Reviews for La Grenouillère

Review 1:Wine prices too high for what they were

Review 2:This restaurant with high comfort rooms is special. Eating here is not cheap, but you will remember your meal and want to come back. Exciting inventive modern cuisine presented and served with style in an old place but an eccentric yet pleasant modern setting (with Michelin star) The rooms have every comfort, and there are nice little touches added by the staff/service that make your stay rememberable wonderful and firendly staff. English spoken

Review 3:We stayed in the huts which are interesting. A bit dark and felt like we were camping in the woods. Imagine this would be very romantic in the winter with the wood stove burning but a bit dark and gloomy on a summers day. Dinner was also 'interesting'. An experience I won't forget but probably would not go back to either.

Review 4:Stunning setting and beautiful gardens. A must to walk around the village and waterways.

Review 5:We paid extra for a room with a bath but were provided with a room with a shower. The hotel refused to refund the additional charge. The food, though well presented, was immemorable with the exception of the main course.

Review 6:A beautiful setting which was memorable.

Review 7:Difficult to find - they need more signs within the residential complex.. An expensive night in all

Review 8:Attractive location, nicely restored accommodation, good beds. Dinner was a unique meal, excellent and varied food with style and good taste - deserves a Michelin star. Also, the Italian waitress's style for presenting the food and wine was superb.

Review 9:All too dark and the bedroom go the price far too small - the furnishings in the new dining area were certainly not to my taste - far too informal for very serious food - equally the breakfast room whilst having charming views was cramped and NO croissant for breakfast !! The food was good by pretentious and everything was OTT in price - sorry!

Review 10:Very pretty location ....but very near the river ...beautiful walks and an original wild flower garden that was enchanting - The building of the Grenouilliere is charming and almost certainly retaining its old original style surprisingly unspoilt by the stylish new additions-

Review 11:The cooking was superlative: unusual, imagnative and briliantly executed. The service in the dining room was first rate: prompt without being rushed; solcitous without being intrusive

Review 12:Booked on on a whim with very high expectations and they were all met or even surpassed, an overall fantastic experience. Everything was great, how they made you feel welcome, the quality of the food (dinner and breakfast), the design, the comfort everything.

Review 13:Normally hotels trying to be quirky of different get it wrong or it's a tacky experience, however, Frogs Legs surpassed all my expectations. DO stay in the huts and without giving the game away they are a lovely experience for a couple (leave the kids at home!!) The 9 course tasting menu was an experience, in that you are tasting some combos that you don't think will ever work, but they do....a delight and worth the rather hefty cost. You have to factor in the professional service and extra touches you get throughout the meal. Breakfast - wow, but in true Frogs Legs style, different - do it. Hard to expand on all the little touches they have incorporated into the stay without ruining the experiences for you but if you have stayed in hundred of hotel before and are bored with the "cookie cutter" formula do take a romantic break here as its truly an experience.....expect the unexpected, relax and enjoy it.

Review 14:outdoor "Theme" overplayed colour scheme in rooms

Review 15:Quality of restaurant food was superb

Review 16:Bit hard to find at night - some small roads blocked.

Review 17:Staff, ambiance, food, all off the scale.

Review 18:Food

Review 19:The food

Review 20:Not a lot

Review 21:Amazing food. Third time we have eaten here and never fails to impress. The huts are very interesting and very comfortable

Review 22:The modern food!

Review 23:Great staff, amazing location, food awesome. Take a camera !

Review 24:Nothing

Review 25:Great contemporary room, nice little extras, good value. Amazing and different food with faultless staff. Breakfast was sensational.

Review 26:Superb food.

Review 27:We loved the setting, the lay out of the buildings and the food was first class

Review 28:Damp rooms Poor facilities High prices Attitude of head waiter

Review 29:The location

Review 30:the rooms are rather pokey

Review 31:the wonderful food and the eccentric presentation

Review 32:not much choice in restaurant, menu with 9 courses or a la carte, which turns out rather expensive

Review 33:the food the setting the huts the bath the bed almost everything

Review 34:Huttes are a long way from the parking and I had to ask for help with bags - this should be offered as a matter of course at this price level.

Review 35:Unusual property - old building gently renovated with modern extension. Lovely welcome with home made lemonade. Huttes are quiet and relaxing. Very atmospheric dining room. Imaginative food and good wine matches.

Review 36:Several of the lights did not work in the bedroom and bathroom and despite reporting the problem, nothing happened. There was a decidedly "damp" feel to the room, always a problem with the location, but I feel that for the price a bit more effort should be put into dealing with the humidity. We were there in high summer in the depths of winter it could be grim. The dining room is a work of art, so was the food but the tables were so dimly lit it was difficult to see what we were was eating. The lighting levels need to go up a bit, especially for later in the year when dark evenings arrive.

Review 37:We have visited and stayed over a number of years and have watched the hotel and restaurant change. The food is exceptional, but not inexpensive. Not a typical Relais et Chateaux and I suspect some clients might be disappointed.

Review 38:Dark rooms - tricky if visually challenged.

Review 39:Superb setting. Food was excellent and imaginative - you need to be prepared Ty share the chef's ideas of cooking to fully appreciate this restaurant. The staff could not have beenore attentive.

Review 40:The long walk to the main building from our 'huntsmans hut' on the estate.

Review 41:The rustic French breakfast.

Review 42:Overall Unique experience! Must do

Review 43:Prices are high enough

Review 44:The place is well designed and exciting

Review 45:Very nice location,excellent food,very original facilities

Review 46:Nice room - well designed, good toiletries Restaurant - superb! Be prepared to pay a lot for a lot!

Review 47:Fabulous food - great location
