Reviews for Hotel Quai de Saone

Review 1:The hotelowner did not think it is necassary to greet the arriving guests personally but placed the keys somewhere. It was said that he would not get up from his nap for 3 guests arriving.... We found the keys only after we had called him via cellphone. He definitely has to change bis attitude!!!

Review 2:Our room was on the backyard, in the evening up to around 23h00, and in the morning starting from around 9h00, we could here a strong noise. I guess it was the kitchen of the restaurant. However I guess if you have another room that would not be a problem.

Review 3:The hotel is close to the river, that's pretty nice. Rooms are fairly big, clean and comfortable. It's an excellent price/quality ratio.

Review 4:Cramped, wifi was poor, bathroom was not comfortable, and no climate control meant it was very stuffy.

Review 5:Great location if you want to be bang in the centre of things

Review 6:Staff . Not helpful and were rude.NO Air conditioning in 40 degree heat. Not even a fan. No lift with a very narrow stairway.Breakfast we weremade to sit in the sun, even though there were many other empty tablesand we were the only people at breakfast. The waitress was without doubtthe rudest we have encounteted in Europe. To top it off we were invoicednot only for our rooms ,but were charged an unauthorised fee of €396that was someone else's room that we had already disputed at time ofcheckout. The employee apologised and reassured that the transaction didnot go through.... Not happy.

Review 7:Location. But was the worst house in the best street.

Review 8:Hotel charged for parking which we couldn't use as we had a roofbox on the car. We parked in an outdoor car park and the car was towed away and impounded over night!

Review 9:Reasonable price

Review 10:No one there when I arrived. Had to get the keys from the restaurant next door and let myself in. Was hoping for a friendly welcome after a 10 hour drive. The room was like an oven, very uncomfortable, why no fan?? The window only opened 1 inch

Review 11:The position of the hotel was perfect, right by the riverside and restaurants, parking easy just across the road

Review 12:Access to the rooms thru a narrow stairway. Very inconvenient for those with disabilities or heavy luggage.

Review 13:Room recently renovated. Bathroom clean and good Internet connection.

Review 14:I received a text message telling me the reception would be closed when we arrived and that the key to our room would be at a nearby restaurant. First member of staff at restaurant knew nothing of this arrangement. Fortunately another member of staff intervened and found the key. The entrance to the hotel was down a dark, unlit alley. I couldn't find the lights and had some trouble negotiating a series of locks. Not a good welcome. It was a hot night and we needed the windows open - the noise from traffic and people in restaurants below was intense ... not much sleep. My husband found someone in reception the next morning who made some comment about it not having been worth her while coming to work that morning as we were not having breakfast. She was not very pleasant. There is parking nearby but there is nowhere to pull in outside the hotel so you do need to be prepared to carry your bags. There is also major building work going on next door so it could be noisy for the foreseeable future. This seems like a hotel in decline that can't really be bothered anymore. Fine if you are on a budget and don't expect much - otherwise, look for other options. A good, friendly welcome from staff costs the hotel nothing - this place has no interest in making you feel welcome.

Review 15:Reasonably priced, clean and on street with a number of restaurants with a good view across the river.

Review 16:Room above outdoor eating area, which meant smoke drifted up into windows which had to be open as it was hot. Horrendous traffic and people noise until about 4am. Car park nearby has market on Saturday morning so no parking from 2300hrs Friday night. Reception didnt open until 1800 and not 1700 as in details.

Review 17:Lovely view of river. Clean comfortable family room with travel cot for toddler as requested.

Review 18:Room was very spartan, breakfast served by a young lady who really didn't want to be there. Parking was difficult. We ended up parking up near the church on the hill and walking for 15 mins with suitcases.

Review 19:Location excellent, very comfy beds, excellent shower in wet room style bathroom. Welcoming manager on arrival.

Review 20:Our booking said we were at the front with river views and that the staff spoke English. Our room was at the back and up to midnight the noise from a kitchen fan was horrific, our daughter is autistic and sensitive to noise this was horrendous! We had to have the window open due to the heat. Tried to take this up earlier and change rooms with the staff but NO ONE spoke Any English (or so they said) Same experience with the restaurant keep walking further along to find much cheaper better for money. If this was a premier Inn we would be refunded as we did not have a good nights sleep and it was not what we thought it would be. Shame as room size and cleanliness good.

Review 21:Lovely size room with a greaT bathroom

Review 22:Parking is an issue, but it was Saturday night. The breakfast lady was particularly grumpy and late, but the breakfast was good - for France!

Review 23:The bath - it was heaven to have a long hot bath after a week on a yacht, on passage to the Mediterranean via the Rhone. The hotel location was good for us as we were driving home and needed a stopover north of Lyon. The restaurant was very good and friendly, but not nice fronting on to the main road.

Review 24:the rooms are little bit small.

Review 25:nice hotel in a very good location, very clean and not very expensive

Review 26:low on communication, never received answer on my email...

Review 27:Location

Review 28:Good town centre location with convenient parking

Review 29:Clean, convenient, good shower, reasonable rate. Chilled drinking water included.

Review 30:Several restaurants and bars just outside the hotel.

Review 31:Arrived early afternoon and couldn't check in till 6pm.

Review 32:Good location

Review 33:Everithing

Review 34:Le Lamartin closest restaurant - they have excellent bourgogne cuisine

Review 35:I really loved the location of that place

Review 36:Price

Review 37:none

Review 38:1. Free parking lot just nearby 2. Good crêpe restaurent nearbt 3. Samedi Marche

Review 39:Could do with extra pillows

Review 40:The hotel is located above a bet restaurant, and the good is very good. Parking available more or less opposite the hotel

Review 41:Almost everything.

Review 42:The staff were not friendly or inviting. The room looked very good but there was no air conditioning in the room and it was 33 degrees. When we opened the window the room was facing the main road and was busy with traffic. We had very little sleep. Their restaurant was more expensive than many others we saw, so we did not use it.

Review 43:Bad position on a busy road. It was a bit of a nightmare establishing where to park.

Review 44:We were given a room at the back which was very quiet. Wonderful evening meal. Very handy for the river once parked!

Review 45:First time I stayed reception was closed and I was emailed on the day to tell me to go to a nearby restaurant to get the key and let myself in. As I had booked weeks before it would have been nice to have been informed of this much earlier. Two weeks later when I stayed reception didn't open at 5pm as stated so I had to phone to find out what to do. I probably won't bother with this hotel again.

Review 46:I was booked in for a Sunday night ( in spite of the booking being made weeks before ) I was not told by email on the day I was scheduled to arrive that I would have to go to a cafe a few doors away to get the key to my room .and the hotel. On next visit I arrived at 17.00 hrs , when according to the info from booking.com, reception was open to find that it wasn't.

Review 47:Rather surly breakfast staff. Definitely need to speak French

Review 48:Superb location right next to the river. Good restaurant. Excellent stop over for a trip to the Alps. Good breakfast

Review 49:Fire Alarm went off early in the morning. Not sure if it was the bread toaster or someone smoking. No real fire!

Review 50:We stayed one night. Great value and location.

Review 51:Had a problem booking in because we were the only guests and reception was shut. However one quick phone call to Booking.com and they called us back within 5 minutes letting us know the key and instructions were left at a nice friendly bar 30 metres away.

Review 52:The location for an overnight stop was excellent. Lovely restaurants on the door step. Parking opposite free overnight.

Review 53:All the negative comments from other guests under reviews. What do people expect for that amount of money. There are lots of lovely bakers around the corner and cafes for a good cafe au lait!!

Review 54:Very local, easy to find, friendly and helpful owners.

Review 55:No lift.

Review 56:The hotel has recently been renovated and all facilities are modern. The location is very central and convenient. The restaurant is first class.

Review 57:When we arrived there was no one to see us in and found by phoning the owner that our keys to the hotel was in an adjacent cafe. We had to let ourselves in and cater for ourselves. Not a place to arrive on a Sunday.

Review 58:The room, once accessed was good with modern facilities.

Review 59:no lounge/ communal area in hotel, not a hotel i would want to base a holiday at,

Review 60:value for money, accomodating staff, food, location of hotel, good as stop-over hotel

Review 61:There are only nine rooms and mine was on the second floor, reached by an extremely narrow staircase. The room was tiny with a window giving on to a roof. It was unbearably hot and there was no air conditioning. There was a jazz concert going on outside so it was very noisy until midnight.

Review 62:The food and service in the restaurant were very good. The bed was fairly comfortable. The location is good, right on the river Saone.

Review 63:Room small and cramped. Not possible to check in before 6pm.

Review 64:Newly renovated room with very comfortable bed and spacious shower. Excellent position overlooking river. Good restaurant.

Review 65:Registration Problems 1. Hotel locked -- had to phone while using hazardflashers -- nowhere to pull in while waiting . 2. Parking ticket sold byHotel (public underground car-park ) was not recognised the next morning- a Sunday ! We were locked inside an unmanned carpark & had to finda button to push to be ,eventually , allowed out !

Review 66:Location ; Restaurant ; Friendly staff ; Value for money .

Review 67:The bedroom and bathroom were utilitarian. There was supposed to be a view of the river. The bedroom overlooked another house at very close proximity. The hotel was completely locked up at 07:30 when we had ordered our breakfast. Another client had been waiting since 07:00. Breakfast when it came was awful. Stale croissants and no plates!

Review 68:The restaurant was very good. I would describe the hotel as a restaurant with functional bedrooms.

Review 69:Difficult to find, especially at night. The hotel is above it's ownrestaurant, the Cardine. This is not made clear in the prebookinginformation. It took 45 minutes to find the hotel, even after askingseveral locals.

Review 70:Setting across the road from the beautiful Saone river

Review 73:Breakfast was a bit basic.

Review 74:Good location, easy to find, easy close parking, very clean, comfy bed.

Review 75:As above.

Review 76:Difficult getting in. No one at reception for 3 hrs. Stairs very narrow and steep with luggage.

Review 77:Breakfast with croissants and coffee felt a bit on the spartan side

Review 78:Friendly staff; excellent location with views over the river; nice, clean rooms

Review 79:Parking a little disTANT

Review 80:Poor breakfast fo the price paid

Review 81:Fantastic room well above expectation and the restaurant was exceptional.the position of the hotel was very good

Review 82:No parking available, unhelpful registration hours

Review 83:Great restaurant, excellent location, v friendly staff, very good value

Review 84:Dingy reception, no lifts, the room was very basic, breakfast was pretty average. There is no parking

Review 85:Not much

Review 86:noisy road at front of hotel

Review 87:great value for money, adjoining rooms ideal for family. very clean and tidy, comfortable beds.
