Reviews for Le Souleil'Or

Review 1:The hotel was in a beautiful location set back from the main road. The hotel was comfortable and the staff were friendly. Loved that you could store your bike in a convenient, secure room.

Review 2:limited restuarant menu choices having to access pool through dining area would have liked a running machine in fitness room instead of stepper - personal choice

Review 3:Spacious comfortable room, well situated, free unlimited wifi fitness room and pool

Review 4:Loved this place! Perfect location, wonderful views, great staff and overall a really comfortable stay. Hotel is really nicely decorated and cosy with great bar and restaurant. Would definitely come back.

Review 5:breakfast ended quite early for a weekend (by 9:30?) Dinner is only served 'til 9 pm - sharp.

Review 6:Location was good - central to downtown but away from the noise. The pool and view are amazing. Great breakfast. Cozy bed and nice sized rooms

Review 7:The electronic keys didn't always work first time. There are no rooms for single occupancy available on Booking.com.

Review 8:Very good location beside the piste. Great selection at breakfast. We appreciated the hot tub after a day's skiing. Very quiet, comfortable beds and nicely decorated rooms..

Review 9:The wifi is pretty bad - doesn't stay connected and you frequently have to re-login. Hardly a big problem but it's frustrating. No drying room (putting on damp ski boots is no fun), but again, no big deal. The room is a little small (especially the toilet) but you're mainly there for the location.

Review 10:Location was great, very central in the town and right on the snow (although you will have to walk a few minutes to some of the bigger lifts). Breakfast was very nice, and the decor is good.

Review 11:The hotel needed updating. The room was expensive and tiny and the bathroom was a nightmare. We paid for half board, having already had to pay a cancellation fee for the two nights we were not able to stay they moved us to a half board room (which I had not realised) then we were told what we could eat for supper! and as I am allergic to wheat it meant I could only eat a quarter of what I was given. Would not recommend it.

Review 12:The breakfast was very good.

Review 13:Hotel a little dated and the Hotel Manager was unhelpful at times and very money focused with a bully attitude towards her staff.

Review 14:Location to the slopes

Review 15:Not enough heating in the ski locker. The ski boots were still wet in the mornings.

Review 16:Perfect location 1 min to the nearest lift and 5 min to the center. Quite big, comfortable, warm and modern rooms. Free jacuzzi and wet sauna. Good breakfasts and incredible evening meals. Helpful staff (even agreed to bring us to the bus station at the last day to get the bus to Grenoble!). Certainly will stay again if come back to L2A.

Review 17:Free Wi-fi was a bit slow and intermittent, but not a big problem.

Review 18:Great location. High quality standards - very clean and tidy. Really nice french meals with good variety and caterered well for specific dietry requests (I am gluten free and others in the party strongly dislike fish). Good value for money. Very pleasent and friendly staff that did their jobs very efficiently and always put the customer first.

Review 19:- Rooms were a little small, e.g. entrance to toilet - Reconnect to wifi required after inactivity and relatively slow connection - 'Spa' was little disappointing, cold jacuzzi - Breakfast so-so, we don't understand why guest have to boil their own eggs in strange/dangerous machine with boiling water

Review 20:- Location, right on the slopes and close to restaurants in town - Cleanliness of room - Free parking in front of hotel - Friendly staff

Review 21:we were half board so no choice with the menu - not a problem for us but the if the children (10 & 13) didn't fancy the menu then the only choice was either chicken goujons or steak hache (both home-made and tasty) but a pasta choice would have been good as well

Review 22:The food was fantastic, staff exceptionally friendly and hotel room clean and comfortable. The jacuzzi looked great but we forgot our swimmers!

Review 23:We didn't like our room: it looked old and in need of freshening up. Water drained properly neither in the sink nor in the tub. There was an unpleasant smell coming up from the common toilet facilities in the basement all the way to the upper floors. The beds weren't comfortable, especially the bunk beds where the kids slept. We stayed at better 3-star hotels in Paris, Amboise, and Nice for the same price within the same two-week period, and unlike the other destinations, August isn't a high season in Les Deux Alpes.

Review 24:The hotel is in a beautiful spot offering breathtaking views and is close to center of town. We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. The owners and staff were very helpful and tried to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Breakfast was also good, although we slept late due to jet lag and some items would not be available at the end of the breakfast time.

Review 25:Decor was a little dated and family room was a squeeze but fine for a few nights.

Review 26:Great location, right in the centre of the village, close to bike / ski hire & lifts. Food was excellent and staff attentive. Good value.

Review 27:Hotel was lovely. Staff were lovely and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

Review 28:Excellent hotel Superb food Great location

Review 29:Perfect half board meals served by a team of passionate people!

Review 30:lovely place tostay and great views friendly helpful staff

Review 31:Nothing

Review 32:Great Jacuzzi!!!! Nice rooms, friendly staff

Review 33:excellent food, beverages, music with lovely singer in the lobby bar, near to the lift and lovely view

Review 34:Absolutely nothing...

Review 35:Great food, staff, location.

Review 36:poor entertainment in bar not needed

Review 37:being able to ski right to the door

Review 38:great ski to door and really close slope and lift access easy to park

Review 39:The owners were extremely rude and unwelcoming. Would never go back, despite the hotel itself being really nice

Review 40:Small bathroom and toilet.... Just is!

Review 41:Staff helpful

Review 42:Breakfast limited range. Small size croissants. 6 types of jam but no strawberrie? no pain aux chocolat?

Review 43:Location, interior design nice alpine theme

Review 44:Drinks at the bar are expensive.

Review 45:Great food, located right next to the slopes and ski lifts, comfortable rooms. Liked the jacuzzi. Attentive staff. Clean rooms. Nice views.

Review 46:Might be slightly pricey?

Review 47:Location is amazing, rooms are very nice and the views from the windows are breath-taking. Staff is very nice and restaurant is very good. Live jazz on Thursday is a bonus ;)

Review 48:Intermittant Wifi

Review 49:Brilliantly positioned for skiing and town. No frills but very comfortable, clean rooms with a great outlook to the mountains or slopes. Delicious and interesting dinners. Extremely helpful and friendly staff, particularly the owner. Very good value for money

Review 50:- hotel decoration is a bit outdated and bathroom needs a refurbishment

Review 51:- great location, you can ski to the hotel from the slopes - amazing food! the best cheese fondue we ever had!

Review 52:10 o'clock closure of front door, lack of atmosphere in hotel bar.

Review 53:Location is excellent, close to the slopes, quiet at night - rooms big enough, clean, enough parking.

Review 54:Although ski and boot storage are very good, there is no place to service, or wax your own skis.

Review 55:Very friendly staff without being over the top. Great location. Easy to use free wifi. Clean. Good value an I would rate at the top of the scale for 3star accommodation.

Review 56:-We had a room with 3 beds - the 3rd bed was smaller & not as comfortable as the main beds. -Need more staff at breakfast.

Review 57:-Excellent food. -Staff could be more friendly but were professional. -Very Very clean- excellent!

Review 58:We stayed 6 nights and the breakfast service winded down 30 minutes before the official time. The fruit selection was unripe every day and the croissants were often old.

Review 59:The view was gorgeous and the beds very comfortable. Great wifi! Very friendly bar and restaurant staff! Excellent homade jams.

Review 60:The rooms are starting to look a little dated!

Review 61:Excellent food, attentive staff, great location and very comfortable room. All that is required to make a week ski holiday very enjoyable.

Review 62:The rooms are small, the beds are very small and the covers smaller still. Very expensive.

Review 63:The location is fantastic. The staff were charming, attentive and good humoured (and put up with my bad French). The facilities were first rate and the breakfast was the best I've had in the Alpes; one of the best in a French hotel.

Review 64:No clothes washing facilities, had to use the laundromat No minibar fridge

Review 65:Stayed for seven days from the start the Parisian school holidays at thebeginning of March with my 18 year old son who is studying in Paris. Weboth enjoyed the hotel very much and can vouch for all the positivereviews. We had a mountain view room on the first floor which wasperfect and worth the extra premium. We also had the half board package. The daily formule menu was excellent and varied throughout the week. This included a couple of buffet nights such as buffet entree and buffetdesert. The 4-5 course menu set you up well for the following daysskiing. The staff was quite relaxed about conversing in English eventhough our French was sufficient to get by. They were very helpful onthe last day offering to hold our bags until we left and offerred usshower facilities after the day's skiing. For Australians thecuisine was a fabulous experience and in spite of all the food wemanaged to lose weight over the week. Perhaps it was the green saladthat was optional with the main or it could have been the skiing andactivity. The location was good and near to ski rental facilitiesalthough the best ski rental is to be had in the heart of the villagesuch as Dode sports (twinner) which was a five minute walk away. We hadprebooked our ski rental but this was a mistake and you're betteroff shopping around once you get there. We need race skis and these werenot available close to the hotel. You could get to the gondola quiteeasily by skiing to the pomma and then skiing to the gondola. This wasthe quickest way of getting to the top of the mountain. At the end ofthe day you could ski straight back to the hotel. Ski and boot lockersare provided which will accommodate a couple of pairs of skis and bootsbut there's no separate drying room which didn't seem to matterin the end as it never really rained except for a little on one day.

Review 66:The bedroom was a bit too hot so had to sleep with the door open a bit but other than that it was perfect!

Review 67:Our stay here at the beginning of March 2013 was fantastic! The location of the hotel at the foot of the mountains was perfect for an easy, relaxing ski holiday. The hotel was cosy, superbly clean and very well presented - definitely the best 3star hotel we've ever stayed in (and we usually only go for 4stars!). Our room (14) was a generous size with good balcony, the mountain view was spectacular, and the housekeeping staff kept the rooms cleaned very well. The waiting staff were courteous, friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Every evening we had a beautiful 4 course meal. We used the jacuzzi and steam room on a few occasions which were great after a hard day on the slopes. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Review 68:needs a changing room for the jacuzzi

Review 69:Very friendly staff always helpful. very clean and spotless all over the hotel and well cared for. Excellent position on the slopes with a very short walk to the lifts (20 metres).

Review 70:Drinks a bit expensive.

Review 71:Great location - right next to the slopes and lifts and close enough to walk to the main shopping and eating areas if necessary. Really great food, with a different menu for each of the 6 nights we stayed. Four or five courses of great food every night. Really clean and very well maintained. Very friendly staff. Really liked the steam room and jacuzzi - used them almost every night. Really comfortable beds. Will stay again.

Review 72:There is nothing to dislike about this hotel except for having to leave

Review 73:Excellent staff and facilities the most friendly ski hotel I have ever stayed at. Great valu, super bar staff. We will be back next year with family

Review 74:Some noise from drunken guests returning late (not really the hotel's fault)

Review 75:We're annual visitors to Deux Alpes and spent a weekend (3 nights) here in January 2013 having last used this hotel in January 2010. It is very close to the slopes (Belle Etoile chair is 50m away) with an easy walk from the ski room. A warm welcome, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast. Good restaurants nearby if you choose B&B.

Review 76:Nothing!

Review 77:Outstanding hotel - the owners have done an amazing job. fabulous attention to detail, happy helpful staff, great dinners, and possibly the cleanest place I have ever stayed in.

Review 78:Our room was too hot at night (no thermostat in room) so we had to sleep with the balcony door open and felt it was a waste of heating!

Review 79:Everything it was a brilliant stay the staff couldn't have been more friendly or accomodating. Our daughter is in Les Deux Alpes for 5 months and she came and had breakfast and dinner with us. We had no problems with the language they all spoke good english. Food fantastic not your usual hotel but more like a good restaurant. I would recommend to anyone, we had a room over the slopes the better rooms are over the mountains but all brilliant.

Review 80:Location is excellent, on the edge of town so away from noise. We booked a superior double (mountain views & balcony), well worth it but bear in mind these rooms are on the fourth floor (lift only to the third floor which wasn't a problem for us). We took mountain bikes and security / storage is excellent. The hotel pool is small but location / views are stunning. Parking was no problem and right outside hotel. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. We are going back to this hotel next year and staying longer this time!

Review 81:No kettle for tea and coffee in room.

Review 82:Good food. Late dinner if you have kids, 7.30. Excellent location forskiing in/out. Nice bar. Quiet location.

Review 83:We have stayed at the hotel before and its location for the skiing isexcellent. We do not find the owner and his wife particularly friendly, but there was a helpful lady on the reception desk who always smiled andmade us feel welcome. The food is good and plentiful, but this year wedecided to go bed and breakfast and found there are some greatrestaurants around the area.

Review 84:The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was very good. The location is excellent and the hotel is very close to the sky lifts. The view from the rooms is fantastic.

Review 85:The waiters and waitresses in general do not seem to like their job or... diplomatically said: just like the local French people better. For a3 star hotel I found it quite embarrassing to be told that the 2ndespresso during breakfast would be charged extra. Breakfast in generalis like "day and night" with the dinner in the evening. Some ideas:fresh crepes, fresh baked bread that you can cut yourself, scrambledeggs, fresh orange juice, a coffee machine - where you can make your owncappuccino, double espresso etc., some "bubbles" - whatever ... Thetotal price for our 1 week stay (7 nights) was 2.5k€ - as our little boyof 5 was charged at 70%. He did eat and drink a 10% though ... so thisseems to be very expensive. Furthermore he did not have a hot drink inthe morning whilst the 2nd espresso for his dad was charged ...

Review 86:Excellent location - very near to the ski slopes. Less than 5 minuteswalk to the slope where my little boy received his first "flocon" ski-lessons. Dinner is very nice. One warning though when travelling with 2young kids (5 years and 1 1/2 year old) - it does take approximate 2hours to eat the 4-5 courses. The kids get annoyed and are very tired atthe end as dinner starts at 7.30pm.

Review 87:Our stay at Le Souleil'Or was excellent. The hotel is well appointed with super easy access to the ski lifts. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We took half board and were not disappointed with the evening meal. It was fantastic and the breakfast was substantial catering for all needs. We will be staying again.

Review 88:If you are not half board and want something to eat in the evening youcan only have the set menu. A bar supper menu would be good.

Review 89:I have stayed in many 3* ski resort hotels and I would say this wasdefinately one of the best. The rooms are spacious, clean with verycomfortable beds and the bathroom is modern. The hotel has a lovely feeland the food is very good. The location is superb with ski in/out.

Review 90:No complaints at all (and that's unusual for us!).

Review 91:Location was great - set back away from busy main street of Les Deux Alpes, but on slopes and genuinely ski in / ski-out. The hotel is small and very comfortable, rooms were spacious enough for 2 teenagers to spread out! Lovely hotel bar with occasional live music. Food is 3/4 set courses with one course usually being a buffet and we found it to be excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

Review 92:1st floor rooms above the kitchens can be noisy at meal times .

Review 93:Fantastic friendly staff, great location for Skiiing from outside the hotel door .Highly recommended .

Review 94:The only thing I can honestly find fault with is that the lighting in the bedroom was quite poor and that the bath could have been bigger. (or maybe I should be smaller!!)

Review 95:Le Soleil'Or is a beautiful family run hotel which is in a great location for hitting the slopes. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and nicely decorated and the staff are all exceptionally hospitable. Restaurant and bar facilities are also very good and the food is of a very high quality. It is not a budget hotel but it is perfect for those of us who don't want to stay all day on the piste and who require a bit of comfort and pampering on our ski breaks.

Review 96:Great food and bar, lovely spa, friendly staff. Really enjoyed mystay. Perfect location for skiing with great facilities eg skilockers, next to ski lifts and lesson meeting point. Booking systemfor spa meant never crowded. Would deinately stay here again if Ireturn to Les Deux Alpes.

Review 97:Booked double rooms, but was then charged extra for having two people in them!

Review 98:Good hotel, clean rooms and decent breakfast.

Review 99:The food was perfect, the best we've ever have in France. Very good location.

Review 100:Great hotel, good location (ski to the door), clean, comfortable and good breakfast.

Review 101:room was a bit cramped due to unnecessary bunk beds

Review 102:Great location for skiing Very friendly and helpful staff Food good

Review 103:We had a very comfortable stay. The food in the restaurant was excellent

Review 104:amazing food lovely bedrooms jacuzzi very nice staff

Review 105:Staff was not that friendly and rooms were small and dark!

Review 106:Nothing to rave about!

Review 107:no view of near mountains from room

Review 108:sunstantial breakfasts pool facing mountains helpful staff

Review 109:The hotel was made very relaxing and welcoming by the staff. The outside pool was immaculate and outdoor dinning was of superb quality.

Review 110:Quiet location Spectacular views Nice heated outdoor pool in the summer Secure bike storage Good parking Great sleep quality

Review 111:Excellent breakfast, location.

Review 112:Ski lift and liift pass officce just behind the hotel, great breakfast ,nice staff .

Review 113:No shower curtain

Review 114:Hamam Restaurant

Review 115:Food deteriorated during the week Expensive

Review 116:Location

Review 117:Food was excellent. Staff were very pleasant and attentive.

Review 118:lack of gondolas/chairlifts green piste - demoiselles - terribly crowded.

Review 119:high glacier slopes ski right to the door of hotel lovely resort

Review 120:All of the staffs were friendly, kindness and exellent hospitality.

Review 121:Excellent position (close to the skilift and few steps to the centre). Clean, fresh. Rich breakfast.

Review 122:Food was not what we expected from reading reviews, a little too fancyand didn't taste great.

Review 123:Bathroom with no shower and very small for such a good hotel

Review 124:Very well placed, location extremely good. Swimming pool very well maintained.
