Reviews for The Beechwood Guest House
Review 1:Excellent location for the airport. Close to locall shops, bars etc.Very clean and very helpful. Didn't have breakfast as we had an early check in - but menu looked tasty. Dining room looked very clean and inviting. Room was basic but all we needed for a stopover. Would definitely use again.
Review 2:nothing
Review 3:Fantastic hotel at excellent value. Very high cleanliness standards, nice new decoration and comfy beds. Excellent service, hassle free check in and out, very friendly staff.
Review 4:Handy location, we travelled to Ayr by train so relied on buses which pass the guest house. Even though it is on the main road it is quiet. Beautifully carpeted throughout. I was with a friend and as we like our own rooms we had the two bed roomed suite with a shared bathroom on the second floor which was ideal for us. The hosts, David & Shona are lovely people who cannot do enough to make you feel welcome. Would highly recommend.
Review 5:Our small double bedroom was very comfortable and extremely clean. The dining room was lovely, nice decor and attention to detail and the breakfast was great.
Review 6:On the busy main road, so there was a bit of traffic noise.
Review 7:Really excellent facilities from all aspects - comfortable bed, very clean, and really friendly hosts. Less than £10 taxi to airport.
Review 8:Excellent place to stay lovely couple who run the hotel who could not do enough for you. Excellent breakfast, excellent facilities could not fault one bit
Review 9:On main road but had good double glazing .
Review 10:Lovely experience for a bnb, staff very welcoming and friendly. Will be back again and recommend to our friends.
Review 11:absolutely nothing to complain about!
Review 12:Despite our arrival very late and the fact we had to wake up very early next morning, Sharon was absolutely kind and helpful, not only by making as easy as possible our stay but also providing advice on how to get there. Its location near the airport (5min by taxi) was most convenient and there is a bus stop to Glasgow just a few meters down the road (5min walk). Moreover, the room was perfect. I really recomend the Beechwood Guest House!
Review 13:Quite close to Preswick airport, in the main Ayr road, but really quiet. Rooms were renovated to have a modern and warm look. Top floor rooms have a sea view.
Review 14:Room 1 was small with bed legs that could catch your toes due the gap between the twin beds being so narrow. There were three narrow steps down from the beds which at night should have been illuminated.
Review 15:The owners, cheerful, helpful and considerate. The breakfast and its choices were excellent Cleanest B& B we have ever stayed in Parking availability
Review 16:Price for breakfast with 2 small children works out very expensive.
Review 17:Great communication with regards to gaining access and keys. This place was litterally a bed for the night and it served its purpose.
Review 18:Our hosts were friendly and welcomed us with true Scottish hospitality.Nothing was too much trouble and they gave us great advice on local places to visit. We would definitely recommend The Beachwood Guest house to any travelers visiting Ayr.
Review 19:Very friendly welcome by the owner, also giving a lot of helpfully advice for the journey. Lovely room and delicious breakfast! An absolute recommendation for everybody staying in Ayr.

Review 22:Only 1 negative thing: When I take out my shoes and walking in the room in my sox a lot of hair and dust was in my sox.Need change the domestic cleaner team.
Review 23:Clean beds and bathroom, lovely room. Clean duvet and was nice smell everywhere.
Review 24:This guest house was fantastic. Group of friends staying for the night due to the Races, didn't expect much for £25 each. Could not fault the venue, staff were so friendly and welcoming. We where in the Arran Suite at the top and it was stunning, rooms and facilities were very clean.
Review 25:A bit confused about check out as no one was there. But sent an email right afterwards and got a fast reply.
Review 26:- superly clean - very good value for money - almost like a 5 star hotel - very quite - loved the chocolate biscuits and tea making facilities - flawless
Review 27:Excellent all round accommodation. Friendly and helpful hosts. We had a sea view of the Isle of Arran from our bedroom window. Completely faultless. We will be back next year.
Review 28:The warmest of welcomes, a really comfy night's sleep and a lovely fresh cooked breakfast.......and all at a realistic price. I look forward to staying again.

Review 32:The breakfast was excellent. Everywhere was beautifully clean and the owners were very friendly and helpful. It was one of the rare occasions where the property was much better in real life than even the photographs show on the website. Would definitely stay again.
Review 33:TV in room was v small for a large room

Review 36:There was nothing I disliked.
Review 37:It's nice to go somewhere personal after being in the hotel chains. The choice at breakfast was large and my daughter loved the pancakes.
Review 38:The beds were so uncomfortable! The blankets were nice and down, but the mattresses were SO HARD. It kind of felt like I was sleeping on the ground. This was the only bad thing about my experience here.
Review 39:I loved the room. It looked recently updated, and it was clean and welcoming. There were tea and packaged cookies available in the room upon our arrival. We got in late and getting in and settled was very easy due to good instructions given by staff.
Review 40:Lovely guest house; very comfortable, beautifully decorated, delicious breakfast! Very friendly. Will definitely return. You won't find any better.
Review 41:Lovely guest house close to New to on Ayr train station and not too far from the racecourse. Accommodation was very clean & the hosts were very helpful & friendly. Breakfast was very good with a selection of cereals & yoghurts & cooked breakfast too order.

Review 49:Wi-fi connection rather weak
Review 50:The place itself. Easy to find and well-lit at night. Check in via a text and a code. Beautifully presented accommodation. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. The owners are most welcoming and helpful; nothing is too much trouble. I would challenge anyone to find such a splendid place to stay anywhere for the price they charge.
Review 51:Everything, staff are excellent, cleanliness, breakfast, location. This is my favourite place to stay in Ayr, when visiting family. I always stay at the Beechwood; Shona & David are great.
Review 52:You would have to really search hard to find something to fault at this place. There is nothing I could find to complain about.
Review 53:Located close to Prestwick, this boutique hotel really ticks all the boxes. Comfortable beds, spotless rooms, en suite facilities with excellent showers, and a quiet, undisturbed atmosphere. The owners have got it bang on, exactly what you are looking for when working away from home.
Review 54:One little small thing key for our room door was hard to open and close
Review 55:David was a splendid host, very welcoming. Our room was a great size for the three of us and even better we didn't have to bring a travel cot as one was set up and provided for us arriving free of charge.bed was really comfy and room was cosy.we opted for breakfast and it was a great menu cooked from fresh and eating area was beautiful and lounge area was lovely
Review 56:Only stayed one night :(
Review 57:The owners were lovely people. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The breakfast was amazing, excellent choice and range of good, fresh produce. Recommend.
Review 58:One of the best we have stayed in, fabulous use of space in family room for us and lovely quality of furnishings. Food excellent at breakfast. In all couldn't do enough for us even with texts. Will use again when travelling too or from Prestwick Airport. A+
Review 59:Slight noise from the road but only on the Monday morning which I expect was commuter traffic, this is out of anyone's control, wouldn't deter us from staying here again.
Review 60:Friendly welcome, very attentive, nothing was too much trouble, we only had to ask, cleanliness was spot on! Would definitely stay again if we are planning to travel that way again.
Review 61:I requested a late check-in, and was given detailed instructions. On the day I was leaving, the instructions were texted to my mobile phone as a reminder. The location is just a 5 minutes' walk from Newton-on-Ayr train station (2 stops from Prestwick airport). The place is lovely and clean, the coffee/tea set in the room also included some kit-kat bars (nice when arriving late at night, after a long journey). We had a very good and varied continental breakfast. The owners were extremely kind and smiling. 100% positive.
Review 62:The room we stayed in was on the very top floor of the house with a very narrow staircase leading up to it making carrying a car seat upstairs difficult but not impossible.
Review 63:The Beechwood Guest House was fab - lovely staff and generous sized room. We had our 10 week old daughter staying with us and a travel cot was provided. Didn't have the breakfast as we were visiting family and eating with them but it smelled yummy!
Review 64:Nothing not to like
Review 65:Our room was at the back so was very quiet and peaceful. Beds were extremely comfy and staff were helpful in pointing out a great place to eat.
Review 66:The wifi doesn't reach into the rooms. The road is very busy. But both are minor complaints because all the rest is fantastic!
Review 67:The staff/owners couple is great. The interior and rooms are great. Breakfast was great.
Review 68:Having to leave.
Review 69:Shona and David were excellent hosts. We booked in early as we were going to a wedding. Very comfortable rooms. Breakfast lovely. Plenty to eat and great choice of both hot and cold.
Review 70:None
Review 71:Shona and David have been very friendly and the breakfast was very good. The location is lovely and David even asked where we going further and provided various routes/tips to cover the journey better.
Review 72:The less than excellent selection of music played during breakfast.A selection of old fashioned Scottish hogmanay songs which left me losing the will to live after about 10 minutes !
Review 73:The excellent breakfast.
Review 74:Nothing
Review 75:I got to the B&B late at night, after landing in Glasgow Prestwick. I took a taxi from the airport, just £ 7.5. I found everything convenient : a code to get into the building late, an envelope on a table in the hall with the key to the room and useful advise and suggestions. The room was small but comfortable. The next morning, I could meet the owners, really nice people.Breakfast was lovely. If you must spend time in Ayr or Prestwick, go there, it worths a night!
Review 76:We missed the chance to say 'thanks and goodbye'
Review 77:the location of Beechwood is ideal between Ayr and Prestwick. We were flying from Prestwick Airport and Ayr has a lot to do and see to fill in the time. Beechwood has good service and good food, it is clean and well run. Breakfast was very good with one of us having the standard and one on vegetarian both were happy.
Review 78:The stairs to the sleeping area were ill-defined. Otherwise, all was good!
Review 79:The place was clean and the shower worked great--wonderful after a 27+ hour trip from the states. They gave a wonderful recommendation for dinner and Tesco for snack and a phone. Breakfast was fantastic!
Review 80:Under the "Special Request" section on the booking form (online) I asked if it would be possible to have a quiet room. This was due to the fact that I am a very light sleeper. Unfortunately my room faced onto the street which was a busy thoroughfare. This contributed to a poor nights sleep.
Review 81:Friendly staff, very nice facilities/amenities, excellent breakfast service and a central location.
Review 82:not even offered to book breakfast. i had not realised the fee was for room only but the man promptly told me that it was `room only` so i did not need to know where the breakfast room was. The sheets and pillows did not smell fresh, the towels did not smell fresh, the toilet smelled, the shampoo holder in the shower was rusty, the dust behind the heater in the bathroom was thick and the table lamp was grubby. Sorry i was extremely unhappy with the standard.
Review 83:the location was near work, and that was all that was good about this
Review 84:Unfortunately due to late flight and commitments the following day our visit was simply an overnight stay without luxury of breakfast. Despite arriving at around 11·15 everything was put in place for us to feel welcome- arrangements for late arrival text to phone and room very cosy with lights on ready. A lovely room. Thank you
Review 85:My family rooms was very well set out with proper single beds for the older children. Very comfortable and very clean. Parking was also available to me on the forecourt. I would Highly recommend this Guest House. Thank you.
Review 86:The rooms were cold but we were experiencing a storm which was unusual as the weather had been recently warm and sunny.. so heating had not been switched on.
Review 87:The rooms were really nice and the breakfast was great. Very friendly staff made very welcome.
Review 88:Clean, spacious family room, comfortable beds, good location, not far from the train station. Had a very short stay but did enjoy it. Would highly recommend!
Review 89:No one complaint.
Review 90:The room we had was excellent, there was three beds in it and they were so comfortable and placed well in the room so it did not feel to crowded.
Review 91:The bathroom floor was a little noisy with creaking floorboards, the milk in the little cartons in the room seemed to taste funny so a nice brew had to wait until breakfast .
Review 92:Great location close to local bars restaurants ,on the main bus route for easy access to shops and attractions . Lovely staff who can't do enough for you.The room was clean comfortable and had all we needed.Breakfast was cooked to perfection and filled us up all day .
Review 93:Breakfast could have been a little more plentiful
Review 94:Location is excellent for those visiting the tennis at Wimbledon. Very short stay but would stay again
Review 95:Bed Settee in our economy room only used for watching an hour of TV, very uncomfortable despite duvets underneath to try and make seats softer - but we didn't need to use it much
Review 96:Excellent breakfast with good quality products e.g. bacon-little fat Very close to railway station Newton on Ayr- handy for train to Glasgow Helpful owners
Review 97:We were chased for money on leaving the property and when we explained we paid we were then told we had to pay another £10 - fair dos we checked out late but we were snippily told that it's justified because we got a cheap room rate and that's because they keep staffing costs down -
Review 98:Cheap price The fact you could have 3 beds in 1 room
Review 99:The b&b is on a main road and unfortunately I was woken up very early throughout my stay by traffic and the bin collectors.
Review 100:For a couple the room was spacious. I give top marks for cleanliness throughout the b&b and the decoration was pleasant. The facilities were fantastic, we had everything we needed.
Review 101:Felt slightly weird not speaking to a single member of staff...met the owner (I think) on the way out!
Review 102:Location- distance to airport. Nice for walk into Ayr for food and drinks. Room was well decorated and the self check in allowed us to arrive any time from 12pm.
Review 103:Wifi signal in the room we were in was so weak it was non-existent. Not a big problem though for us as we didn't really need to use it.
Review 104:Good location. Not a particularly nice part of Ayr but really handy for the main roads, and easy for us to get to and from the Racecourse where we were attending an event. Lovely cooked breakfast (I also had a delicious plate of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs one morning!) & comfortable room for ourselves and our 2 children. Staff we're really friendly and approachable. Nothing was too much bother and we were made to feel v welcome.
Review 105:Nothing all good perfect
Review 106:Clean tidy lovely staff comfy bed pillows and quilt all heated to come in from the cold
Review 107:Clean,friendly. Cooked breakfast was very good and good quality.
Review 108:Was not cheap but still wanted another £5.99 for breakfast !!!
Review 109:Hotel was clean and the owners very pleasant.
Review 110:The staff
Review 111:All of it
Review 112:Everything, very clean, excellent value for money and owners so helpful, would recommend to anyone

Review 116:Shower bracket was loose and very low water pressure
Review 117:Very friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms, fantastic breakfast
