Reviews for Qualys-Hotel de Gramont

Review 1:We were 3 rugby supporters on our first visit to Pau. We stayed 2 nights at the hotel and it excellent. The rooms we were given were comfortable and clean. The staff really made this hotel. They're English and local knowledge is great and they're so friendly and willing to help. They would suggest where to eat and which bars to visit. The breakfast was typical continental but there was plenty of it. The hotel is situated in the middle of Pau, and is very close to the restaurants, bars and shops. I would love to recommend this hotel to everyone as it made our stay in the beautiful city of Pau much more rewarding.

Review 2:There was no nice view from any of our windows. It's was quite hot in our room even in November but we couldn't open the windows just a fraction, it was either wide open or shut. We kept them shut as they all opened out onto the hotel roof top. The corridors were quite dark and the kids thought them creepy, even when you turned the light on. 'Here's Johnny' became a catchphrase ;-)

Review 3:The location is brilliant, in the centre of town! We stayed in the family room with our 3 kids 18,16 & 7. The staff were friendly and helpful and allowed us to park right outside the front doors. Good sized rooms. We didn't stay for breakfast as thought 11 euros per person didn't sound like good value for a family of 5. We were on a road trip, so decided to pick up something for a fraction of that price on our way.

Review 4:Slightly old fashioned suite and decor throughout. Could do with a bit of a facelift

Review 5:Central situation and parking. The receptionist even moved her own car so that we could park right outside

Review 6:Could possibly require a update in some areas for example the air conditioning. Although hotel location is excellent the only view from both windows was non existent.

Review 7:Excellent location everything close to hand

Review 8:Given that the hotel has very high ratings, I was expecting something extraordinary, but it wasn't really. The first room we were offered hadn't been cleaned - they quickly apologised and gave us an upgraded room, which I appreciated. However, I thought the decoration of the upgraded room, though recently done, was a bit of a miss - the cupboards were painted turquoise which looked very bright next to the grey. Overall the hotel looks a bit odd as they have clearly recently updated about half of it, with the other half still clearly visible.

Review 9:The location was good and we had a peaceful night.

Review 10:None. We didn't take the opportunity to eat at the hotel, so cannot comment on that.

Review 11:We loved having a suite in such a perfect downtown setting. The layout of the suite was excellent and accommodated our family of 5 with kids from 15-7 in age very well. The hotel may be old but it holds up very well. My kids particularly liked the fact that the Tour de France cyclists were staying in the same hotel for the week of the local Pyrenee legs.

Review 12:We asked for a quiet dark room and got a room at the front of the hotel with 3 large windows, not the best nights sleep. Would also be too hot when the weather turns warmer.

Review 13:Location. Bed was very comfortable. Friendly staff. Bar area newly decorated.

Review 14:Nothing.

Review 15:Free wi-fi (good quality connection), friendly & helpful staff, larger than normal bathroom, balcony with table & chairs - some outdoor space is a real bonus in hotels these days.

Review 16:Hotel a little tired and worn. Information in room dated from 2007.

Review 17:Proximity of hotel to Pau town centre, bars and restaurants. Friendly helpful staff. Parking outside hotel, may only be possible in winter months

Review 18:Nothing

Review 19:The hotel location is great! Rooms are well design and contemporary. The bathroom mirror doesn't get foggy when one takes a shower because it's heated (very smart). We got a parking spot right in front of the hotel.

Review 20:This hotel was lovely. Full of charm and character and close to everything in Pau without being noisy. The staff were courteous and helpful and the breakfast ticked all the boxes. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 21:That we couldn't stay longer!

Review 22:Very comfortable hotel in a wonderful position, we even got free parking right by the hotel entrance! The staff were really friendly and helpful. We had 2 rooms as we were travelling with my father in law. Both rooms were excellent and very different from each other, individual charm. Great value for money and Pau is charming with wonderful views of the Pyrenees.

Review 23:Well placed and easy to find. Staff were polite, helpful and welcoming. Rooms comfortable and clean Breakfast good

Review 25:friendly, efficient staff location was perfect parking facilities

Review 26:The rooms have a lovely 30's feel - modern and comfy but charming. Bed was large! Bedding of good quality!! Bar facilities excellent!

Review 42:Peolpe and Location

Review 43:limited on site car parking facilities

Review 44:central for main sights and local restaurants

Review 45:Excellent breakfast - friendly staff - great location

Review 46:Not a big negative but the décor is quirky!

Review 47:Location, cleanliness, very helpful staff, good choice at breakfast.

Review 48:The decor of the rooms were very dated and tired. More modern hotels are no more expensive. Only limited secure parking

Review 49:Location

Review 50:Super location, staff and value for money

Review 51:Hard to find on Google maps, 11 Eu breakfast too steep, weak WiFi.

Review 52:Proximity to old town of Pau, Chateau, Cathedral, restaurants, shops

Review 53:Family room downstairs is bleak and cellar-like. Avoid it if possible.

Review 54:Location. View. Pool table.

Review 55:Expensive to reach from airport by taxi.

Review 56:This hotel is a typical European hotel. Each room is different andrelatively small. The stay was very quiet. The elevator was small, likein many French hotels. The staff was pleasant - they spoke only a littleEnglish. Breakfast was expensive (as is typical in France), so I did noteat at the hotel. The hotels was very close to the Chateau de Pau aswell as restaurants, patisserie, and shopping. The taxi to the airportwas about 25 Euro, but is was more on Sunday (~33 Euro).

Review 57:Nothing to dislike.

Review 58:First time in Pau - location of hotel excellent and free parking was an unexpected bonus. Reception was very helpfuln and friendly.Enjoyed Pau and views of the mountains.

Review 59:Room was quite small and dark. Reception, dinning and lounge areas of a good standard but other areas are in need of some refurbishment.

Review 60:good central location. Free parking outside hotel. View from room window good.

Review 61:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 62:The best part about the Hotel De Gramont is its staff. They always welcomed us warmly, helped us find parking, brought out local maps to help us plan our drives, recommended local restaurants, took care of laundry, and kept the rooms in spotless condition. Breakfasts were generous and delicious. The hotel is near the castle and convenient to the city center without the inconvenience of being in the pedestrian zone

Review 63:the ony thing that may need improving is the passage lighting but there is switches on the walls. This would not stop me staying there again.

Review 64:Clean, friendly, helpful, good location for both attractions of Pau and Restaurants, quiet and good breakfast

Review 65:All was excellent.

Review 66:Family business with friendly, outstanding personal attention. The proprietress even drove us to the train when the taxi failed to arrive. Breakfast was welcoming with fresh local produce and personal attention. Our room was quiet yet looked over the square. Airconditioning quite and efficient during record heat wave. We had the superior suite which was real value for money with entrance area to store luggage, good hanging space, sitting area, large queen bed and roomy bathroom. Free wifi. We were tired after a busy day so Nicole made us an omelette and salad so we wouldn't have to go out in the heat. Now that is service.

Review 67:Stuffy room - air con unit supplied but was noisy and carpet was soaked with water (reported it twice but nothing done about it) Worn, tired hotel not as grand as the the photos show

Review 68:Receptionist was helpful and polite. Location was great for the centre Reasonably comfortable Breakfast good

Review 69:Location, lighting ,staff, parking: all of these were excellent........ We were detained due to illness and had to cancel two nights ---- more than generous accommodation by the hotel: just a small fee for the second night we had to cancel !!!! Would send friends here. Room overlooking tiny plaza and street was large and had double (insulating) windows: Very quiet

Review 70:Dark spooky hallways, in part because timed lights go on for a shorttime. Walking down to our friends' room, it was a race to keep allthe lights on. The hallway carpet and walls need to be updated.

Review 71:Very helpful staff, good location, excellent buffet breakfast, good WiFiconnection. Comparing with friends' room, we found vast differencesin space in room and bathrooms, so make sure to ask if you feel stronglyabout something.

Review 72:We had the family suite which was ideal for our 3 children. Breakfast was very good and is free for kids under 12. Nice lounge area with pool table. Good location on the edge of he old town.

Review 73:We actually didn't have a tea kettle in our room, our friends did, somake sure you ask for one if you want one.

Review 74:Very nice family run hotel. They have recently renovated. Some roomshave tea kettle in the room. Breakfast was copious though classicFrench; croissant, bread, jam. Great local yogurt. Fresh fruit. Friendlyservice. Very good bath towels.

Review 75:The hotel is very well placed, close to the Pau castle, rooms nice and clean, stuff is very friendly and helpful. A very nice place to return to, after spending a day walking around Pau.

Review 76:The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The location was great. Plenty of cafes/restaurants nearby. Short walk to historic centre. The room decor was a little dated compared to some, but the room was comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of room for two at the same time. The continental breakfast was served promptly and was very reasonably priced (9 euros). I wish we'd had more time to explore and use the hotel as a base for day trips. Certainly will use it again if we get back.

Review 77:The superior double room was spacious and airy ( big windows overlooking the square) with a settee in a separate angle, a good-sized desk, and a a comfortable bed.. The bathrom was off a separate entrance hall with hanging and storage space. The breakfast was varied and of good value. The staff were freindly and helpful

Review 78:Les lits sont très grands et très confortable. La chambre était très propre. Leur petit déjeuner est magnifique, même du lait de soja! Le personnel était tous très symphatique.

Review 79:Very helpful and friendly staff. Large, comfortable room (we had the family 'suite') - air-conditioned and quiet. Good breakfast too (made excellent value by being free for under 12s). Moments away from the Chateau de Pau and Boulevard des Pyrenees.

Review 80:Staff were friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Was expecting a standard twin share room - instead we were each given a double room and ensuite that shared a common entrance door from the main corridor. Our rooms overlooked the square below. The rooms were quiet and comfortable with well appointed, cosy ensuites. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to people looking for location, value for money and who value being made welcome by hotel staff.

Review 81:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to therailway station and to the centre of Pau. Room service was prompt andthe food very tasty. Shutters on the windows were an added bonus, so wecould make the room really dark for a good night's sleep in thecomfortable bed.

Review 82:Great location and free parking in front. Very good receptionist. Room was a little dated but clean and comfortable. Pretty good breakfast.

Review 83:Nothing to not like.

Review 84:Friendly staff, comfortable, great location in the old centre.

Review 86:Good location. Great style. Good breakfast. Good location.

Review 87:Very good location. Extremely helpful and friendly personnel.. Excellent breakfast

Review 88:Toilets in all the hotel were not perfect.

Review 89:The room was clean and placed in front of the main square of the town.

Review 90:Fantastic Manager who went out of his way to help us park, assemble our bikes, lock them up, give us breakfast at 0530!! Very friendly about it all.
