Reviews for Hôtel balladins Lille
Review 1:I was disappointed by the fact that the cleaning ladies got into the room without waiting for an answer after knocking the door and never came back to clean the room finally. Thus, we didnt have clean towels next day.The breakfast was very expensive compared to its quality.
Review 2:It was well located in the center of the city and very clean. The receptionists were very kind.
Review 3:Lack of wardrobe space. Nowhere to hang coats or dresses, just a small rail with a shelf underneath so depth made it only suitable for hanging shirts. Although clean, the room looked a little "tired" compared to pictures shown on booking.com
Review 4:The location. Easy walking distance from Lille Europe station and to town centre.
Review 5:Room was very compact, bathroom even more so, considering the hotel had just been decorated room was tatty with several broken items, lights etc. only refreshments from vending machines
Review 6:Great for Christmas market, station and shopping centre
Review 7:Small room and even smaller bathroom but was great for our needs.
Review 8:The staff was fantastic and extremely helpful. The hotel itself is rather small but it was what we expected. The rooms are small but again for the location to all public transport and shops, we really did not spend much time there.
Review 9:there were no problems or complaints. Another pillow would have been welcome, but it is not a big deal
Review 10:Good location for a city break. Staff were helpful when the TV went wrong.
Review 11:there was no tea or coffee in the rooms after a long journey , just wanted a hot drink and did not have any in the rooms. very basic , very small bathrooms you could not get undressed in there , you had to get undressed in the bedroom first , room very cold too.
Review 12:covenient being in centre.
Review 13:Room 608 had a noisy generator next door which prevented my son from sleeping but the night staff were very helpful and changed his room without any argument.
Review 14:Quiet spacious room, spotlessly clean. Staff very helpful. Breakfast a little limited but adequate.
Review 15:It can be a bit noisy, you are in a city after all but closing the window does block most of it out. Not a problem but be aware Local parking at train station is 24.50 euros for 24 hours.
Review 16:Location close to station and main square. Cleanliness. Although rooms were on the small side they are perfectly adequate for what we paid and our purpose.
Review 17:Tea and coffee facilities in the room would be a lovely added extra - but not a deal breaker.
Review 18:This no frills hotel was really clean, with comfy beds and a wonderful shower. The staff were friendly and the location was so convenient for the train station and all the main attractions. Despite being so central, the hotel was really quiet, we wondered at one point of we were the only ones there! Highly recommended, would book again.
Review 19:1) The room is a bit small but normally it is same in France :-) 2) The equipment in the room is too simply. If you need hot drinking, you need borrow the electric kettle from reception.
Review 20:1) the site is really convenient to anywhere for shopping, travelling & accommodation 2) the staffs are friendly & pleased to service the clients
Review 21:It can be quite noisy as the hotel is just in front of railway station. The rooms and specially bathroom are very tiny and you can hear how your neightbours are turning in beds :)
Review 22:Next to the city centre
Review 23:Small room, no air conditioning making it uncomfortable in warm weather, bedding did not smell fresh
Review 24:The breakfast terrace and patio area with the 6th floor rooms
Review 25:Bathroom had a few issues - broken sink, shower and bathroom door not closing. Was not possible to change the temperature in the room.
Review 26:Excellent location.
Review 27:Rooms are small and need serious refreshment in terms of painting, probably were quite cute when new but now really look bad.
Review 28:Good location with easy access to railway station and airport shuttle busses, 24 h hour reception, stuff professional with quick response to inquiries.
Review 29:A lot of suspect people (homeless/alcoholics/drug users) are to be found in and around Gare de Lille Flandres and at times very near to the hotel also. Most of the good restaurants are in the Vieux Lille so not far but not right next to the hotel either. The room was very small.
Review 30:The location is good in terms of being close to the train station and the subway. The smiling young lady at the reception was very kind and helpful. The breakfast is served in the seventh floor where there is a good view over most buildings.
Review 31:The room wasnt ready when we arrived. We we waiting almost two hours after the time the room should have been ready. Shocking pillows. Bed was uncomfortable.room smelt even after it was cleaned of an unpleasant odour. Room was on the street side. Was noisy early on in the evening as there was a restaurant underneath.
Review 32:Not much
Review 33:If your room faces the street, it will be rather noisy due to traffic and that there's a bar directly underneath the hotel. Rooms are small, but adequate.
Review 34:The location is perfect, close to the train stations & walking distance to all the sights of Lille.
Review 35:The room was very very small and basic.
Review 36:We stayed at Balladins for the Lille braderie. We choose this accomodation for the location which was perfect for us.
Review 37:I am over 6ft tall and I found the loo seat to be rather high, my wife said her feet didn't reach the floor. Roon no 507
Review 38:Very convenient for overnight stop. Even though it was in a very central busy position we were not bothered by noise.
Review 39:It was Braderie and we booked late, so you get what you get, but seriously, that was the smallest bathroom i have ever seen in a hotel room. Not the place to have a "wet room" shower. Plus the wifi packed it in and there seemed to be little concern to fix it.
Review 40:Good location. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was good value.
Review 41:Difficult to find. Asked for a ground floor room and was placed on the top floor. One of us in wheelchair so very inconvenient.
Review 42:Helpful staff and next to local restaurant and bars with great atmosphere
Review 43:Room small, cramped, very cheap furnishings, the 'desk' was the window sill, no bedside flat surfaces. One chair plus folding stool but no room to sit anyway.Shower a mere trickle. WiFi died after 24 hours, not repaired while we were there. Only English-speaking TV channel not functioning - rest all French only. Wake up call impossible as no phone in room. Lift tiny - said for 4 - only took two comfortably. Could be slow because of demand - some waited because they could not get in with luggage, did not choose the cramped space. Was surprised it had 3 stars - 2 would be appropriate. Poor value Would not come back.
Review 44:Convenient location - a room at the front but still not noisy. Staff friendly. beds comfortable. Bathroom clean. Breakfast room pleasant with outside verandah as long as one did not mind heights.
Review 45:Wifi was not good- slower and needed to log in several times
Review 46:The location and the receptionist staffs were good. Very central location- near to station, restaurants, super markets
Review 47:Our only complaint was the room was very small especially for the price paid. It wouldn't have seemed so dear if breakfast had been included. We think the price was because hotel rooms were at a premium because of the Braderie.
Review 48:The hotel was near the station. The staff were extremely helpful. The room was clean and quite and a good breakfast.
Review 49:The shower was to small this time and still not fix the wall on the lift.
Review 50:Staff are always friendly, and breakfast is really nice. The croissant are the best. I have stayed in this hotel 5 times now and always happy to be back.
Review 51:The room is very small...I've travel a lot but I never saw a small room like this one....even the desk it's a part from wall, no fridge, no phone in the room even the closet doesn't have a door....cos there is no space to open a door. Stuff was ok. I think this is it - from a decent room in Europe, you have to pay over a 120 euros/night
Review 52:Loacation was ok, the view from window (I was on a fifth floor), bad bid enough
Review 53:The only thing I can find is that there was no tea or coffee making facilities in the room
Review 54:Hotel was very clean, very centrally located so brilliant value for money
Review 55:The location was right in the heart of Lille.Perfect for dining out and sightseeing.A bit of a walk from the Eurostar station but not a game changer.Would stay there again.
Review 56:There were no shelves, no drawers in the table, no bedside tables, where we could put our small items in.
Review 57:We enjoyed the location, breakfast, most of the staff were very friendly, the room was light and clean.
Review 58:Reception staff friendly and helpful, knowledgeable about Lille and local events. Comfortable room with excellent ensuite. Plenty of choice for breakfast (but not "full English", obviously, because it's French!).
Review 59:The bedrooms and the bathrooms are fairly small but perfectly adequate. Thought breakfast was quite expensive at 10 euro per person. Also best to avoid coffee from coffee machine. No air conditioning.
Review 60:The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a problem with a leak in our bathroom when we arrived but it was dealt with immediately and we were given another room. Ideal location in city centre and a short walk from the Lille Europe station in the morning. We had a room facing the main square but we're not troubled with any noise.
Review 61:Great location and all the staff are lovely. I have stayed here before and I returned because it is such good value and near to everything. I will definitely stay here again when I next visit Lille.
Review 62:No air conditioning meant we had to have the window open as 30C Bitten all night by mosquitoes as there were no net curtains, shutters or screens. Random young woman knocked at our door in the middle of the night. Slamming doors, room looked out over central void which had a fan in it which sounded loudly all night - this did block some of the noises from other rooms (void caused an amphitheatre effect)
Review 63:Good location
Review 64:Not so easy to park car (train station parking close but expensive)
Review 65:Location close to Lille Grand'Place (some 250m) Calm (slept window open to the back, no noise although in the center of the town in front of main station)
Review 66:Small Lift?
Review 67:Hotel location is excellent and very convenient for Travel reasons & Euro Star Terminal. View from our room was great, very happy stay for 4-Days.
Review 68:No air conditioning One staff member not all interested however the other two very helpful
Review 69:Free wifi Ability to have a room for three people with seperate beds Staff helpful with one exception Location excellent and not too noisy
Review 70:The information said that English is spoken. Please be aware thatEnglish is NOTspoken at all. Payment is also taken on the very last dayof the stay despite booking.com sending information that payment istaken prior to your stay. The broadband disappeared after a few days sowhether our use was seen as excessive is unknown. We only had light usenothing was downloaded so we weren't sure what had happened. No milkwas provided for the tea but we bought a small bottle and kept it in theminibar. Breakfast was 10 euro pp.
Review 71:The B&B is within walking distance to the beach and to the towncentre. It was very clean and tidy. We had booked a double room but itwas a suite. There were 2 rooms plus a bathroom and the decor wasquirky. Bathrobes and toiletries were provided. The minibar was usefulto keep our items cold. The room was cool during the heat of the day soit was lovely to return to after getting very hot outside. The staffwere very friendly and we had organised a late arrival. We were shownhow everything worked in the room. There were plenty of socketsavailable and there was a hairdryer provided but no shaver socket in thebathroom. The area was quiet in the evening.
Review 72:It wasn't a cheap hotel, yet the rooms were very small, the beds are small, towels cheap, very stingy supply of toiletries and (most importantly) no aircon.
Review 73:The location was good, the breakfast very good for the 10.50 Euro price and the 7th floor breakfast room is great. The staff were helpful.
Review 74:A light sleeper would not appreciate hubbub of traffic noise and the cafe chatter from below that can be heard probably mainly in the summer months.
Review 75:Ideally situated to wheel case from Eurostar/Euralille station and across road from Lille Flandres station serving local destinations and providing metro links to Roubaix and Tourcoing. La Piscine Art Gallery in Roubaix highly recommended.
Review 76:Room clean but could have had a little bit more attention to cleanliness details
Review 77:Handy position to all transport links. Small but comfortable room. Staff friendly and happy to help with requests.
Review 78:Small bathroom
Review 79:A short walk from the Eurostar station situated in a central town location. Room was tidy but small and with no aircon. Staff were pleasant and wifi good. Bathroom very small...no cat swinging in there.
Review 80:Nothing
Review 81:Location close to stations and close to old town, shops and restaurants. Receptionist exceptional. Excellent buffet, continental breakfast. Kettle and cups offered.
Review 82:Staff were disinterested and officious. Demanded payment in cash on the spot because their credit card machine wasn't working!
Review 83:Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room.
Review 84:no bedsite table; hardly any space for luggage (I ended up sleeping with my pc, mobile and even luggage in my bed - no place for them elsewhere !)
Review 85:good bed, friendly reception
Review 86:Rooms are very small and the bed was so-so but for a stop over it was absolutely fine.
Review 87:Great location both for the city centre and Lille Europe. Room was clean enough and breakfast was plentiful. Ask for a room at the back for a silent night!
Review 88:We had a room at the back of the hotel so there was no problem with traffic noise however the nature of this hotel, I guess, makes it attractive to groups and during our stay there was a youth sport team staying who insisted on allowing the doors to slam shut, resulting in the walls of our room physically shaking. Also, despite this being a non smoking hotel, there was a strong smell of smoke during the night.
Review 89:If you're using the train, or visiting the Eurolille Centre then the location couldn't be any better. We were in a family room, which had plenty of room in it. The bathroom was spacious enough however the shower was constantly dripping and the hotel was plagued with plumbing issues during our stay which resulted in there being no cold running water at all. The receptionist made sure we were furnished with plenty of bottled water but you wouldn't think cold running water would be too much to ask.
Review 90:Nothing.
Review 91:A very well run comfortable central Hotel. Staff very helpful and friendly speaking great english . great location for Railway stations. Good value and great breakfast room view.
Review 92:Bathroom is extremely small - not suitable for everybody (difficult to move around). Fan in bathroom was permanently on (=noisy).
Review 93:Problem with lock on door was solved very quickly.
Review 94:It's not as nice as the pictures, my room was tiny compared to what I expected from the pictures, and it definitely doesn't look "recently renovated".
Review 95:The location was perfect, and the staff were helpful.
Review 96:The price of the breakfast, especially because establishments in the near are offering lower prices for also good food is a bit high. Also as we were attending a conference, we would have wanted more space for our clothes (the space is very limited).
Review 97:The staff is very friendly and the breakfast good. It is very near the bus and train station and the old city center. The rooms are a bit small, but very clean and comfortable.
Review 98:Room was sort of small and very cold at night. Had to turn the heat up. You could hear some street noise, but it wasn't too bad.
Review 99:The hotel is a stones throw from Lille Europe, which is very convenient. The room was basic, but clean.
Review 100:There was nothing we didn't liked, enjoyed our time.
Review 101:Liked the fact that the Euro Star was so close to the hotel, that there was nearby shopping. Getting to the old town was very easy, either to walk or by taking the local bus. Best of all, was the people who were all very pleasant wherever we went.
Review 102:Was not allowed to bring bike into room although saw at least six others do this. Manager allowed one guest to lock bike in fire escape. This is illegal
Review 103:WiFi registration and access a bit fiddly, but hey it's free, and many hotels don't offer that.
Review 104:Perfect for short trip - central location, clean and comfortable room, solid brekkie.
Review 105:We didn't have enough large towels and had to ask for them. There was no kettle to make tea and coffee and only 2 cups even though there were 3 of us.
Review 106:Fab location, lovely and clean and good bathroom with large shower.
Review 107:We thought that maybe the breakfast should of been a bit better with: bacon , toast and all of that. Our tap only had hot water so the manger gave us room 300 and fixed the tap in the other room.
Review 108:The staff were very helpful and friendly , who sorted out any of our problems. Very comfy beds and in great location.
Review 109:Very basic, clean room, but very small. No English speaking channels on TV.
Review 110:Very good location, right opposite to the train station and close to shopping centre and restaurants.
Review 111:We slept at the front and that was rather noisy on a Fridaynight. The beds were a bit narrow.
Review 112:Next to the station in Lille. Good value for money. Clean room and clean bathroom. Very helpful and friendly personnel.
Review 113:Staff were always friendly with any of our questions, room was basic but clean and quiet and beds very comfy. Breakfast buffet offered a choice of cereals, yoghurts, cold meat, bread, pastries, fruit, juice and hot drinks. Location was excellent - 10min walk from eurostar station and short walk up the road to the main old town square. Lockers available to leave baggage if you need to checkout but want to take time to explore more. Really good value price too. Would definitely recommend If you're looking for good value hotel.
Review 114:Single beds are incredibly narrow. Remind me of college!
Review 115:Excellent location next to the train station. Quick access to public transportation and food. Clean place. Friendly staff.
Review 116:Quite expensive for the size of the room with no coffee or tea and drinking water in the room.
Review 117:The location is good. close to train station and the town centre.
Review 118:Not easy to spot at first as so many hotels in vicinity.
Review 119:Just what was needed after a stressful day (Eurostar cancelled). Arriving latish, I knew I'd still eat well and was delighted that I only had to go down the stairs and turn left.
Review 120:Would have liked a bedside table and another chair as only one for two people.
Review 121:Excellent location, modern & new, good efficient staff, lots of restos and cafes and near to the Grande Place. Palais de Beaux Arts, Bois de Bologne and the Citadelle are worth a visit.
Review 122:- no kettle in room - had to go downstairs to the reception area to - purchase a weak and extremely sugary cup of tea
Review 123:- proximity to both stations and town centre - quiet despite closeness to station and traffic - kindness and helpfulness of staff - convenient for a short stay - cleanliness of room
Review 124:The downside of being in the centre of Lille was that if you get a room at the front of the hotel it did tend to get noisy at night and deliveries to bars and dustcarts early in the morning,
Review 125:Excellent value for money. Clean and friendly.Breakfast good value for money. Excellent location from the station and city centre.
Review 126:The only complaint was the bed which was hard and extremely uncomfortable.
Review 127:The hotel was clean and well laid out, with staff who were extremely helpful and friendly - it was a pleasure to stay there.
Review 128:the place was clean and neat and the staff were helpful cheerful and very polite a most enjoyable stay we left a wedding ring and mobile charger behind and were contacted and the property returned your honesty and integrity are beyond reproach thanks R PARKES
Review 129:The room was pretty small. Adequate for 1 person with limited luggage.
Review 130:Being right in the centre of town, I expected it to be noisy. But it was completely quiet. Also: free wi-fi
Review 131:Value for money hotel, but the double bed was practically shoe-horned into the room. You could get out either side, but had to press yourself flat against the wall to squeeze past the end. Maybe a small thing, given the price and location but it didn't make me want to go back to my hotel in the evening and I'd probably not book there again. I'd pay 10-20 euro more and get a decent room.
Review 132:Good price and central location, though the streets around feel a bit dodgy at night as central train stations often do.
Review 133:Not much of a view from the room! Couldn't open the curtains as the window faced out to all other rooms in a central atrium.
Review 134:Easy central location on a budget
Review 135:Location very good, central to all amenties. Staff were extremely helpful. Room was small but comfortable and we had the unexpected bonus of a balcony overlooking the town.
Review 136:Location very good walking distance from Lille Europe, walking distance to the grand place and plenty of restaurants on the doorstep. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 137:Room was a double but it was tiny with the smallest shower room/toilet possible. Bed was uncomfortable and had to walk sideways to get around the bed. Very little storage space so couldn't really unpack which meant living out of a suitcase. All in all a clean hotel but I'd have hoped for more given the star rating and cost.
Review 138:Location right opposite the train station Flanders and only 10min walk from eurostar station. The staff were very helpful on reception and helped us many times.
Review 139:Room was quite small, very little hanging space, no drawers! Bed was not the most comfortable, but this was not a major problem
Review 140:Location was excellent, only 10 minute walk from Eurostar station. Close to metro and perfect for sight seeing Lille. Staff very friendly
Review 141:I thought the breakfast was a little expensive for what we got.
Review 142:Super easy location being right across from the train station. We had very heavy luggage, so it was a breeze! This is not a super fancy hotel, but since we were traveling we were not in the room much. It served it's purpose and was a great rate!
The Fine Print
Please note that bikes cannot be parked at the hotel and are not allowed in the rooms.
