Reviews for The Old Bath Arms Hotel

Review 1:No bad experience at all but only thing we forgot to mention when we stayed the light bulb had gone in the Hollywood room bathroom

Review 2:The staff were so friendly especially rod who catered for everything & went out of his way! The food was excellent & great value for money

Review 3:Toilet seat kept falling down and touching your back while sitting on the toilet Plug in Bath not big enough kept loosing water. Also hotel was quite noisy at night time while trying to sleep.

Review 4:Staff were very friendly Food was lovely Bed comfortable Great selection of tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Review 5:For the cost of the room I expected more. The room smelt of cigarette smoke and the floor on the mezzanine level has raised nails and would be unsafe for younger children. No heated towel rails would be disappointing if staying for more than 1 night. Vomit all over the pot plant at the entry to the main accommodation door. Door extremely difficult to lock with key.

Review 6:The food was great and the staff lovely.

Review 7:The bottom bar was not the best welcome but it was Christmas Day. The room was comfortable but we thought that £90 was slightly expensive even with the delicious breakfast.

Review 8:The room was comfortable and fairly spacious and the staff were helpful and friendly. The gentleman showing us to our room was the only one in our experience to go through the information notice on the wall. The lady serving breakfast the following morning was chatty and friendly.

Review 9:Parking tight and difficult to use. No lift but loads of stairs.

Review 10:It is quite different to the run of the mill hotel. If you want a one off this is one.

Review 11:The kebab shop across the road as every other eating place was closed

Review 12:There's nothing we can say bad about the place' absolutely loved the place and the staff were out of this world

Review 13:We had soar milk in are fridge the whole thing was solid

Review 14:Everything about the place it was great !! All the cool deco and loads of funky rooms done so well !!

Review 15:Parking poor. Room door wouldn't lock, so had to change rooms. Milk in mini fridge was off.

Review 16:Lady serving the early breakfast. Breakfast itself was good.

Review 17:The hot water could be a bit iffy and changed from just right to freezing cold to scaling hot....

Review 18:Staff were brilliant - very friendly and very welcoming, as were the locals too.

Review 19:Only minor issue would be the parking as is slightly limited and a little awkward but we managed to park and that was good enough.

Review 20:The family room set up, pet friendly atmosphere, food and staff. Great location too. Everything was comfortable in the room and lots of tea making goodies and bathroom toiletries.

Review 21:Location was very central but misleading on parking. I booked a 'free' place, but it was impossible to access the very small space allocated (space was marked for 4 cars but impossible to get anythign more than a small car in as the entrance was permanantly bloecked by staff car.

Review 22:Staff very nice, and bed comfortable. Good facilities in room - tea, coffee, etc. Very good breakfast.

Review 23:Very friendly and helpful staff, good facilities, well appointed room, excellent choice on menu and great to see a wide choice of vegetarian food for evening and breakfast. Only drawback...restricted parking so remember to book your parking place.

Review 24:The only thing is parking but we got there early so it was ok

Review 25:Love the way the doors went off into different bars. The rooms were very cosy and comfortable. We stay in the Hollywood room this time

Review 26:Room needs some TLC, broken bed, broken shower, could only use the bath! Stains on walls, broken towel rail. Empty and dirty soap dispenser. And the highland room is in an awful location for a family room, right above the retro bar so loud music into the early hours of the morning. Not worth the £150 price tag. I wasted to love this place. The staff made it better as they were so helpful.

Review 27:Fantastic staff, brilliant customer service, really helpful. Lovely food breakfast was fab and nice location. Nice quirky hotel, make a difference from the usual hotels.

Review 28:CarPark very small, was already full on my arrival so had to leave it on restricted street parking. Just meant I had to leave earlier than originally planned.

Review 29:Fantastically welcoming staff - very friendly.

Review 30:Nothing major, we had an evening meal in house and the waiting staff, let it down a little, not on manners, they were all very polite, just a bit inexperienced.

Review 31:The easiness of the hotel, very relaxed, enjoyed our stay.

Review 32:this was the smallest hotel double room i have ever seen.No chairs in the room - not there would have been room for one. No towel rail so towels had to be kept on the floor or stuffed in the shower doors.

Review 33:Towel rail fell apart. No hot water to shower until I told them after I had had a cold shower. Thought I was in Basil Fawltys towers. Apparently they weren't expecting my grandson but they managed to place us in a room for three anyway.

Review 34:The cleanliness,locality friendliness,and facilities.

Review 35:Table booked for 7.30 but did not eat til about 9.15. Was given a round of drinks as compensation.

Review 36:Good use of space with two bars and two restaurants.

Review 37:Rooms could get warm but fans were provided for your comfort. So well thought out.

Review 38:Friendly and welcoming owners and staff, great facilities, excellent food in the restaurant and close to Longleat safari park and Stonehenge and Chedder gorge.

Review 39:Parking a bit of an issue - only two parking spaces and blocked in when waiting to leave (owner of vehicle soon located and moved straight away). Also, hotel is a bit of a maze and not obvious where reception is - had to make our way through the bar where locals told us where to go!

Review 40:Stayed in the African Safari room, which was great - young son thought the mural was impressive. Everything you needed in the room and all spotlessly clean. Owner and bar staff all very friendly. Breakfast probably one of the best I've tasted. Hotel has a great atmosphere.

Review 41:On arrival there was nowhere to park. I had to leave my car on double yellows whilst trying to find someone to book u s in to our room. This took over 30 mins and eventually an ex-employee who happened to be in the bar showed us where to go. I ended up leaving the car on the pavement until a space in the "residents only" car park was found.

Review 42:The room was well equipped & comfortable. The breakfast was excellent

Review 43:The staff couldn't have gone out of their way any more, even after getting up late for breakfast and asking for just a coffee the staff offered us the facility of a fully cooked breakfast. Top notch service.

Review 44:This is a pub with 3 guest rooms. The only draw back is the noise from the pub which continued until 1.45 am on the Sunday morning. It is better suited to party goers than a granny and granddaughter. There are a lot of stairs.

Review 45:Everything else, it is quirky, friendly and very laid back. A brilliant place.

Review 46:It´s a pub with some rooms. In the middle of the town but the front door was in a little street with works, and the back side besides the road was a parking with only two places. Inside the room the things were nice but it was a space with two lewels and the down part was a little dark.

Review 47:Great breakfast!!!!! There is a terrace in the pub where locals enjoy beer. Nice atmosphere.

Review 48:Nothing to to dislike !

Review 49:The staff were all friendly & approachable & nothing was too much trouble. Food is superb, and there's plenty of it! Loved the quirky layout & decor of the whole place. Beds lovely & comfortable, & the room was spotless.

Review 50:Wi-Fi code on wall of room didn't work, but we didn't really need it so it was not a big thing at all.

Review 51:Fabulous room - stayed in the London room. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Amazing breakfast. All round great night!

Review 52:There was no wifi in the room. Our room overlooked the beer garden which was a little noisy.

Review 53:The staff were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding, as was the restaurants in the evening. The bar has an amazing selection of cider and ale. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again if in the area.

Review 54:Couple of issues but we were looked after so well. A bit noisy with the other guests partying in their room but overall good.

Review 55:Wonderful hosts, amazing breakfast.

Review 56:En-suite bathroom sink totally leaked, but I guess this was a one-off. Bit too pricey.

Review 57:The family room was well laid out, with a double bed, plus two singles on a mezzanine stage above. Separate entrance made getting in easy, avoiding the public bar. Managed to take advantage of the limited amount of off-street parking

Review 58:Went back here for a drink after a night out, with five of our friends. Two of our friends were served, then we were told the barman had called time! There was no call while we were there and our friends had just been served. When we complained and pointed out we were residents, the lady behind the bar served us, but this was disappointing.

Review 59:excellent breakfast with a good choice

Review 60:If you have young kids, babies, might not be ideal. It's a pub, there's expected noise at night.

Review 61:A "pub" that doubles as a small hotel, full of character, a suprise around every corner, a building that has had a lot of love put into it by it's owners. The place has it's own personality.

Review 62:Excellent accommodation and food. The ciders were exceptional and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They even got me some early breakfast as we had to get up before their official times.

Review 63:The weather could have been kinder!

Review 64:Nice and central for town, walking distance. Lots of interesting tours and places of interest you would never get bored in Frome.

Review 65:There was an overall stale smoke smell... No window in room to let air in, bathroom door didnt shut, let alone lock. Felt very intimidated by night staff when returning from the evening.

Review 66:staff were accomodating and let us check in early

Review 67:Upon arrival we both realised we might have made a mistake with this booking. We braved it after such a long drive and was desperate for hot shower and food. We had food (re heated Sunday dinner) but no shower as water was freezing cold. We woke up with hope that a hot shower and a nice breakfast world put a spring in our step but the feeling didn't last long. There was still no hot water and I coundnt face breakfast without a wash! After much deliberating and the owner offering breakfast /tea and a boiler repair man - we checked out. We had planned a 2 nite trip but to be honest I was disheartened when u arrived and this was re-enforced when the boiler broke. The website of this hotel looks appealing but it really falls down when you see it in the raw.

Review 68:The staff were really friendly, they looked after us at dinner and the food was ok. The room was quirky and you don't have to worry about check - just go the bar. The pub has on site parking for 2 cars. The room had plenty of tea/coffee and water available and it was a fairly large room.m

Review 69:The Stag painting, from our bed you could only see his legs, which was a bit disconcerting! We did not like the fact that there were lots of drunken women with very young babies sat outside smoking and drinking pints until the early hours. We could not get past all the buggies to take in our luggage. I think that they need to be much more selective in their clientele and to consider the impression that it makes on the establishment as a whole. It is a shame as it has really lets the place down.

Review 70:The owner, lovely chap, passionate about his food!

Review 71:The room was a little noisy and the other room not very disabled friendly.

Review 72:Great Staff, Great Service, Lovely food, Good value for money. The place had everything going one. Fabulous Guiness, food and music.

Review 73:Not a bad experience as such but outdoor area is covered, has TVs and is smoking area. Magnet for kids. Much under age drinking going on it appeared anyway, hence loads of noise.

Review 74:Room ok. No central heating so stand in radiator. Worked ok. Bed and everything fine. Breakfast not bad at all.

Review 75:Rooms are comfortable clean and have everything you need. Staff are friendly helpful and very welcoming. Food is out of this world! Booked the restaurant for Valentines evening during our stay and was very very impressed. Black rock steak is superb. Wifi is quick and easy. Honestly cannot fault the place or understand the reviews marking this place down.

Review 76:Very noisy at night. No reception area so wasnt sure where to check in when we arrived. Room(highland) was cold when we arrived but we were provided with an oil radiator when requested.

Review 77:Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 78:parking was difficult having said that we managed to park on site the people using the pub were rather noisy but perhaps as it was Christmas it was an excuse to some degree, it may have been us , but not sure one or two were very friendly in bar .

Review 79:staff were very good always pleasant and room was very nice, except sink tap was loose the area of frome was lovely

Review 80:The only criticism is the steps in the bathroom - for older people, it felt a bit dangerous

Review 81:The location The quirky decor The food - superb The friendly landlord and staff The themed rooms

Review 82:The parking isn't very good but must say we were lucky getting there early was able to park inside the gate

Review 83:We stayed in the highland room. The space was very good. Bed very comfortable and very clean. Breakfast would keep you going all day loved it

Review 84:Everybody was charming and it was fun to go from one dining area to another and in one was a cozy pizza oven to warm the cold November night. Had the sunday yummy roast beef and Yorkshire pudding Kate Reed, Montreal

Review 85:Handy location, great tapas- best calamari ever. Beer garden with locals was the best night I have had in ages! All very friendly. Room was lovely- a light bulb or two out and a dodgy key but staff were just brilliant. Oh and an amazing breakfast to boot!

Review 86:Very limited parking so we had to park on the road outside the front of the accommodation and sometime during our stay some lovely person decided to scratch our hire car quite badly down one side:(

Review 87:The staff were excellent very friendly and helpful. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was was delicious.

Review 88:No parking had to get up early to move the car. Grubby tables at breakfast, the pepper was stuck to the table, mis matched crockery and chipped. Wobbly tap and no power shower here !

Review 89:The rooms were clean and comfy, if you like themed rooms !! The barman was great BUT the rest of the pub is a continual building site with storage everywhere, most trading rooms were shut because of work, deep clean this pub.

Review 90:Room was a little dark, even when the sun was shining outside. Locking the door was a bit of a chore as the key was a bit temperamental (had been cut that day as previous guests had walked off with the original one!). Minor quibbles though.

Review 91:Location is very central. Room was very nicely laid out and on a 'London' theme - other rooms have different themes. The building itself is a lovely old quirky mix of corridors, bars, restaurants etc. Room pretty quiet despite the bustling bar and restaurant downstairs. Staff were very friendly. The breakfast was very good, and other food, (especially the tapas dishes) were excellent as we also took lunch and dinner there once during our stay.

Review 92:No wifi (unless there was but didn't ask) Will get a little noisy during busy periods in the pub but didn't bother us.

Review 93:The rooms are lovely, well decorated and themed, which I liked. The food was yummy, very nicely prepared and local. The pub is a traditional pub atmosphere and would not suit families with young children but non the less a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, polite and well mannered staff. The restaurant was nice and seperate from the pub although in the same building and you can see the chefs at work! Recommend this stay particularly close to Longleat where we visited, only 15 minutes away.

Review 94:I find the room lighting too dim and the beds were too soft so sleep wise it was uncomfortable

Review 95:the rooms were very clean, the staff very friendly and not bad value

Review 96:The noise from drinkers in the beer garden went on until v late, which made it difficult to sleep..Also the shower wasn't that powerful & ranged from freezing to scalding! Despite this, I would stay again!

Review 97:The room was very comfortable & clean- staff made you feel v. welcome. We had an amazing evening meal in the restaurant & breakfast was lovely!

Review 98:No parking space despite reservation. No cot for 5mth old baby - took an hour for one to be located - one staff member unhelpful she just shrugged her shoulders when I asked where our baby was expected to sleep. Breakfast - choice good, but toast and bacon burnt. Poached eggs just tasted if vinegar - uneatable.

Review 99:A bit noisy at night with pubs and bars For the same reason a stinky beer smell at breakfast

Review 100:Big, comfortable room with mezzanine for children's beds ("Highland" room) Lovely location in old-ish building, on quiet street, pretty town reasonably close to Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath... Very friendly and helpful staff Beautiful church across the street, good italian restaurant also across Hotel restaurant is good too

Review 101:Parking only really fits two cars - we were lucky to get one! Room doors seem a little thin so you can hear others outside the room

Review 102:Staff amazing, owner shared story of his very recent award Well designed themed rooms Meal delicious Great atmosphere Felt very welcome Small touches such as the jars of sweets, biscuits and variety of teas were lovely Outstanding breakfast!

Review 103:very dusty room, surfaces hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Very poor quality pillows and the shower lacked any sort of power.

Review 104:Quality of the staff. Very helpful and attentive when I approached with questions, arranged an early check in for us and helped track down person who had blocked our car in.

Review 105:We visited overnight with our 2 small children. We ate in the restaurant, very good value & great service, the kids loved it. The art work is very interesting. A very eclectic hotel.

Review 106:Heat and non functioning air con that was impossible to sleep through the noise. No reduction in room rate to compensate or decision to change room.

Review 107:Nice decor.

Review 108:Fantastic all round, ticks all the boxes

Review 109:Restaurant

Review 110:Lovely food staff and room

Review 111:a bit noisy and bad soundproofing between the rooms

Review 112:location and breakfast

Review 113:good service, felt very welcome

Review 114:Very nice room which was very tastefully decorated to a Hollywood theme

Review 115:Breakfast was delicious, staff very welcoming

Review 116:Beautiful town and happy staff!!

Review 117:No milk in room.

Review 118:Staff couldn't be more helpful & friendly if they tried. Food quality superb!

Review 120:Staff excellent.Bed so comfy.Good bar(s) excellent choice off drinks including local ciders and beers.highly recommemended.

Review 121:food choices for vegetarians - apart from breakfast which was amazing

Review 122:Location

Review 123:we liked the food. Nice night sleep

Review 124:All food amazing. Very kind, helpful and flexible staff.

Review 125:Very handy to village

Review 126:a bit noisy at night

Review 127:Nice friendly staff

Review 128:We requested breakfast at 7:30am Sunday Morning & although it would not normally be served before 8:30, they obliged without question!

Review 129:Gorgeous room, friendly staff, lovely bars, free parking, great location.
