Reviews for Ringwood Hall Hotel

Review 1:Exactly what you want when away on business. Friendly comfortable and with the gym, swimming pool, steam room on top of the excellent bath in the room, worth staying in ahead of a standard hotel

Review 2:The bed was extremely uncomfortable, neither myself nor my partner were able to sleep. The wind whistled through the bedroom windows such that I spent most of the night humming 'Wuthering Heights'. The wifi was cut off well before checking out time.

Review 3:Staff were all very friendly and professional. Nice garden view, lovely watching squirrels playing.

Review 4:Having checked into room 360, had meal in the restaurant then went to bed, had shower and turned lights off 21.45. After half hour someone came into my room and put the lights on - next thing four security guards are in my room accusing me of being in the wrong room. I then got dressed and went down to reception to ask what was going on. I felt so intimidated so much so that night I had really bad dreams where I was staying at this hotel for three nights and this incident was happening a few times per night. I got refunded half of my money but the experience was one of the worse in my life. I am insulin depended diabetic and shocks like these can make me really ill. The fact I was on my own made it ten times worse. I am in fact Karen Batley Rosie's mum. Rosie was in the Alexandra Private Hospital and had stayed in this hotel the night previous. Hence this is why I chose this hotel too.

Review 5:Limited vegetarian options in the restaurant and at breakfast. A bit of road as we stopped in one of the out building cottages and not in the main hotel. surroundings

Review 6:Excellent Gym and pool. Food and service in the Restaurant was excellent.

Review 7:...we arrived just a bit too late to use the spa, I'll need to check the opening times when we return

Review 8:The setting, the decor, the staff, the facilities, beautiful gardens, tasty well cooked meals all excellent.

Review 9:Teeny weeny bit close to the road perhaps, but I don't think it really kept me awake.

Review 10:Booked late, asked for a double, was given a twin, when I pointed this out they gave me a mini apartment. What's not to like?

Review 11:Couldn't get a table on first night due to it being a carvery night.Hundreds of people about due to it being a wedding fair. Breakfast wasself service and at £11.95 you would expect at least for them to bring apot of tea to the table. I dropped a pice of lettuce during my eveningmail and meant to pick it up but forgot. It was still there nextmorning. Place is over rated.

Review 12:Lovely gardens

Review 13:Room 123 was above the breakfast restaurant & besides a smaller restaurant. The view from the bedroom window predominately overlooked the roof of the restaurant below with raised extractor/or air conditioning units.

Review 14:Had an excellent meal in evening.

Review 15:Evening meal and the service of waiters & waitresses was very poor. Meal took 45 minutes to arrive after the 'starter' and was overcooked/reheated.

Review 16:Quiet location and able to leave windows open to sleep

Review 17:Terrible computer connection., Needed to get the correct user name and password from reception - but it did not work on either evening. Rang reception to confirm the letters - but still did not work. Had urgent need for news of our house sale.

Review 18:Extensive well-tended gardens, with well-sited seats; very good bar meals. Enjoyed the discovery of this gem in Chesterfield, a town I thought I knew from childhood and much cricket. Architectural finds nearby especially Steetley Chapel, unsignposted.

Review 19:Main course at dinner was enough for two people. It was a bit 'pile it high' don't worry about the presentation.

Review 20:The rooms and the hotel gardens are great.

Review 21:Only one problem with entire stay - the hotel does not have a lift and there are quite a lot of little staircases. If you can't manage them ask for a ground floor room.

Review 22:Friendly staff and exactly what I wanted, quiet and not in town centre. Plenty of parking and pleasant surroundings.

Review 23:The mattress on the bed was dreadful on one side due to a large indent where the springs were failing. The staff were rather indifferent and seemed to huddle together in corners whilst one person did all the running around in the restaurant.

Review 24:We stayed on a one night HB leisure break which turned out to be a fantastic deal because the food was second to none. Fabulous choice for both evening and breakfast menus. Although it rained a lot the grounds of the hotel were very appealing on the eye.

Review 25:Chairs around the hotel (bar etc) could be more comfortable and less functional.

Review 26:The staff are very friendly and engaging. Room was very good for its size and well thought out and well decorated.

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:In spite of the dreadfull weather the staff could not have been more helpful and charming. Although food supplies had not been delivered due to the inclement weather we ate very well. The grey haired gentleman with a moustache whose name we don't know. was particularly helpful and efficient as well as being a really nice person.

Review 29:length of walk to room along with far too many stairs to go up as well as down. Room service meal was dreadful as was soft drink. no duvet for bed - just a blanket and although it wasnt cold I feel this isnt as hygenic.

Review 30:bed was comfy and staff were friendly.

Review 31:Web site does not make clear no twin beds in signature room, if not queried would have had inferior room. Substitute room over restaurant music system, not acceptable for price charged.

Review 32:The reception staff could have been more helpful and welcoming. Lounge facilities need improvement (the comfort and other ratings are affected by this). The comfort of the room was excellent.

Review 33:Restaurant staff were very pleasant and helpful - the food was of an acceptable standard. Lovely room and beautiful gardens

Review 34:The room was located by the goods in entrance and I was woken in the early hours with deliveries arriving.

Review 35:A lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds, the gym was good for a hotel gym, staff were professional and helpful. Food was amazing, comfortable bed and nice pleasant room.

Review 36:No plain yoghurt or cheese available at breakfast. I found the coffee un drinkable, so I tried the Assam tea and that was weak. No lift, which could be a problem. Some staircases were steep and irregular. Poor sound insulation of rooms. Noise and disturbance from other guests at a late hour: I don't want to hear a 'domestic' when trying to get to sleep!

Review 37:The restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel was beautiful and well cared-for and set in beautiful grounds with wonderful trees, lawns and flowers. There were stunning flower arrangements and hanging baskets everywhere. The upstairs restaurant was in a lovely room. The hotel presented well, with nice architecture and tall windows and plenty of parking space.

Review 38:The leisure facilities were ok till you got into the pool area. This had many health and safety issues. It wasn't clean safe or relaxing We could not wait to get out. Both nights we were told that some items had been removed from the menu this was at the beginning of the dinner session, although other options were given off main menu. Out side area is in desperate need of a grounds person as steps and pathways were constantly covered in falling leaves, nuts etc and general maintance of building needs to be addressed.

Review 39:I spent my break with a friend in one of the twin rooms, which was very comfortable. We could not fault the chefs both evenings the food was outstanding, the main lounge and reception bright and airy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice and close to penkridge lovely walks out.

Review 40:The only fault was a tiny bit of mould on the sealant round the bath

Review 41:We came to attend our friends wedding then had an over night stay. The whole experience was great. Our room was a good size and very clean and beautifully decorated. The view out of the window was lovely.

Review 42:Quiet room - cleanliness -efficient staff

Review 43:Good room, a lovely evening meal and a great breakfast to set you up for the day. Staff were friendly and helpful. A lovely relaxing break.

Review 44:Drains. Running the bathroom tap impacted on the drainage for the bath situated in the bedroom . The stench fermented the room

Review 45:Fridge provided

Review 46:leisure facilities closed at 1800 Limited selection of draught and bottledbeers

Review 47:Food very uninspiring sadly.

Review 48:Lovely apartment, nice hotel although decor a little jaded in the main hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 49:Friendliness and courtesy of staff and very pleasant atmosphere.

Review 50:Excellent food

Review 51:It was a lovely place. Very helpful staff and nothing was to much

Review 52:Old Blankets on bed and the mattress was so uncomfortable room bad odour

Review 53:Reception staff were very pleasant.

Review 54:Food choice very average for the price

Review 55:The hotel was beautiful, our room was amazing. The grounds around the hotel were brilliant for a wedding.

Review 73:Pleasant bar area

Review 74:the place , the service

Review 75:Lovely rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 83:i booked the same day as another member of my team for the same day and he paid 68pound and i paid 78

Review 84:breakfast included in the price

Review 85:Wonderful setting and excellent rooms.

Review 86:The English weather

Review 87:The room and the food was first class

Review 88:The toaster were the worst! They took an age to NOT toast a piece of bread. Not the best way to start your day!

Review 89:The meals were great

Review 90:Excellent quality at a reasonable cost

Review 91:Some of the staff were quite indifferent and possibly bored.

Review 92:The beautiful buildings and amazing gardens

Review 93:Reception staff could be cheerier!

Review 94:Design and age of building. Swimming pool and sauna etc. Food was 'ok'. Chefs curry was good.

Review 95:breakfast generally poor.choice of evening menu-nothing seasonal

Review 96:room was lovely.health club facilities, excellent.grounds lovely.

Review 97:Its a hotel good so minor points would be Lamp switches not the same left to right, plastic glasses, bed a bit hard, hate UHT milk, room 207 is a very long walk from reception up,right up along down mind the step left down right ...feels like an Ikea trip! Minor things would make this hotel a 4 star

Review 98:It is a good 3 star hotel, welcoming comfortable good features, grounds look great. Food good ticks all the boxes.

Review 99:To get to the room was like a maze and very topsy turvy. I was located near the goods entrance which was extremely disturbing at 6:30-7:00 am when a lorry was unloading.

Review 100:The grounds.

Review 101:There's is nothing about Ringwood Hall Hotel we didn't like

Review 102:Ringwood Hall Hotel is where we had our wedding reception in 2010; this visit was for our 4th anniversary. The staff remembered us and made our stay very memorable; we love everything about Ringwood!!

Review 103:ONE RECEPTIONIST NOT AT ALL FRIENDLY OR HELPFUL.WAS OFFERED A DOUBLE ROOM TO FIND IT WAS A TWIN BUT WAS TO FAR TO WALK BACK WITH OUR STUFF SO WE STUCK WITH IT.WAS WOKEN ON BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY AFTER A LATE NIGHT,AT 7.30 BY A BIG DELIVERY RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR WINDOW.WE PAID A DISCOUNTED RATE WHICH WE FEEL WAS STILL TO MUCH FOR CLATTER WE HAD TO PUT UP WITH

Review 104:BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS,EXCELLENT WEDDING VENUE

Review 105:The maze like trek, upstairs and downstairs, to reach a ground floor bedroom

Review 106:Fine meals and excellent atmosphere. Easy to see why it is popular for weddings

Review 107:The reception staff were lovely and very helpful and the restaurant staff in the evening were amazing however at breakfast staff were not so efficient but that didn't ruin our stay

Review 108:No SKY TV! I was rudely awaken in the morning at 6am by the noisey cleaners whos cupboard just happened to be right outside my door! Evening meal was not great, the chicken I ordered was very dry and overcooked, left comments with the waitress to inform the chef.

Review 109:The location was ideal for my business meeting the following day.

Review 110:Noisy room. Uncomfortable lumpy beds and pillows, musty smelling room. Really tired decor, grubby carpet etc.

Review 111:Staff were very friendly and I was made to feel very welcome.

Review 112:Everything was lovely apart from the apartment that we stayed in because when the traffic starts on the road your up with it.

Review 113:Loved how all the staff welcome you in and friendly like you have known them for years.

Review 114:Lack of hot water and traffic noise in room 409 my fault should have booked 408 like last time away from roadside(5m)

Review 115:The room ,meals and the guitatist.

Review 116:Internet did not allow anything other than simple http (port 80) which meant that I couldn't connect to many of the services that I use including a VPN back to the office. This is the only thing that would stop me using the hotel in the future.

Review 117:Great setting, magnificent rambling hall with character. Far more interesting than a modern brick cube. Welcoming staff.

Review 118:Would have liked some herbal teas and a couple if Bottles of water in room

Review 119:It was all lovely Staff welcoming and helpful The location was perfect view from our window was a treat and the room very comfortable . Breakfast ,offered a wide choice served by a team of pleasant staff With thanks to all for making it an enjoyable stay

Review 120:breakfast became boring as there is no variety. I did not enjoy the road noise from my room. I asked for a rate review and nobody got back to me. The shower did not have a shelf for the soap/toiletries so it was frustrating.

Review 121:Stunning gym and beautiful grounds, room was nicely furnished.

Review 122:Nothing.

Review 123:The staff rang to inform me beforehand that there was a wedding on that day, and therefore there could be activity and noise until midnight. I was travelling with a dog, and the staff did all they could to allocate me a suitable room, even though the hotel was practically full. I have stayed there previously and found it to be a well run, beautiful hotel with good staff. The parking is easy.

Review 124:We couldn't fault the hotel, but it's worth mentioning thatRingwood Hall is a very popular wedding venue and it does get very busy.Having said that, despite being full to capacity during our stay, thehotel never felt crowded and the staff were extremely efficient.

Review 125:We loved this hotel. The staff were excellent and made us feel verywelcome despite being extremely busy catering for three weddings duringthe weekend of our stay. The hotel is independently owned, very wellrun, and has kept much of its original period charm. It made a nicechange from the usual clone-a-room type establishment. The self-servicebuffet breakfast was excellent, as was the Sunday lunch. We willcertainly stay here again.

Review 126:Nothing everything was lovely.

Review 127:Lovely hotel for a relaxing break. Upgraded to a feature room which was beautiful and spacious . Excellent service by the staff. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Review 128:Staff were very helpful before, during and after arrival; food was really good; my room, though away from the main hotel, was clean, comfortable, spacious and well-appointed.
