Reviews for Llwyndu Farmhouse
Review 1:We arrived at about 7pm to be told that orders for dinner ended at 6pm. We subsequently learned dinner was not served on Wednesdays in any case, or on Sundays. The dining room looked tired and down at heel. Internal woodwork, mouldings, doors etc obviously fitted by person who failed his GCSE woodwork exam. Definitely not worth its four star AA rating and poor value at £97.52 for a single night's stay.
Review 2:The farmhouse looked better from the outside than the inside. The proprietor gave us a friendly welcome.
Review 3:Beautifully converted farmhouse with wonderful views over the sea, from the grounds. Very friendly host and excellent breakfast. Extremely comfortable beds and relaxed and friendly atmosphere. What more could you want?!
Review 4:Lovely old property so full of character & charm. Bedroom was a mix of delight & some disappointment. Lovely comfy bed & linen but had to hang clothes in a little bolt hole off room on a rail, at first was very novel, but was damp / cold & no curtain at window. Bathroom was okay but needed updating ( owner did say they was revamping a room at at time. Long rough driveway a bit of a pain.
Review 5:Location, Views,Very friendly owners, Old building full of history. Food of a good standard. We had a lovely time, with a lot down to the owners & first 3 days the other friendly guests. Yes would use again :-)
Review 6:Could do with upgrading the beds/mattresses in the Barn.
Review 7:A wonderful traditional Welsh farmhouse in a fantastic location. Very friendly hosts. Superb gardens for an evening drink looking over the Bay. Dolphins arrived just as we were leaving!
Review 8:Internet a little challenging but mostly due to being an old home with thick walls
Review 9:Lovely farmhouse. Warm and welcoming host. Great breakfast. Recommend highly
Review 10:The door to our room could not be locked due to a fire exit door in the room. Carpet in the bathroom, not very hygienic in my eyes. Didn't like the Welsh breakfast, nicely presented but not to our taste. Room 5 needs a little Tlc.
Review 11:The surrounding views were spectacular.beautiful farmhouse Gorgeous inglenook fireplaces. Beautiful garden
Review 12:Unfortunately, the area has a lot of caravan parks and this impacts on one's ability to appreciate the pure beauty of the coast. The house is far enough away so that it's not in your face, but the nearby town, Barmouth, is very tourist-packed so you should plan activities that will take you away. (None of this the fault of the farmhouse--just a fact of life).
Review 13:The house is so interesting because of its age and architecture. The grounds are lovely and beautifully maintained. The owners have incorporated modern amenities without impinging on those beautiful and quirky angles, beams and stones. (Unfortunately, we did not get a room with shower and we like our showers!) The bed was very comfy and the linens crisp. The breakfasts were outstanding, the dinners, as we chose to book there, were good, the family owners very pleasant and helpful.
Review 14:Walls between our room and the adjoining room were very thin, with poor sound insulation. You could here most of went on in the adjoining room.
Review 15:Situated in a good position for the Barmouth coast. However you exit the property onto to a fast busy road.
Review 16:it is on top of a very steep and very unveven track - not great for some cars - and would have been nice to know beforehand that our room didn't have a key as it was part of the fire escape route
Review 17:it is a lovely very old farmhouse with gorgeous views from the garden - the host is lovely and the breakfast is very very nice
Review 18:Great twin room, comfortable & cozy! Lovely owners with great knowledge of local area and the history of the farm which dates back to 1500s. Amazing views from the property with a short (10 min) walk down to the beach and 30min walk to Barmouth so a great location. The breakfast was lovely too, plenty of choice and all of it was delicious! Also a very good base to explore the coast and mountains of North Wales, ideal for walkers!
Review 19:Poor heating system,No shower but hot tub provided Not enough hot water available for Bath, TV wasn't working or no Aerial-signal also breakfast wasn't that great either.
Review 20:Nothing at all
Review 21:Nothing at all We enjoyed everything about the place and the surrounding area
Review 22:The farmhouse is located up a steep path that gives fantastic views of the beaches A very old building, the farmhouse has amazing features Paula and Peter are a lovely couple and nothing is too much trouble - breakfast is a very substantial feast We ate in the evening too and the food was outstanding Evening sunsets rival anything I have seen anywhere
Review 23:We liked everything! Superb & varied food from a daily changing menu. Beautiful position overlooking the sea. Lovely atmosphere, really ancient beams, huge fireplaces and places to relax. Review 25:The location was beautiful and we were made to feel at home. Very friendly welcome with coffee & biscuits beside the lovely warm wood burner. The food was exceptional in fact the best we had ever tasted.
Review 26:A comfortable stay in a very old property. Paula was most helpful and eager to please. Food was very good. A very pleasant stay for a couple of nights. Would recommend to anyone if you can manage the stairs. Worth the trip.
Review 27:A friendly welcome of tea and biscuits and a wood burning stove giving out a good heat. Near to the sea but also an easy path over the hills to Barmouth. The little train station not far away enabled us to make the round trip.
Review 28:i would have liked a shower in the bathroom .but managed without for 2 days although i wouldnt if it had been longer .
Review 29:it had a lovely homely feel ,and the views were exceptional ,the owners were very friendly .and nothing was to much trouble .a nice walk into barmouth .

Review 31:the room was lovely the views were beautiful our hosts Paula was really friendly and when she smiled it lit up her face. Delightful people in a delightful setting. Thank you for making us feel so welcomed to your farmhouse.
Review 32:Mattress was terrible, could not sleep. Very lumpy. Might need to change it? But everything else was great for a b and b.
Review 33:Staff very welcoming. It's very clean. Great views. Good breakfast.
Review 34:The mattress on our bed!! It had seen better days, we felt the springs. No shower.
Review 35:The history of the place, and the atmosphere and ambience. The friendliness of the owner, with just the right level of interest. Great breakfasts. The views.
Review 36:Lovely bedroom with a sea view! Comfy bed in great quirky room - huge en suite with a bath. Great choice of food for breakfast. Paula and Peter great hosts - full of local information which was very helpful.
Review 37:Lovely 400 year old farm house full of character together with a most friendly and helpfull Paula. Great place to stay if you enjoy being active as lots of walks on your doorstep.
Review 38:Stayed for two nights in this lovely Tudor farmhouse. Breakfast was excellent and the rooms were clean, very comfortable, quiet and well equiped. The location is perfect with gardens,a sea view and within easy walking distance to Barmouth. We had one evening meal at the Farmhouse with excellent food and wine but you need to this book this in advance if you wish to eat on the evening you arrive. The restaurants in Barmouth soon get booked especially on a Friday and Saturday evening.
Review 39:Needs some TLC in the rooms when you are paying over £100 per night.
Review 40:Very oldie wooldie farmhouse with traditional features. Food was good especially breakfast.
Review 41:The entrance driveway, biscuits not being replaced in rooms after first night. Hot water tap very noisy. Poor lighting in bathroom. Evening meals a little expensive.
Review 42:Vey quite location, very good beds, excellent views. Warm welcome.Host was very knowledgable and helpful on local attractions. The atmosphere in the house was homely.
Review 43:Neither here or there. There was no beach to walk unless you go to Barmouth or Herlech. No shower.
Review 44:Characteristic building with beams and all. Great view from their garden overlooking the sea. Large bath was great for after hike. Dinner was lovely.
Review 45:Thoroughly enjoyable. Our host was wonderful, and breakfast was delicious. Close to everything while enjoying the peaceful, rural atmosphere. A credit to the owners. Afternoon tea in the garden on arrival, looking out over the water, was heaven.
Review 46:We had a short break of two days for peace and quiet which is exactly what we got. Lovely welcome. We were shown to our room and invited for a cup of tea in the main farmhouse which had loads of character. Fantastic views. Breakfast was fantastic, so much to choose from. Would definitely go again.
Review 47:Rather long wait for breakfast.
Review 48:Quirky old property with history. View of the sea. Tasty, high quality cooked breakfast. Excellent coffee. Evening meal option.
Review 49:The only issue my husband had was hitting his head on the light fixture. Then again he's 6'2 lol!
Review 50:The characteristics of the room was my favorite. Also the bathroom was spacious.
Review 51:This is undoubtably a beautiful spot, but the first impression isn'tgreat - an unkempt driveway full of potholes (which we punctured ourtyre on!). The house itself is a very old farmhouse and, with the thickwalls, was very cool in the warm weather, but it meant that it'salso extremely loud - we could hear conversations in the next room, thedining room below and the owners rooms above us! There was no shower inthe room, which was really disappointing and the most uncomfortable, oldmattress I have ever 'slept' on - all of which led to a verypoor night's sleep. The ambiance isn't particularly warm and wehad to leave early due to family emergency and there was no offer ofpaying even slightly less (as we would miss breakfast) - I understandit's a business and they probably wouldn't fill our room at latenotice, but I work in hospitality and this wasn't very hospitable! The only redeeming feature was excellent quality ingredients used forbreakfast, but without any background noise it was a little awkward inthe dining room meaning the whole experience wasn't, unfortunately,"excellent". I am used to, and prefer, more modern amenities,so this isn't for me, but might appeal to some.
Review 52:A truly authentic 16th century farmhouse in delightful setting surrounded by mountains, fields and dry stone walls. Even though we are pensioners we were able to enjoy leisurely walks into Barmouth. Beautifully clean and comfortable with first class quality breakfasts that were something to look forward to each morning. Would love to stay there again.
Review 53:no shower in our bathroom--perhaps there were in other rooms it is also a very old house and perhaps just not feasible to put showers in.
Review 54:the location and house were really beautiful. Breakfast was excellent as was dinner.

Review 103:The cost of the drinks - too expensive,
Review 104:The owners were very friendly and full of information about the area. What ever you asked for it was not a problem. We had an evening meal which was very delicious although a little expensive,
Review 105:Relaxed, friendly and quiet . The ideal place to get away from the other holiday makers yet close enough to get to local attractions.Garden is a lovely place to sit and look out to sea. Meals to a high standard and a breakfast that was prepared to order.
Review 106:Slightly too far out of barmouth. On the booking website it said 0.4 miles out of barmouth centre, however on arrival we found it was 2 miles out of barmouth and local taxi service were not very good, this made it difficult for us to enjoy the centre of barmouth at an evening without worrying about getting back to farmhouse.
Review 107:There was not anything you could dislike to be honest. I wanted to stay in 15th centry farm house and thats what we got.
Review 108:The owners Paula & Peter are very friendly couple. The farm house is amazing for a 15th century building. Even had the slopping floors in our bedroom due to its age. We stayed in the main house with views out the window of the coast line stretching out towards Porthmadog. Very homely and everything you would exspect from this type property. Thanks i am sury will be visiting again soon.
Review 109:Being two miles away from barmouth and up a very poor steep lane
Review 110:The hosts were v pleasant and the place was comfortable
