Reviews for Maison d'Hôtes Les Belles de Mai

Review 1:Location, people, comfort and convenience to the Mont Sant Michel attraction. Also, if you wanted to explore other areas in Brittany, this is a good center.

Review 2:The bathroom had a bad smell, but it went away after the shower was used. I suggest to the owners that they try putting a few spoons full of mineral oil in the shower drain to keep the water in the trap from evaporating.

Review 3:Friendly and helpful hosts, nice breakfast. No problems parking. Convenient to Mont St. Michel. Lovely garden

Review 4:Super nice B&B and perfect for people who want to visit Mont Saint Michel but do not want to be in the middle of the tourism-chaos. Very nice that the owners spoke french, english and german!

Review 5:The owners, which just recently took over the property 10 days before our arrival, were very helpful. They didn't have many recommendations to eat as they had just moved there, but were able to quickly recommend a good place & made a reservation for us. The breakfast was delicious & they were very hospitable.

Review 6:Wifi not very good - unable to access. However it didn't affect us too much as we were only there for a short stay.

Review 7:Loved the grounds and the rooms were furnished beautifully for the period. So much choice for breakfast, that we really felt like kings and queens.

Review 8:Great room with mini-bar, beautiful garden and kindly madame. If you can drive a car, I highly recommend to stay here instead of the touristic hotel inside of Mt.st.Michel. You can access there by just 5 minutes drive. My friend OPIUM (charming cat) came to my lovely room and wake me up in the morning...

Review 9:Nothing really. We didn't have an issue but if you're allergic to cats you may want to talk to the owner.

Review 10:The B&B had a beautiful garden which we used every day to have our baguettes and wine. Location is very close to Mont St Michel (5 min drive) and parking is easy. Breakfast was fantastic, and our host is simply wonderful. One of the highlights of our France trip.

Review 11:Overall the stay was pleasurable and we would defenately stay again. The only negative was the room was a bit warm during the night, a fan or air con would of made the stay even better. The croissants for breakfast were slightly undercooked but reading other reviews we are under the impression that this was a one-off experience.

Review 12:We went for the budget room which very spacious and clean. Owner was very friendly and gave us advice on where to eat and visit. Perfect locations for Mont Michelle if you have a car- less than 10 minutes Drive away.

Review 13:We liked everything about this place.

Review 14:Location excellent. Near Le Mont St Michel. In town yet very quiet. The most beautiful quiet garden. We were given a small flat, despite only booking a room for one night. Could have happily stayed longer. Beautiful rooms. Stylishly decorated. Our welcome was second to none. What a lovely lady.

Review 15:Our stay in the hotel was really nice! We actually had a fully furnished and well equipped duplex apartment for ourselves and a beautiful garden! the breakfast was delicious with fresh croissants, brioche and bread, homemade marmalade and many more! The host was lovely, very helpful and gave us great tips to explore the area!

Review 16:Thank you Beatrice! You made us feel so welcome. Loved our rooms. We had the rooms that had a bed in one room and a little room with a twin bed off that room. Loved the decor. Great water pressure!! Breakfast was the best! Yogurt, croissants, other bread from the local bakery, meats and cheeses and we loved the jams!!! We were up early so the bread was warm from the bakery.

Review 17:We had a very warm welcome, our host gave many suggestions on what to do in the area. The accomodation was perfect, there is a beautiful garden and the breakfast was excellent.

Review 18:Nothing.

Review 19:Beatrice is a wonderful hostess and really makes her guests feel welcome. The hotel is very homely and is in the centre of Pontorson, close to restaurants, bakeries and shops. It is also ideally located for Mont St Michel (only a 10 minute drive away). We also enjoyed the magnificent and traditional breakfast each morning. All in all a great stay and we would highly recommend staying here.

Review 20:The innkeeper Beatrice was wonderfully friendly. She let us check in early, provided us the bus schedules we needed, and gave us local restaurant recommendations. The room was beautiful. The breakfast was delicious and was served in a memorable dining room!

Review 21:Nothing I did not like. A must stay.

Review 22:The lady who runs the hotel is jut lovely. From arriving their to leaving she could not do enough for you. We were given leaflets of things to do and advise. The rooms are spotless and very accommodating. I found this place to be very relaxed and excellent value for money. I would happily come back to this place again.

Review 23:That we had to leave early after only one night.

Review 24:OK, like this place is crazy good. Just amazing. It's clearly because of Beatrice, the owner. She did everything she could to make sure we were comfortble in every way. Her attention to detail was unbelievable. Like bath salts in the room with the tub..bringing in a water bottle and placing it on the night stand on an adorable little porcelain coaster..so fancy so pretty etc .. Am I in a five star hotel?? She has impossibly fat and sweet cats; so cute. There were apples on her tree in the back yard and she invites us to help ourselves. And then..we had to leave early to catch a train so we told her not to worry about breaskfast. She would have none of it - ran to the bakery the moment it opened so we would have bread. Best croissants we had in our three weeks in France, by the way. There was jam, yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs and more. She had soft music playing..are you kidding me?? I am so upset we had to rush through that breakfast; the thing I regret most about our trip. This gal really cares about her place and her guests. Thank you, Beatrice.

Review 25:The church bells woke us up at 5am with a continuous chime for about 10 min

Review 26:Everything Gabrielle decor beautiful rooms wonderful & plentiful breakfast

Review 27:Very welcoming, comfortable, clean and quiet, slept very well. Lovely lady proprietor so helpful. Tea making in the room (seems to be unusual in France). Easy parking and being a few kms away from the centre made life very easy. A great breakfast/

Review 28:wifi could be faster but it was still OK

Review 29:Wonderful hospitality from the hostess great attention to detail well appointed kitchen facility we would highly recommend this property we felt just really comfortable here.

Review 30:We really enjoyed our stay. the hotel was very closely located to everything and the staff were nice and relaxed. We loved our room and for France it was very large with an amazing shower.

Review 31:The front of the hotel is marked only by a tiny sign which made it a little hard to find.

Review 32:The proprietress was charming and very helpful. The rooms are delightful and even though the house is 300 years old it has been thoroughly updated. The breakfast was abundant.

Review 33:She has cats - so if you are allergic - beware. They are very docile and did not bother guests at all.

Review 34:The owner was a very sweet and VERY accommodating person. There were so many perfect touches added - from the free bottled water and the heart-shaped sugar cubes to the homemade rhubarb jam. She was ever so willing to share her knowledge about the location. Which by they way was a perfect location - quiet yet close to the town for shopping. Easy walk to the bus that takes you to Mont St. Michele. I would HIGHLY recommend this place!

Review 35:We were very impressed with the cleanliness and hospitality of the hostess. The two rooms are very spacious connecting together. Its location is perfect for visiting Mont St. Michel. Nit to mention its price; it is very reasonable. We really love it.

Review 36:Nothing was to much trouble

Review 37:Everything! A very beautifully decorated room (we stayed in "Eclipse" room), stylish house and garden, very tasty and various breakfast!

Review 65:Our hostess, Beatrice was very nice. recommended a good restaurant and took the trouble to book our table. Very convenient for Mont St. Michel

Review 66:The decor was beautiful. The woman managing the bed & breakfast was friendly and informative.

Review 67:Everything. The hostess has thought of everything, all the comforts and accessories we could require. Very high quality accomodation. Well done

Review 68:All was great

Review 69:Beatrice was excellent host. Breakfast was wonderful !

Review 70:Would have preferred having a shower head holder to get more comfortable shower time.

Review 71:Location Breakfast choices Cleanliness (room scent of clean!)

Review 72:Not one thing

Review 73:The owner, Beatrice was charming, interesting and helpful. The room and house were beautiful, every little detail. The garden was a lovely place to relax in the sun. The breakfast was exceptional with so much choice of quality food & drink in a charming environment.

Review 74:Madame speaks good english (if you need it) is very attentive with masses of useful information about Pontorson and the surrounding area. Breakfast is superb and contains, where possible, local produce and ingredients. A very good B&B. Follow her local restaurant recommendations - Le Grillon is very good - some of the others are not!!

Review 75:That my trip was to short!

Review 76:Everything was excellent, the location was perfect, the host was superb! Breakfast was superb! Cant wait to come back for a visit!

Review 77:Beatrice does everything to make your stay comfortable. You can see she loves what she does! For example - Beatrice knows Israelis like vegetables in the morning, so she bought some and added it to the generous breakfast menu. The house is 5 minutes' drive from the parking area for Mont St. Michele, the street is very quiet. All was perfect!

Review 78:Our hostess, Beatrice, was very welcoming and even booked us a table for dinner in a local restaurant. Breakfast was the best we have eaten on our trip so far. I highly recommend this B&B . The bedroom was very comfortable and every attention was taken to make our stay a memorable one .

Review 79:Nothing I can think off.

Review 80:Everything. Best experience we had in the entire trip. Thnkyou Breatrice to make our trip so memorable. Right from booking to guiding and receiving and seeing us off, she was like an elder in the house and we were home.

Review 81:This wasn't Beatrice's fault, but my husband is very allergic to cats. She has three of them. However she was sure to keep the cats out of the dining room while we had breakfast. In a way I'm glad I didn't know in advance because we probably wouldn't have stayed there due to the allergy issue. We would have missed out!

Review 82:Béatrice was so nice and very helpful. She suggested that we go to St. Malo, which we did because of her advice. We were very happy we went. It was a beautiful town on a beautiful spring day. It was nice to have such a welcoming hostess. Our room was very comfortable, and the location was great to get to Mont St Michel. Breakfast was sushi delicious. Highly recommended, and we would definitely stay here again.

Review 83:I visited there for Mt Saint Michel with my daughters (7 and 11 years old). The room was lovely and very confortable. The breakfast was also really tasty, I loved Beatrice's homemade cake. She was a nice person and we are really appreciated her kindness! My kids want to meet her and stay there again in near future!

Review 84:if your time is limited and you just want to see MSM, this location is not the best. If you do have time, Beatrice will kindly drive you to and from the free shuttle stop to MSM. Pontorson is a picturesque town worth spending some time in and Beatrice's place has a lot more character and warmth than the motels at MSM.

Review 85:Beatrice, her pets, the house and the breakfast

Review 86:While I love cats and I enjoyed the company of them, I do suffer a little from allergies and it was just a slight problem. We did not get the view of Mont St. Michel we were hoping for, but we did have a pleasant view with a Double Rainbow!

Review 87:The room was absolutely lovely! Beatrice was so very welcoming and a kind woman. She was very informative about Mont Saint Michel as well as other recommendations to visit. The Breakfast was perfect and wonderfully served with fine china in a charming atmosphere. The beds were extremely comfortable and the decorations well done! I cannot stress enough how accommodating Beatrice was to all of our needs or requests. She went our of her way to help me one evening when I suffered some pain from all of the walking. We will definitely look forward to staying here again and recommend it 100%!

Review 88:A slice of Heaven! Beatrice was an excellent hostess. She helped us with our itinerary around the area. Beautiful furnishings and scrumptious breakfast. Ample parking on street right in front of her guest house. Easy walking to restaurants and shops. Only minutes from Le Mont Saint Michel. We stayed 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 89:Beatrice was truly delightful. Gracious and charming, just like her accommodation. The details in the room were magnificent, as was the breakfast. Easy parking on the street. As we arrived early evening, she advised us where to go for dinner and how to get free entry onto the Mt after 7pm

Review 90:Les Belles de Mai is a comfortable renovated home in the heart ofPontorson, within easy walking distance to excellent restaurants, andlocated only 10 kilometers from Mont St-Michel. The owner speaks fluentEnglish and was very helpful in providing us with information aboutvisiting Mont St-Michel. She even phoned a taxi in another city toarrange for luggage transfer for us since we were traveling by bicycle. The home has a lovely garden with seating that guests can enjoy on awarm day. While some might prefer staying at a hotel on Mont St-Michel,I'm glad we chose this B&B in Pontorson instead because it'smore authentic and more relaxing than the overly commercialized city ofMont St-Michel.

Review 91:3 cats and 1 dog live in the main house. The house is still very clean, and the pets are not annoying at all, actually they are pretty cute, but if you are allergic, that might be a problem. Wifi worked only in the living room, but Beatrice said she'll fix it to work in the entire place in a few days.

Review 92:Beatrice is a very nice host, the place is unique and beautiful Great location if you plan a visin to Mt-Saint-Michele

Review 93:A little noisy due to wooden floors but that was due to the other guests.

Review 94:The hospitality of the owner was excellent. Extremely helpful with other accommodation and hire car companies. Her English was very fluent making it easy to communicate. Breakfast was more than adequate. Beatrice (owner) was also very helpful with pointing out tourist options in the area.

Review 95:Beatrice is highly organized, offers an excellent personal, friendly service. All the facilities are of the best quality. Our room was spacious with everything we needed. Excellent breakfast. She has a spacious back garden set up with tables and chairs should you wish to prepare a picnic dinner rather than local restaurants. It is one of the best B&Bs of our trip

Review 96:Not for the hotel but for the Mont Saint Michel, It becames commecialtoo much than few years before. 12 euros for 3 hrs parking is not asense!!! And too much crowed (even hard for walking) in Mont SaintMichel as there was no limitation of number of visitors.

Review 97:I can give two thumbs up to this hotel. It is very cozy and can feel youare welcomed by... Also can see how much the hotel owner puts herefforts to keep it well. Breakfast was nice and fresh. I really enjoyedall old stuffs in the room and want to visit there again if I haveanother chance to see Le Mont Saint Michel...

Review 98:Beatrice spoke fluent english and was nothing but helpful and accommodating from start to finish. The breakfast setting that she put out was absolutely beyond what we expected for the price. The room was also outstanding. Beautiful traditional French decor. 10/10, would visit again.

Review 99:We enjoyed our stay enormously. Everything was immaculate; the room was exceptionally comfortable and clean. the breakfast was great, and most of all, we are thankful to Beatrice for her friendliness, readiness to help with whatever questions / requests we had and for the pleasure we had staying at her guesthouse (we also loved playing with her three cats and a dog a lot).

Review 100:The room was beautiful and Beatrice was an excellent host. The hotel is minutes from Mont Saint Michel and a quick drive to Saint Malo. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 101:Leaving!

Review 102:Beatrice the owner - she couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. The breakfast was plentiful and good. The rooms, decorated to Beatrice's taste, were comfortable and perfectly clean. Pontorson is a good centre to visit many locations e.g. St Malo, Dinan, Dinard, Concale and especially Mont St Michel

Review 103:There is a small choice of restaurants in Pontorson.

Review 104:The host is very warm and welcoming. Her rooms very clean and spacious. The hotel was very easy to find and free street parking available on the doorstep. It is in a very quiet location.

Review 105:Just little: the pillow in the family room on the double bed is not good enough. However, it is only minor, anyway, I can sleep!

Review 106:Beatrice is very helpful. She helps a lot (including finding a care for rentfor us) during our stay that makes us fully use the 2 days staying in her house. The rooms are designed and decorated with heart. It is very clean also. The breakfast is very good with much to eat/ drink. We can start a day with full energy after the breakfast.
