Reviews for Tullie Inn
Review 1:It was perfect.
Review 2:The staff are all so lovely and welcoming and the location is perfect, I enjoyed it so much so that I'm heading back up this weekend for another overnight.
Review 3:The food was a let down we returned it immediately and were leaving hotel to go outside for food when we were told we could order again and it would be free we did but at end of meal were charged for desserts and drink which I thought was poor service and poor taste the sticky toffee pudding was poor the sauce was cold which ruined it totally hence why it was left . Breakfast was a disgrace everything was deep fried I would expect this sort of breakfast from a burger van not from a hotel ,, the food has gone right downhill on speaking with another guest he also returned 3 dishes it is not satisfactory and don't feel I would ever return which is sad really as we always looked forward to our visit . Also was woken at 7.30am with banging coming from below bottles clattering etc
Review 4:We have been visiting this hotel for 7years as we like the surrounding area
Review 5:We were disappointed in our room this time, we were right next to the train station as apposed to looking out to the boats like last time. The bed was too hard and the windows were mouldy! We had dinner in the restaurant but had limited choice due to the weather prohibiting any deliveries. At breakfast there was no bread, butter or hash browns despite there being two fully stocked shops on the same road! We loved our first stay but we're disappointed this time.
Review 6:The restaurant and bar is lovely and the location is great for exploring Loch Lomond.
Review 7:Decent breakfast but ran out of sausages, so non on the second morning due to a delivery issue. The weather was very wet so we didn't get to explore as much as we would have liked. Nothing anyone can do about the weather
Review 8:Great staff, good location and well worth another visit in the future. We visited for a friends wedding and we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast will set you up for the day. Free wi-fi in the bar areas but not in the rooms (as advertised)
Review 9:The staff were really nice and helpful and the room, service and food were excellent. I would recommend staying here anytime. I was really impressed with the standard of the room.
Review 10:Disappointed that they had run out of sausages for breakfast. I was looking forward to them especially for the price I paid for b&b. I like a firm bed bed but it was rock solid and not comfortable.
Review 11:Staff were pleasant as always I like the back door guest exit/entrance
Review 12:Booked a family room which we discovered was 2 bedroom with separate bath and shower which was a pleasant surprise. Enjoyed the facilities and restaurant. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Review 13:We didn't get a Scottish breakfast please amend this as soon as possible you can get a full English breakfast anywhere plz plz amend.
Review 14:It's a wonderful place to stay i wish we had time to stay longer, the staff were attentive and smart Danielle was fantastic we'll be back very soon well done the tullie inn.
Review 15:Was quite annoying that no food was being served when we arrived - it was about 8:30pm but apparently this is quite normal for the area. We went to McDonalds in the end, so no matter, but would have been nice to eat on site :-) Seems the decor in the rooms is a bit behind the downstairs areas, but sure this will follow in good time.
Review 16:Beautifully decorated bar and restaurant - stunning. Friendly staff, home baked cakes, good solid breakfast served til 10 which is a nice treat, comfy bed, good bathroom. Very clean.
Review 17:Our whole stay was excellent, staff so friendly and courteous, food top class, entertainment and room superb, totally loved it, booked again going back soon, would definitely recommend.
Review 18:The only downfall was the d.j who needs to update his music.. playlist wasnt great was mostly younger ones in bar felt as though the playlist was for d.j. as he was the only one up dancing.
Review 19:The Tullie Inn was beautiful ..staff very helpful and chatty...food was fantastic and rooms were perfect will defo go back to visit.
Review 20:It's a little bit noisy on a weekend. It's a lively pub (which we thoroughly enjoyed) and the music can naturally be heard in the rooms above it, however, this finishes at 1am - fine. The problem is that the street outside remains very noisy until well on to 3-4am (maybe due to other places along the road staying open later?)and the dainty little single pane Windows unfortunately let in quite a bit of this noise. Apart from this, everything else was smashing :)
Review 21:The staff were super friendly, very professional and willing to help, the room was a great size and everything was very clean. Dinner of two mixed grills was delivered promptly, was hot and delicious and good value (especially with a residents discount). Breakfast was great, served in the lovely "glasshouse" section of the property.
Review 22:Breakfast and food was a little disappointing, simple instructions were missed by staff at breakfast.
Review 23:The staff were friendly and very helpful, the facilities were very good, clean and brilliant location.
Review 24:Our room was absolutely freezing. Didn't get a good sleep the first night due to it being so cold. We had to sleep with the electric fire in the second night, which I didn't feel was very safe.
Review 25:Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Food is amazing!
Review 26:The only thing that was outwith the hotels control was the noise of other guests at 04:30 in the morning and noise in the corridor.
Review 27:The location was ideal for the purpose of our visit. The staff both on arrival and throughout the whole stay were excellent and very friendly.
Review 28:Great location next to Loch Lomond cruises and the railway station. The bar and restaurant area was very modern, the rooms traditional and comfortable. Free parking
Review 29:There's no heating in the bathroom, but otherwise it's ok.
Review 30:Excellent place, stylish and clean, good restaurant, very tasty breakfast, would def stay again.
Review 31:We had some issues with the food. Evening meal took a long time and then when it arrived there was no starters -staff had forgot. Breakfast, staff had to go out to buy eggs as they had none for the breakfast.
Review 32:The room was a good size and comfortable. Staff were friendly.
Review 33:The room was far too noisy. Bathroom was absolutely baltic. The heater did not seem to work AT ALL. Very grumpy staff girl tried to explain next moring this was due to the heating being set on timer. One big fat lie. Overall staff in The Tullie Inn cares much about personal chat than customers. Never in rush to serve you .
Review 34:The location. Balloch town centre, close to other bars/restaurants,.
Review 35:Room was complete opposite to the whole theme of the inn. Very dated and over priced!! Not worth the money for 1 night stay!
Review 36:Location, resturant and bar were lovely and modern.
Review 37:Rooms were a bit dated. Service was a real mix bag everyone was pleasant etc but long waiting times for food and poor communication between staff members slightly marred our otherwise lovely stay
Review 38:Location was great. Close to everything, nice bar
Review 39:The steak as described above and the dj on sat night was awful.
Review 40:Lovely and clean. Food was really good except for my partners rib eye steak. It was battered so flat it looked awful and literally was served with chips only. We queried this but told thats how it comes. All other food was fantastic
Review 41:Staff were so attentive, we had forgotten our push chair for our son and had left at home and we're attending a wedding in balloch one of the staff were so.kind to lend us one for the night. Food was amazing and this hotel definitely needs to be more than 3 * would definitely stay again xx
Review 42:Server at breakfast didn't bring toast which was ordered and then asked a second time and still didn't deliver. This was an exception to the rest of the staff.
Review 43:Pleasant staff in dining room for evening meal.
Review 44:Unable to connect to the hotel internet, although we were able to connect to the WIFI from the train station. The food in the attached restaurant was good, but the service was appalling.
Review 45:Next door to the train station and pleasant walk to the lake.
Review 46:This hotel is less busy when it gets colder..and the prices come down as a result. I have been staying here for over 10 years. Sometimes I get a lovely room..sometimes I get a pretty basic compact room. I have paid the same price for both which annoys me.
Review 47:Balloch is a lovely little town, with nice pubs and restaurants. Infact more have been added since my last visit. The Tullie is the best pub in town.
Review 48:Were in a different room this time, and the bathroom blinds were filthy, left this on comment card to give them a chance to rectify.
Review 49:Second time staying here, so knew what to expect. Great value ror money. Wifi great in public areas but poor in rooms Staff were extremely pleasant
Review 50:The actual rooms need a little tlc. They were very clean and comfy, but the radiator in our room was coming away from the wall, and the shower lacked oomph!
Review 51:It was modern, clean, and well laid out.amazing location.
Review 52:Being a light sleeper our room was a little noisy due inconsiderate tourists next door! Not an issue related to the hotel we were just unfortunate.. No negativity. We hope to return soon
Review 53:Modern bar & dining facilities, breakfast was superb
Review 54:Breakfast was poor compared to most places we have stayed in. There was also a bad smell in the room which turned out to be a blocked drain.
Review 55:The room was spacious and comfortable with a pleasant view.
Review 56:The room and bathroom were very dated and basic. Not at all in keeping with the public areas of the hotel.
Review 57:Great location for exploring the loch - just across the road from boat tours and great walks. The restaurant and bar were lively and pleasant and well decorated.
Review 58:The room is small, the staff was not welcoming. I had to wait a long time before being served. Other people arrived and received attention straight away.
Review 59:The breakfast is one of the best I have ever had. The location is just perfect.
Review 60:The rooms were a good size and very clean but after seeing the transformation downstairs I expected them to be a little bit more stylish.
Review 61:Perfect location, fabulous decor in bar/restaurant. Food was amazing and always piping hot.
Review 62:Staff was very helpful and friendly. Kara ( I think I have it right) was our waitress several times ( very attentive) and helped with transport needs. There was a young man (name escapes me) that had just started and went out of his way to be friendly! They all really made us feel very comfortable.
Review 63:Nothing negative to say.
Review 64:Lovely inn, clearly very popular with others for the bar and restaurant too. Really good breakfast, big portions! Clean and comfy room, served as a great base to explore the area and directly opposite a Tourist Information Centre. Free parking is helpful.
Review 65:Bed was really uncomfortable as if all springs had gone and squeaked with every movement. Room was rough around the edges. Restaurant had run out of my choice of dessert in the evening and no maple syrup for French toast in the morning. Also breakfast was advertised until 10 but the waitress had cleared away the juice by 9.20! No spoons for cereal- we had to find our own and no milk served with the tea. Was okay but could have done with more organisation. My dinner of Spanish chicken was described as roast potatoes but came with boiled potatoes.
Review 66:Location good.
Review 67:Double room booked, two beds put together. Join in beds uncomfortable if moved onto through night.
Review 68:Room large, enormous bathroom. Good clean facilities. Lots of space and nice decor. Would return.
Review 69:The room needed updating and also the air handlers for the air con need to be switched off at 2200 so you can sleep.
Review 70:The bar area and restaurant were great really modern with nice touches.
Review 71:Free wifi and this would have been a 10 for me. Decor could do with updating but this did not affect my score.
Review 72:The staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was good also.
Review 73:Nothing to mention
Review 74:Spacious room, staff very attentive and convenient for trips on Loch Lomond. Excellent food in restaurant. Great Scottish breakfast. Would definitely stay again.
Review 75:The lack of WiFi and room. Coridor noise very disruptive especially from young children.
Review 76:The location, food and staff were all excellent and we were made to feel really welcome
Review 77:The rooms are sold on the pictures of a lovely downstairs portfolio. You pay before you even see your room. The room is overpriced and basic and needs updating. The air conditioning is outside the rooms on the roof. So sleeping was difficult and poor soundproofing (none) especially if you get the room next to the laundry room . Can hear staff in there very early..
Review 78:Downstairs looks lovely
Review 79:Our evening meal was very disappointing. Having stayed several times this was by far the worst meal I had.The only meal that I have been let down by. The ciabatta roll was straight from the fridge and looked as though the bread was stale. I think the breakfast has reduced in size also.
Review 80:Staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Review 81:A proper reception desk wld be nice instead of checking in at the bar
Review 82:Rooms were very nice and comfortable with everything u need. Including ironing board and iron. Bathroom was very clean with added touches . ! Loved the tunnoch tea cakes .
Review 83:Breakfast could be tiny bit more inviting, specially in terms of presentation. Scrambled eggs and salmon sounds nice not as much as when the plate arrives. I like it but I believe you might think of it.
Review 84:Easy to make our plan visiting the loch lomond. Music show on Friday night was fun and engaging. The room were spacious and clean.
Review 85:Beds were uncomfortable and wifi only worked in bar. Room was very noisy from station/deliveries/refuse lorry etc which started early morning.
Review 86:Liked proximity to Loch Lomond and the two room layout for the family.
Review 87:Great accommodation. Good sized room with all modern facilities. Well priced. Nice surprise with a good discount on the restuarant menu for hotel guests.
Review 88:Would have liked a comfortable chair in the room. Would welcome a clearer explanation of the breakfast menu - what were 'givens' and what were choices. Felt young staff needed more support.
Review 89:Location perfect for a person without a car -next to the (quiet) railway station, opposite the tourist info centre, a few steps further to the cruise boats for Loch Lomond. Loved the design, especially the Glass-house restaurant area Courteous and friendly young staff. Good food. Good facilities in room.
Review 90:The greeting when we arrived was dour. The girl who showed us to the room was a disgrace and should not be in a public facing job. Waited over 15 minutes at the bar for a drink. The beer was undrinkable at £4.05pint. Most tables were full of beer glasses and food not cleared. The evening meal and breakfast was very average to poor. The stand out dislike was the majority of the staff were miserable and unhelpful. I hardly saw a smile or heard a kind word from any of them. Stayed at their sister Hotel The Village Inn the night after and that was an all round fantastic experience. Great potential let down by staff creating a down beat atmosphere.
Review 91:Great location and the hotel is beautifully laid out
Review 92:Bed not great. Breakfast super-sized. Soup at dinner was probably out of a packet; not made by chef..
Review 93:Service was excellent. Casual garden at rear was friendly. Sun room was very nice. Car parking on-site.
Review 94:Ok... managed to cook my ribeye steak perfectly and then my wife's chicken was cold! Following this both desserts were luke warm and the custard was the same.... Lovely food ruined by schoolboy errors.
Review 95:The staff were great.....
Review 96:The place is very confortable, the rooms and amenities are great, the food at the restaurant (and breakfast) are very good. The location is perfect if you have a car and want to go around the beautiful Scottish landscapes.
Review 97:Nothing. Perhaps, as a wish, the place would have been great with some views to the lake.
Review 98:Great location, near Loch Lomond and quite central for exploring the Trossachs. Clean, and with a good restaurant. Friendly staff.
Review 99:Stayed there last night in a room with the most awful, hard, lumpy mattress on a small double bed which caused the worst nights sleep I have ever had at a hotel, ever! Also, furnishings were worn and dirty, hairs in the bathroom, mold on the bed throw and curtains which let in every bit of sunshine. Temperature in shower alternated every few minutes. Breakfast was average and actually a bit stingy. We paid £100 for 1 night and it felt like a total rip off, never again. Wish I had read the previous reviews more carefully before booking.
Review 100:The location is good, in the centre of Balloch, near the train station.
Review 101:I found it really difficult to sleep due to a loud banging noise throughout the night. Not sure if it was the pipes or when someone flushed the toilet in another room. This happened every 10 mins throughout the night.
Review 102:Excellent location. The room was very nice and the breakfast was great.
Review 103:The cooked breakfast was poor it was covered in grease. There was little choice of cereal, juices not replenished and waitress made little effort to help.
Review 104:Location
Review 105:There was manual work being carried out before 8am in the morning which woke us and my toddler up, the staff when we arrived ignored me for 10 mins, the staff at breakfast were very slow and the same at dinner.
Review 106:The room was very clean and the inn is close to the train station and only a few mins walk from loch lomond shores and balloch castle.
Review 107:Very welcoming the staff were lovely it was right across the road from Loch Lomond and seemed to be a popular place for non residents to frequent food served all day inside and out.
Review 108:everything was excellent apart from the fact that the room we were allocated was just above the delivery point for the hotel. So loud noises from the early morning deliveries and waste removal wagons gave us a very rude awakening.
Review 109:Not a great choice of good food on menu and it takes a bit long for the service in restaurant.
Review 110:Setting was lovely Hotel was lovely And outside is lovely in the gardens.
Review 111:Room was clean, good size and comfortable. Location was perfect for visiting loch lomond area. We also enjoyed a lovely meal at the restaurant in the Inn, would highly recommend to anyone visiting. All staff were helpful and friendly
Review 112:The wifi connectivity in our room was non existent but it depends how important this is to you. Also the TV reception was poor. However the hotel were working on this. Breakfast service was a little slow but was worth the wait.
Review 113:The Tullie was in a great location in the middle of Balloch. On site parking and our room including bathroom was a very good size, all clean and as you would expect.
Review 114:Room a bit noisy it was next to railway and restaurant staff didn't seem to no what they were doing.
Review 115:Hotel was near Loch lomond central location ,restaurant nicely set out and good pub food.
Review 116:Loud music in public areas. Could not hear each other speak when eating in the dining room.
Review 117:Room nice although water flow for bath/shower was very poor. Junior staff very efficient and friendly. Good breakfast, veggie option was appreciated.
Review 118:Never quite located the 'proper' wifi but made do with the free Scotrail wifi from the station opposite! Prices reflect the 'trendy updo'
Review 119:Well located near shoreline walks around Loch Lomond. Recently renovated and very smart.
Review 120:Room very small, shower room tiny, could hardly move. Very basic. Bed very hard. At £95 for the room it was expensive.
Review 121:Convenient location, pub area nice, sunny conservatory to eat in. Breakfast was good, however, I asked what was included in the 'full Scottish' the waitress was offhand and just said 'everything'. This didn't answer my question. I chose the full Scottish and it turned out to be too much. She could have been more helpful. There was a lot on the plate which I didn't want and couldn't eat.
Review 122:Room was a little dusty (but otherwise clean) breakfast was a bit dis organised which was only an issue for us as we were short of time.
Review 123:Room was spacious, staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Review 124:The way up to the room isn't very comfortable when you have luggage. No view from the room and the internet wasn't very good.
Review 125:Large room with giant bathroom, including a bath. Very good location, across the street from the information center, the ferry and restaurants
Review 126:rooms were old and run down, no style whatsover, staff was totally indifferent, no service mentality, bad value for money
Review 127:good breakfast, the pub area is nicely redone
Review 128:The mattress was just a bit uncomfortable. The wifi wasn't always great, but that seemed to be an issue virtually everywhere in Scotland.
Review 129:How comfortable and pleasing the restaurant areas are. The extremely large bath in our room. The cleanliness. The staff (everyone we had contact with) were wonderful.
Review 130:Live music night. As soon as I saw the ad I asked where my room was as i did not wish to be kept awake. I was moved to a room that they said would be much quieter. It was a nightmare with loud band and drums until 1:00. Also doors slammed all night and noise through walls. Got no sleep. I went to the manager about the situation but the hotel was full so they gave me 30 pounds but that didn't help with the sleep.
Review 131:Location and facilities.
Review 132:Room was quite small, would have been unhappy to pay full price. Wi-Fi hopeless
Review 133:Staff were really helpful. Food was nice. Lovely decor in bar/restaurant area.
Review 134:(I don't normally give reviews but in this case I will make an exception.) Everything except only free wifi in pubic area (Bar ect) but could get 4G so not so much of an issue for me, wifi in rooms would only enhance experienced. Look forward to stopping there again when next working in or visiting the area in the near future. Booking.com advertise as full English breakfast, not the case, better still full Scottish breakfast !!! Many Thanks. :-)
Review 135:Not a complaint, but I do wish that the restaurant serves more fresh food. More salads and veggies and fresh fruit. As a vegetarian, it was hard to find appetizing food to eat from the menu. What we did have was good, there just weren't very many fresh food options.
Review 136:Natalie and her staff were so kind to us during our stay. They were helpful and eager to serve. We appreciate the Tullie Inn having room for us and our three young children to all stay in the same room together.
Review 137:Forgetting the Tunnocks tea cakes that were in my room!
Review 138:Lovely place, spacious bedroom, food excellent, delicious breakfast with good coffee, very attractive dining area, staff friendly and helpful.
