Reviews for Le Clos de Flacé

Review 1:Absolutely fantastic find, travelling with three young children the hosts were very welcoming, the property impressive and the food superb. I would highly recommend staying here

Review 2:We had the room off the dining room and it was quite noisy.

Review 3:Close to main route for overnight stopover. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. Spotlessly clean.

Review 4:Nil

Review 5:Lovely friendly owners who were amazingly welcoming. Lovely house and surrounds. We really enjoyed our stay and very much appreciated the personal touch of the owners.

Review 6:Nothing.

Review 7:Everything, from entering the drive, the stay, room, facilities, food, drink, hospitality from the owners second to non. This is what we had been looking for in France, the French company in the evening just made the stay complete. Loved the house as well, the bed we could have left with, real comfort.

Review 8:Nothing

Review 9:Wonderful, helpful hosts, it couldn't have been better; comfortable and convenient for travelling south through France; very good restaurant nearby too.

Review 10:A bit awkward to get to from the motorway. Traffic noise with the windows open

Review 11:Superb grand old house, exceptionally accommodating owners, superb food (and really excellent value) - highly recommended.

Review 12:The owner was very welcoming. After a long drive we were very pleased that we had booked the dinner option, delicious French home style cooking with local wines, enjoyed in company with other guests.

Review 13:Made to feel really welcome. Excellent table d'hôte dinner was great value and very sociable. Large room in historic property with lovely modern bathroom.

Review 14:Excellent in every way, very friendly hosts and the 6 course evening meal that included all wine for 25 euros per person was unbelievable. Traditional home cooked French cuisine couldn't have been better in a 5 star restaurant.

Review 15:nothing..all excellent

Review 16:excellent place to stay..personal sevice..friendly..excellent food dinner/breakfast..nothing too much trouble..very nice people..a must stay if your in area..

Review 17:The owners went out of their way to accommodate a late arriving family with small children. Pizza was ordered and enjoyed on the terrace while kids played in the garden and parents relaxed. Superb breakfast, and thanks for jump starting my car!

Review 18:If you travel with bicycle, be aware that you have to have a long ascend from Macon city. Make sure that Carole cooks that evening if you don't want to go down to down (about 2-3km). Carole: make sure next time I come to stay with you there is a bottle of your beautiful Chardonnay in the fridge.

Review 19:A wonderful house with a nice garden. Carole is a great host and is ready to cater for all your wishes. She has a great wine selection.

Review 20:We would have liked to have been able to lock the bathroom doors into both bedrooms.

Review 21:Lovely old house and lovely bedrooms. We had the Cardinal Suite which has a Jack and Jill bathroom and shared with my elderly mother. The food was delicious with lots of wine. We sat at one big table and had interesting conversation with Belgians,Dutch and Germans.

Review 22:Man of the house very grumpy. Was very annoyed that one of my kids accidentially dropped something once. It's clear that they are not used to (small) children. I guess mostly older people come here. Very noisy wooden floors. Free WIFI did not work at all in the room. Only at a specific location in the house, so a very limited range. We picked the largest room (suite), but the sleeping couch was sub par. The 2 beds were very good though. Can only eat with all guests at a single large table and a fixed menu.

Review 23:Beautiful large house. Close to the route du soleil. Clean room. Good beds. Speak English.

Review 24:Although not too far from motorway there was no sound from vehicles. The food was exceptional in the evening . Offering eggs and bacon for breakfast with the usual french fare also .

Review 25:Nothing!

Review 26:Lovely country house with gorgeous rooms and setting. Owners were very welcoming. Breakfast was great. We didn't have it ourselves but the evening meal looked great too.

Review 27:The owners were extremely welcoming and could not do enough to help. The evening meal and breakfast were both fabulous. We would highly recommend the manor house and plan to stay again for longer.

Review 28:Slightly trick to find off main road. Other than that it was perfect.

Review 29:Beautiful Old Stone Built French House. Owners could not have been more accommodating or kind and helpful. Rooms newly decorated in typically chic style. Great 5 course dinner with very good local wine, cooked by owners. Very safe gated compound for car. Really excellent value for money.

Review 30:Actually nothing

Review 31:The location iscexcellent for auto-travellers intending to visit both Macon, which is worth spending a day, and Cluny which is must, the countryside around is also very picturous. We are really grateful to the hosts for excellent hospitality and tasty meals, for friendly atmosphere of the house. I strongly recommend their dinner which is extra at reasonable price. The building has met our expectations of smth very historical and authentic but comfortable.

Review 32:nothing

Review 33:everything - beautiful building, food was amazing and great value. Would definitely go back. Our 4 poster bed was the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on.

Review 34:It's not really negative, just made us stress for a few seconds since we didn't know we had to look for a small road to bring us to the actual B&B. Since we only saw a field were the gps directed us to, we thought (for a second) that we had been conned :-)

Review 35:Breakfast was very good (lots of choice: bread, chocolate bread, eggs and bacon, cereals,...) If you are a tea drinker, there is a wide selection of various teas! The owners were very friendly, made us feel very welcome. They spoke French, English and even a few words of Dutch :-) We also liked that the parking spot could be closed by a gate. We were on our way to a skiing resort and didn't want to unload the car too much. Because of the gate, our luggage etc was safe in the car. They even put a chocolate on our pillow to welcome us :-) All in all good experience! Would recommend this place and would go back!

Review 36:- The property is right next to a major highway (A7), which can be noisy at times. - Our unit had a large bathtub but no shower.

Review 37:- Great location in suburban Macon, reached by car, close to major highways - a perfect base for exploring southern Burgundy and Beaujolais, and only 55 km from Lyon. - A fine older 2-story house on a sizable piece of land, atmospherically decorated and furnished, with well equipped units and very comfy 4-post beds.Plenty of free parking. - Awesome, very warm and friendly owners/hosts - Jean-Ives and lovely wife Carol, who is also a great cook. Both speak fluent English. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a complimentary carafe of delicious local wine. - Last but not least: the food. Excellent cooked to order breakfast. Jean-Ives provides great info. on local restaurants. Moreover, with advance notice (24 hrs) the owners may serve a home cooked 5-course gourmet dinner, complete with wine and drinks - a terrific value.

Review 38:We overshot the entrance as the signpost was not very clearly illuminated on the main road.

Review 39:Everything was a delight. The hosts were so accommodating charming and welcoming. The food was exceptional. We had a wonderful nights sleep and the best shower ever!

Review 40:Remember to eat at their gorgeous table, maybe alongside other travellers. It is one of my best french meals, all homemade and very deliciuos. Even cheap!

Review 41:It is difficult to find. Admittedly, we were first-time visitors to Macon. On departing, we would have preferred some more careful and helpful directions to reach the highway, instead of 'take a left turn and go straight'!!

Review 42:The owners were cordial and the breakfast was bountiful. They have tried very hard to convert this building and grounds into a very comfortable bed=and=breakfast.

Review 43:Bathroom door did not close and no proper shower

Review 44:Warm friendly welcome on arrival and a comfortable bed. The double-glazed windows kept the autoroute noise at bay.

Review 45:Countryside location, friendly atmosphere with a variety of nationalities at a communal breakfast table. Owners very helpful offering tourism advice.

Review 46:Late Check in at 5pm.

Review 47:Jean Yves the owner was very friendly, and he was very helpfull, after forgetting my professional flash at Le Clos de Flace, he send it as soon as he can to an address i choose to let me have it before i finish my vacation in France.

Review 48:Could have done with better light in room for looking at maps and in shower. No restaurants within walking distance. We had dinner before arriving but dinner is provided if you book in advance. I suspect it would be great

Review 49:We were in the 'new' wing built in 18th century. Lots of lovely little touches in the room and very homely. Brand new walk in shower and comfortable bed. Great breakfast included and nothing too much trouble for the hosts. Really near motorway

Review 50:We had a fantastic evening staying here. A little "eccentric" in that one cannot book in until 5.00 - when the electric gates open. However, this is a private house (B&B) not a fully functioning hotel - with just three rooms. The rooms were spacious with all mod cons. Dinner, cooked and servied by the owners, was an absolute treat. The guests met for h'ordeauves and wine at 7.00 followed by home made soup, a small cheese salad, a superb pork and rice main course, cheese board, ice cream and coffee - with wine. A fantastic meal at a very reasonable price. We will definitely visit again if we are in that area.

Review 51:The ability to have an evening meal after a long day's travelling would have been great. We really didn't want to head out again to find a restaurant.

Review 52:The room was great, facilities were good. Everything was clean and in good repair. The old house is beautiful, as are the grounds. The owners were really friendly and helpful.

Review 53:Location close to motorway meant there was some traffic sound. Parking in the town was difficult as there was an outside concert in progress and so we didn't get to see Macon.

Review 54:Warm welcome and wine offered. Breakfast was good.

Review 55:Nothing, it was a wonderful, authentic, hospitable and extremely comfortable night's stay.

Review 56:From the moment of driving down the private drive between towering Sunflowers on either side, we knew we had discovered a gem of a place. Madame and Monsieur were the most charming of hosts and Carole's cooking was superb. We were travelling with our two daughters aged 14 and 8 and stayed as a final night stop-off on our way back from a holiday in the South. We booked the suite Le Cardinal (two connected bedrooms and a private "jack and jill" bathroom between the two). Both rooms were spotless and furnished in a vintage French style. We pre-booked dinner and I had emailed Carole before our stay and mentioned we'd love to try her special boeuf bourginon. She kindly remembered and prepared it for us. It was wonderful, as was the whole meal (aperitif, entrée, soup, salad with local ham, main course (beef), fromage followed by apple tart all lovingly home made and delicious. Local wine or soft drinks, tea, coffee and Monsieur's special digestif! All for 25 euro a head.(Under 12's pay their age for their meal!). It was a wonderful end to our holiday and we will certainly stay at Le Clos de Flache when travelling to the South of France again, although next time we will stop off on the way down too!

Review 57:Liked everything

Review 58:The room ,the atmosphere, the welcome, the food. Most of all, t he opportunity to eat a traditional and unhurried meal of such excellent quality at the end of a long drive

Review 59:Rooms would benefit from some modernisation. Quite close to main road so some road noise.

Review 60:Beautiful old manor house. Very friendly welcome from the owners. Lovely meal provided - from aperitifs to 5 courses. Lovely peaceful overnight stop.

Review 61:Nothing at all.

Review 62:Visited for one night just passing through heading back towards calais. Room was spacious and clean and typically french. The owners were lovely and helpful and accommodating. We were recommend having dinner as it was excellent in terms of value and taste with plenty of wine as well.

Review 63:The room we were given wasnt clean. Matted hair left on the floor. There was a defuser in the room which gave out an overpowering nauseous smell which we were literally gagging on all night. Other reviews led us to believe breakfast was excellent. It wasnt. The butter, croissants and the jams were uncovered and literally crawling with small flies. The eggs and bacon was greasy and overcooked. Perhaps we were just unlucky as everyone else reviewing the place thought it was great

Review 64:Unlike other reviewers, satnav took us straight there. Without satnav it would be a problem. Property in nice location next to fields of sunflowers. The bed was passably comfortable.

Review 65:Close to the motorway but the noise was manageable with earplugs!

Review 66:Delightful hosts with good English skills. Gorgeous dining room with wonderful restaurant quality food served on beautiful china accompanied by generous quantities of local wine. Convenient on-site parking and spacious grounds.

Review 67:Absolutely nothing - everything was outstanding.

Review 68:Le Clos de Flace is an absolute gem, very friendly hosts, fantastic individualistic rooms and the food at both dinner (5 courses for €25) and breakfast was truely outstanding, homecooked French fare. I couldn't recommend this hotel more.

Review 69:Close to motorway and much traffic noise in garden etc. With windows closed not a problem in rooms

Review 70:Very quiet location Friendliness of owners Good food at good price. Comfort of room, we were on ground floor.

Review 71:Nothing not to like.
