Reviews for Villa Rothsay Hotel
Review 1:Bathrooms a bit old fashioned, & one of my towels smelled of cigarette smoke.
Review 2:Extremely helpful staff, particularly with my partner's dairy intolerance.
Review 3:Stairs in main house were not well lit, so one had to be very careful during descent.
Review 4:Excellent bedroom in new ways in new wing. Sea view from balcony.
Review 5:Fascinating memorable hotel crammed with nautical memorabilia.Delightful spacious room with marvellous sea views, also from dining room. Delicious quality breakfast.Very friendly helpful staff & owner. We had a brilliant stay.
Review 6:We booked this hotel on the comments about the resteraunt but unfortunately the resteraunt is closed on a Sunday when we stayed. Can booking include this information for future travellers.
Review 7:Lovely characterful house with great views.
Review 8:The shower was working really funny. The hot water was coming and going as I got shower. So that was the only minus I can think about the hotel. Maybe it was sth temporary.
Review 9:The Stuff and the general atmosphere of the hotel was really nice. Room we stayed in was really big and really well illuminated. The breakfast was also really really good.
Review 10:It is a beautiful house in a lovely location. the views were amazing. The owner and the staff were really warm and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to returning for another stay very soon.
Review 11:fantastic view from the balcony room. All rooms very spacious and comfy. Original Victorian lounge to enjoy the views with honesty bar. Full range of breakfast options. Family owned and very friendly helpful service
Review 12:The accommodation was brilliant - the room was spacious with an excellent view of the sea. Breakfasts were fabulous. Staff were polite, professional and helpful.
Review 13:Great hotel, so much to look at on the Walls and out of the windows! Very friendly staff and all made very welcome, including six year old daughter and young dog.
Review 14:Bathroom is a bit basic and dark.
Review 15:Great views and great full English breakfast! We had a double deluxe room which was very light and airy with a great view. Free shuttle was very handy for getting into town.
Review 16:You could hear the water system, or the boiler going on and off regularly from my room as people went to bed intermittently. This made it impossible for me to fall asleep before 1am.
Review 17:I loved the decor which was very interesting. It's not a boutique hotel or modern, but as a result has bags of character. The staff were lovely and the room was very nice, aside from noise issues. The garden was lovely overlooking the sea and they should certainly make better use of this in the summer and invite people to breakfast there.
Review 18:Only slight niggle, the bathroom (in balcony room) could have been designed with a bit more width - not much room between toilet and wash basin, but most people are smaller than me !
Review 19:Lots of nauticalia, and we aren't even sailors.
Review 20:Not being able to stay longer . This was our fault.
Review 21:We were welcomed throughout our stay in a most hospitable pleasant and helpful manner. We loved the ambience created by the sailing themed decor. The food was delicious
Review 22:Lovely atmosphere, very helpful, efficient and friendly hosts, very comfortable bedroom with wonderful view from balcony. Breakfasts and evening meals were excellent
Review 23:Margaret and her great staff made our stay memorable. Breakfast and how it was served was five star. The views from this beautifully decorated hotel are incredible. We did not have a car and Margaret gave us a ride to the Red Funnel and to catch the island buses. We will return to the Isle of Wight and will stay there again.
Review 24:Room was right by reception/front door and could hear everything outside.
Review 25:Breakfast, quality bed soft linen and towels. Good size room, parking available, staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 26:from the warm welcome, the 'extra mile' by dropping me in town for dinner and offering to pick me up again, to letting me use the sitting room for work beyond my check-out time, I felt at home and taken care of.
Review 27:The room was spacious, comfortable and impeccably clean. The food is excellent, I had dinner and breakfast. I can see why it gets booked up. The views of the sea are to die for too.
Review 28:As I made the booking for my family of 4 (parents with 2 kids aged 5 and 7 years old), to ensure I made the right booking, I called the hotel for advice, and I was told that I had to book 'family type' room, which had the main double bed with adjacent part which have 2 single beds for the kids. I did accordingly, of course, at the higher rate than double room. And just before I checked in, I received an email from hotel, saying that I needed to pay extra for the extra beds. At that moment, I had no choice, but to accept the condition. However, I very much felt it was rather unfair, as the price for family room was already higher than the standard double room, and the paid rate should already cover the two single beds as well. When I checked in, I found out that those two single beds were in fact part of the room, and why on earth I was obliged to pay for the extra beds.
Review 29:The staff were very freindly and helpful.
Review 30:Villa Rothsay is 10 mins walk from Cowes centre, and is a wonderful period property with the best communal lounge / bar you will find anywhere. Stunning views and friendly staff complete the picture.
