Reviews for Morwendon House

Review 1:Everything was perfect.

Review 2:This guest house is a amazing place. Very clean Geoff and Teresa were very welcome, friendly and couldn't make you feel more comfortable and relaxed. The place is in a amazing location the sea views are amazing. The breakfast was fantastic couldn't fault it. Will definitely be booking again.

Review 3:Car parking was very poor, the sea view was from a corner of a small side window, the shower was raised a considerable height off the floor, the bathroom was extremely cramped. It is difficult to understand how this is rated a 4 star accommodation.

Review 4:Being on holiday.

Review 5:Amazing views from bedroom. Lovely seating area in room surrounded with windows looking over the sea. Extremely clean. Every detail thought of. Even had a decanter of sherry in the room. Breakfast/Dining Room and Sitting room all look over the gardens and sea so very restful. Room was very spacious. Very close to Barmouth. Didn't have an evening meal but spoke to another couple at breakfast who had and they said it had been a lovely candlelit experience and the food had been exceptional. Directions given by owners were very clear and had been essential as it was our first visit. Would recommend to anyone. We were not aware of others staying even though there had been other guests. It was very quiet & peaceful and gave us the much needed break we'd planned.

Review 6:We knew that we had booked a small double room, but did not anticipate that the ensuite was a converted cupboard. The bathroom was a health and safety hazard from the potential of slipping over an oversized shower curtain to multiple visible pipes, tepid tap water to scalding hot with no notice and finally to peeling off wallpaper...hence luckily we only stayed one night so went without a shower. The mattress was very uncomfortable and was in need of replacement. The only saving grace was breakfast

Review 7:Breakfast was very good along with the location

Review 8:It was better than it said on the website; location wise for peace but close enough to Barmouth to have plenty of fun; beautifully presented, luxurious and exceptionally clean with wonderful, welcoming and hospitable hosts.

Review 9:Parking a bit fraught, The room ( converted basement), although beautifully done was difficult to access - a walk in the rain to get to breakfast in bad weather. And "garden view" must have been a joke.

Review 10:The view, the welcome, the room.

Review 11:Minor niggles, such as the steep drive into the carpark. The bathroom door of Room 1, sticks, and has to be slammed shut. But our understanding from the owners is that Room 1 is going to have a makeover in the new year.

Review 12:The lounge, dining room and rear patio looking out onto the huge lawn and the majestic ocean. Beautiful sunsets too. proprietors' warm & friendly attention, but without being too overwhelming, Excellent food, especially the evening meals - the steak, pork belly and home-made soup, definitely recommended!

Review 13:Lovely hosts, very helpful. Delicious meals, and very conveniently placed for the coastal train which stopped on request just downhill from the property.

Review 14:We would like darker curtains on the windows.

Review 15:The host are helpful, the view on the sea is astonishing, really cozy rooms. Excellent breakfast, with a lot of choice

Review 16:The owners were very welcoming, the location was stunning as was the property itself. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast which set us up for the day, we would happily go back and stay again, thank you.

Review 17:We loved the location. Fantastic views of the bay. Lovely, comfortable, very clean room. Staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend and will go again.

Review 18:The only downside was that we didn't get a view of the sea, book early!

Review 19:Everything was perfect. The attention to detail made our trip very special. We will be staying there again soon!

Review 20:Could just do with space to hang clothes in that lower room.

Review 21:Ground floor/basement room very cosy. Sitting up in bed with a little glimpse of the sea was fab. The owners were warm & welcomING. Breakfast superb. Lovely stay

Review 22:The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful even running us into town to catch a bus. The food was delicious we had a lovely evening meal as well as breakfast. The room was very comfortable

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:Location excellent! Views fabulous! Excellent quality ingredients with good cooking skills! Fluffy large towels with crisp linen! Small shower space but adequate and did not spoil the overall five night break. Evening meal option! Dvd library. Sherry and chocolates in room ! Friendly and helpful staff with attention to detail!

Review 25:Sadly I was told a week before my stay that due to illness dinners would not be available (although light suppers would be); 'normal service' would be resumed on recovery. Breakfast experience tempts me to book in for a couple of days on my next visit to Wales - probably in September.

Review 26:Very welcoming and helpful. Excellent breakfasts. Carless and with limited mobility, my stay was planned around rail travel. I was delighted to be offered lifts to/from Barmouth station on wet and windy days - no charge made!

Review 27:Nothing wrong with the bed but it was a little hard for us as we are spoilt at home with a memory foam mattress.

Review 28:Stayed for dinner as well as breakfast and both were very tasty and well cooked

Review 29:The food was amazing and the owners were lovely. It is a lovely place to stay. Would recommend this place to anyone. Having a evening meal there is a must.

Review 30:All great

Review 31:Theresa & Geoff excellent hosts .Very engaging & informative .Nothing was too much trouble Awesome experience &  added to the enjoyment of our short break.

Review 32:The shower in room 5 is very restricted and needs a longer hose in order to be able to get properly clean. It is understood that this room is due to be completely overhauled soon.

Review 33:The hospitality and little touches like changing the dining tables round each day so that all guests have a chance to enjoy the sea view, also the flask of fresh milk in the bedroom each day for tea making.@

Review 34:For the room we stayed in and the price of the food I thought the price was a little over the odds compared to other comparative places we have stayed at. This is highly subjective though and as I say everything else was faultless.

Review 35:Wonderful location, very nice accommodation tastefully decorated. Friendly owners.

Review 36:Bed a little too firm but this is very subjective and what suits one may not suit the other, as they say. To complain would have been petty and wasn't detrimental to the holiday experience.

Review 37:Awesome breakfast. Expertly cooked and presented. Complimentary tea and coffee in room with yummy Bronte biscuits.

Review 38:Went for the attic room which was a bit of a squeeze but suited our one night stay. Shower not great. But have stayed before in a different room and this was not an issue.

Review 39:Price of rooms too high .You can easily get a 4 star hotel with all facilities for this price. But it was still a lovely house with very friendly hosts who really wanted to make your time there enjoyable and comfortable

Review 40:Rooms decorated to a high standard Super Breakfast Great hosts, very accommodating Very Clean

Review 41:We very much enjoyed our stay in Morwedon House. The room was very comfortable and very clean. Teresa and Geoff are nice&friendly. And the breakfast - the best breakfast we have ever had. I would recommend this B&B to everyone. Thank you very much.

Review 42:Fantastic little B&B on the outskirts of Barmouth. Very friendly and warm greeting. Felt safe and well looked after throughout our stay - the breakfast was beautiful!

Review 43:When we arrived we were greater at the door and invited in. Immediately we felt welcome. The host had called us in the week previous to inform us that we had booked the smallest room, although the room was small, it was comfortable, had a fantastic view and was large enough for the both of us. I would definately recommend this B & B and look forward to returning.

Review 44:Me and my partner stayed in for one night and regret not staying for longer. Lovely services and a lovely bedroom with a fantastic view. The special request with the sparkling wine and chocolates made the experience all the more romantic. Would definitely come back!

Review 45:Geoff and Teresa are fantastic hosts. We stayed there for 2 nights, we arrived on my birthday and was greeted to a box of Milk Tray and a card on the bed in our room, which I thought was a lovely touch. We didn't sample the dinner menu but the breakfasts were fantastic. The location of house is fantastic with stunning views. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 46:Was upgraded which was unexpected great sea views very warm welcome had some nice little touches as wine & chocolate excellent choice for breakfast

Review 47:A very warm welcome, we were upgraded at no extra charge to a fabulous superior room with a wonderful sea view, the room was large and very comfortable. The breakfast was superb and the owners attention to detail was brilliant.

Review 48:shower was far to small in room three,tv in room did not move round so you could watch it in bed bedside light did not woke (reported it )did not get fixt ,parking was very poor and getting back onto the main road take a chance

Review 49:breakfast was very good ,service up to standard .

Review 50:This guest house is in the perfect location. We were upgraded to a beautiful room where we good sit with an amazing view over the sea and sunsets. We were only metres from the beach and enjoyed the quiet location just outside Barmouth itself. We received a warm welcome, excellent food and felt well looked after throughout our stay. We would certainly consider returning and will be recommending this guest house to our friends.

Review 51:Comfortable bed, quiet, restful, extremely hospitable hosts. Wonderful breakfast, locally sourced food. Wonderful views from the dining room over cardigan bay.

Review 52:Top rooms rather cramped, but that's a small (no pun intended) inconvenience if only staying odd nights - 3, or more nights would need more room to spread out. Perhaps the two top-floor rooms should be knocked back into one to match the rooms on other floors.

Review 53:Being well catered for - the food was "first-class". Peaceful, tranquil location with sea views, and central Wales was within an easy drive in any direction. Mine hosts were just that; there when needed, else it was just like being at home.

Review 54:The top room we were in was a bit cramped. However severe informed of the size of the room before we booked it. This was just a minor inconvenience compared to the advantages

Review 55:The location, friendliness, quality and comfort is all you want from this accommodation. The view over the bay is breathtaking and the food cannot be faulted. Definitely one of the best B&B's I have stayed in!

Review 56:Nothing to dislike.

Review 57:The uninterrupted sea view was fabulous. The house was spotlessly clean, quiet and well presented. Food great, worth booking a table for evening meal. A good hearty breakfast with a good choice. Teresa and Geoff were excellent hosts, with a great knowledge of the area. We were very happy with our stay.

Review 58:offered an evening meal

Review 59:We arrived on 27 August for a 3 night stay to a warm friendly welcome from Terresa the hostess, who showed us our small room at the the top of the house. We had made a late booking and told that it was small with sloping ceiling so new what to expect. The room was clean with a small on-suit shower room. Comfortable and quite adequate for the 3 nights we were staying. We were offered the option of an evening meal if we wished but did not want to tie ourselves to any set plan so did not use this facility.Breakfast at Morwendon House is excellent a good range of choices and quite sufficient to see you through the day (sausages a great). Geoff the other host served us, nothing to much trouble and would stay again.

Review 60:Wifi didn’t work well in garden room, but I just went into the lounge instead and it worked fine. Was not much space to hang clothes, and can’t fit my dress in so had to hang on door. There was plenty of draw space though. These wouldn't stop us going back though. Just a couple minor things. Overall not really any negatives.

Review 61:Had a lovely stay here. Room was spotlessly clean and tidy. Stayed in the garden room which had direct access to the patio and sea views, which was breath taking. So beautiful and relaxing. Breakfast was amazing, very nice and plenty offered. The hosts were lovely people and made sure we had everything we need. The bed was very comfortable, the first comfy bed I’ve stayed in. TV in room worked well (as had problems with other places before). Wished we had stayed longer. Our short break was wonderful here. Overall a very good hotel, looking forward to coming back sometime. Thanks.

Review 62:The welcome was lovely, as we walked into our room the smell was fresh , nothing was to much trouble, 5* breakfast everthing was catered for our needs would recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

Review 63:The Attic room was small and roof line resulted in a few hits to the head. It was the most expensive B & B we stayed in of our 14 days travelling in GB

Review 64:Staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of good advice about the area and places to dine out. Small maintenance item attended to promptly. Breakfast room & Lounge were excellent with great sea views.

Review 65:Restaurants in Barmouth (lots of tourists) or Tal-y-Bont (recommended: "Tony's") only accessible by car or train; attic room really pretty tight and low (we knew before from the description, so no lower rating because of that)

Review 66:Great location with stunning sea views; spacious lounge and lovely terrace with panoramic views; car park at the house; very friendly, helpful hostess; excellent breakfast 'á la carte' served by the landlord; walking distance to the beach in 5 minutes, but only usable at low tide (flooded at high tide); train stop in the immediate vicinity (but runs only every 2 hours)

Review 67:WiFi didn t work easily Room with view was rather limited view, only by stretching out on the bed Hard to find an available place to eat in the evening, you have to ask reservation in advance by the host!

Review 68:Marvellous location Very friendly hosts Very good breakfast Very lovely terrace Free park place near the house

Review 69:Wish we had gone for a room with a full sea view.

Review 70:Excellent location, friendly hosts, very clean and comfortable. Morwendon House is very well placed to enjoy both the coast and scenery in North Wales. The breakfasts were great, perfectly cooked and a good choice.

Review 71:All good

Review 72:A beautiful guest house and tastefully decorated. Host were exceptionally helpful and friendly. I loved the tranquility and peacefulness of our bedroom and lounge. Thanks Geoff and Teresa for a fabulous 2 night stay....we will be back for more. Cath and Wayne

Review 73:Wifi not reliable in our room, though OK in visitors' lounge. No reception for our mobile (not the hotel's fault of course)

Review 74:Excellent breakfast, friendly couple running the place. Comfortable, clean, white-painted room on lower ground floor. Fantastic views over Cardigan Bay. Easy access on foot to long, clean, sandy beach with only a few other people using it. Fantastic terrace. Wonderful base for exploring Snowdonia and the coast, also the Centre for Alternative technology near Machynlleth.

Review 75:Location is beautiful, stunning views over the bay. The food is outstanding, no value range goods purchased here!! Teresa and Geoff were very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back for a return visit

Review 76:The wonderful location aside, Geoff and Teresa were excellent hosts. The room was comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was superb and the evening was spent with a glass of wine watching the sun set over Cardigan Bay. We will no doubt be back!

Review 77:The guesthouse was spotlessly clean and very professionally run by friendly owners. The quality of the breakfast was excellent. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

Review 78:Nothing.

Review 79:Lovely hotel, beautiful room with great sea views and a really good breakfast.
