Reviews for Camping Tamaris

Review 1:* Private establishments in France can allow guests to wear whatever they wish in their pools. Camping Tamaris lied and said the law applies to them, and would not let me and my two young sons wear our casual swim trunks. The French law requiring swim briefs or boxers applies only to public/municipal pools, but I only learned this after buying expensive new and uncomfortable swim garments. Jacket required restaurants supply jackets . . . this place should have comp'ed the speedos. * Booking.com doesn't mention that sheets and towels are not included! * WiFi was expensive, didn't beat dial-up speed, was virtually unusable anywhere far from the front office. * Staff led us in our car to our chalet upon arrival, and then when I asked for the key at the door they said it's back at reception. A ridiculous run around and waste of time after driving for hours to get there. * The chalet was infested with ants, and we also found a roach in the fridge door gasket. Where there's one . . . * Chalets have no A/C, but you can rent a portable unit if you catch the vendor on the right day and time. If you miss him Saturday morning (which is before the usual Saturday afternoon checkin) you'll need to wait two hot nights until Monday. * The Carrefour near Perpignan sells fans * During our visit a circus, Cirque Muller, was camped next door with exotic animals kept in hot, cramped quarters for tourists to gawk at. They brought some of the poor and more docile beasts inside Camping Tamaris to attract the kids. * Only three power outlets were available at standard floor height in the 2-bedroom chalet * Loud, poorly played live and DJ music spilled over the wall from the neighboring site until 12 midnight, every night. * Once again, this place forced me to wear a skin-tight swim brief, telling me it was the law and they had no choice about it. This was culturally shocking, unnecessary, and deceitful.

Review 2:* Nice pool * Food and beverage staff were wonderful * Sundries shop was very pleasant, and well staffed * Pizza and snack restaurant was excellent, good fresh made pizzas, salads, and other hot dishes * Le Barcares is a beautiful seaside town with lots to do for everyone! Leaving the campground was a pleasure to go visit the attractions there
