Reviews for Coq hôtel

Review 1:Second time we have stayed here. We love it - very friendly owners, really comfortable rooms, superb breakfast. Montreuil is a nice historic town with a good selection of shops/bars/restaurants. All round highly recommended.

Review 2:Standard French habit of a separate toilet with no handbasin

Review 3:Nice modern, spacious room in the annex, with 2 armchairs good bathroom minibar and free wifi. Easy access onto the back street so no need to trek through the garden and through the old building to get to the town

Review 4:Although staying for only 3-nights in early November the room was too warm and we had to sleep with the windows wide open so it would probably put us off from staying during warmer periods.

Review 5:Comfort and position of our room on the first floor overlooking the courtyard. Lovely and quiet in spacious surroundings.

Review 6:Nothing bad, but thought breakfast, though very good, was a little expensive.

Review 7:Hotel room very comfortable and warm. Breakfast items generous and fresh. Hotelier was very welcoming and helpful. Town brilliant and interesting with lots of excellent, though different restaurants.

Review 8:Staff were not very welcoming Paid for car parking space too small and difficult to get car in We need Wifi but it's UNUSABLE in room 25!!! Not great value for money in my opinion

Review 9:Central location Comfy bed and pillows Clean

Review 10:The 'exactly what we were looking for' hotel that you so rarely find! Easy reach of ferries and tunnel, secure parking, good restaurant, fantastic breakfast, good wifi, large comfortable bed, lovely welcome and sensibly priced. Will return.

Review 11:We have stayed at Coq Hotel more times than we can remember and we've always been given a great welcome. Clean, friendly and with every facility that we need in a wonderful town.

Review 12:We have not yet found anything we do not like.

Review 13:We have stayed at this Hotel on several occasions before. It is conveniently located about 70kms from the Channel Tunnel. Excellent dinner meal, excellent choice of food for breakfast. Secure parking. Very pleasant staff.

Review 14:Could have been brightened up with a bit of smiling.

Review 15:Excellent breakfast. Far superior to the breakfast in our 5* hotel Lille. The room was quiet and well appointed. Good value.

Review 16:Large, very comfortable rooms with up to date ensuite facilites. The breakfasts were marvellous, all the food was top quality and quantity. Fruit, charcuterie, cheese, croissants, breads, jams, fruit juices, yoghurt, etc.. The restaurant meal was first class. Interesting and beautifully presented.

Review 17:Comfortable, modern, well appointed rooms with free WiFi. Breakfast seemed a little expensive, but turned out to be excellent - well worth the money. Plenty of parking on nearby streets after 17.00.

Review 18:A small, family run hotel with a B&B feeling with an excellent, large well appointed room. The onsite formal dining is worth the stop alone. Great little stop for us.

Review 19:No one answered the door- no receptionist- but it was 8.30 pm and onThursday the restaurant was closed.....then they were very nice when they turned up. Suggested a decent bistro close by.

Review 20:Room was comfortable and well appointed. Helpful elevatotr for someone with anew knee.

Review 21:car parking very difficult, only room for 6 cars and that meant a shuffle, no wonder it cost 10.50 Euros

Review 22:Room very good, well equipped, clean and bed very comfortable. Food excellent

Review 23:The only minor issue for me was poor Wi-Fi in our room.

Review 24:Friendly, accommodating staff. Spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean room in newer part of building. The ability to reserve a parking space in secure courtyard.

Review 25:Lovely room overlooking the central courtyard. Evening meal in the hotel restaurant was absolutely delicious with service by friendly and attentive staff. The cold breakfast buffet spread was superb; one of the best I have seen.

Review 26:Don't like to say 'bad' but after a few stays you start to be irritated by some things. The tiny bar which at first we thought quaint and charming, is actually too small for comfort, seating a maximum of six. Also it is not really staffed, so whether you get served is a matter of luck. Why don't they serve a limited menu of aperitifs in the unused lounge area of the hotel annexe, say for an hour before dinner service?

Review 27:This is our seventh stay here. As always the dinner in the restaurant is excellent, as is the selection at breakfast. Bedroom and bathroom - spacious and modern. The distance from cross channel ferries and the tunnel is convenient, and the town of Montreuil, especially the medieval ramparts, is picturesque.

Review 28:The parking is limited and does require booking. Can be a tight squeeze, so be prepared to be blocked in or move in order to let others out. Wi-Fi was a little hit and miss, but didn't bother us as it was weekend and didn't need it.

Review 29:Excellent hotel providing clean and quiet accommodation. Shower toiletries supplied in addition to bathrobes. Restaurant very good and they allowed us to have our large dog with us rather than leave him in the room. Breakfast superb; so much choice and worth every euro.

Review 30:When we booked we were informed that the only day the restaurant was closed was Thursday. So it came as a shock when we arrived on Sunday to be told the restaurant was closed. Although car parking is available it is extremely limited, and caused some difficulties the following morning.

Review 31:Although the frontal facade suggests a typically small french hotel the facilities offered by way of a modern ,well-equipped, hotel are excellent, and at the heart of Montreuil is perfectly located.

Review 32:No functional WiFi but we appreciated the break from the internet. If you need or expect good internet connectivity, you might want to inquire about other options.

Review 33:Great service and wonderful breakfast. The facilities were very clean.

Review 34:Restaurant had to close on a Sunday despite booking especially . We were sent an e mail before arrival but disappointing considering we had driven for 6 hours and didn.t want to go out to eat.

Review 35:comfortable room, great breakfast

Review 36:Car park is very tight

Review 37:Great little hotel, nice room ( Evan have a kettle & coffee in the room). Clean , nice bathroom , Reasturant breakfast was brilliant, dinner was maybe average, but served with a smile.

Review 38:Owner was a little abrupt when I had to inform her we would be late arriving, she never made us feel quite welcome.

Review 39:Great location and breakfast, although not included in the price.

Review 40:The Wi Fi in the bedrooms was weak.

Review 41:Location in the centre of town with it's private car park, very helpful staff, very hard working to ensure a comfortable stay. The restaurant offered fine dining with a great wine list.

Review 42:Parking is a problem. Only limited pre-reserved parking and parking in Montreuil is a nightmare. Staff are a little aloof but professional and it's just quite old fashioned/inflexible approach.

Review 43:Breakfast is fantastic in this hotel. The hotel is amazingly located and rooms are always being upgraded. Staff are professional and courteous.

Review 44:Excellent friendly staff with a warm welcome and first-class breakfast. Clean, tidy and comfortable good sized room with en-suite bathroom. Lovely garden for enjoying a relaxing drink in the evening. Off-street parking in an enclosed courtyard.

Review 45:Everything about this hotel is perfect. It is an atypical French small town comfortable hotel with very clean & spacious bedrooms. The dinner is fantastic & beautifully presented as is the breakfast. Will definitely be back.

Review 46:Everything about our stay at this hotel was excellent. The evening dinner was exquisite as was the breakfast. The staff from management to housekeeping all work hard, to ensure you enjoy your stay in this quintessential French hotel. My parking space was reserved as requested & whilst I have a large car I found careful manoeuvring presented no problems, unlike others it seems. We stayed for 7 days, so I would recommend to those that just stay overnight on their way to or from other destinations, to stay a bit longer to enjoy what Montreuil & this hotel has to offer. We certainly will be back again & again.

Review 47:Lack of wifi access in room

Review 48:Staff were friendly, helpful and cheerful. We stayed in a family room which was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was fabulous and had a bath! At first glance breakfast appears pricey but the variety and quality made it good value. We didn't eat in the restaurant as would have been wasted on our teenagers!

Review 49:While we enjoyed our dinner, we felt the presentation could have been simpler, as each savoury dish was accompanied by lots of fruit, which we considered rather unnecessary.

Review 50:We particularly appreciated the helpful owners, the spacious bedroom and the excellent breakfast. The hotel is a fine building and well maintained.

Review 51:Nothing

Review 52:Splending hotel, situated at the heart of Montreuil. Beautiful garden. Also, the room was nice and comfortable. The price is very reasonable. You can reach the beach in Le Touquet in 20 minutes by car.

Review 53:Delightfully located near the main square (but very quiet) the hotel has two buildings. An original with a more modern (but sympathetic) block behind. Staying in the latter was a little disappointing but the facilities are excellent and the rooms well appointed. One of the best breakfasts anywhere and certainly worth the extra charge. Splendid staff. Highly recommended.

Review 54:Car parking is a problem I parked in the hotel courtyard and when leaving I had to reverse out and smashed my BMW wing mirror Cost £400! Caution to others with a large car

Review 55:Parking v tight and we were blocked in by another car - not a problem but might have been if you wanted to leave early. WIFI signal in family room non- existent but v good in hotel reception area.

Review 56:Lovely big family room with lots of space, comfy beds, great bathroom, very good quality furnishings. Central location, off street parking if booked, nice courtyard area. Tea and coffee making facility in bedroom - v unusual for France!

Review 57:I liked everything about this hotel. The food in the restaurant, the friendliness of staff, the room and the setting. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 58:We had previously reserved parking by phone but staff denied knowledge of this on arrival. In the end they allowed us to park but was not a good start to our stay. Wifi did not work in top (3rd) floor room.

Review 59:Comfortable room & bed. Quiet. Perfect location. Would definitely stay again.

Review 60:Not a thing I could put my finger on possibly car park too small but if that is my only gripe it amounts to nothing plenty of space on the road behind the hotel

Review 61:This is not the first time we have stayed here. Try the other hotels and then you will see why I rate this hotel 10 out of 10.

Review 62:Though the in house restaurant looked amazing we thought our 10 year old may not go for its sophistication.

Review 63:We loved the building, the location, the bed, the breakfast, the staff and the town. What a gem.

Review 64:We found reception in the accommodation area seemed never to be manned and we had to search for a member of staff to book us in. We could not get either wi Fi or a phone signal during our stay. Normally this would have only been a minor inconvenience but we were travelling home on the Eurotunnel the next day during all the disruption and needed to check to see if our crossing was delayed.

Review 65:The room was large and well equipped and had a very comfortable bed. The shower was very good and the bathroom well stocked with shower gel etc.

Review 66:Very spacious family room and fabulous food with lovely presentation. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pretty courtyard garden with lovely mix veg and flower beds. Perfect location in the heart of the village.

Review 67:This hotel is outstanding in every respect. The staff were excellent, the room was spacious and comfortable with every facility. The food in the restaurant was exceptional and the breakfast superb. Probably the best value for money in France.

Review 68:Not exactly gushing welcome - lacked atmosphere. Breakfast pricey. The hotel's annex where a number of bedroom are is hardly used - almost back to front. Concierge in the old main hotel.

Review 69:Room was excellent

Review 70:Nothing.

Review 71:Set back off a pretty square, this is a small, clean and quiet hotel . The accomodation is at the back of the property so street noise is not an issue, centrally located in the old town within a few minutes of the ramparts, which form a pleasant walk. We have stayed here before because of its location to the ports and are very happy with the standards.

Review 72:Never had a bad experience at The Coq!

Review 73:Everything! We like it so much we don't look for anywhere else to stay! We travel to The Dordogne 3 times a year and it's a good stop over point before returning home!

Review 74:There is nothing not to like, and excellent small hotel

Review 75:Everything is good thats not an I can't be bothered to reply response its a fact. We had dinner in the Hotel, superb One of the best Continental Buffet breakfasts I have ever had in a Hotel. All facilities excellent Staff wonderful Location great Town interesting, there is a walk all around town on the old fortifications, worth the effort.

Review 76:WiFi needed a stronger signal to be fully effective in the room. Car parking was secure but access to and from was not freely available.

Review 77:Very comfortable provincial hotel. Terrific buffet breakfast especially with the weak euro.

Review 78:Our room (in the more modern annexe) was extremely spacious and fitted out/furnished to a very high standard. The Staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. The Breakfast is huge and varied - we weren't hungry all day.

Review 79:Atmosphere in the dining room, very traditional room, quiet and conversation at next tables audible.

Review 80:Rooms in a modern building in the garden with excellent bathroom, large room with comfortable bed, spotlessly clean. Breakfast first class. Will definitely stay here again.

Review 81:Such a lovely Hotel to spend your last night on the way back up North to the Shuttle. After a long drive we were made so welcome and the room was spacious and very comfortable. We had dinner, which was superb, and enjoyed a very good night's sleep before setting off, once more, on our journey home. A super way to end your holiday. Thank You Coq Hotel.

Review 82:Felt that the parking charge levied was rather expensive especially as we stayed three nights.

Review 83:Room was very pleasant and spotlessly clean. Lovely courtyard to have our meals and relax in. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals at the hotel. Delicious!

Review 84:The car parking was abit too crowded. There was extr prking at the front.

Review 85:Madam who we had most contact with was very friendly and charming and all the staff were friendly and helpful. She spoke very good English also. The breakfast was excellent

Review 86:nothing to complain about at all.

Review 87:very spacious modern room. Excellent value for a splendid dinner and really filling excellent breakfast. Reserved parking a boon.

Review 88:The Hotel grounds are small being right in the town centre, so car parking spaces are limited.Street parking is free however, and proved to be no problem for us immediately outside the Hotel back entrance.

Review 89:Friendly and efficient without being overbearing. There are a minimum number of staff who work very hard and are very helpful. We did not feel pressed into anything at all. Food is excellent, and dinner is beautifully presented and served. Our stay was exactly as we had hoped, expected and envisaged, and this includes the price.

Review 90:Limited onsite parking ( book ahead ) but there is plentiful on street free parking.

Review 91:Staff are friendly. Breakfast is generous and wide choice (opt out if you don't want it). The restaurant is very very good and worth eating there even if you can't get a room. Pleasant central courtyard. Efficient Wifi.

Review 92:Restaurant faces pretty square and hotel is across pretty courtyard garden at the back so rooms very peaceful lovely room with everything we could have wished for. Very helpful staff and excellent breakfasts and dinner. Good off road parking and wifi. Cental but away from most traffic.

Review 93:Nothing of note

Review 94:This was our third visit. The hotel is small and friendly, with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. It is situated in a delightful small town easily reached from Calais, and close to lots of places of interest. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and have a safe. The dining room is full of character, and the breakfasts are excellent. Although there is no hot English breakfast, the food is of high quality and there's a wide choice on offer. The restaurant is also superb, with a fixed price option available.

Review 95:We have been here several times and each time was a lovely as the time before. An the dinner and breakfast were up to the hotel's usual very high standards.

Review 96:dinner was a big disappointment and poor value. there was a great clattering of metal trays or covers at 0030 in the morning - quite disturbing and unnecessary.

Review 97:room was modern standard 4 star hotel quality - if a little lacking in gallic charm. and breakfast was fantastic.

Review 98:Plenty of excellent places to eat in town (restaurant in hotel was closed when we were there). Lovely, relaxing courtyard to sit and read in the sun.

Review 99:Central location. Room not exciting as we were in the modern part across the courtyard but everything you need is in there, immaculately clean and comfortable. Great cold breakfast selection. Would highly recommend.

Review 100:A particular dog barking early every morning - but that might just be a problem in general with staying in town.

Review 101:Almost everything! Great room, staff and food (both breakfast and dinner)

Review 102:Everything was very good,in fact excellent.Evening meal and breakfast were among the best we ever had at a hotel.A very big bedroom with great facilities.

Review 103:Set in a small medieval town, this hotel reflected everything we were looking for from a traditional viewpoint - all the creature comforts without sacrificing traditional french ambience.

Review 104:Breakfast excellent. Lovely position on courtyard in old town centre. Return visit - will stay again, ideal situation for longer journeys into France.

Review 105:Parking can be slightly difficult but not a real problem as there is plenty of street parking

Review 106:The lady that runs the hotel works non-stop. Very clean and comfortable and has a typical French atmosphere that is lacking in other hotels. This is our second visit to the hotel and will certainly go again. The restaurant is also very good.

Review 107:The only drawback is lack of free parking on site.

Review 108:Modern very clean rooms. Courtyard. Great meal in restaurant. Fabulous breakfast. Lovely internal architecture in old part of building

Review 109:No wifi in the room and the wifi in the lounge was unreliable.

Review 110:spacious and clean family room, comfortable stay with very friendly service from Brigitte. Continental Breakfast is great - fabulous quality and variety.

Review 111:The lounge area is a bit uninviting.

Review 112:The quality of the accommodation was very good. The room felt modern and comfortable with comfortable bed and nice modern bathroom. The breakfast was excellent quality and well worth the charge.

Review 113:Small hotel in a very good location. Could not find any fault. The breakfast buffet was excellent. If I had to moan about anything then it was noise from other inconsiderate guests. That is not the hotels fault.

Review 114:Strange tiny reception in the corridor just as you go in. Assuming they use the proper reception in main building in peak season.

Review 115:Large quiet room with comfortable bed. Separate toilets. In the centre of town.

Review 116:The free Wi-Fi was not working.

Review 117:Since our last visit some years ago, the new bedroom block has been commissioned and these rooms are very comfortable, spacious and luxurious. The breakfast is as wonderful as ever.

Review 118:Excellent location for both Montreuil itself and as a base for both coast and inland sightseeing. The breakfast is really good with wide ranging options.

Review 119:Clean, modern standards of comfort but with plenty of character. The staff were extremely helpful and kind. A very pretty little bar and beautiful restaurant.

Review 120:The breakfast us really good and they have the best baguette in town Birgitta and her staff are very nice and cater fir all our needs, will always stay in that hotel room 22

Review 121:Wifi in the room didn't work - needs a booster from downstairs

Review 122:Delicious evening meal and amazingly good breakfast - love the fresh orange juice machine! Charming and efficient staff
