Reviews for Logis Hôtel Restaurant La Breche

Review 1:Great service, friendly helpful staff, clean & comfortable rooms. Ideal location close to town and chateau. Amazing food in the restaurant. Recommended!

Review 2:No lift, but nice rooms on the third floor.

Review 3:Well appointed breakfast spread, and excellent chef. Wonderful dinner in the restaurant. Comfortable outdoor area as well.

Review 4:Efficient and pleasant reception, we were able to store our bags prior to check-in. The lunch we were served in the restaurant was one of the best meals we had on our 6 week vacation.

Review 5:No plug in the bathroom. I like to use my own hairdryer. Plugs in the bedroom were not convenient to any mirrors.

Review 6:Comfy room...we were in #9. Large bathroom. Great restaurant. Private parking lot.

Review 7:Had to agree with the previous reviews saying that this hotel seems situated at the wrong side of the town. Very quiet on the surroundings, almost nothing to see and do (except for the gare). Had to cross the Loire river to enjoy the town (just 20 minutes away walking)

Review 8:Location: Very close to gare d'amboise. Rooms: small but clean and comfy (traveling with a 4year old, we booked a double room but were upgraded to a triple room instead, without prior notice...thank you!). Room was surprisingly very quiet (we stayed at 2nd floor), while it was quite noisy outside, especially from the hotel's restaurant.

Review 9:We reserved a table for dinner and were disappointed that it was in a hidden-away corner, behind a curtain, not in the main dining room, so it was rather lacking in atmosphere.

Review 10:Typical French "Logis" hotel with character. Basic bedroom but good bathroom. Private Parking. Pretty garden area. Dogs accepted.

Review 11:What a beautiful hotel, spacious room with a lovely garden. We had a wonderful stay. The proprietors, Mr. and Mrs. Berthelot, were so gracious and warm and friendly and extremely hospitable to us. We couldn't have asked for better service because our stay was the ultimate. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed our best meal in France during a dinner evening at their wonderful restaurant-hotel. Parking was included and was free. We highly recommend this hotel to all travelers and definitely look forward to staying here again.

Review 12:The staff were great! Friendly, attentive, always ready to help, very pleasant to communicate. The room was nice, very clean and cmfortamble. The hotel has a convenient parking, which is free. The neighborhood is quiet, far from traffic noise. It takes some time to get to the old town centre, but it's a really pleasant walk across the river.

Review 13:The slightly quieter side of the river but easy to walk to the other side. Traditional style Logis, everything you needed. Chose to eat in their restaurant in the evening, it was exceptional, French style. Breakfast was good too, worth the extra cost.

Review 14:Lovely hotel with friendly, welcoming & informative staff. We had only booked for one night but fell in love with Amboise and with so much to see & do decided to stay for another. The hotel made this very easy for us and although our first room was unavailable they moved us to another which was hassle free on our part. This hotel is in a good location which is a 10-15 minute walk from the main town. This was ideal for us and we walked into town on both evenings to explore the restaurants. We ate breakfast in the hotel on one morning, which was perfectly acceptable for a continental breakfast and for ease. The hotel also has parking facilities which were a necessity for us and these were locked in the evening providing additional security not that it felt like you would need it!

Review 15:From the moment we arrived, to our departure the owner/manageress was very attentive and the service was excellent. We were upgraded to one of the larger garden rooms which was very spacious. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant and the selection for breakfast was large and included hot items as well. The hotel is on the other side of the river to the old centre but this was a pleasant walk. Very good value.

Review 16:A very friendly little hotel in a quiet location. Some people complain the rooms are too small but what do you want a large room for? We had a 6 ft wide bed! We were there when it was vey hot and there was no problem in getting ice in our room to cool our drinking water. We were given a map of Amboise, shown where everywhere was on it and recommended restaurants in the town, as we were there on a Monday when the hotel restaurant is sadly closed.....it is one of the best restaurants in the town. There is plenty of secure parking in a locked area and it is free. I can highly recommend this hotel.

Review 17:Coming from Australia we did find the ensuite bathroom cramped but understand the old buildings had to be adapted to include bathroom facilities in each room.

Review 18:We enjoyed a lovely french meal in The Breche Garden Restaurant.

Review 19:Staff hospitality and quiet room overlooking garden , with facility to enjoy evening aperitif in sunshine, was great. The quality of the food served in the restaurant was excellent and drew us back the 3 evenings we stayed. It was a very easy walk into Amboise , which proved to be an excellent base for sight-seeing in this region of the Loire.

Review 20:nothing

Review 21:Nice hotel with good parking, good food, and near to main sites. Located across the bridge from Amboise so easier to park but 10 minute access to town. I would stay again any time.

Review 22:The hotel had a lovely ambience, the rooms were clean, the bed comfortable, bathroom spacious and the tea and coffee facilities were appreciated after a day of bike riding. The food and service at the restaurant was excellent and they catered very well for a gluten free meal.

Review 23:The bedroom was fairly small but quite manageable and the generous sized bathroom made up for this.

Review 24:Delicious food in the restaurant, helpful staff, location good as very near to Amboise and other attractions. Outdoor garden area was beautiful but rain prevented us from sitting outside! Will book the downstairs garden room next time for a change.

Review 25:Is a little bit out of the town centre

Review 26:Was a nice room. Quite small but big enough if only staying for a couple of nights. The restaurant was lovely with a great atmosphere and friendly service.

Review 27:From arrival to departure all was as a small hotel should be. The room was clean and comfortable; the staff was friendly and helpful; the dinner was well prepared and presented as well as delicious. Definitely a good experience.

Review 28:Reception was unwelcoming, but to be fair, we arrived at a very busy time in their restaurant on Sunday at lunch. The reception area was shabby. Very steep staircase to rooms. Decor was odd and it looked like it was trying to cover up errors in the room. Considerable street noise. The breakfast was very mediocre, which prompted me to want to cancel our dinner reservations, but almost all of the other restaurants in Amboise were closed on Monday. My dinner was terrible. The fish was mushy and only tasted fishy. Not good. My husband's dinner was better, but the dinner was one of the worst of our trip and was expensive. Can't understand all of the positive reviews for the food. Food smells were not a problem since it was cool, but I could definitely see that this would be a problem in the summer. This was not the least expensive of our hotels, but definitely the worst. All of my other reviews are rave.

Review 29:Beds were comfortable. Room was run down, but clean. Bathroom was very tight with little room to put your things, but good shower. Proximity to the train station was good, which was the main reason we chose this hotel (plus the rave reviews about the food, which was not our experience at all), but far from the town, although we did not mind the walk.

Review 30:Good location, with a little garden setting with tables outside our room. The owners were kind and helpful. The restaurant's setting and food were excellent.

Review 31:only able to spend one night! Wish we could have stayed longer

Review 32:This hotel is very close to the train station and only a 15 min walk to the historic center. Hotel staff were very helpful and took time to help us get info on bus to Chenonceau Castle from town. Room was good sized and had a modern bathroom. Our room was upstairs and quiet. Breakfast in the am was a buffet of cheese, breads, yogurt and jams. Good value for the money. Amboise is a beautiful town and we wished we could have spent more time here.

Review 33:The staircase leading up to the room looked very shabby, with chipped paint, etc., which made me think the room would be in poor condition. This however, was NOT the case, but the baseboards could use a coat of paint.

Review 34:The room was very comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was modern and immaculate. The biggest surprise was the quality of the restaurant; we had lunch there when we arrived, and it was one of the best meals we had during our 3-week stay in France. The meal was outstanding. We also enjoyed an excellent breakfast there. The staff is courteous, helpful, and multilingual. I think it was very good value for the money.

Review 35:room was on the 2nd floor with no lift, it was a struggle getting suitcases up the stairs, room was very small

Review 36:the restaurant was very good, attentive service, charming garden

Review 37:not a dislike but the stairs are steep. but there are garden rooms.

Review 38:beautiful buliding, classic french decor, great wine list, food was simply outstanding, staff great. absolutely stay here

Review 39:Nearby train station did not disturb us. A 15 minute walk into Ambrose over the river Loire with great view of Château. The staff was courteous with excellent English. We didn't have dinner but optional buffet breakfast had a good variety. Excellent value stay.

Review 40:Quaint little hotel with a garden and nicely sized rooms. The hotel staff gave us some excellent sites and wineries to check out. Close proximity to station

Review 41:The room was a bit on the small side and up four steep and narrow flights of stairs. A minor issue though!

Review 42:Traditional French small town hotel, good rooms and an interesting garden restaurant. Dinner was outstanding, beautifully presented and served. Parking better than expected and fairly secure. Very good breakfast as well. A very nice quiet place to stop in a busy town

Review 43:*Children's main courses were not as good as starters or desserts.

Review 44:Staff were very helpful and also spoke/understood English. Food/service was good.* Pretty garden and ideal stop over for us returning to Caen from Beziers.

Review 45:Climbing the stairs with our heavy suitcases (our own fault for over-packing), but the manger did help. When he's not there, however, you can't expect the waitresses or the maid to help

Review 46:Great garden restaurant with fabulous food and wines. Warm, super-friendly and helpful staff from the manager on-down. Feels like a family. On foot, 2 minutes from train station, 15 to old town center. Everything sparkling clean; bathroom and shower have all modern amenities

Review 47:We were given a room in the garden because it had no stairs but it was small, hot and noisy being right next to people eating in the garden. You couldn't leave windows open because of bugs.

Review 48:The restaurant was obviously well known in the town and was excellent.

Review 49:I would have liked an a la carte menu rather than only set menus - better for smaller eaters.

Review 50:This hotel was very close to the station which made it easy for a train traveller. It was only 10 minutes easy walk to the city centre and Amboise chateau. The restaurant in the hotel had great good.

Review 51:Restaurant very busy and noisy and kitchen smells permeated the room until about 11:30 pm. No lift.

Review 52:Nice staff. 5 star restaurant. Parking lot. Good wifi. Charming building. Good beds.

Review 53:The wifi unfortuneately was uncoorperative for our phones. We got connected, but the strength of the signal came and went.

Review 54:I really liked that the location was closer to the train station than to the actual town. It was only about a ten minute walk across the bridge to the cafes and resturants so it gave a quiet residential area and encouraged a nice evening walk. The hallway outside and the stairway was very warm, but not the room itself and the open windows gave nice air. The television was good, and the bathroom was great and spacious. The hairdryer was a bonus too!

Review 55:Didn't see airconditioning, wich could be a problem in summer days.

Review 56:We really liked our stay at the Logis, the room was good in size, and very clean. The service excelent, the people very helpful, good english spoken. I didn't see air conditioning, but as it was cold despite been spring almost summer, for us it made no diference, I don't know about hotter days. The bed matress of awesome quality, the shower espetacular, great! We got a room outside at ground level, so there were no stairs to climb. We didn't have the breackfast, but nearby there is a boulangerie and a cafè, and they were very good. Best shower ever! It is across the bridge, really near the Amboise Castle, and the price is excelente. All in all I strongly recomend it. Room Tip: If you have lots of luggage ask for a room at ground level.

Review 57:The location near the train station means it's a short walk into town, but it is very convenient and quiet. The restaurant serves excellent food, though the breakfast is too expensive for what is served. There is a wonderful boulangerie just down the street that was just perfect for us for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room very clean and comfortable.

Review 58:The restaurant has good reputation but we did not dine there as the kitchen odors wafted up through our room and they were not good smells. Wifi didn't work and we had to pay extra to park our car on their lot which is adjacent to the hotel.

Review 59:Not much to like!

Review 60:We were squeezed with three adults, but we made it work.

Review 61:The rooms are small but have been updated. The dining experience was the best in our three week stay in France.

Review 62:The hotel needs a lot of remedial work. Our bedroom had damp in various Areas and everything was skimped to save money. Wine in restaurant ridiculously expensive For what it was. No lift and stairs steep to take a large suitcase up.

Review 63:The best part of this hotel was a very surprisingly good dinner.

Review 64:Great service in the restaurant. Helpful staff.

Review 65:The staff were excellent. The restaurant was wonderful. Enjoyed our stay

Review 66:Really filthy bathroom - the toilet had not been cleaned for a very long time and the grime around the shower was appallling.

Review 67:Good breakfast by french standards

Review 68:The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 69:Very good shower, comfortable bed, quiet room.

Review 70:Tight staircase.

Review 71:Ease to find and park, corner room with two windows, comfortable walk to town centre.

Review 72:Very friendly staff, we were in a family room across the courtyard from the main building, it was quiet, clean and very comfortable.

Review 73:The accommodation was lovely and tranquil. It was also very close to the town of Amboise and river.

Review 74:Very friendly staff and clean rooms. Lovely stay!

Review 75:Lovely garden

Review 76:Perfect Hotel in a lovely town. Owner and staff are lovely, so friendly and welcoming. Restaurant is excellent. Lovely terrasse and amazing food.

Review 77:Every member of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The garden was very pleasant. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 78:Restaurant closed on Mondays, not clear when booking, also had to crawl under table to plug shaver in to charge.

Review 79:Good storage for our tandem.

Review 80:Wonderful large and comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely yard. Terrific breakfast.

Review 81:Main meal expensive so had to walk into town about 20 minutes.

Review 82:It was very French! Nice welcome lovely garden, helpfull service.

Review 83:upstair of a restaurant, not a good room

Review 84:dinner was ecellent, parking is good

Review 85:the staffs are so friendly and help us for luggage, direction to the chateaux and speak english.

Review 86:Room was very small & on second floor up a steep staircase not very convenient with luggage !

Review 87:Convenient for centre , secure parking

Review 88:Excellent restaurant

Review 89:Large and comfortable room. Delicious breakfast. Amiable and helpful staff.

Review 90:Very narrow stairs. No elevator. Difficult to carry luggage to upper level rooms

Review 91:Wonderful restaurant. Quaint old house with updated facilities.

Review 92:V friendly staff,wonderful meal

Review 93:Occasionally wafts of cooking smells

Review 94:Clean room. Helpful staff.

Review 95:Thought the restaurant was a bit over rated, the food more than the service.

Review 96:Quiet,away from the crowds but still close enough to town. All we needed.

Review 97:Nothing

Review 98:Beautiful garden. Fantastic dinner with attentive, friendly service. The best meal we have had in France for a long time - outstanding. Highly recommended. Located away from the tourist trap on the other side of the bridge. We also enjoyed a drink in the Cafe de la Gare. Great Aldi around the corner.

Review 99:A bit out of town and if the restaurant is closed (and it was), you have a twenty minute walk across the river to the restaurants. Nothing on hotel's side of the river was actually open so no choice but to walk to town (we didn't have a car).

Review 100:Receptionist helpful. Bed very comfortable. Room quiet until about 6am and then there was street noise outside. Easy bike storage.

Review 101:Some noise at night (trains)

Review 102:Close to the train (excellent when your luggage is large. The supper was fantastic. Nice garden to relax and have a drink

Review 103:Some of the rooms are located up a very high set of stairs. But that is my only fault with this hotel.

Review 104:Located within easy walking distance from the train station. The meal at the restaurant was fantastic. The rooms were cosy. Staff were very helpful. And an easy walk into the town centre.

Review 105:It was April the weather was great but they Wouldnt serv us food on the terrace we choose hotel for outdoor dinning ,we have a toddler so it spoilt it for us

Review 106:The matrass

Review 107:Great location very close to the train station. This allowed for a wonderful walk across the Loire into Centre ville. The staff were exceptional - very helpful, always cheerful, and eager to help with information about Amboise. We stayed in a triple room and it was across from the main building with a lovely courtyard in between. The mattresses were fantastic, as was the room in general. We also had breakfast each morning; although it was a little pricey, it was excellent and allowed us a nice leisurely time before heading out to the chateau.

Review 108:No guest lounge. Cooking smells through staircase area.We don't like plastic undersheets on bed.

Review 109:Friendly and efficient staff. Very good evening meal in restaurant.

Review 110:The room was spotless and quite comfortable. Very nice bathroom. Check in and out was quick and easy and the staff was accommodating. Ate several meals at the restaurant, cannot say enough about it - everything was delicious.

Review 111:Very welcoming.Great location; easy walk from train station and to Amboise. Stayed in the garden cottage which was lovely. Excellent restaurant for dinner, gourmet meal. Definitely the perfect place to stay in Amboise.

Review 112:The hotel was location close to the train station, but in a residential area. Very quiet at night, with not many shops and no bars/cafe's. A twenty minute walk to the city centre. This was fine for us, but if you are looking for nightlife you will need access to a car.

Review 113:The staff were amazing! Friendly, polite, offered helpful advice in person and via email and nothing was ever too much trouble for them to help you with something. The on-site restaurant was lovely. Food was beautiful, well priced and served by a waitress with a ready smile and basic English. The rooms themselves were big by European standards, clean and comfortable. They were kept warm, well furnished and in good repair. The bathroom especially was clean, with an assortment of fresh towels daily. The laundry service provided at reception was prompt and appreciated. The location is very close to Amboise train station, making it easy to reach other cities. It's also close to local businesses such as a small deli and patisserie.

Review 114:We had a fantastic stay at La Breche. Staff were friendly right from the start, the room was a good size by French standards, and breakfast was very adequate. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and it was excellent, excellent value for money for the quality of the meal
