Reviews for Chateau des Arpentis

Review 1:Very musty smell as is a converted stable build into a hill. Ventilation could be better.

Review 2:We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment next to the Chateau. It was huge and very modern. Great for a large family. Large bed and bathroom in one room. 3 single beds and another bathroom in the second room. Kitchen and lounge in a 3rd room.

Review 3:The kitchen utensils were a bit sparse - but nothing you couldn't cope without!

Review 4:Beautiful apartment, friendly staff, wonderful grounds. Very relaxing.

Review 5:I wish they would put screens on the windows to keep bugs out. But, I guess in Europe they are not big on screens. Bring earplugs because the walls are thin, but it was worth it.

Review 6:Great service that felt more like a bed and breakfast in an amazing setting.

Review 7:The Chateau is amazing :) It is a bit far from the downtown but definitely worth it and, after all you can always rent a bike and enjoy the views :) which we did and was perfect! Olivier, our host was very nice and made our stay memorable :)

Review 8:I believe that the breakfast offerings could be improved.

Review 9:The room was well appointed, large and updated as was the washroom. The chateau was clean, modern and well kept. Its setting is both pastoral and calm. It serves as a perfect location from which to visit other chateaux as well as to dine in Amboise.

Review 10:The only negative is that it is located slightly out of town. For some that might be a big positive

Review 11:This was a great stay. We were welcomed very warmly. The facility is amazing, it really is an old castle and the renovations are excellent. Everything works well. you will have all the modern conveniences with a real feel of living in a 15th century castle. The common room is truly amazing with two fireplaces, and a pool table. The hallways are lined with memorabilia including many stuffed birds and animals. Breakfast is French buffet, in other words, Continental but ample. We decided to have (picnic) dinner in the breakfast room one evening. The girl on staff cleared the table, set it, and then cleared it again, all without us asking. We believe that she stayed past the end of her shift to do this. We were two couples and all were thrilled. Would stay here again at the drop of a hat.

Review 12:At the price they charge and the luxury of it, I would rather have had the breakfast included in the quoted price, even if increased. It just seemed a little cheap to have to pay extra for breakfast in such a luxury setting.

Review 13:It was a beautiful setting. Our room was large, with a gorgeous view into the front pasture. Oliver was extremely helpful and available for anything we asked.

Review 14:Bath tub in our room was very old and rusty, perhaps as old as the chateau itself. Should be replaced but with something antique looking vs modern, like in our friend's room. Would be good to have robes and house shoes. Other then that we could not complain.

Review 15:We loved everything. Our room was beautiful, the view is breathtaking, very clean. Staff is great, treated us with free excellent coffee and croissants all day, anywhere on the property of the hotel. We loved the living room, where we could relax in the afternoon after a day of sightseeing in front of the fire place. Bathroom had a huge shower and a bath tub. The property is magnificent. We can't wait to come back.

Review 16:It didn't feel as though there was anyone in particular there to greet guests or take care of their needs. Breakfast was skimpy; canned fruit cocktail was served. It seemed to be an oversight.

Review 17:the room was elegant and huge; the bathroom was very roomy and the shower was wonderful. the bed was firm but comfortable. We had several large windows that overlooked the estate in the back, and the pond. We used the tables outsight on the rear patio for wine and cheese; a very beautiful, relaxing hotel.

Review 18:The Chateau doesn't have an alcohol license, so you need to get your own wine, etc. and there is also not a restaurant (except for breakfast). But there is a massive supermarket a 3 minute drive from there where you can buy good food.

Review 19:The Chateau was beautiful and the grounds really nice/well-kept. The host was excellent in his service and friendliness. Breakfast was really nice and all the produce fresh and tasty. The "living room" area with the open fire was amazing! :)

Review 20:We felt the breakfast was a bit over priced for what you received. No meats or cheese which is standard for France. Fruit, yogurt, bread and hard boiled eggs. Coffee was very good.

Review 21:The Chateau is beautiful. We spent 3 nights there and wished we would have booked more. Located close to Amboise and other tourist chateaus but secluded enough that you feel miles away from anyplace. One day we decided to stay at the chateau to enjoy its beauty. The staff offered to make us tea in the afternoon. Made us feel very special. It was convenient to have free laundry facilities.

Review 22:Leaving the chateau was the only thing we didn't like!

Review 23:What an amazing place - we had such a lovely time - especially in the evenings being able to cook our tea by the pool whilst the sun was setting- we hope to return!

Review 24:Beautiful chateau in great location...in lovely country side but just minutes to Amboise and major Chateaux. Very comfortable and friendly with all facilities. Amazing pathway to pool side ...only negative is if you have children that even the shallow end of the pool is too deep for young non swimming children. Would definitely recommed as memorable stay.

Review 25:This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at in Europe. Great location for exploring the Loire Valley. The room was well furnished. Bathroom was excellent. Staff spoke good English. Great pool area. The atmosphere here is perfect for enjoying the Loire Valley.

Review 26:This place is amazing!! My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this lovely chateau. The staff are very helpful, and our room could not be more inviting. We truly enjoyed their breakfast and felt like guests of honor. I highly recommend this place.

Review 27:Eggs took too long to cook the first morning ☺️. But this was a very minor blip

Review 28:The amazing location, the pool and the intriguing blend of old and new. The highlight was the secret tunnel from main building to the pool.

Review 29:The breakfast was quite expensive, so we opted out.

Review 30:What is there not to like about this amazing, affordable castle stay? Our room was large and comfortable, under a canopy bed, and the building was stunningly beautiful. There is also a very cool underground passageway to the pool that includes a wine cellar. This was truly a place that one shouldn't miss in the Loire Valley.

Review 31:The lack of tea or coffee facilities as there was no restaurant on site.

Review 32:The position of the chateau in Amboise was excellent for visiting local sights.

Review 33:Definitely need a car to get to and from Amboise. Lunch or dinner picnic baskets with local produce would make this chateau complete!

Review 34:Incredible grounds and pool. Chambre blue is a delightful room. Breakfast is really good - the owner even sourced gluten free bread for me. The pool! Super fresh clean water. Loved everything!

Review 35:Best hotel ever! Huge rooms, very helpful staff, gorgeous setting and breakfast was so good too. We appreciated being able to do our laundry and we loved the pool!

Review 36:We didn't require a cooked meal - but for those who do - there is no restaurant at the hotel.

Review 37:This is a perfect holiday location for a couple or family. A car is necessary to stay here (the property is 10 minutes drive from Amboise & Chenonceaux and there is also a shopping complex a few minutes away.). We had a beautiful room - newly renovated, spacious and with a modern bathroom - lots of space to unpack, relax and feel at home. The hotel has a lovely pool area with cooking facilities beside the pool and lots of extras like an ice machine you can help yourself to. There is also a laundry room which you can use to wash & dry clothes, and other communal areas such as the breakfast room (breakfast is delightful), billiards room & lounge. The cooking and laundry facilities made for such an easy holiday - we bought meats, cheeses & pasta in Amboise and made a beautiful dinner while relaxing by the pool with wine. The service provided to guests is attentive and the accommodation is excellent, but the self service facilities make a superb concept as you really feel at ease and at home in the chateau. We would love to stay in this beautiful place again. In the heart of the Loire Valley - our room looked out on rolling green meadow, horses, and hot air balloons. Historical chateau with modern facilities and fresh renovation.

Review 38:Breakfast was unexciting. Ok, but expected better. E.g. Maybe a little cheese. Maybe fresh rather than tinned fruit salad?

Review 39:Beautiful chateau, fantastic and spacious bedroom/bathroom, fantastic views over fields, gardens, and small lake, lovely pool (if a little cold for swimming when we were there), courteous staff, close to lovely Amboise. Would return.

Review 40:The grounds were beautiful and quiet. It was truly like stepping out of time and experiencing the life of a nobleman 100 or 200 years ago! (except for the electricity and WiFi, of course!) :-)

Review 41:None

Review 42:We loved spending some time in our "own" chateau. From our huge room with a four-poster bed to public rooms with carved fireplaces and hunting trophies it was all spectacular. And breakfast on the patio was wonderful, too!

Review 43:No bar, and no ability to buy wine at the chateau, but great supermarket just up the road, so not really a problem if you have a car. Only one pillow on the bed and the bathroom floor floods when you have a shower!

Review 44:loved the chateau it was truly stunning, service was great too, room was large and very comfortable.

Review 45:There was no on-site restaurant although we knew this at the time of booking and there were plenty of options in nearby Amboise.

Review 46:The hotel is in a great location nearby the town of Amboise but a nice enough distance for it to be a place of tranquility after a busy day of sightseeing. The rooms were very comfortable and luxurious along with being well appointed and the whole hotel was exceptionally clean and well kept. Since there isn't a large number of rooms it was peaceful and tranquil even by the pool on one of the hottest days of the year. The pool is a great addition and is reached by a passageway under the property which is a nice quirky feature! The breakfast was wonderful as were the views sitting outside for breakfast in the morning. We would highly recommend this if looking for a place to stay near Amboise.

Review 47:We visited in July and had a little problem with our AC but staff always addressed it fast when we told them.

Review 48:We loved this place. The setting was beautiful and relaxing. Romantic and comfortable place to stay. Felt like king and queen of the place. We highly recommend this place to others.

Review 49:This chateau is a must if you are in the area. It is run like a boutique hotel with only 12 rooms. It truly is like living back in time but with all the amenities of today.

Review 50:Nothing, but cheese and some meats would be nice at breakfast.

Review 51:Great value for money. Beautiful castle hotel with in style decorated rooms. Great pool. Friendly staff.

Review 52:The breakfast was excellent, although at additional charge.

Review 53:This is a great property to use as a base for exploring the central Loire Valley, just 5 minutes into Amboise for dinner. The chateau is 500 years old but has all the modern conveniences: good air conditioning, updated bathrooms (with claw foot tubs), Wi-Fi, and flat screen TV. The rooms and the property are clean and maintained. There is even a free laundry room. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 54:If you don't have a car this chateau is a little difficult but doable. The chateau only offers breakfast so getting to a restaurant requires either a taxi ride, which can be hard to get, or about a 30-40 minute walk. The walk is not bad and is on a quiet street, but options are limited.

Review 55:This place is amazing and the staff is more helpful than any staff I have ever met. They are truly great! The chateau is quiet and spacious. The pictures don't even do it justice.

Review 56:Nothing except a little hard to find on our GPS..

Review 57:Extremely helpful staff, beautiful setting, spacious room, great pool and grounds and good recommendation for local activities

Review 58:Nothing. Just need to appreciate there is no restaurant so its either bring your own or go into Amboise for food

Review 59:Brilliant location. It felt like we had hired the place for ourselves. It had facilities to cook our own food and also to wash clothes which was great given we were on a motorcycling holiday with limited luggage

Review 60:Amazing location, beautiful breakfasts out on the patio, and a fantastic swimming pool to relax by in the afternoons. Incredible service from staff too!

Review 61:Superb, spacious, fully equipped bedrooms with tv. hairdryer, toiletries, towels, plus ample wardrobe and drawer space, and big comfy beds. Breakfast at 10e each was excellent value with boiled eggs, fruit juice, fruit and yogurt, croissants, bread, pastries and jam. The chateau is an impressive building set in a small river valley with a lake and meadows in the distance. A tranquil location in which to laze around the heated outdoor pool and listen to the flocks of woodpeckers and pied wagtails. In the evenings sit on the terrace and watch the fox and cubs in the meadow. The Manager and staff extremely helpful and also spoke English. Ample parking on site. Highly recommended.

Review 62:No cheese with breakfast

Review 63:So many things - the chateau was lovely and our rooms especially. The grounds were entertaining and the pool was refreshing. Olivier provided consistent hospitality for all our little needs. The ability to do laundry.

Review 64:Thin walls.

Review 65:Location near everything we wanted to do in Loire: visit chateau, tour wineries, eat at nice restaurants. Secluded, romantic spot. Very charming property. The croissants and the French press coffee in the morning!

Review 66:Can't think of anything.

Review 67:The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. Breakfast was good and the pool and the grounds were wonderful. The location was very central.

Review 68:We were biking the Loire à velo, and it was just a bit far out of town. A taxi ride in for dinner was only €12 though, so that was a minimal inconvenience compared to the wonderful venue.

Review 69:Our family of four had the attic room, which took up a large portion of the length of the castle. The kids slept I. A former off to the side, and we're thrilled. We all loved the ambience, the view, the decor, and of course the hospitality of Olivier and his wife. In the words of our 17 year old son, "stop looking. Just stay here".

Review 70:Decoration is traditional with modern twist. The rooms were of generous size & everything was clean. The staff were very helpful & knowledgable of the local area.

Review 71:It was a little difficult to find the accommodation.

Review 72:Location is well located. Close to Ambois but feels tucked away and exclusive. Spacious and comfortable bedrooms. Able to use laundry facilities which was very welcome. Free parking on site. Also pool onsite with nice surroundings. Staff were friendly and breakfast of croissants and pastries substantial.

Review 73:There is no restaurant, and they request that you don't picnic in the rooms. The Wi-Fi struggled a bit, but it was free.

Review 74:We were delighted by the magnificent sight of the Chateau as we drove down the short road through the trees to arrive. Rooms with modern upgrades are all located in the historic building. Our beautiful room had a high ceiling and an enormous (ten foot) window looking out over a pond and field with horses. Good breakfast.

Review 75:Leaving at the end of the week.

Review 76:Everything from the continental breakfast, to the peace and quiet of the surrounding countryside. The whole place was spotless, bed linen, and towels changed every day. Olivier our host could not have been more accommodating, which added to the whole experience. Only a five minute drive into Amboise with all its sights and restaurants ,little wonder Leonardo da Vinci lived there.

Review 77:Our bathroom door would not close, it was a sliding door and stuck open. Also the paint was peeling rather badly in the bathroom. Needs some repair

Review 78:The chateau was lovely

Review 79:The only negative is that the property is in the country and does not have a full service restaurant; you will have to have a car, and drive out for your lunch and dinner. That being said, the staff will make suggestions/reservations for you. We had two extraordinarily good dinners, reasonably priced, in two restaurants less than a 15-min. drive. Highly recommend this chateau.

Review 80:The view from our window of the pasture land and horses, the huge room and bathroom, the separate sitting area in our room, the ice machine, the manager (Olivier) and his staff

Review 81:As well as the joy of staying in a sympathetically restored historic residence, the service and attention provided - particularly by Olivier - made this an extremely restful and peaceful break. The local fine restaurants are also exceptional.

Review 82:Be aware that the chateau is 5km from Amboise. We didn't have a car, nor phone service and it was hard to get around. We had to ask the staff to call a taxi for us each time we wanted to leave the hotel. We didn't find taxis roaming around the streets in Amboise either, so we had to ask restaurant staff to call taxis for us. We highly recommend renting a car if you want to stay at this chateau.

Review 83:The chateau and its grounds are gorgeous and very secluded. Staff is very attentive.

Review 84:Absolutely gorgeous to look at externally and internally. Rooms were very spacious and clean and tidy. The Staff were very friendly and eager to show us around.

Review 85:Main complaint was the plug in the bathtub not sealing properly so water kept draining out of the tub... not good when looking forward to a nice hot bath. For a more minor detail, absence of bins in kitchen and breakfast room could easily be remedied.

Review 86:The chateau was gorgeous and very well renovated, mix of old and new. Beautiful grounds with fields, trees and a bridge over stream. Peaceful and restorative. Good location for visiting the Loire. Very helpful, friendly and proffessional staff. Comfortable and beautiful room. Nice breakfast for decent cost. Access to kitchen and laundry facilities very handy. We received an upgrade to our room, which was a real treat.

Review 87:Bed spread and blankets needed a washing. Sheets were great tho. And pillows with more substance would've been good too. But I never asked for different pillows, it wouldn't have surprised me if they would've gone out to buy me one. Great place!

Review 88:Very well taken care of! The rooms were beautiful and well maintained. The experience of staying at such a beautiful chateau while I was in the area to SEE chateaus was well worth the money. Our "Cinderella Estate" adventure met all my expectations.

Review 89:A friendly welcome to a extremely well appointed historic chateau. Our room was spacious and the claw foot bath was a grand addition. Snow was falling as we departed the secluded wooded property. A stylish and relaxing weekend break from the city and we will be back.

Review 90:There was nothing we didn't like. Everything about our stay was pleasant and enjoyable, a wonderful experience, just wish it had been longer.

Review 91:The Chateau, grounds and location are beautiful and the town of Amboise is so picturesque. Olivier is a gentleman and very obliging, to help make your stay, as pleasant as possible. Many beautiful chateau's are in the Loire Valley, available for sight seeing.

Review 92:The whole place is great as well as the staff. The rooms are very comfortable and cosy. The breakfast is delicious, the owner very thoughtful and polite and the hotel is just breathtaking.

Review 93:The place has almost no service...Breakfast is very poor. They could do much better...Because the place is beautiful. I would not stay again...To expensive, not worth the price.

Review 94:Hotel is fine. Beautiful place around...It's a castle.

Review 95:Finding hotel is difficult as said on booking.com, read direction explanations carefully do not rely on navigation:)

Review 96:This place gives what is expected from a chateau, with spacious rooms, fire place, decorated very carefully with little details, breakfast and service was great, it was a very unique experiance, we have been to more than 100city around world, and this hotel was one of the best. i totally recommend this hotel to every one

Review 97:Nothing

Review 98:The management was very friendly and nice. The rooms combined a traditional and charming decor with modern comfort. The photos on the website did not do justice to the quality of the rooms. A walk on the courtyard and fields around the chateau in the morning, followed by a hearty breakfast, was enjoyable.

Review 99:Since the hotel does not offer many things to do or has complex facilities (besides the pool) it does not have a great cost-benefit ratio. If it wasn't for the room upgrade, I would be a bit dissapointed.

Review 100:It was our honeymoon and the staff made everything possibe to make our stay the best possible. They gave us an upgrade, champagne, fruits. Olivier, the manager, was also very nice giving directions and general information. The room was nothing but fantastic. The best I have stayed in my life.

Review 101:From the moment we drove up the long drive that ultimately opened up to the beautiful chateau we were charmed. Do not be misled by the photos - they do not do it justice. We booked 2 days before & were so surprised and the quality, beauty & price. We all felt like we could envision living there 200 years ago. Our view of the pasture with the white & brown horses & then the deer running in the morning felt like a beautiful movie set. Our host was lovely, warm, helpful & charming. His guidance to a wonderful local resturant for dinner was spot on. The breakfast in the morning was one of the best. The only drawback was our time was so brief ,we will stay much longer next time.

Review 102:Slow internet wifi, no minibar and no restaurant at the hotel, so no room service!

Review 103:Very large bedrooms with good beds.Bealtiful chateau, very well decorated Staff really helpful, helped us book all the activities. Good breakfast, reasonable price.

Review 104:Nothing at all.

Review 105:Beautifully renovated chateau with spacious and very comfortable rooms. Spotlessly clean and tidy, friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfasts. Delightful grounds available to guests and swimming pool looked inviting for summer-time visits.

Review 106:Beautiful property which could be better kept, but investments required would probably not pay off......nothing to hold against the hotel or the service, which are great.

Review 107:Ambience! Staff! Location! Quiet! Size of rooms. Experience.

Review 108:The only negative thing would be the pillows, which could be more comfortable

Review 109:It is really a wonderful feeling walking into your room for it is decorated exquisitely. It was a wonderful stay

Review 110:no restaurant onsite, fridge for use by visitors - may be available but we failed to ask.

Review 111:Excellent service, large rooms, clean, on site elevator, ample parking, vistas from our room, very relaxing.

Review 112:Amazing accommodation with wonderful facilities. The chateau itself is beautiful and we really enjoyed spending an afternoon sitting by the pool drinking local wine.

Review 113:Leaving

Review 114:Everything, a most stunning property, just like having your own luxurious and superbly appointed Chateau. Great staff, great food, awesome private property.

Review 115:Everything that was there was perfect. We didn't want to leave for evening meals or drinks but had to, an onsite restaurant for lunch and evening meals plus a bar service would be great, but the relaxed atmosphere was wonderful.

Review 116:Minor, maybe change to fluffy pillows.

Review 117:Beautiful chateau and grounds. We stayed in the spacious family room and it was lovely with wonderful views. Oliver was so kind and helpful.

Review 118:WiFi slow or not accepting connections, but remediated on request.

Review 119:Rooms, cleanliness, breakfast, quiet, charming , pool, service. Extremely helpful and welcoming host. Everything. Placed in Amboise, in the middle of Loire valley it is a good place to explore all it's treasures: castles, food, wine, atmosphere. In 1 word: wonderful.

Review 120:Fantastic. Very romantic. The rooms are fabulous, big, with a great view. The swimming pool is warm. There's wine for the guests. The breakfast is very good, but you have to pay for it.

Review 121:The room and bathroom were superb. The facilities allow the guest to be independent. The location was peaceful but ideal for visiting this part of the Loire Valley or just to relax.

Review 122:If you want a Chataeu sleeping experience with reasonable price, this is the place. Absolutely wonderful old chateau with the best and friendliest service. You will find everything here, including washing machine, kitchen to prepare your own meals, though you can have accommodation including breakfast. Location is very convenient to explore different castles nearby. Amboise with its restaurants is only a short drive away. We highly recommend this hotel to everyone; singles, couples, families etc. Loved it!

Review 123:The professionalism has as a downside that the typical local atmosphere which we experienced elsewhere in chateaux and chambres de hotes was less present.

Review 124:Everything was very well organized, clean and ok. Professional staff.

Review 125:The location was fantastic, there was an outdoor terrace where you could sit and enjoy a glass of wine (BYO) and another sitting area down by the pool. The whole place was stunning, I will definitely return when I get the chance.

Review 126:Chateau des Arpentis does not have a bar or restaurant but there are newly installed self service cooking facilities by the poolside which are handy for heating your own pre-prepared food or pizzas. Amboise is just 5mins by car with plenty of restaurants. Pick up a local bottle of wine and enjoy it on the terrace in the evening if you fancy a night cap!

Review 127:Beautifully restored chateau in peaceful surroundings. Very comfortable beds and good sized adjoining rooms for families. Olivier, the general manager provided excellent service and was very welcoming. Having the use of laundry facilities without hotel laundry charges is a big plus!

Review 128:We had a family room and we were in one corner of the hotel. The only thing that was not great was the Wi-Fi coverage

Review 129:We were traveling on vacation he was four of us in the family we had a wonderful time in this hotel. Olivier the manager is very helpful and very efficient. It is a small hotel with only 12 rooms but they make you feel very very comfortable and transported to another era. It is very well located to visit almost all of the Chateaus and if we are to be back in this area we would definitely stay here again

The Fine Print

Please note that extra beds and cribs are not available in double and twin rooms.
