Reviews for Hotel du Lac

Review 1:corridor a little dark

Review 2:spacious comfortable room, good breakfast in very attractive dining room (love the ceiling!), friendly staff, convenient location

Review 3:Upkeep has not really been maintained in the past years. We've been coming here since 2009, too little has changed.

Review 4:closeness to village and swimming pool.

Review 5:No tea/coffee facilities in room no Restaurant Breakfast too expensive at 13 euros each Would have preferred a quilt on bed instead of blankets hotel overall a little tired and dated

Review 6:Location, cleanliness and pool

Review 7:Hotel very very run down... Needs a make over. Room not pleasent, bed uncomfortable. Stayed at Le Lac 10 years ago and loved it - was such a shame coming back to see the hotel has gone so far down hill. The change to having no restaurant is inconvenient as no breakfast buffet. A lost gem.

Review 8:Location and staff

Review 9:Oh where to start? Toilet disgusting! Floor more comfortable than the bed. Rooms outdated and minimal - no shower door so water goes everywhere on the tiles, creating a slipping hazard. Photos on website show the 'best room' ;-) don't go on the judgement of those. Generally one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in! Paid to stay in another hotel on the last night as we didn't want to leave Talloires feeling so disappointed.

Review 10:The location

Review 11:There wasn't anything I didn't like other than the price of breakfast at 13 Euros per person. I thought that was expensive and so we chose to buy stuff and have it on our balcony. There are also cafe options nearby.

Review 12:The location is excellent situated in the middle of Talloires within easy reach of bars, restaurants, the beach and port. The pool was a great bonus, it was clean and big enough to get a bit of a swim in. It also meant there was somewhere to chill out. As observed in other reviews the rooms are straightforward but we were happy with ours and had a small balcony that we could sit out on as a family in the mornings and the evenings.

Review 13:A restaurant would've been nice although very good food very close by.

Review 14:Staff helpful and friendly. Very clean if not a little tired so therefore staff are doing a good job. Views, pool . Relaxing .

Review 15:Shame there is no evening food option at the hotel at all, not even snacks. There are plenty of good restaurants within10 minutes walk but sometimes it's nice just to chill in the hotel after a busy day. Staff will willingly bring you a drink in the garden but it's not the same atmosphere as a bar.

Review 16:I have to take issue with people carping about outdated decor etc - it's a 3 star hotel! There are 4 and 5 star options locally if that's what you want. Our room was a good size with a little balcony overlooking the lake and was cleaned every day. Breakfast offered a good choice. The pool is a real bonus as the public beach is very busy in Summer. Very accommodating for cyclists with a garage for bikes. I'd go back.

Review 17:Disappointed that the hotel didn't operate a restaurant and had no bar, although the reception staff provided a very efficient drinks service to the lounge, garden and pool area.

Review 18:The hotel sits in the centre of Taillore with lakeside park, small harbour and several restaurants. The views of the mountains and lake are wonderful.

Review 19:The impression when you first arrive is that the place feels a bit tired - needs some re-decoration and smartening up, especially the corridors, bedrooms and beds. But I found the bed extremely comfortable. It seemed quite expensive for a 3 star hotel of that quality, but we realised that the prices are just genuinely quite high in this area for places near the lake.

Review 20:Really nice location in a beautiful village setting. Although there were many of us tourists around Talloires feels like and is a lived-in village. Le Lac is a short walk from the lake, with a reasonably sized swimming pool (comfortable recliners around it) just outside the spacious reception and breakfast area. The restaurant was closed while we were there, but there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Really good places to walk from Talloires itself, or take a short drive into the hills/mountains nearby. You can hire canoes, take a trip on the lake, and Annecy is only 20 minutes drive away - an historic town with lots of points of interest, good shopping, etc.

Review 21:No shower, bath with shower head, but wouldn't put us off returning.

Review 22:Warm and friendly welcome. Quiet, clean and spacious room with a wonderful view of the mountains. The pool area was very relaxing with plenty of sun beds and a lovely lake view. Good breakfast buffet with lots of choice. Location was very central with short walk to the lake front or restaurants.

Review 23:The furniture is a little bit old but clean and comfortable.

Review 24:The place is very nice and very clean the rooms have a lot of space not tite, the staff are so friendly and nice and the location is great. Overall the hotel is superior

Review 25:Room decor dated although v. Clean No cooked breakfast Despite this, because of location I would happily use this hotel again

Review 26:Location, Pool and privacy

Review 27:Slightly old-fashioned decor, expensive for the style of room (but it was the middle of summer and a last-minute booking). Breakfast not included and a bit expensive.

Review 28:Great location, helpful staff, great swimming pool, very clean, nice public areas.

Review 29:Skeleton staffing even at peak periods. No-one on reception after 11pm and no night porter/security. The receptionist gets drinks if asked nicely and restaurant closed.

Review 30:Great location and views. Brilliant pool.

Review 31:There were ants in our room and it was extremely noisy all night. You could hear the pool filter from our room and people were banging their doors until 2 o'clock in the morning. This place is run down. It looks like it used to be nice back in the day but the owners have been very bad with the upkeep. Amenities were at the very minimum... No mini fridge and no pen and paper. The whole place really needs some updating.

Review 32:Pool was clean and the garden is nice. Great location a block away from the lake and sheets and towels were replaced fresh everyday.

Review 33:Very outdated building with no shower curtain. Not enough plug points and Aircon would have been fantastic. Serious revamp needed!

Review 34:Good location in a lovely town. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 35:Lack of cooling during a heatwave. Overpriced breakfast which we didn't try due to cafes a stone throw away with 1/2 price breakfasts. Antique locks on the room door.

Review 36:Very large clean pool and great garden Large rooms

Review 37:no bad experience, all was perfect :)

Review 38:The hotel is clean and nice, staff is nice, breakfast is just excellent, rooms and bathrooms are spacious with nice views. We had the mountain view room - the view of the mountains was probably even better than the one facing the lake. Nice and clean outside pool overlooking the lake and mountains. Unlike Annecy, Talloires is more easy going and not so crowded. Nice restaurants just few steps away. Free parking in front of the hotel. WIFI worked without problems.

Review 39:Room had a strange smell till we opened the balcony doors - parking would get full by the time we returned every night! Breakfast could have more choice for the price?

Review 40:View from the room and the room size was spacious and good cupboard space - staff was v helpful -

Review 41:only thing i can come up with is , no restaurant in the hotel, but plenty of restaurants in the neighborhood .

Review 42:Big rooms, very friendly staff, parking at the hotel for free, every thing was cleaned every day, beds were made every day , breakfast in the morning, just everything was perfect.

Review 43:Unable to get wifi connection

Review 44:1.Location close to Lake 2. Good size room and bathroom 3. Very comfortable bed and pillows 4. Very clean 5. Good choice at breakfast 6. Excellent cafe/restaurant in village 7. Helpful receptionist

Review 45:Hotel needs completely updating. Bedroom was dull and dated like something out of the 80's only room for one side of bed to have a bedside table the other bedside table was on the adjacent wall along with a random drop leaf table. The 2 grubby looking chairs would have suited a doctors waiting room better. No bar or restaurant. Breakfast wasn't great either served orange squash as juice. Not worth the money would never go back.

Review 46:The location. The outside pool. Bathroom was clean.

Review 47:The lack of a teas made in the room, but we are English! A bar or somewhere to get a cup of tea in the afternoon would be nice, but the hotel was really nice.

Review 48:The pool. It made a feature to sit round. The breakfasts were good. The view from our room was stunning and the beds really comfortable. Everyone in the hotel was amiable and friendly.

Review 49:Room was very basic - typical old fashioned French Hotel. No tea/ coffee making facilities; decor needed an update

Review 50:Location; lovely pool; view of the lake; room spacious

Review 51:Breakfast is too expensive! if we look on room price than it is expensive but if you look of the overall atmosphere than i find it reasonable

Review 52:The concept, swimming pool, location, atmosphere, staff, space, cleanness, parking, size of rooms, sleeping quality.

Review 53:Completely needs updating. Bed very uncomfortable, decor about 30 years old. Difficult to park. I know it was high season but definitely not value for money

Review 54:The rooms were clean

Review 55:Rooms were extremely old, outdated and uncomfortable. No fridge, tea or coffee facilities. No air conditioning or fan. Wi-Fi only in common areas and extremely slow.

Review 56:Location was good, outside area and pool area was nice.

Review 57:Beds were those two small singles pushed together and as is usual, sloping to one side where people sit. Wifi only in the public areas.

Review 58:Location just a short walk from the lake. Many rooms have views of the lake and/or gardens but my basic room overlooked the roof of the lounge area. Lovely pool and lots of chairs and tables in shady areas outside. A lounge with big screen TV and cable was a useful addition to the tiny TV with limited channels in the room. Plenty of onsite parking. Lovely friendly staff, even the cleaning staff greeted you in a friendly manner as you passed. There's an elevator and computer available for use by those without their own technology.

Review 59:A shame that the restaurant was only open for breakfast. However there were many other great places to eat in the village.

Review 60:The swimming pool was an asset to the hotel. It was beautifully clean with good sun loungers and umbrellas. The rooms were cleaned and laundered every day - blissful! Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend to friends.

Review 61:Room was old (paint, furniture) Room was cold in July (heaters were not working) Bathroom ended like a swimming pool after each shower (no curtain available)

Review 62:Great location Staff was helpful and nice

Review 63:Hotel is a bit shabby, and slightly run down. However our room was clean and with a lovely view. Unfortunately, our bathroom view was in plain view of two other rooms balconies, and had a net curtain that only went partway down the window. If I was having a shower or bath I was in clear view of the chap opposite!

Review 64:Situated handy to Annecy and by the lake. A lovely spot with several good restaurants close by. Helpful staff and spacious rooms.

Review 65:Spacious clean room, friendly helpful staff, relaxed atmosphere and pretty grounds. Shame they don't provide evening meals but there are plenty of good restaurants nearby; particularly the Savoyarde

Review 66:Quiet room, good breakfast and friendly staff.

Review 67:Great location, friendly helpful staff! All around wonderful experience!

Review 68:The lift was really challenged. We had to go for a meal somewhere else.

Review 69:Swimming pool. Friendly staff. The wonderful view from our room.

Review 70:Bad pillow

Review 71:Nice place

Review 72:Wifi not available in rooms.

Review 73:Relaxing atmosphere and a great pool. Breakfast is fantastic and can be taken in the dining room or in the garden.

Review 74:Next to no service, nothing to eat during the day, no towels provided for the lake, rooms very old.

Review 75:Location and view.

Review 76:cost to high and then e-mailed by yorself at 70% of cost ??

Review 77:Pool and place to holiday in

Review 78:The room was stuffy, no fan, no ac . No shower curtain , closed restaurant. Power went out, no back up generator . Old and run down

Review 79:Great location. Very comfortable bed.

Review 80:No restaurant

Review 81:Location and pool

Review 82:Hotel is used and some thinks should be updated

Review 83:Good location in the middle of old town, Pool & Wifi ok

Review 84:There is a good shower but no curtain or shower screen

Review 85:Swimming Pool

Review 86:No fans or air conditioning in rooms

Review 87:Location

Review 88:No bar or restaurant. Old fashioned rooms

Review 89:Location. Pool.

Review 90:No fridge in the room. No restaurant.

Review 91:Pool AND location

Review 92:Odd bathroon

Review 93:Convenience to Lac and town. Very quiet.

Review 94:Very relaxed atmosphere Beautiful setting friendly staff at hotel

Review 95:A lovely little French village. Good value. Lovely staff.

Review 96:The small rooms and very old style.

Review 97:No tea and coffee, bad pillows, no restaurant

Review 98:Pool, views and location

Review 99:Lovely view, very confortable room and very sel coming staff

Review 100:The relaxed atmosphere + the pool + friendly staff

Review 101:the hotel is not on the beach exactly but near.

Review 102:Good rooms! good breackfast.

Review 103:much too expensive for what they offer; small rooms

Review 104:the surroundings

Review 105:Rain!

Review 106:very pleasant and helpful staff.

Review 107:Rooms and communal areas need refurbishing, breakfast 13 euro was poor. No air con in rooms which in summer leads to poor sleep.

Review 108:Lake view and pool

Review 109:Very helpful staff and lovely location.

Review 110:There are no comments available for this review

Review 111:The lake. Swimming pool

Review 112:Very bad WIFI . drinks in the hotel too expensive and no minibar.

Review 113:Nice location near the lake in a beautifull quiet and small village...Wonderfull view....(from the lakeside oriented rooms)! Free parking.

Review 114:Beds were a little too hard.

Review 115:Location is perfect. Staff is friendly and very nice. Room size is very good and bathroom was large and clean. We had a wonderful time.

Review 116:we did not book a cheap room but were given a room with the most unspeakably uncomfortable bed we have ever come across. The two single beds which seemed to be decades old were pulled together with single sheets and single blankets used across the bed so that they did not adequately cover the bed. The place had an uncared-for feel about it with a very Lukewarm reception. I asked for a change of bed if possible the next day and was given one of the best rooms in the hotel, but there was no way that that previous room was 3star quality.

Review 117:Stunning setting.A balcony room really worth while.

Review 118:Staff could be more friendly. Hotel is a bit old aged and could use some renewal, however everything is clean and even if old, all works fine and is comfortable.

Review 119:Great view from the hotel room on the lake Great swimming pool with lovely view on the lake Very relax

Review 120:Definitely need a car as not easy to get to from Annecy if arriving by bus or train.

Review 121:Fantastic location, laid back atmosphere & lovely private pool close to the lake.

Review 122:The hotel itself is very basic and in need of refurbishment. Bed not very comfortable and made with sheets & blankets rather than duvets. No proper shower, just a shower head over the bath. Given its position and scope, it has the potential to be a great hotel. Just needs updating and more facilities to make comfortable.

Review 123:Great position in the lovely village of Talloires. Just a very short walk to the shore of Lake Annecy. Hotel has nice garden area and pool. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 124:Lack of privacy on the balcony area. Dated interiors especially the floral wallpaper in our room. Our superior room was on the 1st floor so the Lake view was obscured by large trees. The photos generally show the more expensive rooms so would recommend paying a little extra and asking for a 2nd or 3rd floor room.

Review 125:Talloires is a beautiful village on the shores of Lake Annecy a short walk from the hotel. The hotel has a nice outdoor swimming pool which was clean with deck chairs,a pleasant place to sit and read with a view of mountains and towards the lake through the trees.

Review 126:Excellent family hotel for a comfortable and relaxed stay. Spotlessly clean bedrooms with great bathrooms and views of mountains or lake. Ample parking in the hotel grounds, shady gardens and a great pool. One minute to the lake and less than two minutes to the shops. Friendly staff and good value. What more could you want - well, maybe a kettle in the room, and the wifi (free) is only in the reception and lounge area. But neither of those is a big deal. Talloires itself is a pretty village with several restaurants and cafes ranging from gourmet to snacks, and a good small supermarket. Fifteen minutes from the hustle and bustle of Annecy, Le Lac is a good place to stay and it did everything it said on the tin.

Review 127:Pricey for what you get. No restaurant in the hotel. Needs a major upgrade. Parking difficult at times. No wifi in rooms, only in reception area.

Review 128:No basic restaurants in town - plenty of quality food places though. Unable to get drinks at Hotel in evening - kettle in room would have been nice.

Review 129:Good quiet central location with plenty of private car parking. Close to Lake.

Review 130:No bar. No wifi in room. Room size and view vary a lot. Relatively expensive.

Review 131:Great location. Good pool. Good room. Lack of restaurant not a problem as several within a few hundred yards.

Review 132:Wifi did not always work Staff were dressed in less than casualattire even as far as looking grubby. Restaurant closed and barservice very ordinary

Review 133:Large nice pool Close to lake Talloire was a Lovely area

Review 134:very small rooms decor needs some updating very few staff on or around no breakfast included in cost high price reflects location but not quality of hotel

Review 135:location
