Reviews for Au Jardin St Michel
Review 1:If you're going to Mont Saint Michel, the bus is 3.20 euros each way. If you go multiple times, you might as well stay at Mont Saint Michel for what you pay in bus fare.
Review 2:Cheap and breakfast was good - coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice, yogurt, breads and jams.
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:Location and staff. 10mins from Mont Saint Michel. Having made a mistake with our booking the proprietor rectified it without any extra cost. Very helpful
Review 5:The owner/manager was a grump and couldn't give a toss about our bikes. Our bikes bikes are valuable, especially to us, but owner was not worried about our security concerns or damage that could occur to them. He already had our business!
Review 6:Good typical cheaper accommodation. In reasonable condition.
Review 7:They charged us more than the rate quoted by booking.com and they didn't speak English although the booking information said there would be an English speaker available
Review 8:Glass door to the our room (no window), which made the space feel a bit exposed, as the door was opposite the stairs. Closing the curtain made the room dark.
Review 9:A good town to stay in for visiting Mont St Michel, with plenty of restaurants and cafes A secure car park, with your car visible from the rooms Decent bathroom, with shower over bath
Review 10:This hotel has an excellent location, the facilities are great value for money and the lady at reception was nice. I made an effort to speak French as I don't think she had much English
Review 11:the receptionist was not very helpful , we tried with our French but alas it was not good enough .Again we were unable to get an evening meal,as they do not open or use the restaurant other than for breakfast
Review 12:the location was nice
Review 13:This is a fairly inexpensive hotel for the area and so we were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room, the comfort of the beds and the amenities. It was clean and the housekeeping that was provided while we were there was great (cleaned, beds made, towels replaced). The breakfast could have been better for the price. The owner was friendly.
Review 14:Very unfriendly when we first arrived. Refused to allow us to store bikes inside even though we had requested at booking - even refused us access to store bikes under shelter so the bikes were out in the rain 2 nights in a row. Rather unhelpful when trying to get WiFi working.
Review 15:Location to Mont St Michel
Review 16:The bathroom was a plasticroom, small room, old carpeted floor, no reading light (was a little bit dark in the room), too expensive
Review 17:It was clean, staff was ok (not extra-friendly), own bathroom, wifi worked well, was cosy
Review 18:no problem.
Review 19:Good location, amazing breakfast (worth the 7 eu), let my backpack to pick it up later, hot water bathtube. Not a con, but the monsieur and lady didn't speak english, not a problem at all (google translator helps a lot).
Review 20:My boyfriend and I stayed here so we could visit Le Mont St Michel. We took the bus up and the station is a literal 2 min walk away and takes you straight to Le Mont! The little town on Pontorson is very quaint and the restaurants we went to were fabulous and very inexpensive.
Review 21:We got the three person room and with the three beds it was a bit cramped. We didn't have room to set up our son's travel crib.
Review 22:We stayed at this hotel after a visit to Mont Saint Michel and it was in a convenient location for that (within walking distance of the train station and bus drop-off). We appreciated that the owner was willing to let us leave our bags after we checked out so we could have some time to explore Pontorson. We were travelling with our 18-month old son and they had a nice, large, mostly enclosed lawn area for him to run around in. They also had a baby swing on their swing set that he was able to use.
Review 23:A very small room. It was very cold when we arrived and heating was turned off. The parking was closed after 22:30, so if you arrive later you will leave the car in the street. Bathroom has a sliding door. The owner does not speak English well enough.
Review 24:Parking near the hotel. There are many cafes and restaurants in the area, a supermarket is very close. Close to MSM. Pontorson is a very nice town :)
Review 25:Such a nice little hotel near to Mont-Saint-Michel. There is a direct bus from the train station to Mont-Saint-Michel, a lot of little cafes in the neighborhood, Lidl etc.
Review 26:It's motel like, rooms facing the exterior. The decor is old. Found it a little bit pricey for what it was.
Review 27:The room was cosy and comfortable. It's next to a supermarket. Has a gated parking free of charge.
Review 28:1. The staff or the owner is very rude. 2. The room is not clean. 3. No toilet inside the room. You have to share one small toilet with other guests. 4. The staff or own dose not allow you to keep your luggage after you check out. So you have to travel with your heavy luggage to mont st michel if you stay at this so called hotel. 5. Never stay at this hotel or you will be regretted!!!
Review 29:Located in 5 minutes walk from the train station is the great place to spend a night before/after Mont-Saint-Michel visit. Supermarket is nearby. Town center is not far away from the hotel.
Review 30:This is a nice small hotel to stay, mainly if you want to visit le mont saint michel. It is really close by car. The owners were nice and the was confortable, and the toilet was fine.
Review 33:Our room was located on the upper floor of the older part of the building. Our sink was cracked, the decor past it's best with torn wallpaper and the bed old and rather saggy. Breakfast was poor with no meat or cheese and was not served till 8am which did not suit many guests. This was the 10th hotel we stayed in on a touring holiday and the only one to which we would not return.
Review 34:The location is convenient for the railway station and bus to Mont St Michel.
Review 35:The room was small and far from being confortable. No window, just the door looking at the outside gallery where all guests go to get to the rooms.
Review 36:Quite close to St. Michel
Review 37:The bathroom was tiny... we didn't find it a problem, but others might.
Review 38:The Restaurant was great- definitely the best Jambon au cidre in the area!!! The staff were friendly- attempting to speak french probably helped. Rooms were neat and tidy.
Review 39:the owner gave me wrong information about the bus schedule to Mont St Michel, I missed the bus and had to wait 1 hour!
Review 40:It is a nice quite place, close to the train station.
Review 41:If you don't have a car, the last bus returning from Mont Saint-Michel to Pontorson leaves before 9pm, so if you want to see the night view, the only option is to take the taxi or hitchhike (or walk 2 hours...). But I think hitchhiking is quite common in France.
Review 42:Close to the train station.
Review 43:(1) Very noisy. The window of my room (No. 11) is facing the main street of the town. Even the window is closed, it is still noisy. (2) The smell of the room is moldy. So I had to open the window but it didn't help. Note that, my friend's room (No. 10) doesn't have the aforementioned problems. So choose your room carefully. :)
Review 44:(1) The bed is comfortable. (2) You can have a good bath in the room.
Review 45:It was too warm in the room.
Review 46:My bro and I enjoyed the stay there. As we only had one evening to visit St. Michelle, we were urged to find the hotel for settling down and head to St. Michelle direct. The location of the hotel is so good, very easy to locate from the train station, next to a supermarket and closed to pubs and restaurant (of course, they have very nice restaurant at the ground floor, too). Though we didn't speak French, staff were very friendly and shared info with DRAWINGs too. Will recommend to friends and families definitely!! Merci
Review 47:Sympa
Review 48:Good position for visiting Mont St Michel
Review 49:Wifi only for 1 device
Review 50:Proximity to Mont St Michel
Review 51:Staff were unfriendly and did not welcome you
Review 52:Good value for money for a brief stay to visit Mont St Michel.
Review 53:Communication...English.. But soooooo kind!!!
Review 54:Wifi is good
Review 55:Rooms are old and small. The price is pretty high considering what you get..
Review 56:Friendly staff, fast wifi, very good breakfast
Review 57:acceille
Review 58:Close to the mt st michel which was convenient
Review 59:Slightly noisy traffic outside
Review 60:Good Breakfast, Efficient owner. Good Room.
Review 61:Location near Mont St. Michel
Review 62:We requested a double bed, but we're given a twin
Review 63:Adequate for an overnight stay
Review 64:We stayed in Pontorson whilst visiting St-Michel. Nice motel style hotel, warm, clean and comfortable.
Review 65:Any people who are planning kind of comfortable and nice trip would not be that satisfied.
Review 66:The only one staff was gentle
Review 67:-breakfast -cold(winter)
Review 68:-wifi -location
Review 69:Noisy, you'll have a hard time if you don't know any French.
Review 70:Good price, clean room, good wifi,
Review 71:The toilet was too small and crammed.
Review 72:Its one of the cheapest in this region
Review 73:staff memberwe had contact with was rude
Review 74:location
Review 75:Unfriendly host, never felt welcome
Review 76:Good private, secure car park. Breakfast excellent. Close enough to Mt st Michel
Review 77:Friendly staff and great accommodations!
Review 78:dinner is so nice
Review 79:Incredibly small bathroom. Toilet leaked.
Review 80:Cheap place to stay, very close to train terminal. Resturant was also good.
Review 81:Very small shower room :)
Review 82:Perfect place for travalers with car only to spent a night. Near Lidl :)
Review 83:Restaurant not open. Breakfast very expensive for what it was.
Review 84:Not a lot
Review 85:Central location. Facilities good but hotel had kept its French charm
Review 86:1.being lectured by reception for speaking to her in English. 2. Getting the poorest room in the hotel (likely as a consequence of # 1) when they had very few guests for the night.
Review 87:Location was good. Wifi very good.
Review 88:We were travelling in two couples. The room #5 was good and comfortable, but we had a problem with the room 12. It was a very small room and the bathroom was ridiculosly small. We had reserved through booking the SAME room! When we contacted the manager about that, the owner's daughter was very stupid and arrogant and did absolutely nothing to compensate this! We were very desappointed. Be careful about the 4 small rooms they have upstairs!!!
Review 89:Room #5 was good and the location is good. Beautiful building.
Review 90:We rate the hotel as "poor" (lowest on your scale) partly because of the current (late April 2014) train closure at Pontorson but also because of the tattiness of the hotel. See below. We are retired and have travelled extensively over 40+ years, stayingalways in budget accommodation.1. NO TRAIN - Work was being done on the tracks and the line from Rennes and also to Dol, was closed. Not clear when it will be operational again. This meant for us: A train to Rennes, then a 1 hr 15 mins Keolis bus all the way to Mont St Michel that would not stop and let us off at Pontorson even 'though it goes straight through there and within 100m of the hotel. Then we had to turn around and get a local bus (another 15 mins) back to Pontorson to get to the hotel. It was only 3.10 euro but the irritation was the time taken in unnecessary travel and also extra wait time forconnections. Then, when departing Pontorson after our 3 night stay, the same thing had to happen in reverse with almost an hour wait at the Mont Saint Michel carpark (in the cold and therain) for the Rennes bus connection. (We have written to Keolis Customer Service tosuggest they make an exception to their "no drop offs" policy for travellers to Mont Saint Michel who are staying at Pontorson, just until the Pontorson train service to/from Rennes resumes. So far, they have not replied. The lesson for others? If going to Mont Saint Michel, using public transport and staying overnight, DON'T stay at Pontorson, no matter what hotel!2. The hotel Au Jardin St Michel* Room very tatty with serious peeling paint in toilet and minimal furniture giving the same effect.* An odd inclusion of a plastic undersheet that crackled and made us sweat, similar to those used in hospitals to protect mattresses against wetting and soiling.* No fan or light in shower.* Only 1 chair & 1 bedside table in bedroom (for two people).* No garbage bin in bedroom.
Review 91:We stayed 3 nights at (hotel) Au Jardin St Michel (Pontorson) with our plan to spend our first full day at Mont Saint Michel and then the following day at Dinan. * Room warm & quiet * Non smoking room * Clean sheets * Fresh towels daily * Free wifi * A reasonable TV * With prior request, kindly loaned us a hairdryer
Review 92:The curtains were a bit thin/see through and I could see people as they walked to their rooms on our floor. The bathroom had the kind of shower where there is no hanger for the nozzle (so you have to hold it while showering). The check-in clerk did not speak English, which was mostly okay, but was a bit confusing when she explained the internet login.
Review 93:The room was very nice -- clean and simple. TV had the kind of remote that let's you switch the spoken language to English when available (an added perk!). Close to the train station and right next door to a grocery store.
Review 94:Staff weren't around when I arrived and there was no way to contact them. I was lucky they happened to drive in after ten minutes of aimless waiting. Overpriced. The only place my bike could be accommodated was outside in the rain
Review 95:Convenient position
Review 96:There was no air-conditioning which we didn't think we would need in late September but the room was quite warm and when we opened the window we could hear the traffic. It was quite noisy.
Review 97:It was a short drive from Le Mont Saint Michel. We had lunch and dinner at the restaurant and the food was delicious and well priced.
Review 98:the latest bus schedule to Mont st. Michel is better check in bus station which is just near sncf.
Review 99:hotel is near train station and supermarket, staffs are helpful some can speak English.
Review 100:Nothing.......good value for what we paid expected what we got, plus itwas a really nice place for a one night stop.
Review 101:Great value for money and friendly staff. We had a motorbike so thesecure parking was a no brainer. Kinda like the american motel set-up,comfy enough/shower ok did the job! 15 mins on the bike to Mont StMichel WOW!......parking fine and a courtesy bus from the parking areaevery few mins......expect it would be mobbed most of the day we wentaround 4pm after we arrived and it was tolerable.....narrow streets andall that......but what a sight to see so impressed with both Mont StMichel and the hotel......as they say you get what you pay for and Ihave no complaints.
Review 102:small things would help improve this hotel, a fan or air conditioning in the room, some other options for breakfast.
Review 103:The staff, the service we received here was fantastic. The food was excellent. The room was clean overall we loved this place and would stay again.
Review 104:The room, though essential, was small.
Review 105:Position (close to Mont St Michel), easy access, the simplicity style, breakfast (continental, sufficiently wide).
Review 106:The breakfast was quite small.
Review 107:The hotel was nice and had a home feeling to it. I really liked the fact that there was a parking for which we didn't have to pay. Very good!
Review 108:We wanted to come back from Mont St Michel once it was dark, but in Summer this means we had to wait until past 10 pm. It was impossible to get a cab back to the hotel (we were given telephone numbers, but these were not picking up). Perhaps it was because it was a Sunday, but in any case, I would suggest people book their taxi back to the hotel in advance!
Review 109:Excellent price for the room, which had all that we needed for a short stay.
Review 110:Everyone was very friendly, it was basic but it was just great for a one night stop over. Not too far from Mont St Michel but you still have to drive there.
Review 111:When we arrived there was no hot water. The next day we were told thatthis was because they had run out of fuel? If you know you have gueststhis should never happen. Secondly, as we had arrived late I asked themanager to keep the door to the carpark open an extra 15 minutes as Iwent to McDonalds (the only place open). He gave me directions to theMcDonalds and when I arrived he had locked the carpark. Thirdly, atbreakfast he was giving us bad looks every time our son made normal babynoises, and when he was chewing the hotel room keys the manager snatchedthem off him and complained. (The keyring was made from an offcut ofwood with the room number written in marker!). This man should not berunning a hotel. We felt like a burden the whole time and I would notrecommend this 'hotel' to anyone, with or without children.
Review 112:The room was nice.
Review 113:Hot at night. No air conditioning (as expected), no fan (not expected)
Review 114:Short bus ride to Mont St Michel 5 minute walk to train station Staff was friendly Pontorson is a nice small town, but nothing special. We were there for one night to see Mont St Michel. Good value if it's not hot. If hot consider paying more for a place with AC.
Review 115:- Gate closed at 22:30, since I wanted to go out, I had to leave the car outside- restaurants not really reachable within walking distance - had a room next to the main road so it got a bit noisy during the night
Review 116:- Easy access
Review 117:No-one around on reception most of the time, although someone appeared when I needed to check in/out.
Review 118:Very quiet. Quite cheap. Handy for Mont St Michel without being too touristy.
Review 119:There was a slight draught from the door which made the room a bitchilly. I actually couldn't get the wi-fi to work but it seemsothers couldn't either so I guess they were just having some troublearound that time.
Review 120:The hotel was run by a really friendly family which made the place feelright at home. They provided me with all the information I needed tovisit the Mont Saint Michel and held onto my luggage as I did. The roomswere really rustic and pretty and they smelled wonderful. I even had abathtub! With this quality for these prices I'd say this is the besthotel in Pontorson and I will definitely stay here if I come back.
Review 121:The wi-fi was inconsistent over time. Every hour I needed to reconnect because my old connection would spontaneously fail.
Review 122:I felt comfortable in my room, and the proprietor was helpful when I had questions.
Review 123:The staff were not available at the times that they should have been. This loose schedule seemed to be common throughout the town.
Review 124:Affordable, accommodated our earlier checkout, responded promptly to email through booking.com For two people, this beats a hostel in value. Very close to the train station.
Review 125:In contrast to our request, our small room was in a noisy location. The food at dinner was very poor.
Review 126:The town of Pontorson was much more pleasant the staying at Mont San Michael
Review 127:The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we easily worked though the language problem (English/French). The restaurant was very good for breakfast and dinner. The room was a good size and the bed very comfortable. The hotel is close to the station and the bus to Mont St Michel.
Review 128:Good location. It was compact and basic, but clean, tidy and comfortable. We only needed somewhere to stay for the night while visiting Mont St Michel and suited that.
