to have a better swimming pool!

Review 98:I liked the position of the hotel It was near the most important attractions! Great location!!

Review 99:The customer service could be better. A small complaint was made and we felt that we were not listened to. The car park was expensive.

Review 100:Location- excellent but getting access to the hotel was difficult when one has to navigate the streets with a rental car was not easy.

Review 101:My wife and I are seasoned travelers and have spent many weeks in Spain over the past few summers. This was one of the worst hotel experiences (for the money we spent) that we have encountered. Upon check - in, the type of room we had requested was not available; the desk clerk's response to our displeasure was, ¨Then you can stay at another hotel.¨ Dark halls; poor AC (110 degrees in Seville in the summer!) Very small rooftop pool with no lounge chairs; over priced bar, outdated bathrooms. There are better hotels in the area, so take the time to look.

Review 102:Good central location and though the pool was small, it was nice to have to break the summer heat.

Review 103:Rooftop pool in day- nightclub by night till early hours. Very noisy need earplugs. Hotel basic.

Review 104:Location superb and I suppose for the money if earplugs issued at reception with every check-in it would be ok. Long track from car park with luggage.

Review 105:position excellent a bit difficult to get to by road.excellent value for money and lovely view with a drink in your hand on the roof well done we will be back.

Review 106:No parking available on site. Our car was parked a good 10 minute walk away.

Review 107:Great central location, but still quiet. Great restaurants with in 5 min walk. Lovely, if small pool area, much needed in the July heat. History of the hotel itself, decor makes you feel immersed in its rich history.

Review 108:Wifi was awfully slow, i know the saying you don't need internet on holidays but its very handy when you have to search restaurants/make reservations for places to visit or just want to relax in your room during siesta time. We heard other guests complaining about it too. Also, we requested one double bed for our stay, and even though we were at hotel at 3pm (checking time), we were told none available. They didn't even look at our request for double-bed as she was surprised when i pointed out. Could have been better.

Review 109:Great location, next to Cathedral and Royal Alcazar palace. Hotel is very historic on its own, use to be a mansion of Spanish elite back in the day. Hotel Decor is very nice too.

Review 110:Swimming pool was quite small, and the flimsy sunbeds weren't exactly ideal for sunbathing. However the view was definitely worthed it.

Review 111:The view from the bar on rooftop was amazing. It was not too crowded when I went and drinks were of a reasonable price. Bedroom was clean and comfortable. Location was very convenient, walkable distance to most of the attractions and restuarants.

Review 112:Only try to drive to this hotel via the maze of small streets map programs provide if you have a small vehicle and feel adventurous. Otherwise, take the largest street to the square and veer left.

Review 113:Perfect location with great views from rooftop bar and pool area.

Review 114:The rooms were comfortable although were quite old.

Review 115:Right next to the cathedral and within close walking distance to local attractions and restaurants. The pool was amazing in the 40° days. Great view from the rooftop.

Review 116:Our room was small and smelled fishy (I think agressive cleaning stuff). the breakfast was ok but nothing sepcial and one day when we were late many had already left.

Review 117:The location of the hotel is great, next to the cathedral. Its also a nice hotel, with a fantastic roof with view and a swimmingpool very nice after a long hot day in sevilla!

Review 118:Comfortable room with nice air conditioning in room. The reception booked our cab to return to the airport. A great location Walking distance to the Seville cathedral and other great monuments

Review 119:Loved everything.

Review 120:Location amazing. Staff really professional and friendly. Chose Dona Maria over the EME Cathedral due to the less busy rooftop bar. And so so glad I did. Called for a drink to EME one evening...staff aloof and slow. For €12 per cocktail I didn't even get a coaster let alone a smile! Well done Dona Maria you should be very proud. Must mention Manuel at reception lovely gentleman very helpful. Bar staff very knowledgeable about their products also. Superior room worth the extra for the balcony and cathedral view...quite surreal to wake up to that view every morning. Thank you for an excellent stay.

Review 121:1. Having failed to find the hotel using our sat nav, because we could not believe that we could navigate such narrow streets (no pedestrians could use one or two of them while we squeesed down) we ended up hiring a taxi and following it to the hotel: the hotel should reassure prospective guests about their location. 2. There was a door (locked) between my room and another room. Conversation in the other room might as well have been in my room; luckily they were speaking French, a language in which I am not proficient. 3. The coffee at breakfast was from a machine which was unpredictable in the quantity and quality it produced.

Review 122:The air conditioning in my room was remarkably quiet. The person who parked our car was very helpful and spoke excellent English.

Review 123:Unfriendly and unhelpfull staff.(I carried even my bag although my arm injured). The room is not 4 stars quality smelling heavy cleaning materials no coffee machine or even no water as a treat. Wi fi signals so weak used my 3G cos of the wi fi quality. Worst 4 stars hotel i ve ever been stayed

Review 124:Just good location

Review 125:The pool area was a little small but very pleasant with beautiful views overlooking the roof tops of Seville. Due to it being a small area it could get a little overcrowded. However, as it was June it wasn't so crowded that it was a problem for us. I get the feeling July and August would be a different story. The bar at the pool area was too expensive; yes we were situated on one of the main squares in Seville but the bars and restaurants in the square were quite reasonably priced. That said; we still had a few beers at the pool bar everyday. I guess it is what it is so we didn't let it stop us. The room was a little old with not as much care taken to it as in the rest of the hotel but it was clean and it had it's charms.

Review 126:I knew this hotel was in a great location but I didn't know just how great. The success of my booking it for that reason was a fluke. It is literally right opposite the Cathedral, the main things to see are all just a stone throw away and it is surrounded by very pleasant restaurants and more. The hotel was deorated in my favourite style; vintage, antique and shic. If you are going to Seville I would definitely recommend this hotel. It really is very nice and we would stay again for sure.

Review 127:Breakfast((( does not cost it's money - 14 euro per person. Food is dull and cheap, does not respond the level and style of the hotel. Better eat in the cafés nearby.

Review 128:Hotel is very beautiful inside. Nice furniture in the lobby and many charming antique pieces everywhere! Sure the view from the roof is magnificent and pool only makes it better.

Review 129:We asked for a room with a baby cot (and called in advance to confirm) and got the smallest room in the hotel, no space for the cot. Our baby slept in the bathroom. We were told that nothing could be done because we were the last to checkin that day. This was not true because some friends of us were checking in 30 min later. No internet in our room. A leak in the bathroom. Terrible breakfast

Review 130:Location was great, staff was polite although not very helpful

Review 131:The rooms were very tired and could do with refurbishment. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. Like sleeping on a rock! Sheets and towels all need to be replaced.

Review 132:Within walking distance of everything, location couldn't be better. The pool was great to be able to relax and cool down after a day of sightseeing.

Review 133:Nothing! Maybe the only thing that we had to pay extra 30€ for parking and in cash, but that didn't really bother us as we got a room at great price.

Review 134:Fantastic location just in the centre of old town, on the square in front of cathedral of Sevilla - couldn't have asked for more!! Hotel with antiques inside that is elegant and brings you back a century or two ago at least but with mod cons:) Great little pool on the roof top with bar! Private parking is a bonus.

Review 135:terrace bar very expensive

Review 136:big airy rooms, comfortable, boutique old palace hotel, individually styled rooms, perfect location, air conditioning, would definitely stay here again.

Review 137:Old fashioned bedspreads. Just weren't necessary.

Review 138:The view from the roof top bar overlooking the cathedral. Great gin and tonics too! The roof top pool, perfect for cooling off after a hot day sightseeing.
