Reviews for Hotel Résidence La Fontaine Aux Bretons

Review 1:A beautiful location from which to visit the area around Pornic. Coast path ten minutes walk through amazing gardens and vineyard. Not much English spoken by staff but this made the visit more fun!

Review 2:Head waitress rude - had to order all three courses at beginning and she said no now dessert with a stern face!

Review 3:Comfortable and nice pool lovely welcome from receptionist - really helpful- lovely setting - iOS wonderful and great little waiter - waiters worked hard except one

Review 4:The onsite restaurant could have had a more varied menu; steak, chicken, etc.

Review 5:Beach-side location, very helpful staff, great pool. Farm / vineyard setting was nice and views were excellent.

Review 6:The shower over the bath in the Framboise Mezzanine one-bed Studio (seaview). Shower itself was powerful but low beam made things a littledifficult, and water leaked extensively onto the bathroom floor. Balconydeperately needs painting and new chairs (they all do). Restaurant foodis good, but very expensive, so too the breakfast at 14.50 euros -ridiculously high, and unacceptable. The Hotel is located away from themain centre/harbour at Pornic, a one hour walk approx. I was told bystaff, not ideal if you want to eat out without having to drive. I wouldnot stay here again as a solo traveller, but would consider it againwith other hotels (particularly those nearer the centre) should I cometo Pornic again and bring my partner.

Review 7:The setting of the hotel, lovely grounds, gardens, and unusual metalsculptures. A six minute walk to the beach (small). Comfortable bed.Large barn to put my motrobike in, not totally secure but goodenough, and quite acceptable. WiFi was average, better than a lot ofhotels in France.

Review 8:We loved this place from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Best of both worlds, beautiful gardens, superb food and reasonably priced but sea views too. A great walk to Pornic too.

Review 9:Room a little tired, balcony needed decorating, bathroom shower hopeless! Quite expensive for this standard of accommodation. The vegetable garden setting was spoiled as it badly needed tending, it was looking rather neglected to say the least.

Review 10:A very attractive setting, lovely restaurant area and we enjoyed an excellent dinner and breakfast.

Review 11:Parking was a little difficult when we arrived.

Review 12:Beautiful gardens and interesting sculptures. Access to beach which was a little small but ok. Great for families due to farm and swimming pool.

Review 13:Beautiful, peaceful location, loved the garden and surrounding farm, and eating the wonderful produce in the restaurant

Review 14:Easygoing ambience; awareness of the environment.

Review 15:Beautiful hotel in a beautiful spot

Review 16:Rooms are dated and in need of update ,

Review 17:restaurant food excellent but expensive if on a budget , grounds and gardens well presented

Review 18:Location was excellent, staff were helpful and friendly and the food was delicious.

Review 19:Nothing

Review 20:Location, restaurant and ambience. Classy without being stuffy.

Review 21:Only downside is that it's a bit outside Pornic

Review 22:Almost everything

Review 23:We had a meal in the restaurant and although very nice the portions were tiny for the price we paid, we were shocked when we checked out to see what we had paid and our morning tea was like hot water no matter how many tea bags we added to the pot ! A lift would be a good idea, we managed ok but I don't know how elderly, frail folk would manage with their luggage, non of this would put us off returning as overall it was a lovely place.

Review 24:Superb location but hard to find with sat nav, beautiful room with balcony overlooking sea and countryside, mini bar fridge to keep things cool, staff spoke very good English and assisted us with our limited knowledge of French.

Review 25:No staff after 7pm so we couldn't get help when our wifi failed. No tea/coffee/milk - due to this being an eco establishment?

Review 26:We liked the location and the surrounds - a short, brisk walk to the ocean. We had a kitchenette with plenty of cooking utensils. The gardens and the animals were very interesting.

Review 27:Evening meal was quite ordinary considering the price. We normally eat very well in France for 32 euros! Disappointing.

Review 28:Lovely setting in pretty grounds and vineyard a short stroll from the beach. Staff were all delightful.

Review 29:The restaurant was good, but not good enough for the prices they charged. The hotel is quite a distance out of town but there is nowhere to get a drink or snack outside of mealtimes in the hotel.

Review 30:The setting was wonderful, the staff were really, really good and the pool, animals and small farmers market on the Saturday morning when we stayed made it a real hit with my 8 year old. Our room was great and would have been perfect for a long stay as it had a kitchenette and dining area, 2 balconies and a separate sleeping area for my son.

Review 31:The room with the kitchenette was lovely but the bed was up in the loft. For me, it was difficult to navigate the narrow stairs at night and it also stayed a bit hot.

Review 32:The staff at the Auberge are extremely helpful and went out of their way to arrange a taxi for me late at night. The inn with roses growing all over and farm animals in pastures out back and the ocean in the distance was very relaxing and beautiful (note: it was a bit far to walk to town). Bikes, walking paths, spectacular gardens. Eco-friendly with delicious, organic foods mostly produced on site.

Review 33:We only stayed one night so didn't really get to see much of Pornic.. The hotel is beautiful. Wonderful well kept gardens out the front. We had a 1st floor room with small balcony overlooking these gardens and also with a view of the sea. Only a short stroll down to the sandy beach below the cliffs. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and had a super meal. We also took breakfast and there was a great selection of bread/cakes and other .goodies.

Review 34:The plastic mattress protector. This had to be removed, otherwise it is like sleeping in a plastic bag.

Review 35:The setting was beautiful, the hotel is surrounded by its own garden, veg patch and vineyard. The hotel emailed us a couple of days before our stay to welcome us and to give a map and directions.

Review 36:Nothing.

Review 37:We enjoyed the whole feel of this Auberg. The staff went the extra mileto make sure we had everything we wanted and the food and service wereexceptional. We will return and would recommend this hotel to ourfriends and family.

Review 38:Breakfast was expensive. No breakfast menu

Review 39:Location. Gardens and surrounds

Review 40:Superb building in beautiful gardens. The dinner was excellent and well worth the extra treat.
