Reviews for Le Manoir Saint Thomas

Review 1:Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Location is superb for getting to chateau, as well as shops. A few great restaurants close by.

Review 2:Only a very minor suggestion: The "soft goods" (bedspread, upholstery) in our room were a little worn and probably ready for replacement.

Review 3:Gracious and beautiful building; lovely breakfast service; warm and accommodating staff; great location.

Review 4:First, the hotel is in a beautiful old building very close to the chateau. Second, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The arranged a personal driver for me to see several chateaus. Rhodes, the room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet is excellent.

Review 5:The first room we were given had a toilet on the other side of the room from the bathroom, one of my pet hates. But we were offered a choice of 2 other rooms instead. The alternative we chose was great except for having shutters on the windows that only staff could open and close and this meant we had to get ready on both mornings with the lights on.

Review 6:Great location, huge room, lots of parking. Breakfast expensive but you did get a lot of choices and it was all good quality.

Review 7:Nothing at all.

Review 8:Our room was very comfortable with a separate space for our young son to sleep. It was very central to everything in Amboise, including all the restaurants, chateau and the Da Vinci park. It also had a lovely pool.

Review 9:Nothing that we didn't like.

Review 10:Incredible location, stunning 12th century building and remarkable staff. A real gem and a great overnight stay with the kids. Different experience from the other big hotels in town and very nice vibe as not many rooms and feeling very private.

Review 11:Room nr. 3 has strong sounds from the waterworks, 24 h, causing very poor sleeping. We payed almost 200 euro/night for this room. In our opinion this room should not be rented out in this state. Hotel should work on this. Gladly the friendly lady could arrange a change of rooms

Review 12:Charming hotel with nice garden and pool, and in good location. Friendly lady in charge

Review 13:They asked for any request on booking so I said it was our honeymoon. We got married the day before our stay. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't do anything special or took notice of it. Most hotels do a little something special. We just had the normal welcome notes as any other client. It's my only criticism. I would have liked to feel special on our first honeymoon night.

Review 14:Perfect location Staff really helpful, booked restaurant and made great suggestions if restaurants.

Review 15:Not applicable

Review 16:The staff were fantastic, very helpful and went the extra mile when we had particular queries or when they could see they could help. Great initiative.

Review 17:Continental breakfast is 19 Euro each! Buy pastry, yogurt and juice at stores and eat in room - 10 Euro for two for 2 days.

Review 18:Hotel is in a historic house. Large room and large bathroom. Easy walking distance to castle and many restaurants - avoiding parking which is limited in city.

Review 19:nothing

Review 20:this hotel is in a meticulously restored manor house in Amboise. It was exceptionally clean, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was good, although not included in our rate. We stayed in one of their suites on the third floor, which was comfortable and spotless. The charm of the old house has been preserved while up to date facilities have been introduced. Close to the chateau and several good restaurants.

Review 21:We stayed 3 wonderful nights. Could not fault it. Wonderful accommodation and very helpful staff. The breakfast was exceptional value and a great way to start each day.

Review 22:Location was walking distance to everything including Clos Lucé and Amboise castle. Very clean, luxurious bath, especially for European standards, friendly and attentive staff, comfortable beds, quiet, parking on property, nice pool and beautiful dining room for breakfast.

Review 23:Good location in the heart of Amboise, beautiful gardens, lovely manor house, good decor (both public & private), interesting shower(!), nice pool, close to restaurants - and very helpful staff.

Review 24:It's a gorgeous manor! the rooms are lovely and beautifully decorated and very well appointed! The staff is warm, helpful, and very welcoming! Breakfast was beautiful and DELICIOUS! Beautifully displayed and prepared with MANY, MANY options

Review 25:The location was a bit tricky to find. We ended up driving through several parking lots before we realized that the entrance to the hotel was only accessed via a one-way street. Once we figured that out, there wasn't a problem.

Review 26:The helpful staff and manager were resourceful and kind. The property was excellently kept and very clean.

Review 27:The location, accommodation and staff were beyond what we expected. Themanager upgraded us to a suite because we found our reserved room on the2nd floor ( 3rd floor in America) was a little diffult to access. Wecould not complain about anything and we are experienced anddiscriminating travellers The location of Amboise is excellent fortouring the Chateaux of the Loire Valley.

Review 28:We loved the location, so close to the Castle, the restaurants and the shops. The hotel has character, we had a beautiful room with period decor, the staff is very helpful. Would certainly recommend it.

Review 29:It was just like any 3 star bed and breakfast. Very very limited breakfast when I asked for eggs I was told there was no kitchen ( this is meant to be a 4 star hotel). Moreover the charge for breakfast was 16 euros per head. There was no kettle in the room. The rooms were very small.

Review 30:Very helpful manager.

Review 31:Breakfast was good, quality ingredients, but for the price, also expect hot breakfast

Review 32:Good location very close to town and attractions. Welcoming and helpful staff. Beautiful hotel, nicely decorated. Clean and quiet room.

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Frederic who was a fantastic host. Great rooms, very clean. We sat by the fire with a glass of wine to unwind. The continental breakfast was also very good, but possible on the pricey side. We wished we could have stayed longer!

Review 35:Excellent location, terrific facilities and the reception was really wonderful. We were particularly happy with their arranging for a balloon ride on very short notice making our stay in Amboise truly memorable.

Review 36:The staff was delightful! It was our anniversary so the bed had fresh rose petals on the bed with towels wrapped up as swans. Quite adorable! Great bathroom, large room with deck to sit outside. Highly recommend. Did not eat dinner at hotel. Only 15 minutes from Sarlat.

Review 37:Le Manior Saint Thomas is a beautifully restored manor house that offers a serene respite. It is located in walking distance to the river, the chateaux and shops. A great breakfast is offered in the impressive dining area. Free Wi-Fi and parking are a plus. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 38:In our room you could hear the rain and the air conditioning very loudly (in the room from the entrance of the suite only).

Review 39:The manoir is very well located, the rooms and the garden are well taken care of, clean, the staff is friendly and nice.

Review 40:A perfect little hotel with a traditional feel. The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. We used the pool, which was heated and well maintained. The hotel is close to all major attractions in the area. Our stay in Amboise was absolutely perfect.

Review 41:No hot water in our bedroom, offered and accepted free breakfast as an apology. Cost of breakfast is very expensive.

Review 42:Ambience,location,gardens,comfortable bed, personal touch of the owner...a delightful lady who really knows how to look after guests and maintain high standards

Review 43:Absolutely nothing.

Review 44:Having been in Paris for 5 hot, muggy days; walking for miles to visit all the "must see" attractions, Le Manoir Saint Thomas was such a welcome respite. We were greeted warmly by Isabelle, helped with our heavy luggage up 2 flights of steep stairs, to be shown our beautiful, expansive rooms: high ceilings, large leaded glass windows opening on the square below, antique furnishings, and impeccably clean. We thoroughly relaxed and enjoyed the peaceful gardens with a glass of wine, before walking a short distance to a most hospitable restaurant with creatively prepared dishes - best meal we'd had in France so far! Amboise was a beautiful village with shops, cafes, the castle, & narrow streets. After wandering around in the hot sun, we felt blissful lounging in the cool pool on Le Manoir's grounds. The breakfast offered in the elegant dining room ea morning was fresh and delicious. We will have nothing but wonderful memories of our stay in this charming hotel.

Review 45:No coffee maker or kettle in the room, which, for a 4-star hotel, should be a standard amenity.

Review 46:This is a very charming hotel in a quiet neighborhood just a few minutes walk to the central part of Amboise. The grounds are attractively landscaped, and the interior is beautifully maintained. A nice plus is space for parking for guests.....and complimentary! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We were greeted in our room by a charming, hand-written note of welcome, along with a nice sampling of locally produced fruit liqueur, which was a nice touch The only negative comment is that there was not a coffee maker or kettle in the room, which, for a 4-star hotel, should be offered. My wife likes tea in the evening, so the very pleasant lady at the desk brought a kettle to our room so that we could make tea. If visiting the Loire Valley, Amboise is a nice, quiet town and centrally located to the chateaux; and, Le Manoir Saint Thomas is a wonderful choice of hotels there.

Review 47:Shower temperature not reliable. Breakfast price is bit expensive, local café provided breakfast.

Review 48:Very friendly, English speaking staff. Loads of local information. Lovely room, nice old fashioned shutters. Lovely gardens and easy parking. Great Wi-Fi. Short walking distance from centre of Amboise. and a Leclerc supermarket about 1 mile away.

Review 64:Great location within walking distance of all the major sights in Amboise. Very friendly and helpful staff. Off street parking is handy as well.

Review 96:Car park not easy to access, ask for directions!

Review 97:Great location, car parking, helpful staff and lovely grounds, including a swimming pool.

Review 98:No tea/coffe making facilities in room

Review 99:Room size Comfort Location Staff

Review 100:the hotel was absolutely beautiful and the staff were very helpful

Review 101:Not what you expect from a 4 star hotel, there is no service (everybody is gone after 9pm), and everything is on the cheap side, from the toilet paper to the non existent stationary.

Review 102:Location was good

Review 103:The staff was very helpful and courteous. They booked good restaurants for us each evening. Ask for the Francois 1er room if you want a separate shower stall. There is also a claw foot tub in the bathroom. Parking inside the hotel gates was great to have.

Review 104:Everything was fabulous! My expectations were exceeded the moment I stepped through the door. The room was beautiful, the bed very comfortable. Location was great and the grounds lovely. I would definetly stay there again.

Review 105:The staffs were very nice and helpful. Love the daily leaflet information that is placed in the room each night informing about area attractions and weather for the next day. Location is great and not too far from other main attractions within Loire area. Hotel car park and public car park right opposite the hotel is very convenient for travelers with cars.

Review 106:Even though we turned the room heating off it was really hot and dry, and I awoke with a sore throat. I could have opened more windows, but it was really well heated!

Review 107:Beautiful room and surroundings. Great staff. The great value as we got 50% off due to the completly unobtrusive rennovation to the exterior.

Review 108:We felt breakfast at 17 euros was not particularly good value, plus the breakfast room was chilly. We were not offered more tea or coffee on either of the two days we had breakfast. No drawer space or comfortable seating in room, and some bits of maintenance needed.

Review 109:Pleasant impression and ambience. Very comfortable bed, spacious room.

Review 110:Squeaky stairs, although I never heard anyone on them after about 11.00 pm.

Review 111:Comfy bed, extra friendly staff with good English, good breakfasts. Good restaurant referrals from staff. Lovely room and bathroom, as well as public rooms.

Review 112:When we arrived at Le Manoir it was like manna from heaven. We had been driving for hours and spent some scary time on the small roads in France. When we arrived at the gates of St. Thomas we were pleasingly surprised. It was so beautiful and Frederick was there to help us with impeccable english and a warm and friendly attitude. The breakfast were much more generous than most of the hotels we stayed in. This is a must if you find yourself in Amboise.

Review 113:Cracked toilet seat and when I complained I was not offered an alternative room. The receptionist was very apologetic and said I should speak to the owner in the morning. The owner not particularly bothered and assured me it was hygienic despite my concern - I cannot see how it could possibly be hygienic as it was in the centre of the front of the seat. No kettle - I was told that it was not customary in France, we have stayed in several hotels here and they have always had a kettle. Kettles were in all 3 hotels we stayed in on our Loire trip this time. The hotel staff knocked off at 9pm so you were unable to have a hot drink after this time Wifi was available in the lounge but not in our room which was on the same floor and not very far - I would have expected it to be available in all the rooms as this was a luxury hotel. Swimming pool was not quite as glamorous as pictured in the advert and it didn't look too clean

Review 114:Beautiful building Nice room and lovely bathroom Welcome local liqueur 2 minutes walk from the château and from several restaurants. Very pretty town
