Reviews for Upper Neatham Mill

Review 1:Everything was perfect and at great value. The owner Glen greeted me at the door and made sure I knew how everything worked and had even set up the ironing board for me, felt very welcome. Bed was very comfy, shower was the best iv had while staying away, location was perfect with it being nice and quiet yet only a 2 minute drive from the train station and the breakfast was second to none with a wide range of choice with the owner even making his own bread everyday. This will be the only place I would stay while working in Alton now, couldn't recommend this place enough.

Review 2:Extremely comfortable accommodation in fabulous rural surroundings. Made to feel very welcome by Glen, the owner. 25 minute leisurely walk from town centre with good selection of pubs and restaraunts.

Review 3:There are no hotel facilities as such and no dinner in the evening (I went to a very nice local pub). Also fairly remote down a country lane, so in the dark probably best to take the car. Paying for wifi is an irritation.

Review 4:A very friendly welcome and super-speedy check-in. A very comfortable room and lovely spacious bathroom with bath/shower. Very peaceful and quiet to work in the evening - and a lovely breakfast in the morning.

Review 5:You could hear the guest next door very clearly - running water, light switches, TV. There was a limited choice for breakfast - we have had far more options at half the price elsewhere. Breakfast was charged extra - this is a B&B - note the second B !! This made it even more expensive. For what was charged - £57 per person per night - it was poor value for money. It was an average stay but at double the usual cost experienced when staying elsewhere around the country. I think that £228 for 2 nights' stay is far too much for what was offered.

Review 6:Comfortable room, clean, very friendly proprietor.

Review 7:A little hard to find. Totally my fault relying on the satnav, should have looked on Google Earth first to identify the end of their lane. Paying for WiFi. Not much else!

Review 8:Glenn's friendly welcome and hospitality. Lovely warm clean room and bathroom. Great breakfast. Link up with local gym.

Review 9:The location is very remote and somewhat difficult to find, but this shouldn't detract from the overall quality.

Review 10:Personal service from house owner, and the breakfast was of the highest quality. The room was perfectly clean and well appointed - and at last a hotel owner has recognized the need for a high number of power points!

Review 11:A positive for me, but could be negative for some - no phone signal in the room (2) although signal is fine outside

Review 12:I booked the B & B for my second week working in Alton, having stayed at Four Mark Travelodge the previous week, what a contrast!, Set in a beautifully and thoughtfully converted barn, with lots of interesting features and a modern eco-friendly set up. There was a warm welcome from Glenn who saw me arrive and helped me in with my bags, before rustling up a tasty toasted sandwich. The room was tastefully set up, with LED lighting, lots of power points close to the bed, I find most chain hotels never consider that you need to plug in phones etc next to the bed, so this is a welcome change. The bed was very comfortable and I found the room quiet and I slept uninterrupted, even with the window open. The shower room was nicely tiled and had separate thermostatic heating controls, so you could have a lovely warm towels and shower room while leaving the bedroom heating off. A positive for me, although could be negative for others was a lack of phone signal in the bedroom (2), although I got reasonable reception outside in the car park and orchard. The breakfast was lovely, not a huge quantity, but lovely local produce, speciality sausage and fresh apple juice from the orchard I will be returning!

Review 13:Very loud and constant traffic noise from dual carriage way, could not use outdoor areas, too loud. It's overpriced for room when breakfast is not included and no temperature control (and can't open windows because of noise). Stayed at two other b&bs that week and better value for us as rooms included breakfast in the £110 room charge.

Review 14:Lovely owner, huge and comfortable bed, clean room. Good for a business stop over, but not a relaxing break.

Review 15:Owner himself came out to greet me on my arrival. The bedroom was fabulous and the location was only 6 miles from my first appointment next day. I would definitely stay there if I am in the area again.

Review 16:Nothing to downgrade my overall opinion but the room lighting was poor if you wanted to read ib bed. The bath was very slippery and thus was difficult to leave.

Review 17:The quality of the bed and the range of options for breakfast. The attentiveness of the owner.

Review 18:Nothing not to like.

Review 19:Peace and quiet, although not too far from anywhere. The room was very comfortable and very clean. Glenn was a very good host. The walk to the White Hart pub in the village was approx. 10 minutes, the food was superb and the hosts very welcoming.

Review 20:wifi is chargeable.

Review 21:Good sized room with quality TV of a decent size. Fresh coffee was a bonus. Good sized bathroom with large shower. Breakfast - excellent choice and all freshly cooked. Location - quiet and relaxed. Easy to find, just off the A31 therefore quick access to everywhere else.

Review 22:If I had known before exactly what to expect I would probably have taken food and some wine with me as the surroundings were lovely to sit and eat outside. But in the end I ate at a beautiful pub which I would not have seen otherwise! Would be nice to have a bottle of water and tissues provided in the room but otherwise everything was lovey.

Review 23:Like the breakfast, great to be catered for as a veggie. Setting is really lovely and very modern, lean and comfortable accommodation. Good value too. Liked the cafetiere and real coffee, a very nice touch.

Review 24:Nothing

Review 25:Very well presented and furnished, very good breakfast.

Review 26:Nice clean rooms, perfectly fine for short business trip.

Review 27:Peace and quiet. Easy to get to Breakfast

Review 28:The welcome, the room and the (vegetarian) breakfast were all exceptional.

Review 29:Close to busy roads for commuting but not a road sounds to hear, it was peaceful and quaint. Lovely breakfast.

Review 30:Lovely peaceful location. Really friendly helpful staff. Super comfy bed. Super hot shower. Really pleased

Review 31:Staff and sourounding

Review 32:Very helpful and friendly staff. Great breakfast. A very comfortable stay. I would definitely stay again.

Review 33:Price for staying the night. And breakfast extra and expensive

Review 34:Renovation of old building and it's surroundings

Review 35:, but missed a view from window.

Review 36:Everything

Review 37:Lovely quiet location and excellent standards of cleanliness and comfort.

Review 38:Great location, excellent breakfast, comfortable and larger room than typical for single occupant with good wifi access and very helpful owner. Totally hassle free.

Review 39:Bed sheet looked like it had a mark on it, wasn't sure if it was dirt or stain, could hear next door shower

Review 40:Room was very spacious, modern and clean, bathroom was massive, lovely setting, very quiet. Breakfast was lovely, owner very friendly and helpful

Review 41:Nothing all was very good, except that regardless of what you had for breakfast it was the same price - so if you had a full English versus one piece of toast - same price!

Review 42:Friendly welcome, comfortable bed, good facilities and very good location for work. Would stay again.

Review 43:What's not to like!!!

Review 44:My feelings of the whole experience are very much share with a fellow guest, Graham from Saint Pardoux France. Glenn is a very good host and makes you feel very welcome, cooks a fantastic breakfast and clearly enjoys having people staying at the Mill. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet for a good nights sleep. I would deffinately stay again and can't praise it enough!!!!!

Review 45:The whole experience started on exiting the car, even though I didn't arrive until 10pm the host, Glenn greeted me with a welcoming smile and continued by ensuring that I was not only settled in to my room but gave me a quick tour to make sure that I was familiar with all the facilities. The room was well appointed and actually felt more like a bedroom at home rather than a hotel room, cosy and warm (it is March after all) with an excellent bed. I was so comfortable I really didn't want to get up the next morning. The breakfast selection was varied and even my off-menu choices were always well prepared. The Upper Neatham Mill prides itself on its Eco/Bio theme and excelled on all levels, especially on the food front - wonderful, Glenn even makes his own fresh home baked bread and jams ! One memorable morning I had the privilege of eating breakfast whilst watching an Egret fishing in the nearby river, I don't get that at home. I cannot fault the place, i'm just jealous that I don't live there myself !

Review 46:It's a great getaway for city dwellers. Really cosy place with awesome friendly staff running it. The homemade breakfast is really good too! Will definitely visit again!

Review 47:I stayed in Room 4 which is very comfortable but unfortunately only has velux windows so you can't see the surrounding gardens and countryside.

Review 48:Lovely location, Very comfortable room, Good quality bedroom and shower room fixtures and fittings, bed sheets and towels, huge shower head, Friendly and hospitable owner, Fresh and tasty breakfast, especially the homemade apple juice.

Review 49:We didn't dislike anything but talked to the owner about the potential of the outside space and perhaps adding things to do for visitors. He advised that he was already building a tennis court and was considering a mini golf course

Review 50:The owner was very helpful and friendly. Photos accurately portray the rooms Quiet location with lots of outside space Room key also opened main door so you could come and go as you please Breakfast was great Although it's a B&B, there was the offer of sandwiches later in the day if needed

Review 51:No heat, the weather was cold. On arrival the room was cold, eventuallythere was some heat in the bathroom towel rail. When I went out at 1830I told the owner the room was very cold and was told that he would sortit out. When I returned some 2 hours later there was still no heat andthe towel rail had been turned down a bit. The information in the roomshows limited times for hot water and no central heating in summer,a 10degree day in April is not summer. This information should be on thewebsite. This was my second stay. Never again.

Review 52:Clean with comfortable bed.

Review 53:Breakfast could have been better. Suggest some prepared fruit would be a good addition.

Review 54:Lovely location and very friendly hosts. The property has an interesting heritage.

Review 55:Very welcoming, rooms immaculate and very comfy, all amenities available in room, plus books to read while winding down which is a nice touch. Local pub short distance up the road with very nice food and lovely warm open fires. Fresh homemade bread for breakfast nice bonus and host was friendly and welcoming. The rooms have lots of character making them stand out from some of the other generic hotels. Will definitely stay again!
