Reviews for B&B Hôtel Lille Centre Grand Palais
Review 1:Nothing.
Review 2:Staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English. Hotel well located, room was comfy and clean. Underground car park was very secure. Excellent value for money.
Review 3:Morning cleaners didn't seem to understand 'Do not disturb' sign. It was 11 am, so no drama, just a bit irritating. By day 5 we were fed up with walking into town. Wish we'd hired VeloLille bikes earlier.
Review 4:Reception was staffed 24/7 with helpful and friendly people. Breakfast didn't look that appetising from the advertising, but was a pleasant surprise.
Review 5:Wet room meant that bathroom floor was uncomfortable after showering . Fan stayed on all the time . Outlook was a narrow window onto a small unkempt area of garden .
Review 6:Lille is a nice place to visit , it was a good 20 minutes walk from accommodation , in the dark through back streets . Good breakfast for 6 euros .Secure parking 6 euros .
Review 7:Place was very small and not very clean. Shower had mold around the bottom, pipes under the sink which were easily visible were filthy, floor in bathroom needed to be cleaned, liquid soap dispenser in shower was broken. Corners of walls were chipped. Staff forgot to provide WiFi code and no phone in room meant going downstairs again. Overall, pretty rough shape.
Review 8:Price and only a 15-20 minute walk to the train station.
Review 9:No complaints.
Review 10:Nice hotel with very reasonable price. Breakfast was good and, surprisingly, also the wireless network worked really well - better than in many 4-stars hotels!
Review 11:arrived at midnight, could not call taxi and could not find hotel at firstly as not so many people heard it
Review 12:clean room,ok for travelling alone,25min walking from train station
Review 13:They claimec that Booking.com reservation had not reachex the, were unwilling to view my iphone message. Pre-reserved and confirmed room at lower rate was charged at higher rate. I mentioned my dairy-free diet at breakfast, but there was nothing possible, not even a boiled egg! I could only eat dry bread and jam. We requested two twins but were placed in two doubles.
Review 14:Clean, comfortable rooms
Review 15:Just a bit far from the centre of Lille and you have to walk through quite an unpleasant housing developement. Was quite daunting at night with groups of youths hanging around street corners. Would suggest taxi into the city centre if travelling alone or a couple.
Review 16:Hotel was very quiet and very clean with very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 17:Tiny rooms with tiny windows which are covered with hanging plants full of mosquitos, which let in very little light. Located in a run-down residential area a long way from the centre of Lille. Could not have stayed more than one night as there is nowhere for hanging clothes. l
Review 18:Breakfast was OK
Review 19:Not enough hanging space. Would have liked some fruit as option at breakfast
Review 20:Microwaveable food option Hot drink facility Late afternoon check out option for 20 euros
Review 21:there are no coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 22:my room was very clean, and quiet, and as a solo female traveler i would recommend this hotel to others in need of the same.
Review 23:I came with a wheelchair. the room was nice but the path around the bed was so small that the the wheelchair could not stand next to the bed. the only place in the room where could park my wheelchair was before the door to the badroom. it made it a bit difficult to move.
Review 24:the bed was nice. WIFI
Review 25:Accommodation was very basic, with bars at windows, felt like a prison cell, even though it was good value, a bit of personality would have been good. Bed was very hard. Wifi kept disconnecting so u had to keep signing in. Breakfast staff totally miserable.
Review 26:Reception staff very friendly, good breakfast. Cheap so good value for money.
Review 27:good location for 20 min walk into Lille old town and very nice it is Helpful staff and decent fresh cooked breakfast very good value for money Would recommend it also on 15 mins to 20 mins walk from Eurostar station
Review 28:We arrived quite late and all free car park spaces outside were taken so we had to pay for their "secure" car park that didn't feel very secure at all. While the former wasn't hotel's fault, the latter should have been improved by replacing missing bars in window openings - potential risk of thieves accessing the car park area and escaping into bushes.
Review 29:Cleanliness, location and acceptable price. Underground car park was handy but costs €6 per night. Vending machines on site if you're hungry. Late check in was a reason why we booked it.
Review 30:Not really in the center... No toilet brush. No soap, shampoos etc, only universal gel in the shower cabin. No shower caddy to put your bathroom supplies, and the shower curtain is a bit shorter than must be, so water leaks down the bathroom floor. There's no face towels - only 1 floor towel for the bathroom and a big towel for each person. We had a room with highway view. No air conditioner, just thermostat, which worked badly. That wasn't very nice of it, because window could be opened only for 10 cm. For the internet access you need to enter a password and your e-mail every time. As for me - never again.
Review 31:Clean and tidy room, 24 hour reception, not far from the historical center.
Review 32:Although the room is advertised as sound-proofed, you can hear too well whatever happens outside or in the corridor.
Review 33:The room was very clean and comfortable. It had all the necessities for a one night stay (except a hair-dryer)
Review 34:Room was very small but functional
Review 35:Within walking distance to town. Clean, friendly staff and decent breakfast for just 6 Euros. Onsite parking. Recommended
Review 36:Room had a bad smell from cigarets. Next door guests had music on until 1:00 am. They have been shouting and smoking drugs which we could smell too. We did not feel safe.
Review 37:Room smelt very smokey as windows can be opened so presume others smoke out of them, no security boxes or safe in room for valuables, location a little way out & have to walk through a rather dodgey estate to/from metro. If you need a taxi anywhere you will have a wait of at least 20 mins with a 7 euro supplement.
Review 38:Good sized quad room, got what we paid for, allowed to check in at 10am
Review 39:There's a lot not to like about our room. First, the temperature control was not active, as they only have truly centralized heat/air. The air was not yet turned on, as they were still on winter cycle. Our room was uncomfortably hot with no way to cool it down, which made it a long sleepless night. Despite the hotel's name, it was far from the center of Lille with limited food options nearby.
Review 40:The room was reasonably priced and breakfast was great.
Review 41:Air conditioner doesn't work well. Room is hot. Most people stayed almost five days there for a conference at that moment, but breakfast are all the same everyday.
Review 42:Bed is comfortable. Room is clean except for the first two days there are weird smell from the toilet but they fix it later.
Review 43:Better change the toilet paper...
Review 44:Very simple yet comfortable. More like a good hostel with private rooms than a simple hotel, but otherwise very good, friendly staff, very clean, excellent free wifi, reasonable location, great price.
Review 45:Window opened into inside corridor. Somewhat stuffy and occasionally echoing noise.
Review 46:Very clean. Nice staff. Great breakfast for 6 euro. Incredible deal. Nice walk to center through several different routes.
Review 47:Small room and bathroom and very hard bed (relatively thin mattress with wooden planks underneath). Asked for featherless pillows as I'm allergic and no alternative.
Review 48:Free wifi and 6 euro parking for 24 hours (you can leave and return as often as you like). Nice to have a TV and good breakfast of hot croissants/ Breads/coffee etc for only 6 euro. Definitely functional for a night or two. Good location to city centre (20 min strraight(ish) walk).
Review 49:Happy with everything!
Review 50:Clean, modern hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Good 'all you can eat' breakfast. Very quiet room at the front, not troubled by any noise.
Review 51:Not much in the neighborhood ... and difficulty finding anything after 10:30 pm because of the neighborhood.. but then again, it close from the center .
Review 52:nice placement , very close from Train Station, and subway.
Review 53:- no hand towels in the room - hair dryer only on demand - no toillet products whatsoever - no decoration in the room - noise from highway when window open - general feeling of impersonal atmosphere
Review 54:the recepcionist when we arrived was very helpful.
Review 55:Nothing
Review 56:Close to Eurorail station & centre of city. Wonderful staff went out of their way to help with any enquiry. Room on the small size but we knew that at time of booking. Good, fresh breakfast. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Good value for money.
Review 57:Easy to find, we used the hotel as an overnighter, so we could get to the eurotunnel early the next day. Location is not prime, but its not too far to walk or catch a bus to get to the Metro or restaurant. Well priced, comfortable and clean with safe and convenient on Site underground parking.
Review 58:The bed wasn't comfortable and you can hear everything outside the room when they are cleaning in the morning
Review 59:The location was good and for 1 night it was ok
Review 60:The bed is a little hard
Review 61:Incredibly clean hotel, the room and corridors always smell so fresh. The shower is fantastic. Parked on street for free, I felt that the area was very safe and felt very comfortable walking back at night. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Review 62:The bed is too hard.
Review 63:Nice and clean hotel with decent wifi. The breakfast is ok and the location is out of the city center. But since it's a small city and with the busstop closeby this is no big deal.
Review 64:Bit of a walk to centre of town, however a brisk walk and you can be there in 20 minutes.
Review 65:Location of hotel .Our room very quiet.Clean and tidy. Exceptional value for money. Would recommend for weekend from the UK, especially in December. A stylish city with lovely buildings, shops and restaurants. Also managed a visit to Ypres.
Review 66:Ver busy at breakfast - area too small to cater for this. Not a deal breaker though.
Review 67:20 min walk to Lille centre. Breakfast is well worth the money. Free parking on street outside. Very helpful staff who spoke English.
Review 68:Not quite enough room for very busy breakfast time at 10am on a Sunday!!
Review 69:Clean tidy room, plain but serviceable. Good shower, quiet. Easy parking, friendly check in.
Review 70:Easy access into the city centre (metro or taxi) but still outside the hustle and bustle of busy Lille. Good value for money. No frills but clean and correct place to stay. Super friendly and accommodating staff! Great hotel parking at reasonable price.
Review 71:When I sat down the bed puffed up so much think dust it had formed into clumps. I patted it down and carried on my day, but when I woke in the morning I had huge bites the size of a £ coin all over me, which lasted for around 10 days. Very itchy and painful.
Review 72:Everything looked fine and I was quite happy, until I got on the bed.
Review 73:Bed wasn't very comfortable
Review 74:Very helpful and friendly staff. Shower is amazing! Tidy room. Hotel is a bit away from the main centre but still only 5 minutes walk to metro or 20 minutes walk to Grand Place. Wifi works well.
Review 75:Suffered a little from noise from people returning to their rooms late but that was more down to the people not the hotel.
Review 76:Checking in was easy and the quadruple room was ideal for our family. The optional breakfast was good with plenty to choose from. The secure car park is useful being in a city but does cost 6 Euros per day.
Review 77:A stunning view of the motorway, an extremely hard and uncomfortable bed and a dark, dingy room didn't lead us to a great stay. It's about a twenty minute walk out of the centre of town and not in a great part of the city. It's okay for a night, or two at a push, but that's all.
Review 78:The guy on the front desk was pleasant and spoke great english, and was extremely patient with my poor attempt at French. There was a double bed and a TV.
Review 79:No drinks facilities in the room - no kettle coffee/tea etc. Howeverthere is a vending machine in reception and you can take food and drinkback to rooms.
Review 80:Friendly helpful staff (went out of their way to help and support whenmy daughter had an accident -took us to hospital themselves). Willingto talk in English, put calls through for food orders (can eat inrooms or common area) and taxis. Helped explain the Zap ticket system(best buy) for use on metro and buses. Hotel cleaner than most inEngland. Breakfast ample but nothing special. Variety of French breadsand pastries, cereal, yoghurt and bacon and scrambled eggs. Eggs werevery good. Close enough to Metro (5 min walk) 20 min walk to town.Metro machines don't like crisp new Euro notes. Use change or yourcard. Well signposted and car park on two floors if you need. Wouldvisit again and will definitely use this chain again when nextvisiting France. A review I read before said it was better than Travellodge but not quite Premier Inn. Apt description, but room laid outbetter with half dividing wall between double and twin sections offamily room. Shower and toilet with sink - no bath. Lifts to rooms.Any take away food deliveries are literally brought to the door.Keypad lock for security.
Review 81:Not much to dislike, given the price.
Review 82:Family room layout gave a bit of privacy with a part wall in the middle; Staff at check-in was very helpful, giving ideas of places to eat (although we ended up picking a random bistro); A few minutes' walk to the metro, just two stops to the centre. We walked back, taking about 15-20 minutes.
Review 83:When we arrived we were given a room that obviously the previous tenants were heavy smokers. Even the airco was at full when we entered. The staff explained how smoking is not allowed anywhere but finally gave us a new room.
Review 84:Nice, modern hotel and very nice breakfast. Loved the warm croissants!
Review 85:The room was small, but the size dimensions were stated. No shared lounge area and limited outdoor area.
Review 86:All of the staff went out of their way to help me with my questions, despite me limited French. The B&B was modern and very clean. The bed was comfy.
Review 87:Way away from anything we wanted to see or do. Didn't feel comfortable walking in the neighborhood at night,
Review 88:the hotel allowed me to rebook after a medical emergency forced me to cancel my original reservation. I'm very appreciative. The price was good
Review 89:Basic but very comfortable. Friendly welcome Annoying having to register for wifi but it did work well. A little way from centre but metro very close and only 2 stops away. All in all excellent vfm
Review 90:Room is very small and basic for the price paid, Location..... certainly not Lille Centre in my opinion, States 5 min walk from Grand Palais Metro probably yes if you are named Usain Bolt nearer 10 to 15 mins walk.... breakfast was very, very basic bacon and eggs luke warm.
Review 91:Friendly staff
Review 92:The malfunctioning room climate control. From what I can remember thewifi didn't work for a day or so ?
Review 93:Cleanliness. Tv with several programmes in English and a bbc channel. The location was easy to find this time around because I was alreadyaware of the hotel region in Lille which I found hard to find my firsttime around but is easy to remember at least. I like the local shops andsushi place, they're cheap and make staying there worthwhile becausenot too much money is spent on food. Also the Euralille center with amassive Carrefour (selling fresh sushi daily) is amazing too but alittle bit of a walk if you're a tired traveller (probably best togo there before going to the hotel if your bags aren't too heavy, but try to avoid the busy afternoon times).
Review 94:The location is a bit out of town, but the staff are prepared to help you with your trip to the city!
Review 95:The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were immaculate and all the extras functioned well (tv, wifi) breakfast was yummy with a great range.
Review 96:Only good for one night.
Review 97:This is ideal for a overnight stop over. Not near the centre with no bars or eating places nearby. would recommend paying for car parking, Wi-Fi was great as was breakfast not bad for €6.Family room had a double and 2 singles (not put up bed)
Review 98:Not too far from metro station, but still not in the best location. Area around the hotel isn't unpleasant but isn't particularly interesting or pretty. There were often small gangs of teenage boys looking up to no good on the street that lead to the metro.
Review 99:Hotel was clean, staff were friendly, breakfast was good and the wifi access was great.
Review 100:Parking was a bit over priced for location of hotel. Didn't seem to be any shops close by so a bar would be good
Review 101:Friendly and helpful staff on check in.
Review 102:it was hard to find. the walk into Lille itself was quite a distance.
Review 103:It was in a quiet area, the rooms where basic but very clean. the breakfast is good value for money, plenty to eat and good choices. the staff were very helpful.
Review 104:maybe further away from citing than expected but walking distance to center, more than compensated with excellent metro system and stop is close by to B&B.
Review 105:The rooms are very small. Double bed on one side was pushed up against the wall. Also very little natural light in the room. There was a sort of terrace for each room but unable to get onto it. The breakfast room also seemed too small for the number of hotel guests, very crowded in the morning.
Review 106:Well located, not too far from the city centre in a nice neighbourhood. Clean rooms. Friendly staff.
Review 107:Came with my family and we all got bitten sleeping. Suspecting bed bugs in the beds. Made the reception lady aware. My girls have their whole body bitten.
Review 108:Friendly staff, good location to town centre and attractions.
Review 109:No coffee/tea facilities in room. No room safe.
Review 110:Third layer of glazing about 30cm from wall with external window, kept out noise from dual carriageway very well.
Review 111:Not the hotels fault but the hotels/pus with meals in the area closed on the Saturday. No worries on the Friday though.
Review 112:Reasonable price for breakfast. Secure parking Value for money
Review 113:Very basic accommodation. No Tea or Coffee making facilities in the room (these were available at cost from a vending machine in reception). Area questionable - parking available beneath the hotel although this could be accessed easily from outside due to may holes in the wall to the rear. Breakfast was cheap (6e for adult 3e for under 12s) but was basic.
Review 114:Well located just outside Lille centre. Rooms good size.
Review 115:The hotel is not near the town. It's at least a 15min walk. The additional €6 charge for parking is a bit tight especially in a hotel targeted at travellers.
Review 116:The room was clean and very comfortable. Free wifi and a decent shower made it a good stay. It was a secure hotel, and did what we needed.
Review 117:Rooms fairly sized for the price but cosy... not a destination hotel - think more a base to see Lille or as a stop-off while travelling.
Review 118:Excellent staff, straightforward check-in. Tasty and inexpensive breakfast. Bright rooms.
Review 119:They advertise 24 hour food options that include salads and sandwiches - not true as they don't actually have them in this hotel. When asked about it, the member of staff on duty sent us to a local takeaway place......that was closed! So we went hungry that night.
Review 120:Basic without costing the earth - you mostly get what you pay, or don't pay, for.
Review 121:Price! Location - a little out of town but perfect as we were driving Did the job for a few nights, clean, staff friendly & helpful and buffet breakfast very reasonable.
Review 122:Location however gift used to the walk from the main centre, yes the metro was close but we didn't use it
Review 123:Staff support and help in looking after bags when we left.
Review 124:At arrival the staff at night shift was new and did a mistake with our booking. He took the money twice. Next morning we wanted to pay for the secure parking and the lady realised the mistake, cleared it or refunded it and gave us free parking for the whole stay (weekend). Everything thing else was very good, nice atmosphere, bright, clean. We didn't have the breakfast, therefore can't comment on that.
Review 125:Maybe a bit far from the city centre (20min walk).
Review 126:Spacious triple room, friendly staff.
Review 127:Short shower curtain caused very soggy bathroom
Review 128:Parking
Review 129:far from the center
Review 130:Cleanliness
Review 131:No hair dryer in room
Review 132:Very comfortable bed......room very clean
Review 133:Quality of the bed is terrible. Rooms smell of sigarettes and weed.
Review 134:Price is good
Review 135:simple, easy going , effective approach
Review 136:comfortable beds, excellent shower
Review 137:smell in the bathroom...
Review 138:room, wifi, parking and staff
