Reviews for Anchorage Guest House

Review 1:No complaints.

Review 2:Very friendly and accommodating people from start to finish. Excellent choice of breakfasts, cooked to order. Comfortable relaxing stay.

Review 3:There was nothing to dislike

Review 4:Marc and Sylvia were both welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was always very tasty and hot. The specials breakfasts were also very tasty and we would certainly book another holiday if visiting Brixham again.

Review 5:Marc and Sylvie are the perfect hosts and were extremely helpful with helping to book rooms for relatives who were arriving separately. The rooms are clean, comfortable, quiet and very reasonably priced. The breakfasts are beautifully cooked and presented, with choices that are a cut above the standard Full English plus variations. I highly recommend the Croque Monsieur and the Eggs Royale!

Review 6:The long 5 hour drive back in the dark. : ( This was due to prior commitments. Would have loved to of stayed for breakfast again!

Review 7:This is one of the most friendliest, attentive and welcoming couple I have ever met. The room myself & my partner were given was absolutely fantastic! (Room 7) From the window you could see the sea. : ) The room itself was lovely and clean. Now onto the breakfast! It was sensational! I could not fault a single thing! The location from this gorgeous B&B is roughly 5-10 minutes walk to Brixham harbour.

Review 8:There was nothing I didn't like

Review 9:The owners were very friendly & welcoming the room was lovely comfortable & clean and the breakfast was superb.

Review 10:Sylwia & Mark were excellent hosts, nothing was to much trouble for them. great choice of breakfast also very good food.nice clean comfortable room.

Review 11:We were given room number one, just inside the front door. Very comfortable but quite damp. Clothes felt damp in the morning and after packing and going home, clothes were still damp when home 6 hours later.

Review 12:Very hospitable. Breakfast brilliant. Great location, although on a main road was very quiet. One review states steep hill into Brixham. This nearly put me off booking this hotel, but I went for it anyway. It is not a steep hill, it is a lovely 5 - 10 minute stroll and not in the least bit steep. I would have no problem staying at this accommodation again. Wonderful.

Review 13:A bit of a walk to the town centre but we knew that.

Review 14:The hosts were amazing! They were able to provide us with a lot of local knowledge about restaurants, villages and sites to see. Breakfast was plentiful, lots of options. Free wifi and parking.

Review 15:Only things we would comment on was we stayed in the "king suite" where bathroom was very small and the room is located at the very front of the house close to a busy road into and out of town centre so some traffic noise at night and early morning.

Review 16:Ideally located for holidaying in Brixham and Torbay area, very friendly and helpful owners.

Review 17:Excellent guest house host's made you feel very welcome the minute you walked in . Breakfast was fabulous, the whole place was spotlessly clean. We would recomend it to anyone.

Review 18:the only down side was such a small sink in the toilet and would have preferred a separate toilet to the shower room

Review 19:location, staff, room, breakfast very good.

Review 20:I had an attic room which was very warm and had to have window open, with consquent traffic noise, and fan going all night. The stairs to the upper rooms are very steep.

Review 21:The location and the breakfast.

Review 22:The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. The location was within walking distance of the town and beach and there was also easy access to Torquay on the local ferry. The room was comfortable and the food was excellent with a varied choice. All at a reasonable price.

Review 23:The bathroom and shower needs updating. Also the bed, bedding and pillow slips seemed quite old and not comfortable enough to the standard that a 4 star should be. 3 Stars would be more appropriate and the charges should be £10 per night less.

Review 24:The breakfasts were both varied and good. Parking facility off road was also an advantage. The resort of Brixham was very disappointing as it had hardly any restaurants, the pubs were very poor and on that basis alone we would not return.

Review 25:Very warm welcome from Sylvia & Mark, lovely rooms with little extras, great location, really nice freshly cooked breakfast and choice of specials. Ample parking and lovely garden to sit in. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend. Couldn't have picked a better place to stay.

Review 26:The rooms were very clean but a bit small even for 2 people. We kept bumping into each other and would have liked more room.

Review 27:Mark and Sylvia were very friendly and very personable, there was nothing they couldn't do for you. The breakfast were the best we've ever had at a B&B and probably won't get them as good as they were anywhere else. It was very close to Brixham harbour and on a bus route as we came by train. Good they had wifi for my daughter.

Review 28:Location is very good, far enough out of town so nice and quiet, close enough for an easy walk in. Bus stop adjacent, plentiful parking. easy access to road network.

Review 29:there was no bad experience here. but only 1. thing I could mention is the TV has only a few channels,

Review 30:My stay was for only one night. but wish I could have stayed longer. friendly welcome. easy parking. bus stop right out side if needed, comfortable bed included bath or shower. a choice of 3 different breakfast's...also the garden was nice to sit out in the sun,

Review 31:Leaving, wanted to stay longer!

Review 32:Couldn't fault anything. Location great, ample parking, on hop12 bus route, welcome fantastic. Rooms clean & spacious and beds very comfortable. Breakfast menu was great, superb choice and food outstanding. Can't wait to go back.

Review 33:Our room was at the front on the main road which was noisy during the night. Although the windows were double glazed, we had to open the small once during the night for air. I would book again but would prefer a room away from the road.

Review 34:The welcome from Mark with tea in the garden. The room was spotless and clean. Great breakfast. Mark and Sylvia were friendly and informative.

Review 35:That we hadn't got more time to stay

Review 36:Made to feel very welcome . Breakfast delicious. And tourist information was very useful .would definately go again .

Review 37:B&b was fantastic host were very welcoming and made us feel right at home from the moment we stepped through the door. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing choices were fantastic and great care and attention was taken with every plate. Will not hesitate to stay again

Review 38:There was nothing that we could be negative about. Perhaps elderly couples should be advised beforehand about the stairs to the attic rooms.

Review 39:We appreciated the warmth with which we were received, the humour, the concern, and the breakfast!

Review 40:Our room was excellent and every little thing complete to detail in the room so cosy, yum is all l can say about breakfast,we stayed a week here and l will definitely book here again

Review 41:I hesitate to call this a bad experience, but a bath would have been good.

Review 42:Friendly hosts, who were also informative. The breakfasts were delicious. I had the best ever kippers. It was a real bonus that we were offered tea/coffee on arrival. The garden was beautiful, though bad weather didn't give us a chance to sit in it. The bus service into town and to Torquay and Paignton was excellent. The bus stop was on our doorstep too!

Review 43:Stairs are a bit steep. We are getting a bit old for steep stairs! Would request a ground floor room next time.

Review 44:All of it. The breakfast was amazing, an excellent range of food available. The owners were very friendly and helpful, offering any help asked of them

Review 45:Phil and Silvia and great host, that really love what they do. Loved our room and breakfast was very good. Welcome tea and coffee was really appreciated

Review 46:Breakfast a bit strange, cold tomotoes, under cooked fried egg. We had scrambled egg next day which was very good.

Review 47:Very good position for visiting Brixham and area. Clean, comfortable, and friendly. Good value. Everything worked.

Review 48:Didn't stay long enough.

Review 49:Marc & Silwya are a fantastic couple, that offer a marvelously clean, cosy stay with a great breakfast. Superb. 11/10.

Review 50:on arrival we were ushered into the dining room and given the information on guest house, felt a bit formal but once we got to know owner its just his way dont be put off. you will enjoy youre stay.

Review 51:nice and clean and freshl.

Review 52:Shame about location between 2 roads

Review 53:Very friendly, helpful and attentive hosts. Met us before we got out of car;carried luggage. Delicious breakfast with lots of choice. Good room facilities

Review 54:Although the property is on the outskirts of town, there is a bus stop outside the property - busses run every 10 minutes. Very convenient! Nice not to worry about parking.

Review 55:Nothing was too much trouble, have been singing their praises all weekend. 100% will be going back. Thank you for making a very difficult time manageable.

Review 56:Ours was an upstairs "under the eaves" room which was a bit small and constricted, as was the shower room. This is not a criticism though, as the price reflected room size, and otherwise all was comfy and pleasant.

Review 57:Pretty much everything. Our hosts were genuinely keen to make sure we had a good stay. Very happy.

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:The owners were extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming, the room had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was perfect We will definately return

Review 60:Perfectly adequate for the purpose. Effort had been made to keep the property up to standard and the owners care for the well being of their guests. We were always aware that the owners had our comfort and well being in mind

Review 61:Nothing - can highly recommend this guest house to anyone.

Review 62:Marc & Sylwia welcomed us at the door, carried our luggage & personal items, served a yummy, classy breakfast and suggested places to visit and walks to enjoy! Home from home & so much nicer than a hotel! Will return!

Review 63:Sylwia was an exceptional host, super friendly, attentive and accommodating; The room was cute and warm; The decor was modern and not frumpy as can often be the case with seaside town B&Bs; Sylvia's husband cooked delectable breakfasts; The hotel was less than 10 minutes walk to centre of town so don't need to drive to get dinner/pub etc

Review 64:Considering this was a last minute booking, I found the owners to be pleasant, hospitable and helpful people, and would be my first choice for accommodation should I come back to the area

Review 65:It would have been nice to have a lounge to sit in in the evening although the dining room was accessible at any time.

Review 66:Marc & Sylwia are very friendly and hospitable. I had a single room and as I was only staying for one night, the room was fine for my purposes. Very clean and the breakfast was enjoyable. I would stay there again but maybe pay extra for a larger room.

Review 67:We really enjoyed our stay all though for only one night. We could not have chosen a better place and location. Good friendly service excellent facilities and breakfast was amazing. Will certainly stay again

Review 68:Everything about this guest house the staff the room and the breakfast excellent service .also there is a bus stop across the road which takes you to the harbour

Review 69:Some traffic noise but not really a problem.

Review 70:Friendly owners, great location well within walking distance of local facilities at Brixham. Bus stop just down the road.

Review 71:A little way from the centre. Although it was on the No 12 buss route.

Review 72:Cleanliness, Breakfast, friendly. The owners couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was second to none. Room was clean tidy and comfortable.

Review 73:Nothing!

Review 74:We had a fabulous time at the Anchorage. The staff were really warm and friendly, the breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel/bed and breakfast, and believe me, there have been many! The location is ideal for a stroll into town, the place itself is friendly and fun. Looking forward to going again!

Review 75:Only the fact that we were only there for two nights!

Review 76:Hosts Sylwia and Marc were so friendly and welcoming. They couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast (choice and quality) was fabulous. After only two nights, we felt we were leaving friends.

Review 77:A little bit noicy from the traffic during daytime.

Review 78:Everything really, nice couple, very serviceminded. Tasteful and clean rooms. Good breakfast. Close to everything, with the bus right on the doorstep. A very nice garden to relax in.

Review 79:Nothing to comment

Review 80:Lovely breakfast.felt our bedroom no 6 was_very clean decoration was very tastefully done .only stayed one night.but will go back another time.

Review 81:Although the bedroom wasn't ensuite, there was a sink in the room, it didn't bother me using the bathroom right next to my room.

Review 82:On my arrival I was offered tea or coffee which was very welcoming! My room was very clean and enjoyed a comfortable night sleep. The breakfast was plentiful with a varied choice. Sylvia and Marc are great hosts. Would defiantly stay again!

Review 83:we were offered burnt toast. There was a total misunderstanding of our bill on departure and I felt very embarraced and uncomfortable with the way I was approached by the owner Mark

Review 84:It was convenient as it was close to my sons home.

Review 85:No fault to find.

Review 86:Really enjoyed our couple of days at the anchorage! mark and silvy were welcoming, warm hosts who genuinely seem to care about their customers and deliver a homely, honest and personal stay. The room was clean and tidy and both my wife and I slept extremely well! The breakfast was exeptional with plenty of choice and well delivered front of house by Silvy. We would recommend the anchorage to anyone and we would stay again! Thank you!

Review 87:The only thing was that because of traffic noise we were unable to keep window open at night.

Review 88:Like the friendliness of the owners we were made to feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble.excellent breakfast plenty of choice.

Review 89:Although adequate, the shower space could be more generous.

Review 90:Wonderful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfasts were lovely. Great location and very close to all local amenities and attractions. For myself, the Anchorage was a great base location from which to explore the South West Coastal Path while also spending time with 'family'. Great views with the added bonus of challenging exercise! Thank you both for a lovely weekend. All the best to your good selves and to all who have the pleasure of staying at the Anchorage. I definitely plan to return.

Fabulous breakfast so much. Attention to detail wonderful guest house will definitely be staying again. Everything was perfect. Fantastic value for money in fact don't know how they made any money.

Review 93:our rooms were very nice but being as they were in the loft and attic we found them very warm. Although there was a ceiling fan it did not seem to help much. so if went again would choose a room on ground floor
