Reviews for Knoll Hill Farm, The Place To Stay
Review 1:the staff were lovely the room was warm and comfortable the views were amazing... the breakfast was yummy and freshly cooked for you.. everything was perfect
Review 2:The canopy over the bed - my preference! It was a four poster but having a fine curtain draped over bed and down wall - I don't like as flies can fall in and spiders! As I say - MY PREFERENCE.
Review 3:Easy to find with directions given. Room was spacious as was en-suite. Bed was of a good standard and had a fantastic night sleep. Being in an out building rather than main house everything catered for even extra blanket if required, however, the room was well heated all night so not necessary. Breakfast was delightful and plenty of it.
Review 4:The very attentive host and comfortable room. The full West Country Breakfast was an excellent way to start the day. Well situated for our visit to Stourhead. Only five minutes walk from a fine local pub.
Review 5:The fact we bought our Longleat tickets before talking to Sam he can get you a 25% discount instead of just 10% online on the Longleat website.
Review 6:Sam was brill! He was really friendly his breakfast was excellent and he knew the local area well! The room was lovely and the location was excellent 10 mins from both Longleat Safari Park and Frome!
Review 7:Mattress a little too soft.
Review 8:Very friendly, welcoming staff. Lovely room and super fluffy towels! Great menu choice for breakfast and it was delicious.
Review 9:The whole stay was lovely. Our room was very comfortable with beautiful countryside views. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic cooked breakfast in the morning.
Review 10:could not fault anything
Review 11:comfy bed spacious rooms friendly staff great tasty breakfast and a great host thank you sam & your staff for a lovely stay
Review 12:There is not 1 thing I would dislike about "The Place to Stay" and I would seriuously have to question the sanity of anybody who could find something. This place is a real Gem
Review 13:Sam was an amazing host who could not offer more. The beds were comfy, the rooms were cosy and modern.
Review 14:What a little gem, a place of peace and tranquillity. Very comfy bed, wonderful staff, and individually cooked to taste plated most delicious breakfast. Stayed in a courtyard room with 4 poster bed and massive shower room. Definitely recommend. Would stay again, lots of personal touch, not like in chain hotels
Review 15:Wifi poor, parking and breakfast area not near room so when its raining you get wet. Hard to find sign from road.
Review 16:Room comfortable, interesting small villages nearby
Review 17:I found the mattress a little soft, and could feel the springs.
Review 18:Knoll Hill Farm was very relaxed. The bedroom (Paddock View) was not large, but there were two comfortable sitting rooms downstairs. My husband has trouble sleeping, but was able to go and sit downstairs in the middle of the night to read. There are books, and games for families or friends to enjoy. Children would enjoy the farm animals. The staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The scrambled egg at breakfast was exceptionally good.
Review 19:Stayed here after a nice day at Longleat Safari Park. Staff were excellent, trully happy, cheery, helpful and pleasant to talk to. Breakfast was amazing, you choose what you want and it's made fresh for the time you agree to go down to eat in the morning. Not only that but there are also other bits laid out for you whilst you wait for the breakfast to come. The nearest town called Nunny was a 10 min drive away and although a very sleepy village, lovely to visit to get a good feel of the area and how beautiful it is. There's an excellent DVD collection, the room was extremely clean but homely with excellent en-suite facility. Cannot recommend this enough if you want piece and quiet away from the city. Thank you.
Review 20:Only had WiFi in reception..... Would be better in our rooms too
Review 21:The friendly atmosphere, location, cleanliness,, staff, views, made to feel very welcome and at home
Review 22:Could hear neighbours too clearly through walls. Scrambled eggs made my parter ill as not cooked properly.
Review 23:Nice quiet location, village was nice to stay in, the bed was very comfortable
Review 24:Everything about this place just oozes class and beauty ... The main house was fantastic and the rooms were perfect in a lovely courtyard setting. They were spacious in the main part with an amazing large bathroom with a great shower, very impressive. Sam was extremely pleasant and helpful on both the hotel itself and local area. Breakfast was superb with a wide range of choice ontop of fresh bread, cereals etc. Honestly couldn't recommend this hotel enough.
Review 25:As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcomed, the whole place was beautiful and so were the surroundings. Room was lovely and the breakfast was to die for, will definitely be going back.
Review 26:Our fault: we couldn't get the blinds to work to make it darker in the bedroom. We did not ask for help as we felt it was too late in the evening to ask for assistance.
Review 27:Sam (the staff and extended family/friends) was very welcoming and had a travel cot ready in our room for our baby and a highchair ready at breakfast time. We could hear Glastonbury Festival faintly in the distance, but it didn't disturb us at all. Would definitely stay again and recommend highly to others.
Review 28:Nothing cannot complain about a thing the service was fantastic
Review 29:Really welcoming Exceptionally clean and tidy Great breakfast selection The owner (sam) was really accommodating and flexible Beautiful house and views
Review 30:Well laid out complex with great views from the garden. We were made very welcome by helpful staff. Within easy reach of good local pubs and Stourbridge is only half an hour away.
Review 31:Had to pay an unexpected extra fee for a family room that we were only told of on arrival.
Review 32:Lovely comfy bed, great location for longleat and lovely rural setting. Owner is extremely helpful and nothing is a problem. Breakfast was AMAZING! Also got 25% off longleat tickets.
Review 33:we only spent 1 night
Review 34:the room is fantastic , the location and the views are awesome , the owner is a lovely chap very friendly , and helpful , we will be going again
Review 35:Would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room. This is a minor detail and in no way upset our bist best b and b I've stayed in.
Review 36:Warm welcome lovely location friendly staff lovely breakfast. in all fantastic place and staff.
Review 37:Breakfast was disappointing Orange juice should be freshly squeezed for £140 a night Hot chocolate was very basic sachet Shower in room was not working as it should
Review 38:Room was nice
Review 39:Loved it really friendly, everything in needed shame wifi didn't stretch to the room but was nice to work from the lounge anyway! Breakfast was amazing 5*****
Review 40:From arrival Sam was really friendly and helpful with great tips and advice about the accommodation and area which was really lovely as it was something I hadn't looked into. The room was clean and had nice little touches and décor, the bed was extremely comfy we both slept so well. If you stay here you really need to visit Samantha for a little spa treatment. After travelling down for a few hours we arranged to have a back massage each and what a real treat it was! Samantha is really friendly and made us feel really comfortable and relaxed I don't think you would be disappointed whatever treatment you chose, I highly recommend her, great service :-) I really can't suggest this place enough, you really won't be disappointed if you stay here. A huge thank-you to Sam and ALL the staff for their friendly, welcoming and helpfulness we received. It really was like staying in a home from home. We will defiantly be coming back hopefully for more than one night next time!
Review 41:Leaving
Review 42:The gardens are beautiful, well kept and a pleasure to be in. The breakfast is fantastic, well cooked, piping hot, very tasty & lots of it Sam is a lovely guy, very informative, friendly and interesting to talk to
Review 43:Lovely breakfast served in a beautiful conservatory overlooking gardens. Sam and the girls were all friendly and happy to give lots of local information.
Review 44:The fact I only booked 1 night. I will definitely be returning to correct that.
Review 45:The instant comfortableness and welcome feeling. As a young couple we often get disregarded or told to keep quiet because people assume we're going to be rowdy when we're actually looking for a quiet romantic get away.
Review 46:Nothing to add here!
Review 47:I loved everything about it! Stunning location, gorgeous views, comfy bed, ultra helpful staff, delicious breakfast, bottles of water in room, plenty of plug sockets.
Review 48:wifi hit & miss but was offered alternative internet access.
Review 49:Very friendly Owner, nothing was too much trouble, very nice room with large bathroom & lovely summer house for superb quality breakfast.
Review 50:Nothing bad but the shower whilst nice and hot lacked power but that is all I can complain about.
Review 51:Offered park tickets with a great saving for longleat. Really clean and well appointed. Nice breakfast room and good information given on the local area for evening food. Breakfast was included and really tasty
Review 52:Difficult to list things which we did not like.... you need a car for sure to stay at Knoll Hill Farm and to go for evening meals at nearby towns like Frome.
Review 53:Knoll Hill Farm is on my favourite list of B&B for the Somerset region, not just because of its lovely, quite location or because it is easy to reach most of Somerset attraction but the owners got that magic touch and makes you feel more than welcome with an excellent comfortable accommodation service. My partner felt in heaven and she quoted that this is really a place to stay! We had one of the large common rooms upstairs, which had the most comfortable bed ever with silky-feel sheets and heavenly soft pillows. Before even go for breakfast, the well-presented ordering system in the room install that feel-good expectation ...and the full English breakfast complete with a variety of cereals, juices and fresh fruits was irresistible. Country fields, decorated gardens and the relaxed atmosphere makes you want to spend time to sit out and just RELAX! What else do you need after a good comfortable sleep and a tasteful breakfast.....for sure it is a PLACE to STAY.
Review 54:Would like to have had a late check out for a Sunday and not have to pay extra, for it ,
Review 55:Friendly staff, excellent cooked breakfast and good choice, nice comfortable room very clean and spacious. loved the out side area.
Review 56:I would recommend Knoll Hill Farm because there was nothing to dislike about the stay. The staff are very helpful with recommending places to eat and attractions for the daytime. The breakfast was great and the rooms are very comfortable.
Review 57:Unable to control heating in the room and hot water temperamental.
Review 58:Clean, comfortable room in pretty surroundings. Food excellent and staff attentive. Good local pubs for dinner.
Review 59:The tv was too small for the room, so not able to see well from the bed and obstructed by the bed post...The noise from the adjoining room with a baby crying, then giggling and chatting from the large family suite made a trying nights sleep. Room 5 the four poster room, was not as comfortable as some others looked.
Review 60:Lovely breakfast and warm welcome, Local pub had excellent food and a short stroll. The family room looked lovely.
Review 61:Our room was in the converted barn. no window only a skylight that didn't open. Breakfast was in edible, so greasy and undercooked. no wif fi in room.
Review 62:Location,scenery.
Review 63:Local pub down road lacked atmosphere and very quiet but found a very nice pub a short drive away , great atmosphere and food .
Review 64:Friendly , clean service
Review 65:They could do with a wee bit more parking as we had to park parallel to the room rather than in the spaces: this is only a concern when they are fully booked.
Review 66:The bed was a King size: perfect! The breakfast was amazing, I totally recommend the porridge it was so good. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The bathroom was great, separate bath and shower.
Review 67:Only criticism is they were obviously having issues with the hot water and couldn't have a shower.
Review 68:Very well kept small hotel, really friendly and helpful staff, room was clean and tidy! Had a great nights sleep, would highly recommend to anyone who wants to stay in the area or have a retreat to the countryside!
Review 69:Either the people in the next room watching the Reading festival till the early hours or the rumoured party in the woods.without this all was perfect.
Review 70:Almost everything
Review 71:Door to our room old and shabby with low headroom and a hazard. Basic furniture with mismatched carpet. Patio Tarmac worn and uneven with dirty coffee table not cleared for three days. Planters around property unattractive with weeds. Largely self-serve breakfast with milk in plastic shop containers and butter in a box in fridge with make your own toast, although cooked breakfast ok and served. Paying nearly £120 per room per night this was definitely not value for money.
Review 72:Lovely rural views and quiet
Review 73:Nothing that did not like
Review 74:A real home from home. Staff, especially Sam, could not have been more welcoming and friendly. Loved the location which feels very peaceful & the features in the room with comfy four poster bed. Cooked breakfast was very tasty. Will definitely wish to stay again if coming back to this area.
Review 75:We disliked very little about our stay, but felt two improvements would make the room even better. Firstly, an additional chair (there was only one provided in a double room) and, secondly, an extra luggage rack as we had several suitcases and bags, most of which had to be on the floor.
Review 76:The peaceful and beautiful rural location was like balm to the soul as this picturesque, spacious Edwardian farmhouse in its well-kept grounds provides both the right touch of comfort in its furnishings and an unexpectedly excellent bed for sound sleep. The delicious, cooked-to-order breakfast also offered much choice. There's plenty to see and do in the surrounding pretty villages, towns and countryside of the south west, and we were spoilt for choice by good pubs, cafes and restaurants.
Review 77:Outstanding breakfast, Comfortable bed, superb waterfall shower, friendly hosts, lots of "extras" of shortbread biscuits, mineral water, herbal tea as well as the usual tea and coffee in our room.. and fresh milk available from the nearby fridge
Review 78:Setting of the B&B was lovely and we were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. The standard of the accommodation was good, we were certainly not disappointed. Overall, this is a great find.
Review 79:Finishing touches need completed.
