Reviews for Aber House

Review 1:Low ceiling height in the basement suite, but quite comfortable once you got used to not bumping your head!

Review 2:Very welcoming and accommodating hostess, nothing too much trouble! Cleanest and freshest bedding in a B&B I've seen for years!!

Review 3:On the night we stayed there was a rowdy disturbance right outside which affected our sleep. The basement studio was nice but there was bit of noise from above from people wakling around on the wooden floor which was annoying but it did settle down later in the evening.

Review 4:Excellent location, handy for the town and the beach.

Review 5:Would've given Aber House a higher comfort rating, if not for lack of headroom in Basement Suite! I'm only 5'8" but had to duck under doors, and bend to get jumpers off etc. Great for Hobbits! lol

Review 6:Excellent friendly staff, nothing any trouble! Cleanest, freshest bedding I've seen for a long time! Good Breakfast choice! Thank you Elisabeth!

Review 7:thought the price was a lot for a room with a shared bathroom and the price we paid was £10 more per night than the advertised rate.

Review 8:lovely host, nice comfortable, tasty breakfast

Review 9:because we had a small dog we stayed in the basement flat, the bed in the main sleeping area was to soft so we slept on a hard sofa bed for three nights. The flat can't be considered as self catering as there is no where to make anything other than tea/coffee.

Review 10:good location for a visit to a lovely area. breakfast we good. the owner was very friendly.

Review 11:A warm welcome with nothing too much trouble, excellent breakfast with variety and choice, helpful with information about the area and ideas for walks including the loan of a few books, would definitely stay again.

Review 12:nohting not to like, I knew at booking the room shared a bathroom, which was no problem, and reflected in price, but if pushed, would obviously prefer en-suite facilities in all rooms. Wi fi was a bit strained.

Review 13:hospitality, helpfulness, and atmosphere, superbly located, with nice thoughtful 'touches' - such as chocolates in the room. Excellent breakfast, with fresh fruit and pastries. Liked the quiet and no fuss approach.

Review 14:Very warm welcome, breakfast was lovely, staff helpful and friendly. Abe Hotel was everything all the other reviews had said and I was not disappointed. Would recommend.

Review 15:No bad experience, but better lighting for the mirror would be helpful.

Review 16:Comfortable bed, attractively decorated room, clean, good mattress & pillows, easy access to shared bathroom. Excellent breakfast and I really liked all the ducks in the window.

Review 17:Wifi signal erratic but to be fair this was an issue everywhere and didn't detract from a great stay.

Review 18:Excellent central location. Elisabeth made us very welcome and she has created a lovely B&B with cafe that serves her delicious cakes and biscuits. We stayed in the 'flat' which was perfect for a family of four.

Review 19:Not a bad experience, though as a late booking our room had a shared bathroom, made easier by having bathrobes provided in room.

Review 20:Everything, breakfast was extremely good, plenty of variety. To have a cafe attached was a bonus, food/ drinks choice was superb, homemade too. Car parking provided on site. Dog friendly.

Review 21:friendly and helpful staff, great décor with modern art photos good music played in the house ability to park off road, the breakfast the room and the view...... ! accommodated for an extra night at very short notice.

Review 22:Very nice house, great sea view at the Queen's studio. Owner helpful and welcoming. I highly recommend the place for a family trip to Barmouth or surrounding area.

Review 23:Nothing everything was fine

Review 24:We where made very welcome as soon as we arrived and all the staff were very friendly and polite it made our stay enjoyable and relaxed It was a pleasure to stay there

Review 25:Shared bathroom not great, breakfast good but server could have been a little more friendly. Overall a nice stay.

Review 26:Excellent location, lovely spacious room and very comfortable bed. Parking facilities good!

Review 27:nothing not to like can't say nothing bad about aber house

Review 28:All of it excellent home from home Elisabeth very helpful nothing to much trouble ,very very clean and comfortable great breakfast ,and great position in town definitely be going again thank you Elisabeth for great stay

Review 29:Located in the basement you could constantly hear people working in the kitchen above, very noisy at times. The lighting was a big issue as you needed the light in the main bedroom on to work the bathroom light which obviously disturbed the occupants in the main room.

Review 30:Central location, safe area to park Great sized room especially having a young child with us It felt quite cold in the basement but we asked for the heating to be put on, once this had been done it was a lovely warm space! Staff were helpful and accommodating especially to our young child. Lovely crisp, ironed sheets and nice duvets!

Review 31:Basement Studio may be a bit claustrophobic for some (not a problem for us) with low ceiling and lack of windows. Not ideally suited for 3 adults due to the idiosyncratic light switch arrangement. The toilet/Shower is accessed from living/bed settee area but its lights only work if rear bedroom lights are on as well!!

Review 32:Parking, own entrance, excellent breakfast, friendly and extremely hospitable reception.

Review 33:The studio itself was great and totally suited our needs. However, the sofa was very uncomfortable. We did sit on cushions which helped though. It would have been very helpful if there had been a fridge. :)

Review 34:Elizabeth was very helpful and welcoming. We hired the studio. An excellent, central location. She is an amazing cook and you just HAVE to try her cakes. She has a café; Thursdays to Sundays. I have never tasted such a gorgeous chocolate brownie. My husband loved the raspberry and chocolate cake too. Elizabeth was also very accommodating of our border- terrier. Thanks for such an enjoyable stay!

Review 35:The only thing I would criticise would be the noise from the rooms above. It felt like they were walking on your head probably due to ceilings being very low in our bedroom.

Review 36:The breakfast and staff were excellent. The room very clean.

Review 37:The owner was extremely welcoming and friendly and the cleanliness was outstanding. Breakfast was fabulous! I would definitely stay again and recommend to everyone.

Review 38:Private basement studio, double bedroom, bathroom and twin bedroom was so comfortable for family of 4 and small dog. Great private parking, and secure bike lockup. Lovely, friendly people and a great breakfast. Couldn't ask for more.

Review 39:No complaints at all!

Review 40:Excellent location, breakfast was awesome loads of choice. Staff were really helpful and really friendly. Free parking and strong wi-fi.

Review 41:Friendly and forthcoming staaf. Very nice place at an excellent location. Near the train station, the centre and the beach. Recommending it to anyone who likes a nice holiday/ break.

Review 42:Only having three days.

Review 43:Friendly, helpful owner. Perfectly cooked breakfast and delicious homemade cakes freshly baked daily. Comfortable bed. Not having to rely on the car. Situated close to beach, harbour, restaurants and coastal train.

Review 44:Aber House is a beautiful building in a great location. The room we stayed in was very nice and spotless clean. Bathroom sharing was not a problem at all. Breakfast was great too.

Review 45:Toilet wouldn't flush no sink or microwave in the room and no acess to WiFi in the 4 people bedroom we stayed in

Review 46:Lovely breakfast and the host was very welcoming big family room

Review 47:After the amount of walking I did a warm bath would have been good. A minor point as the shared shower was never busy.

Review 48:An excellent stay. Easy walk to beach, railway station and local walks. Breakfast included the usual range plus cheese, salad and cake. The café attached serves lovely home made cakes and biscuits. Friendly, quiet, comfortable and cake.

Review 49:When I came into barmourh Aber house was the first house . The location was perfect. Parking was available for me. We was created by Elizabeth the owner. The view from our room was great the mountains in front and the sea to the right. The room was a good size. We had to share the bathroom which wasn't a problem as we never had seen any one else. Aber house gets 10 out of 10

Review 50:Really dont mind not having toiletries in the bathroom as it is not environmentally friendly and is wasteful, but the one thing which is useful is handsoap just because its something you tend to forget! However this is really splitting hairs!

Review 51:The rooms were excellent - the family room was perfect for us and very comfortable and gave us the opportunity to put the kids in the adjoining room which allowed us to sit and chat on the sofa next door. The breakfast was wonderful - what a refreshing homemade change from generic big chain hotels - we didnt expect the quality of the breakfast to be so good. The homemade cakes were delightful. The staff were really helpful but not intrusive - really excellent hotel!

Review 52:Some damp air Uncomfortable sofa bed Small TV

Review 53:Large family room and bathroom. Nice shower Comfortable double bed. Good choice of TV channels Superb location

Review 54:Needed darker curtains too much light

Review 55:Smelling the baking every evening and the smell of cooked breakfasts in the morning perfect! Plus the fire glow in the room made it very cosy

Review 56:It was a lovely stay for a weekend break. It is perfectly located in the middle of Barmouth town, the rooms were very clean and welcoming and so was the owner too. The breakfast was pretty good too! With it's price as well, we will definitely be visiting and recommending Aber House.

Review 57:Can't fault any part of our stay at Aber House !

Review 58:everything was immaculate on arrival view of beach from bedroom window. Warm welcoming family run B+B who obviously take pride in the service they provide !

Review 59:The rooms are a very good size, Vicky has only just taken over the b+b and she is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast's were very good and there was a good selection.

Review 60:We stayed in studio flat which was perfect for me and my two young children. Breakfasts were fantastic and such a friendly warm welcome. Perfectly placed in Barmouth for a first class seaside break.

Review 61:Room too hot - couldn't open window further and no fans etc. Not enough car parking space - had to pay £4 to park overnight to a not so friendly private owner.

Review 62:Great town centre location and for the beach. Lovely breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 63:No wifi as was in basement.

Review 64:We were greeted with both a friendly and professional welcome. Elisabeth was only too happy to help in any way. We had the basement studio and it was massive, comfortable and extremely clean. Breakfast was superb and the breakfast room relaxing and homely. I'm heavily pregnant and travelled with a toddler - Elisabeth made us feel at home and we'll definitely be back!
