Reviews for Hostellerie Les Frênes & Spa

Review 1:the staff was truly wonderful, they were always happy to help us, patient and smiling, and gave us a lot guidance for sightseeing, local markets, wines, etc, which we followed with great pleasure and amazing memories to come back to! The hotel itself its truly lovely, well maintained, and has stunning garden with a very big pool, so everyone can have a good time, and there even is a good section of shallow water for kids. The rooms are very nice and comfy, and we were lucky to get an upgrade to a lovely large room :) We LOVED it and will definitely be back again! Perfect spot to get logged, and do day trips around Avignon, and nearby PROVENCE for visiting. TOP quality, and with the most amazing breakfast served!! Each mooring we were waken up by the delicious smell of freshly made croissants and pastries, and could't wait to go down to the beautiful dinning room to taste it. The food selection is really top, and the hotel chef does fabulous homemade jams and confits, which we were most happy not only to taste, but were even given a take-away home treat for our family members!!!! Really not many places can top it :) We had evening meal once at the hotel, but were not so keen on the dinner served, and found it slightly overpriced, but this is really the only thing to say and that;s to say if we Must find something to "improve on" , else, the entire stay was PERFECT and we felt like home, and well cared for. Definitely worth recommending :) Thank you to all staff for your amazing hospitality.

Review 2:There were a lot of biting insects but no different to anywhere else in this part of the world

Review 3:Lovely room (junior suite - room number 14). Food looked beautiful and tasted good. Nice gardens.

Review 4:Great breakfast but need to change some items everyday to keep its appeal. No simple lunch menu to make a change from the cuisine francaise

Review 5:Suite with 2 bedrooms and flexibility with the dog. Good air con and beds.

Review 6:Wifi didn't always work, pool towels were not always stocked.

Review 7:Wonderful oasis, lovely pool, spa hot tub, FABULOUS dinner meal - highly recommended!

Review 8:Had a car so, I liked staying out of the town of Avignon so we could experience the country life, but get into Avignon very quickly -- with adequate inexpensive parking there.

Review 9:Not sure if the breakfast was a good value for 20 euros....

Review 10:Marjorie at the front desk was wonderful and extremely welcoming. She booked a last minute lavender tour for me and kept my food in the refrigerator since my room was missing its minibar. The towels were as fresh as can be. A dip in the pool felt great after a long day in the sun.

Review 11:Wifi problems at start - inconvenient as had urgent messages Breakfast too expensive at 20 euros each Duvet inappropriate for summer

Review 12:Large bedroom and bathroom

Review 13:Although we swam each day the pool was too cold to be very enjoyable. The spa was hot the first day but the other time cooler, we selected the temp it didn't warm at all. We couldn't adjust the shower temperature which we were told was set by the hotel. The shower setting was too cold especially after being in the unheated pool. We couldn't get enough hot water for 2 showers a day. Half the second shower was with cold water.

Review 14:Lovely building and gorgeous grounds. Lots of free parking. Wonderful staff. My adult daughter and I stayed for 3 nights in Mid Sept. We had booked separate twin beds, on arrival the bed was as a double. When we advised it wasn't acceptable the staff offered to separate and remake the beds individually while we were at dinner.

Review 15:The hotel is new and some members of the staff arguably need more precise training. Not a major problem, if corrected. The cuisine was tasty and creative. We personally would have appreciated inclusion of a couple of lighter dishes. We're not always in the mood for gastro. Very adequate breakfast buffet. Make sure you ask for "coffee from the machine" as otherwise it is not too flavourful. Major WiFi problems in our room, explained away as "due to the wind." An unsatisfactory answer and we recommended to the hotel they changed their technician. Elsewhere in the hotel, no problem. WiFi is today an absolute pre-requisite for most travellers and needs to be given priority attention.

Review 16:The staff were universally friendly and eager to be helpful. The decoration of the hotel and the settings around it are very cheerful. The hotel is remarkably quiet and peaceful, yet is situated just a stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of Avignon as well as within very easy distance of the many tourist attractions in the region.

Review 17:Wine choices weren't as good as we expected.

Review 18:The setting was beautiful. They are just getting up and running so I expect it will get better and better

Review 19:The location is not ideal because very little to do/see within walking distance.

Review 20:Wonderful place in a wonderful part of France. Would go again any minute

Review 21:We were disappointed to find out that we would not stay inside the house, but rather in a granny flat outside at the back of the property. The hotel was also situated in the middle of nowhere - a 15 minute walk followed by 30 minutes bus ride from the city center of Avignon.

Review 22:The spa and pool areas were nice. Fantastic restaurant with great food. Staff were friendly and attentive. Rooms serviced daily. Spa in room was good.

Review 23:Very comfortable escape but still convenient to Avignon and Rhone sites. Still working out some service operations but very welcoming, attentive, and gracious

Review 24:Nothing

Review 25:A wonderful hotel with a cosy garden, a classy furnished room and nice swimmingpool.

Review 26:Comfortable room, good staff, pleasant grounds, great pool, wonderful food.

Review 27:A/C, bed.

Review 28:Staff. Breakfast, facilities.

Review 29:Very nice chateau, friendly staff

Review 30:There was nothing to dislike!

Review 31:We would definitely recommend this hotel! Our stay was most enjoyable. Room accomodations, grounds, food, staff, service - all exceptional.

Review 32:We loved everything!

Review 33:The location is convenient to Avignon as well as touring the small towns of Provence. The pool was a lovely place to relax and the room had a large terrace overlooking the grounds and a beautiful redone bathroom with shower and separate large tub. We enjoyed having coffee on our terrace before touring the area. The staff was delightful and helped us with dinner reservations. The town of Montfavet is charming and the hotel is a short walk to a beautiful bakery. We stayed 6 nights and it went by so quickly we look forward to our next vacation there.

Review 34:The toilet where not clean, the service was so and so. The breakfast wasgood but expansive.Overall, it did not worth the 270 euros I paid for that stay (2 people and 2 breakfast). I would not suggest to my friend to stay there for that money

Review 35:It was a quit location, good installations and environment

Review 36:Only thing that was bothersome was the bathroom which although beautifuland a nice size for European standards had no shower...

Review 37:Hotel is charming and the grounds are beautiful. The staff was wonderful, Gilbert in particular was so helpful and friendly. Would definitelyrecommend this hotel! The grounds are an incredible place for events.

Review 38:This hotel shows all the signs that it has management/financial problems and has cut maintenance. The swimming pool, advertised as operational in May, was empty. We had no running hot water in our room for all of the 4 nights - they did not even get a plumber to sort the problem and were unable to offer an alternative room of equal standard. Discount given but would have preferred hot water! Paint was peeling off the walls/ceiling in bedroom, dining room and stairs - and remained not swept up on the stairs throughout our stay.

Review 39:Food was good.

Review 40:The room was dirty, mainly the bedclothes. The swimming pool wasdirty too.

Review 41:The staff is very friendly
