Reviews for The Lighthouse

Review 1:Location is fabulous, feels like you are miles from anywhere when in fact you are only 5/10 mins from Frome, Longleat, Centre Parc. Lovely building, comfortable rooms, spotlessly clean everywhere. Very welcoming staff. Do read the description as this is a alcohol free zone, so your liver gets a holiday also!

Review 2:Bedroom lights not very bright in the evening, difficult to read by. Maybe higher wattage in bedside table lamps

Review 3:Fantastic location, welcoming staff, lovely homely feel

Review 4:The scenery of where the lighthouse is located is stunning. Very clean. Staff are very friendly. The breakfast was lovely to. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Review 5:Friendly staff, good location to local attractions despite being in rural setting. Great outside space for kids to run around and for walks. Lovely breakfast Great pub 2 mins walk away for convenient dinner

Review 6:I used earplugs at night which is just as well because without them I could hear the conversation next door

Review 7:Important to remember that this is a guest house that provides bed and breakfast which it does very well. If you want an evening meal you need to go out and I strongly recommend the Fox and Hounds 3 minutes walk away where you will be looked after by their most delightful staff.

Review 8:Lack of a bar and allowance of alcohol on the premises

Review 9:We enjoyed the location of the hotel the very pleasant an helpful staff the beautiful and quiet room

Review 10:We really enjoyed the Lighthouse. The family suite is excellent. My wife is gluten-free and they were good with that. Had a walk around the lake and woods in their garden. Will stay again.

Review 11:Not a bad experience at all, but it felt more like a hotel than a B&B.

Review 12:Very efficient and clean. Great breakfast. Lovely room with it's own patio area.

Review 13:Although the place was very good, I considered it overpriced for what you got. If you were on a health trip, this is the place for you.

Review 14:Very modern, nearly new environment. Very clean and well set out.

Review 15:The quality of the breakfast didn't match the standard of the rooms. There would have been a £10 surcharge for checking in after 8.00pm. We didn't realise this when we booked.

Review 16:A lot of attention had been paid to the finish of the hotel. It was very well presented.

Review 17:Not much to do at venue however did have a swimming.

Review 18:Friendly staff who made us very welcome Pet friendly Clean environment Close to Longleat safari park and other shops such as sainsburys, KFC, Pizza hut

Review 19:When we arrived we recieved a warm welcome. Our room had everything you could want, it was light and airy beds very comfortable. Tea and coffee available. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfasts were very nicely cooked. A very happy stay.

Review 20:Room was bit hot at night no air conditioning only overhead fan which couldn't be on without light and skylight couldn't be opened if raining

Review 21:Lovely setting cosy and modern room

Review 22:Just a cafe on site so at first disappointed as that closed at 18.00. Compensated with fantastic local pub nearby

Review 23:Beautiful setting, tastefully renovated, relaxing environment and decor. Very friendly staff, great local pub 2 min walk away

Review 24:The WiFi signal wasn't great and the walls were a bit thin, we could hear our neighbours TV.

Review 25:Very comfortable room and the staff were very friendly.

Review 26:would have been nice to hace A/C in the room as it was a bit warm during my stay. YOU CAN INDEED SEE THROUGH THE MIRRORED GLASS in The Stables!

Review 27:Top notch small scale resort tucked away in a quiet corner of the countryside. Stunningly beatiful setting with lots of space for relaxing. Rooms were nicely furnished and well equipped.

Review 28:Lovely stay. Superb staff, especially the lovely lady who worked in the cafe on Friday lunchtime. She bent over backwards for us and my vegan daughter thought she was "an angel". Thanks so much for a lovely stay. Next time we will come back without three teens! ;)

Review 29:Dated, TV only in main room of family suite, blocked everytime you opened the door. Small toilet room. Price. Poor breakfast but mainly because I didn't like not having any sugar, milk and coffee at the table.

Review 30:Lovely location and handy for a stopover for Longleat. Exceptionally comfortable bed. Brilliant shower wet room.

Review 31:Breakfast was disappointing. It didn't appear completely cooked to order. The only other issue was that we could here everything going on in the room next door this however wouldn't stop us returning

Review 32:Stunning location and lovely accommodation not forgetting the welcoming pub down the road

Review 33:Location is beautiful and peaceful yet close to some major attractions and lovely villages. Accommodation well thought out, quality bedding and lovely toiletries. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 34:The only thing that we noticed was we could hear next doors T.V, However it wasn't a massive problem,

Review 35:The decoration of the hotel was very nice, very clean and comfortable, the location of this property is fantastic, beautiful views and the heated swimming pool right next door was lovely.

Review 36:This place was amazing! A gem. We arrived late and the owners were more than happy to assist us and even showed us around. The rooms were immaculate with all the little things to make you feel special. The gardens and grouds were fabulous and relaxing. The buffet and cooked breakfast was the best! I would recommend to anyone and would certainly go again myself.

Review 37:There is a swimmingpool next to the house. Due to babyswimming we could not use it. Furthermore it would cost us extra. For the price we paid swimming should be inluded.

Review 38:Very beautiful garden, lovely. Very nice breakfast. Nice living room for use of the guests with toys and games. Nothing extra outside for the children though there is enough room.

Review 39:I am sorry, but we found the beds really quite hard, as older persons we both suffer from bad backs. Possibly softer mattresses could be made available for people like us.

Review 40:The views were fabulous, having the lake there was nice. We would stay here again. We loved the location of Room 9, with a small outdoor seating area

Review 41:Rooms were very, very small. Could hardly walk round bed. Only 2 cups & tea bags provided for family of 4.

Review 42:Location was lovely and rooms were extremely clean.

Review 43:Cafe served the breakfast which was really limited and gluten and dairy free only. That's ok for one night stay, but gets a bit boring after 3 breakfasts.

Review 44:Guests are able to use a small kitchen with fridge. Nice peaceful surroundings.

Review 45:The design of the Stable rooms means you hear everything that is happening In the rooms adjacent (this is compounded when everyone has their skylight open - the only window in the room). - Beds were large but they (and especially the pillows) were not comfortable. Add this to the point above and it means we got about 4 hours sleep. - Found the listed £10 surcharge for late - after 8 pm - arrivals a bit bizarre . I have stayed at hundreds of places and never seen that. I assume they would want guests who travel up from London after work, but they would not be able to make their cutoff time and would be liable for a fine.

Review 46:- Beautiful location and proximity to longleat. - Nice, understated, modern styling. - Interesting period building. - Clean

Review 47:Lovely place and very friendly staff..Only problem was that I was worried about the kids breaking and touching things...Too posh for families with young children

Review 48:No issues, only personal preferences. The walk in wet room was perfect for the children but I missed not having a bath.

Review 49:The hotel had a Bohemian feel to it. A very easy going environment with parking, privacy and fields to explore.

Review 50:No " dislikes " whatsoever but would have liked a "Make -up " mirror and a soft close toilet seat . Smells from the guest kitchen permeate into the bedrooms . A heated towel rail in the bathroom would be nice .

Review 51:Friendly reception . Comfy lounge and restaurant . Good car-parking .Lovely grounds and lake area

Review 52:Wanted to go back, but if I want to book a weekend I have to stay a minimum of two nights. Have therefore booked elsewhere.

Review 53:The family suite was ideal. The facilities were good, everything was clean and the breakfast was lovely.

Review 54:First off it looks lovely as you pull in, the staff are very welcoming and the rooms where very nice; with a wide range of items to make you feel more comfortable!

Review 55:Perfect for unwinding. Whilst the 'Anti-alcohol' stance may upset or put off many people the pub located less than 100 yds away makes up for it as reasonably priced.

Review 56:The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were of good size. The area was very peaceful, a nice place to relax.

Review 57:One staff member incredibly rude to her colleague in front of guests. Rooms a little small.

Review 58:Reception staff very friendly and welcoming. Fabulous setting. Rooms warm and clean with some very welcoming touches

Review 59:No butter on breakfast table, bowls hidden in cabinet, no sauces out for breakfast and no one came back over so we could ask. Room very small and boiling hot even with fan on.

Review 60:From initial contact, Rowena and staff could not have been more helpful. I arrived by train to attend a wedding. Before starting my journey I was given a reliable contact to get me from a to b to c etc. The room was very clean and comfortable with 'life saving' complimentary vanity and manicure set in the en suite. Thank you! Dairy free milk was on offer to support in room tea n coffee making if required and gluten free options were also available at breakfast should I bring my daughter next time tho my full English breakfast was succulent! I sat in the lounge afterwards wrestling with WiFi reception in front of a lovely log fire which took away the frustration of connection. Once made, internet was fast. I'd certainly recommend. Compliments to all.

Review 61:The service was lovely and hospitable, with great surroundings to walk around. The room was lovely and the breakfast was delicious. I'd recomend to all types of travellers. Me and my partner would stay again.

Review 62:THE ROOMS DON'T HAVE ANY PROPER WINDOWS ONLY A SMALL SKYLIGHT. IT WAS LIKE BEING IN A TOMB. THE ROOM WAS HOT AND STUFFY, AND NOT VERY BIG.

Review 63:THE VIEW FROM THE LOUNGE AREA IS VERY NICE. I GOT ALMOND MILK FOR BREAKFAST.

Review 64:Not sure if underfloor hearing could be controlled but it was rather too hot overnight and fan was a little noisey to use. Couldn't find the wifi service in our devices.

Review 65:The setting is fantastic, staff were very welcoming and helpful. Room was delightful with great facilities. Food was excellent. We really enjoyed ourselves here and most definitely will consider staying here again for a longer stay

Review 66:Quiet location with wonderful views, dairy and gluten-free food, excellent value for money, use of sitting room to relax apart from own room, good facilities within the room, comfortable bed, excellent shower, excellent food, including breakfast. They have thought of everything!

Review 67:No bad experience, but reception is not open 24 hrs.

Review 68:Staff were all very friendly and super-helpful. Despite not being advertised, there was a very nice swimming pool on site (restricted times and a small extra charge) but worth the money. Overall, excellent value.

Review 69:That I could only stay for one night :(

Review 70:Everything! From the atmosiphere on arrival, to the moment I unfortunately had to leave the experience was perfect. The view out of the cafe window is to die for. The food was exquisite.

Review 71:under-floor heating in our room could not be turned off all night so we didn't sleep very well

Review 72:clean, private room with lovely touches to make you feel at home

Review 73:Towels could have done with changing but when mentioned at reception was done straight away. Rooms could use a little soundproofing.

Review 74:Helpful at reception. The food is great from the cafe and the people who work there are friendly and polite.

Review 75:The room was spacious and well presented with a very good bathroom. Facilities were spotless and the grounds were really nice. Staff were very accommodating.

Review 76:Not a bad experience, just that the WiFi connection was poor. I only managed to get 15 mins in the strongest area. I think a booster would be a good investment.

Review 77:A serene location, which is quiet and calm. I had dinner in the café which has gluten-free, dairy-free cuisine. I ate a scrumptious chestnut and fennel stew with green vegetables and full English breakfast which was lovely. The staff were friendly and very helpful. My room was clean, had a lovely big, comfortable bed, a powerful shower, was very warm and cosy. If I hadn't wanted to stay in my room I could sit in the lounge which had a log fire burning.

Review 79:We loved staying at the lighthouse it was a lovely place, the staff was friendly and the breakfast was nice aswell
