Reviews for Le Petit Giverny

Review 1:not a thing - they made our stay delightfully memorable and we wish them all the best.

Review 2:Jean-Jaques & his wife are the kindest, most generous of hosts - who go out of their way to make you comfortable & happy. We loved them and wouldn't stay anywhere else if we were in the area! Kurt

Review 3:We were greeted with Jean Jacques' most warm hospitality and fun sense of humor. We were welcomed with a complimentary drink, assisted with our luggage, all our needs were carefully looked after, and my special dietary needs were met. The home is beautiful with its outdoor garden, artwork everywhere, and I loved the beautiful artisan sheets! It was my favorite place to stay in the 5 weeks I spent in Europe.

Review 4:Nothing to dislike

Review 5:Lovely little bistro with rooms, a stones throw from Monet's house. Jean Jacques is a genial host and serves a lovely perfected grill. Clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. A really enjoyable stay

Review 6:The smaller beds (where I slept) were not very good. Dislike "plastic" sheets and removed it. Husband got better bed and didn't mind bed or sheet. (He can sleep anywhere!). There was a lot of outdoor smoking near the open door into dining area. Lots of flies, too. Not sure why.

Review 7:Location to Giverny garden was excellent. Nice bathroom, shower, linens and space of room and bath were good.

Review 8:Only thing we didn't like was having to leave.

Review 9:It was a charming B&B with a genuine French feel. It was perfectly located for visiting Monet's Garden and it had a beautiful garden of its own. Also it was just across the road from the shuttle bus to take one to and from the station at Vernon. jean- Jacques and his wife were very welcoming and friendly. Our bedroom was on the ground floor and was well laid out with a good sized bathroom. Breakfast included plenty of options - bread, croissants, cheese, ham, fruit etc.

Review 10:Just about everything---the rooms, hospitality, friendliness of the staff and the close proximity to Monet's home and gardens. We arrived late (got lost) and they kept the restaurant open to feed us. There are just 3 rooms in the hotel and they plan on adding 2 or 3 more rooms in a building behind the main lodging; all very quaint and clean. The gardens out front of the property are beautiful. People walking by would stop and take pictures!

Review 11:Jacques is a Gracious host, perfect breakfasts, recommended terrific local restaurant and even delivered a umbrella to the restaurant when it began to rain

Review 12:Location, walking distance to Monet gardens. Great food and hospitality, host made us feel like one of the family and loved Aussies Gave him and Aussie tee shirt which he wore the rest of the day

Review 13:Nothing at all to dislike.

Review 14:Beautiful room. Clean and spacious. Warm welcome and very accommodating host's. Excellent breakfast. Definitely a 10 out of 10 venue

Review 15:Great little B&B 159metres from Monet's House and Garden. John is s great host and provides a homely and comfortable room plus good food at very reasonable prices.

Review 16:Le Petit Giverny is a small, warm, family-run inn, with good food personally prepared, and lots of personal attention. The room was lovely. The garden was gorgeous.

Review 17:Jean Jacques and wife make you feel at home from the minute you arrive. He requests you to give him feedback, if anything is not perfect! To quote him, "never say it's good", say "it could be better", but I don't know how it could have been... The three rooms are beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and very quiet. The large garden in front of the the house was still in bloom, as well as the Monet Gardens (early Oct.) The restaurant uses a hard wood stove for cooking, and BBQ the kabobs were delicious and perfectly prepared. Le Petit is perfectly located for those using public transit, just across the street from the Naviette bus stop(from the Vernon train station) for the Gardens . On site parking if your are driving. Staying in Giverny is wonderful. After the "tour groups" depart, the area regains the ambiance that lured Monet here. Giverny has no ATMs so stop at one in Vernon if you need cash... credit cards accepted.

Review 18:The proprietor and his wife were truly delightful and went out of their way to make our stay a wonderful experience. We loved our conversations with them and compliment him on his appealing selection of music. Great food - we'd love to go back

Review 19:My husband and I stayed here for eight nights and loved every minute of it. The Petit Giverny is set in a beautiful garden with a very central location. Everything is within walking distance. It is a very relaxing place and has a wonderful casual atmosphere. The owners and staff couldn't have been nicer and treated us like family. Our room was very clean and made up every day. We ate all our breakfasts there and every day they served fresh pastries and other wonderful French items. The restaurant also has excellent food. We would highly recommend the Petite Giverny for a quiet getaway from the bustle of Paris. We have fond memories of our stay there and hope to return one day.

Review 20:We could not find anything to complain about during our stay.

Review 21:The room and it's amenities were excellent. At the same time, the owner and the staff were absolutely wonderful.

Review 22:The hotel and restaurant are very typically French and has a wonderful friendly ambience. The owner and his wife and the waitress all extremely helpful. Bistro type food and drinks.

Review 23:Beautiful little inn, nice restaurant, great food, excellent location. We were greeted with wine and made to feel so welcome. Our room overlooked a pretty garden and had beautiful bed and bath linens. On our departure we were given postcards to write to anyone anywhere in the world and the host would mail them for us at not cost. Nice touch.

Review 24:Nothing.

Review 25:Within walking distance to Monet's Garden and owners let us remain parked on their property after checking out. The Family Room was spacious and airy with outdoor temps around 60 degrees F. Bathroom was very well equipped, bed was comfy, quiet and restful. Front garden was attractive and continental breakfast met our expectations. Nice people and eager to please. Family run restaurant on ground floor seemed very popular; food smelled great. Real orchids blooming in our room!

Review 26:Le Petit Giverny is steps from Monet's Gardens - the destination of our visit. The owner/manager was welcoming, engaging, and kept the dining room open to accommodate our plans. The B & B itself is newly built (1990's) but decorated beautifully to evoke an earlier time. It's gardens were alive with color and the meals wonderful.

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:Everything. The place was a quaint B and B with beautiful gardens with a 2 minute walk to Monet's Garden. The owners Jean-Jac and Jacki were fantastic. The food was terrific especially the Toulouse sausage that was fantastic.

Review 29:We loved the staff. They were very welcoming especially Jean. As well the breakfasts were unbelievably good. Excellent bread yogurt ham and cheese plus the best coffee au lait ever and you could have as much as you wanted. As well the Petite Giverny was easy to find with its beautiful gardens and very close to Monet's garden most important of all the bed was very comfortable and the room was beautifully decorated

Review 30:The flies both in our room and the restaurant. Food should be covered and fly spray in the rooms might be helpful. Our room wasn't made up for our second and last night so we had an unmade bed and damp towels.

Review 31:The location for seeing Monet's House and garden is superb. You can leave your car in the hotel car park and walk everywhere in Giverny. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Guests get a free drink on arrival and our room was small but comfy and clean, apart from the flies, and with everything you need.

Review 32:Right in the center of Giverny within walking distance to the gardens. Jean-Jacques is a character & makes you feel comfortable. The whole staff is warm & friendly.

Review 33:The kindness, humor, and helpful hospitality of Jean-Jacques and his staff throughout our stay. The baguettes were the most delicous I've enjoyed in France.

Review 34:Lovely, friendly people - nothing was too much trouble. Very good dinner - nothing complex but nicely prepared. Ideally situated close to the Monet House and Gardens.

Review 35:Overall relaxed, intimate charm of the place; friendly and helpful staff; terrace dining overlooking the pretty garden; 5 minute walk from Monet's garden;

Review 36:There was nothing not to like

Review 37:The friendliness of the Patron. Our reception. The historic location. We even slept in an antigue Parisian four poster bed. This charming Chambre a Louver sits right next to Monet's Garden car park. We didn't go for the garden - we've been twice - but if we go again, we would not want to stay anywhere else

Review 38:Lovely location, and Jean-Jacgues was most charming and helpful. Dinner was delightful, with the potatoes that were slow roasted in the coals of the fire.

Review 39:A curtain could be added to the bathroom window. We covered it with a towel.

Review 40:Perfect location to visit Monet's Garden as it is about 500m away. Very friendly staff and owners. Very helpful. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner. A character property.

Review 41:We were able to fit in a very short trip to Giverny and left most of our luggage at the hotel in Paris. Le Petit Giverny is a pearl. It's near the river and very close to the main parts of the village, including the Giverny gardens. Our host made us feel extremely welcome - such an important aspect of hospitality and explained everything about the room and the bathroom. The house contains many antiques and artifacts of interest. The furnishes are period pieces which suit the rooms perfectly, and the bathrooms have been completed renovated with outstanding appliances. We understand that our hostess specializes in antiques. Our meals were excellent and we enjoyed both the ambiance of the inside space for our evening meal, and the outside covered space for lunch. It was a fabulous way to conclude our holidays. Thank you!

Review 42:Nothing really.

Review 43:It was wonderful to arrive at this little gem after a very wet motorbike trip from Boulogne. The welcome was warm and we were helped to dry our wet clothes and offered a complimentary coffee. Despite the age of the place the room was lovely - a 4-poster bed and nice clean modern bathroom with separate shower cubicle. There was also some beautiful original art on the walls which of course echoed our reason for being here - Monet's garden. It is right next door to the guest house - the position couldn't have been better. In the evening we chose to eat in the restaurant and had a delicious meal of chicken brochettes cooked over a wood fire. You can eat inside or out in the garden if the weather is fine. We had an equally good breakfast the following morning. We loved Le Petit Giverny and of course Monet's garden was very special too.

Review 44:This hotel is absolutely charming and has a most gracious host. It is beautifully furnished and absolutely full of character. I had my best nights sleep out of the sixteen hotels I visited on my trip, wonderful bed. Beautifully clean room, tastefully decorated. It's location is perfect for visiting Monet's garden, just a two minute walk. I would like to thank our host for the best welcome I have ever had at any hotel, ever. It was like being greeted by a reletive or family friend not a hotel proprietor. It was a pleasure to sit in the hotel's small intimate restaurant/kitchen, enjoying a glass of wine while our host personally cooked our meals over a wood burning fire. Classic! If you are visiting Monet's garden, or even Paris, stay here. A great hotel in a great location with an excellent host and staff.

Review 45:Excellent location, genial host, restaurant in house although limited menu. Nothing was too much trouble for our host or his staff. Reasonable restaurant prices. Although surrounded by tourists it was always quiet.

Review 46:The owner Jean-Jacques could not have been more helpful and welcoming and spent all his time ensuring that our stay was a comfortable and memorable one.

Review 47:Friendly and very welcoming staff, Le Patron was charming and very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We recommend the evening meal as well. Perfect location for visiting Monet's garden and arriving early!

Review 48:The double bed in our room was quite short for a tall person but luckily there were twin divan beds also. We like air conditioning but since we could leave the windows wide open it was fine.

Review 49:Staff were welcoming and humourous. Made us feel individually valued. Little positive touches like sending postcards for us or giving us a free drink when we arrived were very much appreciated. Shower was great. Also very close to Monet's garden.

Review 50:The public transportation getting from Vernon to Giverny is not very good,be sure to communicate with Le Petite Giverny for your options.

Review 51:It is practically next door to Monet's gardens @ the Monet Foundation. They have taken an existing house and turned it into a charming, old world small hotel with outdoor dining. It was delightful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!

Review 52:Our stay coincided with a heat wave and there are no facilities to cool the rooms in the B&B.

Review 53:The staff and owner went out of their way to assist us and make us feel welcome. The B&B is ideally located to see all the attractions in Giverny and has an old world charm.

Review 54:The owners, they are so warm and friendly and make you feel so welcome. All the extras in the rooms, the great food, and it's so quiet at night. Easy walking to Monet's garden.

Review 55:Absolutely charming. Jean-Jacque and Jackie were a delight. Treated us like friends. Its location (with regards to our visit to the Monet Gardens) couldn't have been closer. We were closer than the people who parked their cars and walked to the Gardens! Room was totally comfortable for our needs. Just a lovely stay.

Review 56:Staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough to make us fell welcome on arrival and through out our stay. Service was very good and our room was lovely. Friendly atmosphere and very welcoming. Ideal location for visiting Monet's garden. Stays open for guests long after the rest of the village shuts up in the evening.

Review 57:Beautiful spot with large window opening over the garden! Jean Jacques, the owner, was welcoming and charming. The food he and his staff served at dinner and breakfast was wonderul. Easy, relaxed, authentically French experience!

Review 58:My daughter and I enjoyed our host, his gardens and the close proximity to Monet's Garden. The room was lovely and the bathroom was large and well appointed.

Review 59:Nothing, ALL good.

Review 60:Everything!! Big room with massive en suite. Welcoming drink with the owner, booked us dinner at nearby restaurant. Breakfast ( not included,10 Euros ) freshly produced and even wrote postcards which the owner posted. Wonderful location 2 min walk from Monet`s garden. Highly recommended :-)

Review 61:Warm hospitality, very personal. Location is fabulous since the Bus from Vernon is immediately across the road and the access to all the attractions is within a block. We had the double downstairs room which was charming and very quiet at night.

Review 62:There was nothing we didn't like

Review 63:The owners were wonderful and welcoming nothing too much trouble always happy to oblige. Clean towels every day it was a prefect place to stay . We did not have breakfast as we don't usually eat breakfast

Review 64:It was lovely to receive such a warm and friendly welcome from our host and staff when we arrived at Le Petit Giverny. It was a very hot day and it was lovely to sit out in the garden restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious dinner. When we left in the morning we didn't have time for breakfast but our lovely host made us a coffee. Le Petit Giverny is a lovely stop over and we would absolutely recommend it to everyone.

Review 65:Wi-Fi was very slow. We mentioned it to the owner who is going to look into it.

Review 66:This hotel is a great location for walking to the Monet Gardens and museum in Giverney. It is very clean and comfortable. The bath towels were over-sized which I always appreciate. The staff are friendly and attentive to details. Even though it is an easy trip from Paris, I recommend staying in Giverny, as the crowds dissipate in the evening and the town becomes very cute and quiet.

Review 67:Proprietors were extremely friendly and helpful. Accommodations were a little worn but perfectly adequate and comfortable. Anyone with allergies should be aware that at least one of their rooms is right above the restaurant kitchen, where they grilled the meat over a wood-fired stove. You either would love that or hate it, but it IS atmospheric! The biggest draw, aside from the proprietors themselves, is the location, which is steps away from Monet!

Review 68:A minor complaint is I am 6' 2" so the bed was a bit short.

Review 69:The staff and particularly the wner are very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect 50 metres fom Monet's house, gardens and the museum. The breakfast is excellent

Review 70:Liked everything

Review 71:This hotel is right next door to Monet's home! M. Jean-Jacques and his wife Jackie have created a fun outdoor restaurant completely surrounded by beautiful flowers - a petit Giverny! M. Jean-Jacques greeted us with a free bottle of wine, and was a very engaging host. Dinner was excellent, and our room was spacious and accommodating. This is not a new facility, and furnishings are almost antique. But we would return in a minute!

Review 72:Comfortable bed however with head and toe boards, the bed could have been a little longer for my 6'4" frame. However I still slept very well. Free WiFi works ok but is a little slow.

Review 73:The friendly discussion with Jean Jaques (good sense of humour). The fragrance of the roses in the garden. Good quality food. Very clean room and en suite facilities. Modern and easy to use shower. Double aspect windows in our room (to the front and rear of the building). Easy free car parking.

Review 74:We did not have any bad experiences

Review 75:The owners were most welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We very much enjoyed the sense of humour displayed by the owner . The food was excellent. The staff very friendly and courteous.

Review 76:From turning out to fetch us from the station (no taxis!) to offering and posting our cards, nothing was too much trouble. A lovely, comfortable place with simple, hearty food and a rose garden to rival Monet's just up the road!

Review 77:We were given the most wonderful welcome by the very jovial owner. The room was spotless and the meal was delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend this small but perfect hotel.

Review 78:That I had to leave the next day would have loved to stay longer...

Review 79:The room was spacious comfortable and the hosts were wonderful. I only had breakfast there because I had reservations with friends at another restaurant for dinner but it was very nice.

Review 80:Nothing to dislike about this place.

Review 81:The owners and staff were fabulous Our bedroom and en-suite so comfortable and clean we would definetly recommend a stay in this fabulous location very close to Monet Gardens

Review 82:Limited choice on menu for meals (only BBQ style)

Review 83:The spectacular garden with varieties of flowers, the spacious parking, walking distance to Monet's garden, peaceful surroundings, free postcard provided

Review 84:Jean Jaques is a very charismatic host and everything one would expect to ensure a most enjoyable experience. Well located facility with a great restaurant. Chambres with French charm and modern up to date ensuite bathroom facilities. Free parking on site 100 yards from Monets garden.

Review 85:Owner, Jean-Jacques, has great sense of humour and is a warm, welcoming host. He alone makes your stay memorable. We also liked our spacious, cheerful room (we had the Yellow Room), the food from the wood-fired oven and the country-like setting of the house.

Review 86:Very warm welcome from a very convivial host. Relaxed atmosphere and very comfortable and clean accommodation - even a four poster bed! Excellent location to visit this beautiful village.

Review 87:Lovely place, very friendly people & had many laughs with the Owner who v. helpful with anything we needed and tips to get Monet tickets etc, & the area (fab hillside views above Giverny, etc). Our bedroom was a 4-poster on the ground floor.

Review 88:Just a small bed in an old style - it has limits for my 190 sm.

Review 89:The owner's way to communicate with a humor and his desire to make your stay comfortable in all aspects.

Review 90:Jean Jacques, the owner, is a charming man who greeted us with smiles, gentle teasing, wonderful old French music and a welcoming glass of wine. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and gave us good tips about visiting Monet's Gardins and even gave us free postcards which he then stamped himself to send to the U.S.

Review 91:everything: hosts went out of way to welcome us with glass of wine, maps & "inside" info on best direction to see around Giverny. Great parking, wood fire restaurant. Right next door to gardens.

Review 92:Jack was a happy and helpful host and the property had secure parking on site. The room was well appointed and comfortable. The property was easy walking distance from Monet's garden, galleries and restaurants.

Review 93:We had to eventually leave to continue our holiday.

Review 94:Fun, friendly and obliging hosts and staff. Gorgeous traditional style accom. Restaurant on site a real plus. Location absolutely perfect. Loved our stay highly recommend. Great value for money.

Review 95:NOTHING! It was all truly wonderful!

Review 96:Jacque and his wife were gracious and fun loving hosts. They gave us great tips for the area. The food prepared on their magnificent grill was really tasty. Very simple, very fresh. I loved the farmhouse pate too. But the brochettes were really what we loved. They were planting their summer garden and it was fun to watch the progress.

Review 97:I like everything at Le Petit Giverny. Jean Jacques is a great host and cook, the place is carefully decorated very much according to the Impressionist atmosphere of the town. It is great to have a shower instead of a tub in the room. Very comfortable beds and a beautiful garden make me want to go back and stay more days. Very close to Claude Monet's house makes this the perfect choice to stay al Giverny.

Review 98:Location, perfect for Monets house and garden. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable The welcome and attention of the owners added to the enjoyment of the stay

Review 99:No bad experience, we all three, my husband, brother and I loved the place.

Review 100:the location, right next to Monet's Garden, fabulous room with beautiful decor and comfortable beds. Staff were very helpful and everything done for our comfort.

Review 101:Perfect place to stay in Giverny. Our room was very comfortable and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. We had a lunch and a breakfast there, too, and both meals were very good.

Review 102:Jean Jacques looked after us like we were family, nothing was too much trouble. Dinner cooked in front of you on the open wood fire was mouth watering.

Review 103:The hotel is in a great location and is very charming. We loved the wood fired cooking and all our meals were excellent. Most of all we enjoyed the friendliness of the owner and his attention to making our stay wonderful.

Review 104:Clean and perfect bathroom. Clean and comfartable bed. Perfect staff, they were very friendly, helping and kind. Location is excellent, close to Monet's garden. There is a traditional fireplace in the kitchen, we ate omlet cooked in that fireplace, it was delicious.
