Reviews for Camping Haliotis

Review 1:We stayed in a 2 person mobile home in late October. It was very well equipped and lovely and warm - a real 'home from home'. We would certainly visit Camping Haliotis again, but perhaps in the early summer when I could try out the inviting swimming pool!

Review 2:The location was first class everything was within walking distance and an ideal location for touring the area . We would highly recommend this for anyone young and old great for family's and couples

Review 3:French campgrounds are the best, and this place had everything including a small farm. I t backed up to the bikepath to Mt St Michel and was a few blocks from the grocery store. Cute little town. Great facility!

Review 4:We were met at reception with not a smile or a bonjour.we were told that we had to pay 200e and if we did not clean the van it would cost us another 50e.WHAT A START TO A HAPPY HOLIDAY.We stayed at haliotis many years ago when Phillipe and his family owned the site what a difference it was a shame that the now owners didn't follow in the same way Nothing was too much for the family run site and you left with very good memories but not this time.We will not recommend and wont return.

Review 5:We had a small chalet but the bedroom was too small for us to move around in.

Review 6:The warm pool. The availability of bread and croissants every morning. Good hot water supply. Helpful staff.

Review 7:Location good for cyclists,as there are many tracks and trails for miles around without any danger from traffic. Good access to local attractions And shopping

Review 8:Too many issues with utilities offered with the room- booking.com states towels and linen included, however upon arrival we noticed a sign saying this had an extra charge. Asking the staff about it met the response "what can I do about it".

Review 9:Good location to get to Mont-Saint-Michel. Parking available and activities alright

Review 10:We were told that the pool closed at 7.30 and 'rules are rules' (a wonderful phrase of customer service) however the pool gate said 8.30, and the welcoming pack said 9pm (May - Sept). Apparently it really means July. @?!!$&@. They could so easily have said 'go on let the kids use the pool after ten hours getting here' it wouldn't have hurt anyone, and would have meant so much. So they stick to this imaginary 7.30 rule and yet let other rules slip like the cabin opposite that had a party all night til 3am, unchecked. I hated the attitude of this place. Electric fences around the petting zoo (what the?) and stinging nettles. Perhaps they should just say keep away.

Review 11:Hated it, made me regret out trip to France. Our first experience of the supposed French attitude.

Review 12:Staying in a mobile home was very stressful. They give you a list ofitems to check when you get into the home which takes a long time. Theyheld a $200 deposit in case anything went missing or the placewasn't thoroughly clean when they showed up to inspect before youleave. The sign in the bathroom says if everything isn't exactly theway they want it, they take all of the deposit! So I barely slept thatlast night worried I may lose my $200. I would only stay there if we hadan rv. Also, the wifi is good for only one device at a time, which wasnot good for us.

Review 13:The outdoor pool was great. The grounds are kept very clean. The staffwe dealt with was very nice.

Review 14:You are made to pay a €200 breakage deposit and this makes you feel like you are treading on eggshells whilst in the mobile home even if you break a single glass. You are made to pay €8 per bedsheet used when it should just be included in the price. Finally the mobile home could have done with an oven

Review 15:Staff are friendly and very helpful, the location and setting is excellent, great value for money and excellent facilities

Review 16:Although it was a comfortable stay, 90 euros/night is considered a really high price for a camping, concerning that on top we had to clean with our own products in order not to pay 50 euros extra.

Review 17:Very well organised camping with spacious mobile houses with deck and garden.

Review 18:We arrived at 9.20pm after a four hour drive with four young children to find the place closed - rang a bell outside the reception office and after 45 mins of debating with two members of staff, we were eventually shown to a chalet. The next morning we were told they couldn't find our reservation. It was very unwelcoming.

Review 19:Very noisy. Thin walls. Rumble sound. Poor planning (there was a lot of free empty space but we were put right next to a loud family) Staff VERY rude and uninterested when given feedback

Review 20:Good location. Good facilities. Clean.

Review 21:Hidden cleaning charge. There was no mention prior to booking of a cleaning charge of 50€ should you fail to clean the cabin before leaving. This was a shock as we had to leave early and didn't have time to clean the bathroom, toilet, mop the floors which are specifically mentioned in a poster behind the toilet door. Any possible additional charges should be brought to the customers attention at some point ANY point during the booking process. They were not. While it is normal to be expected to leave a cabin clean and tidy, in three months of travel we had never been asked to clean the toilet, bathroom, basin and shower or mop the floors. To make matters worse there were no cleaning products or mop in the cabin and you expected to supply your own. A very disagreeable surprise. Especially when there are cheap motels down the road.

Review 22:The kitchen was a plus and being able to cook in a clean beat kitchenwas a definate plus.

Review 23:Extra 200 euro deposit on arrival + extra 12 euro fee for sheets &towels for a 1 night stay for 2 people + having to make & thenunmake the bed before leaving, having to clean entire caravan beforeleaving under threat of retention of deposit should it not be done asinstructed. The conditions were not disclosed before the booking wasmade & once the booking was made the deposit was not refundable + wefound out about bedmaking & cleaning duties when we arrived. We paid59 euros for an overnight stay, this should include cleaning, linen& bed making as it does in other establishments charging similarrates. The conditions may be acceptable & sensible for long stays orfamilys / groups but not for a couple staying 1 or 2 nights, betterat a hotel.

Review 24:Very nice campsite, very nice clean well equipped caravan & niceoutside space. Pleasant overnight stay.

Review 25:None as such. Shame we had not stayed while pool facilities were available.

Review 26:Enjoyment of the 2 bedroom static home although 1 bedroom booked. Good comfort, shower room , 1st class running hot water. Staff very helpful. All round a fantastic campsite with comfort. Close to Shops,Restaurants, Mont St.Michael, St Malo, Avranche and Granville. Enjoyable stay and look forward in returning.

Review 27:Had to pay for bedsheets. Pieces of hair all over the bed. Have to clean the bathrooms and kitchen and fold the bedding before checking out or else have to pay extra. No towels no anything. Have to bring everthing. Overall not a comfortable nor convenient stay. Staff was not warm nor helpful in giving information when asked.

Review 28:This was definitely a case of being misled by false economy (too many hidden costs) and I do not believe this place should be available for booking to international visitors via a site such as bookings.com as insufficient information was provided. Only after booking, and with no cancellation option, did a confirmation email arrive telling us that linen was not included and would cost an extra 8€ per bed per night and there would be a security deposit. No towels were provided. Both unsuitable for international visitors. We arrived on a Sunday. No supermarkets were open in Pontorson & Haliotis had almost nothing to purchase so the cooking for yourself option was useless. Internet only worked outside the metal cabins and only one device could be connected at a time. Lots of mosquitoes but no screens so you had to choose between being bitten or roasting if you kept the windows closed. No prior mention of the 50€ fee for cleaning if you didn't clean- including taking sheets off the beds, cleaning toilets and washing floors. You were also expected to make an appointment to have the cabin inspected prior to departure to ensure you weren't charged this fee, so there was no flexibility. Rooms were too small to fit our bags so we had to keep them in the car as unpacking into the small cupboards was not an option for one night.

Review 29:Be aware that you will pay extra for linens and cleaning. You can do your own cleaning if you don't want to pay a cleaning fee.

Review 30:Nice location, nice staff, fun for the kids. Overall great stay for the price.

Review 31:Nothing!

Review 32:Very green, spacious, immaculate facilities, great staff, English spoken for non French speakers, farm was lovely, very close to the town which is charming and short distance to Mont St Michel with a walking/cycling path to it. Great pool with loungers of good quality.Breakfast can be taken in the bar and bread ordered from the bar for the following morning. Some pitches have their own shower loo and washing up - can't wait to go back, lots to do in the area.

Review 33:If there were more people in mobile home, only one person could use the wifi at a time. Otherwise everything was ok I guess.

Review 34:Mobile home was quite big for 4 people, I liked the pool and the animal farm. Supermarket is only 5 minutes walking away and Mont St. Michel only 8 km by car.

Review 35:the play area for the kids was fantastic-great facilities and choice and the kids loved the farm also. it was very near Mont St michel Loved the pizzas option on wednesday night

Review 36:Chalet was clean but bedrooms were very small, Had to wait a long timefor chalet to be checked on leaving even though we had booked a timeslot which wasnt kept. No parasol or recliners only one dirty andbroken one.

Review 37:The location is great. Chalet was clean.

Review 38:The charge for towels and bed linen was well over the top and although it mentioned that you could hire them the over the top price is what caused the issue. We were unable to leave when we wanted to because all the times for them to inspect the cabin were already booked!

Review 39:location good

Review 40:I do not review usually but this campsite was beautiful with à little farm for the kids and à swimming pool.the staff was also really Nice. Thank you

Review 41:we think the staff were not very friendly.

Review 42:Bike hire great with beautiful paths and trails.

Review 43:We were quite stressful for the paying cleaning package!

Review 44:The mobile home is well organized

Review 45:The wifi alowed one person to connect per chalet, I was in conflict with my older son

Review 46:Facility's are brelian clean quite and well looked after

Review 47:Women at the reception looks impolite . But I don t know her name.

Review 48:Wifi was only available for one device only

Review 49:Everything is really nice and worth it.

Review 50:Nothing to complain about.

Review 51:Camp was clean, well managed and staff are great. My wife and I came late and the key to our bungalow was waiting for us:)

Review 52:Nothing to dislike

Review 53:A good place for a relaxing few days away. A very well organised site.

Review 54:i don't have a car! its' position is so far far away from the mont st michel to walk!!

Review 55:Wow this campsite should be a 5 star!

Review 56:Value for money

Review 57:The mobile home gets too hot when the outside temperature is high.

Review 58:swimming pool, animal farm, natural environment. My kid loves there.

Review 59:Family spot. Good wifi

Review 60:Staff could have been a bit friendlier Nothing else

Review 61:The price 5 min walk to town centre Cleanliness

Review 62:The house had nothing (soap, towels or even sheets). You have clean the house before check-out. They charge us an extra payment for the sheets. It is only good if you are a camper.

Review 63:Good facilities and nice pool

Review 64:No comment about cleaning the unit (50 euro if you don't) Web site Contents stated linen included but extra linen would cost. No mention of no towels - they cost extra. These suprises spoilt a pleasant stay. Oh you also have to leave a 200 euro bond. They already gave credit card details. You had to book a time to check out of the apartment. Buy cleaning products to clean shower & kitchen sink after a two night stay. If all this was stated on the booking.com site we would have chosen the motel at the same price. But instead went for the place with a fridge. Bed room area VERY small & no fan.

Review 65:The grounds were very clean & well presented. BUT..... We booked a 2 bed cabin for 2 people with a kitchen.

Review 66:I wish the staff were available for 24 hours or longer period of time. Because the front desk was closed very early (6.30 pm) and while we stayed, we ran out of tissue paper but we did not know who to contact. (At the beginning they only gave us a roll of tissue that was used by half already).

Review 67:The location is very good if you want to visit Mont-Saint-Michel. The staff is very nice. Room was clean.

Review 68:Ventilation system - we were 8 people and in the evening it was very hot and we could not open the windows while the light was on as hornets were flying inside.

Review 69:We liked the place and the atmosphere around us, there were farm animals around and a swimming pool.

Review 70:It was nice to stay here. Real relax, nature, quietude, helpful staff. Only wi-fi access was at reception, but it's not so important thing if you want to escape from "rest of the world".:)

Review 71:We had a mobile home, supposedly fully equipped but without towels.Advertised as housing eight adults; we were three and that waspushing it.

Review 72:Location - good for Mont St Michel

Review 73:It's better if you travel by car. It would be nice, if the Camping Haliotis company extends their net, and this kind of hotels would be in most of French regions, and not only in Bretagne.

Review 74:- a perfect place to stay for a group of friends of family during week end or vacations to visit Mont Saint Michel and other marvelous places of Bretagne, France - very reasonable price for a nice house (for 6-8 persons)/camping including the other facilities, e.g. grill for BBQ, hamam, swimming pool - good price to rent a bike

Review 75:Extra toilet papers not free. Bed linens were not made, you have to make your bed by yourself when you arrive.

Review 76:Nice environment. Animals in the farm. Comfortable 6 person mobile-home for 4 people (it may be small for 6 people though).

Review 77:- the staff didn't speak English. - the rooms were dirty and smelly. - the beds were also not comfortable :-(

Review 78:The fact that it was close to many attractions..

Review 79:Can be full of rowdy teenagers who can frighten young children. I had a 3 year old and 2 year old with me and they got bashed in the head with a well struck football on the bouncy castle!

Review 80:The facilities and entertainment were abundant and first class! The mobile homes were gorgeous, clean and comfy. Rentable bikes to Mt St Michel and Fishing on the nearby river! Friendly, helpful multilingual staff.

Review 81:If I point out something, I wanted to partk my car in front of the room in the night. After 8:00pm, the gate is closed and no driving back my car into the parking.

Review 82:Good place if you want visit Mt Saint Michael. Good hospitality and clean room. It is only 10 min distance by car. You can easily to see the sunset and sun rise over Mt Saint Michael.

Review 83:Problems to connect to WFfi at night...

Review 84:It's a really nice place to go! And the house was awesome!

Review 85:Bed linen should be less expensive.

Review 86:Very good price. Clean and well equipped. Would come back in summer.

Review 87:Time restrictions on clubhouse

Review 88:Price and convenience

Review 89:nothing really

Review 90:Great facilities to keep a young family entertained

Review 91:little bar or restaurant facilities, not much for older children too quiet

Review 92:lovely campsite well thought out, plenty for small children

Review 93:I made mistake and book it for my business trip. It is my mistake only but it is good if you want to stay alone...

Review 94:For family, excellent

Review 95:Amenities are Wonderful. Accommodations are very nice and clean.

Review 96:One room is a bit noisy with a water boiler attached to the wall......

Review 97:Close to Mont. St. Michel with car. Clean.
