Reviews for Moulin des Chennevières
Review 1:There was very little we didn't like but our room on the top floor required a limbo dance to get to the bathroom.
Review 2:Lovely building, aperos offered before going out for dinner, very well located for Monet's garden, comfortable sitting room and safe parking.
Review 3:I could think of nothing to write other than everything was fabulous!!
Review 4:Everything!! AN AMAZING BREAKFAST FEAST, beautuful surroubdings, excellent location and delightful hosts. Will definitely return.
Review 5:The building and grounds are gorgeous. Stephanie is sweet and helpful. The property is within easy walking distance of Monet's house and garden and the bus parking area. The fact that there is no elevator was not a problem for us but may be an issue for some.
Review 6:Beautiful B&B with gorgeous property around it.Hosts were so very friendly. We ate dinner with them one night and it was a fabulous and enjoyable meal, Great location - walking distance to Monet's home and gardens. We wished we could have stayed longer.
Review 7:Only thing was hard to fill bath with only shower spray head not filler tap!
Review 8:Location good for a quiet night, good service and very clean Secure parking
Review 9:We enjoy everything very much! Especially dinner! Great location and very convenient room with a the great view and a separate bathroom. Will recommend to everyone. Thank you.
Review 10:Be prepared to carry luggage up narrow stairs. Our room did not have a shower but had a large bathtub.
Review 11:Stephanie and her family run this charming inn with good humor and great hospitality. Breakfast, appetizers, wonderful room, and beautiful grounds make this a place where you want to spend time. Buttercup was the name of our room (one with a terrace).
Review 12:The bed was a little bouncy.
Review 13:The location was great. The owner was very helpful with information about the area and tickets to Monet's house and gardens. The grounds were pretty and very well kept. Breakfast was tasty and satisfying.
Review 14:I didn't care much, but wi-fi wasn't working properly.
Review 15:Pretty decor and antiques everywhere plus lovely grounds with exotic animals and old mill. Giverny itself has lots to offer, including great food, and one can go everywhere on foot. Plus, free bike use available (did not use this time).
Review 16:An exceptional building full of charm and so well locAted at the exit of the village. The welcome we got was truly outstAnding, such a nice and helpful couple. We loved everything! Breakfast is really delicious with lots of choices and healthy products. A gem of a place.
Review 17:Uncomfortable bed for two on very top bedroom.
Review 18:Friendly owner (Madame) with a great sense of humour! Spacious gardens with a menagerie of more exotic pets. Superb spread of breakfast items. Within 5 minutes walk to Monet's gardens. Portable air conditioning in bedrooms. Tea making facilities available in bedroom. Would stay again ... But different room
Review 19:Couldn't fault this place if you tried. Fantastic location, super hosts, very friendly & helpful. Fabulous old mill which has been renovated superbly. The breakfast was amazing.
Review 20:This place was wonderful! It was beautiful. Our hosts were welcoming and even went out of their way to make sure we had breakfast before an early flight. They gave us an excellent recommendation for dinner at the Hotel Baudy. We loved seeing the animals especially the kangaroos and capybaras I would love to stay here again!
Review 21:No CCs accepted. Wish we didn't have to rush off in the morning!
Review 22:Everything: beautiful property with exotic pets, nice (Sunflower) room with modern jetted tub and shower, terrace, delicious dinner, close to Monet's Garden, friendly proprietor (& pups)...
Review 23:Place was full of character and fun. We loved the setting! Entirely inagreement with other reviewers who enjoyed the communal breakfast andchance to chat with other guests. Been meaning to do Monet's gardenfor years and it wasn't disappointing. Would definitely stay again.
Review 24:The location was brilliant as we wanted to visit Monet's house. The house is full of character and Stephanie and Gerard (the proprietors) really made us welcome. I can thoroughly recommend the aperitif.
Review 25:if wi-Fi is really important to you, you may want to pick another place, as it was very erratic. It didn't really matter much to us, and didn't detract from the overall experience.
Review 26:This is a very charming bed and breakfast in an old mill. The location is perfect - less than a 5 min. Walk to Monet's garden. The hosts were very friendly and helpful - they sell tickets to Monet's garden and saves you standing in line ! The room was comfortable and the private bathroom very spacious. We lowed walking around on the beautiful property and seeing all the exotic animals. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful and varied and we enjoyed being able to eat outside. Would definitely recommend it and would love to return.
Review 27:I could not walk upright in my bedroom owing to the extremely low sloping ceiling!( I'm not tall either.) In addition there was a large horizontal wooden beam dividing the room in half necessitating constant bending. Very uncomfortable.
Review 28:Absolutely beautiful location! Excellent breakfast. Walking distance to Monet's Garden.
Review 29:Hostess a little brusque. We arrived too early to access the room which we understood. However, it would have been hospitable if we had been able to at least use a bathroom. Instead we were directed 1/4 mile away to use public toilets. The room was up two flights of narrow stairs and the room was a bit of a tight squeeze with no air conditioning. The tea making facility was in the bathroom as was the wardrobe which consisted of six hangers on a wall !!
Review 30:Beautiful building and surroundings in a very peaceful location. Great breakfast.
Review 31:Loved the exterior grounds and exterior building with the water mill, creeks, animals and views. Loved how convenient and close is was to Monet Gardens without being noisy or busy. Stephanie and husband very nice, friendly, and kind.
Review 32:Location is good. The room under the roof is so cute. It is a precious experience for us to stay such a cute room. And, a breakfast is amazing. The pan is best among a lot of breads we ate in this France trip.
Review 33:I loved everything about the Moulin -it was a great experience staying there
Review 34:I loved being greeted so warmly by Stephanie. I loved staying in an old mill where the paddle wheel still works and produces power for heating and hot water. I loved being virtually next door to Monet's water garden. I loved the garden and menagerie.
Review 35:It was quite easy to hear people talking, even quietly, in the neighbouring room. On the first night there was a problem with no hot water, but I understand this was a one-off event and it was resolved within a day. Breakfast is served around one big table which didn't suit us as much, being used to quiet mornings, but some people might love this!
Review 36:Friendly welcome, good location, very good value, beautiful grounds and property, generally a superb experience. The eclectic range of animals added to the quirkiness and character.
Review 37:I missed the fact they don't take credit cards; cash only. The Internet was not really working.
Review 38:Stephanie and her husband helped with tickets and other information. Very helpful
Review 39:Nothing against this B&B
Review 40:Rooms are quite individual and quirky but in a good way. Calming and restful llitle or no traffic noise even if on the side of the road. Would I stay here again? YES without any hesitation
Review 41:Location & history. Place is old but remodeled inside. Our bathroom was beautiful and cozy room with antique furniture. Breakfast was great. Enjoyed all the animals. Gave stepanine a tip we got lost going to find a map for sale. Our fault for not having one. Had to call her twice for directions back. Place is easy to find we were lost in next town we went to for dinner. It got dark and the round abouts confused us. Vernon is not small like Giveny. Adventure!
Review 42:Everything was wonderful!!
Review 43:Beautiful grounds and cozy accommodations. Kangaroos, Patagonian Mare (yes, I'd never heard of that animal either) also rabbits in the beautiful serene garden. We felt welcome as the owners were very friendly and helpful. We were able to purchase tickets for Monet's Garden from the owner at this hotel and we were able to enter the garden early at 9am. The hotel is located about a five minute walk from Monet's Garden. Close to restaurants. I will definitely return to this lovely B & B.
Review 44:The building was a little quirky, but full of character. Wonderful breakfasts / beautiful grounds with interesting animals / hostess went to great trouble to make us feel at home. Very secure parking.
Review 45:The owner, Stephanie, was a delight--friendly and helpful. A terrific bucolic location close to the Impressionist Museum, Monet's Garden and restaurants. The old stone home had lovely rooms for rent and views.
Review 46:Nothing to dislike at all.
Review 47:Comfortable and spacious bedrooms. Large bathrooms. Beautiful old mill setting with lovely gardens. Owners very friendly and helpful. Great breakfasts with delicious coffee.
Review 48:Because of delays in arrival our visit was a bit rushed
Review 49:Excellent location, welcomed as part of the family and ate an excellent meal all together Could have stayed longer
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:Excellent, friendly hosts Made to feel at home Breakfast Included in evening meal Excellent cooking Wifi Character of the mill house The park and animals Closeness to Monet's gardens etc Secure parking Value for money
Review 52:Service could be improved, flexibility in small issues would do no harm nor take extra time.
Review 53:We stayed on a second floor, no elevator. Room was OK size, limited storage space. No AC, windows got wet during the night. In our room bathroom was privete but on the other side of the corridor. House itself is lovely and it is located very convenient if visiting the Monet's House & Garden.
Review 54:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Welcoming host, beautiful house and amazing large gardens to enjoy, featuring kangaroos, ostrich, emu and llamas!
Review 55:Nothing really. Would probably prefer not to have the attic room another time but it was all they had available. The room was comfortable but had very low beams and I hit my head! The other rooms I saw looked very pretty.
Review 56:Very friendly charming family -really well placed for visiting Monet's House and Garden and the village of Giverny which is well worth a visit. Beautiful breakfasts with home made bread, jams etc all sitting at a long table together, would definitely go back.
Review 57:In view of the price charged, i'd say the bedroom and bathroom are in need of an up-grade (we stayed in 'Poppy')
Review 58:The owners, location, the building itself and the breakfast. Stephanie was really helpful advising us where to eat in the evening and we could buy tickets for the Monet museum from her.
Review 59:No problems at all with BnB, but it is set up for those wishing to share in someone's home rather than as a guest house, I liked that, but not all might. Also, if travelling by train to Vernon beware buses to Giverny are set up for daytime visitors - arriving late afternoon, I needed to take a taxi!
Review 60:Lovely family atmosphere and shared mealtimes with great conversation ... five nationalities around the table all chatting aided by hostess's excellent English ... All delighted by place and helpful hosts. Welcoming hosts and children providing fabulous breakfasts and great dinner with aperitifs and nibbles. Lovely garden to relax in Beautiful building and v close to Monet's garden ... A gem of a find ... I hope to return!
Review 61:Particularly charming B&B. The hostess Stephanie spoke good English and was excellent on email setting up the booking. The free bikes were appreciated so we could pedal around the wider area and the meal on our second evening was a real highlight of our Giverny stay.
Review 62:Great stay. Friendly hosts. Great breakfast. Ideal location for Monet's gardens.
Review 63:Owners were very hospitable. Location and setting were great! Right in Giverny Village. Breakfast was included and was wonderful!
Review 64:Very welcoming. Exotic animals (like the wallabies) are quite something

Review 68:Small room
Review 69:Brilliant location

Review 71:Proximity to Giverny, friendly hosts, and it's charm.
Review 72:Beautiful surroundings, very friendly family, lovely gardens and animals! Really close to town and convenient for the Gardens and restaurants.
Review 73:Staff and breakfast were wonderful. Location is great. Building lovely
Review 74:Small rather airless room Faded decor
Review 75:Convenient for visiting Monet's garden at Giverny
Review 76:Tthe ambience and location were perfect after long distance travel and a few days in busy Hong Kong.
Review 77:Lovely location and old mill. Great family run spot. Very close to Monet's home and garden.
Review 78:ambiance, breakfasts, attentive owners, well located (walk over to Monet's home and garden)
Review 79:got a room without toilet
Review 80:location is good
Review 81:Grounds were very pretty.Breakfast excellent. Very close to Monet's garden. Very welcoming and friendly.
Review 82:Friendly and helpful staff.Lovely interesting country place to stay and convenient to all things of interest in Giverny.
Review 83:Lovely atmosphere and friendly hosts. And a five minute walk from Giverney. We would certainly stay here again.
Review 84:Communal breakfast was a bit intimidating for us. We stayed in the Peony room which is an attic room with low beams to duck under to get at the bathroom. There is no door between the bedroom and the bathroom - again, a bit of a shock if you are used to your privacy.
Review 85:Lovely hostess, lovely location with a menagerie in the garden. Convenient for Giverny gardens - good to see the place after the main tourists had left for the day. Knowing that the electricity is made on site using the mill wheel gives a good feeling.
Review 86:I loved this place, it was a little paradise for anybody who loves to be surrounded by beautiful nature and animals, the host were lovely and really helpful, the breakfast was really good, I strongly recommend this place!
