Reviews for Horizon Hotel

Review 1:The colour scheme along the corridor to the bedroom.

Review 2:My wife liked sitting next to the fireplace. The views from the dining area were enjoyed during our meals. The parking on site was a plus.

Review 3:Only problem was couldn't connect properly to the wifi

Review 4:Good value and ideal to have a triple room as we were travelling as a three which is some times more tricky. restaurant down stairs was quiet but food was good.

Review 5:No negatives

Review 6:Food was very good and excellent value for money. We were B&B but also had dinner at the hotel. Room was large and spacious with sea view. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 7:on arrival didn't know airshow was on therefore couldn't get a table for evening meal before 8.30 we had to take elderly mother out to find restaurant but managed to book one for the next night not the staffs fault but if we had known would have booked in advanced.

Review 8:food was very good, staff friendly

Review 9:Because we booked a sea view we were given a room in the attick with a dormer type window and low ceilings the stairs were to much for my wife but the hotel was fully booked so no change of room

Review 10:Location

Review 11:My wife and I stayed for a 2 day break and found this to be a 3* Hotel with excellent service and friendly and efficient staff. The room was clean, fresh and bright and the cooked breakfast was served by really pleasant staff. We would consider a return visit, the whole stay was excellent value.

Review 12:The breakfast was a little poor, my scrambled eggs were too runny, could have done with longer, hash browns also would have been nice for those that do not like beans, black pudding or haggis as no alternatives were offered in there place so my plate was quite empty

Review 13:we stayed at the hotel in july 2015 we were well looked after the place is clean and adequate facilities had nothing to complain about so we recommend the hotel.

Review 14:Overpriced for overall accommodation Dated look In need of a paint and refurb Could be cleaner

Review 15:Location good Food good Friendliness of staff good

Review 16:Not enough car parking spaces for guests. Tired room, dirty shabby bathroom. Took forever to check in. Only seemed to be three staff in the whole place.

Review 17:Staff friendly, comfy bed

Review 18:wasnt told about wifi no welcome pack in room, room not very big ,bathroom very small with poor shower(no pressure) dont think it appears quite as good as photo shown but its ok anyway

Review 19:the hotel has a nice position on the sea front plenty of council car parking, room o,k large tv,decent breakfast, didnt eat here at night but prices look reasonable, nice bar/restaurant area hotel warm and clean good value for money, room quiet.

Review 20:No blind or voile panel at the window . Which was overlooking the car park and beer garden. Nice ground floor room but could have done with a bit more privacy.

Review 21:Friendly staff. Good food Location. Nicely refurbished room.

Review 22:Location of the hotel was right on the seafront, comuteable to Stranraer in the South and Ardrossan in the north with lovely places like Troon and Turnbury between friendly Staff and very well looked after with all modern conveniences

Review 23:I Would definately, recommend the Horizon hotel for its comfort, lovely staff, great food, clean and smart building and decoration, all of the staff are very pleasant and welcoming, and friendly.

Review 24:allocated attic room on arrival.room was spacious clean and comfortable but no view and bit cold.Asked to change. They only had family room available at extra £20 which was fine.Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 25:There was nothing at The Horizon Hotel that would incur a negative revue. On a "Star" rating they would be 5*

Review 26:Warm welcome, easy check-in. bags carried to the room, shown how to operate multi function security card. Staff member closed room curtains and checked that heating was correctly set.

Review 27:Unfortunately the room I reserved was unavailable and the one provided was not one I would have reserved no matter the cost

Review 28:Great staff except for breakfast waitress that never smiled throughout the hour I sat in restaurant...that aside all other staff were fantastic

Review 29:The bedroom windows had black mould. The bed valances were a bit grubby. The en suite was very small.

Review 30:Enjoyed the sea view. Reception, bar, dining room were modern and clean. Breakfast was good. Staff were pleasant.

Review 31:Toilet in room was very small plus the towel rail was close the toilet pan and was red hot all the time. Could lead to a nasty accident? Room really HOT for the whole of our stay.

Review 32:Was there for a wedding. everything went well plus the staff was very helpful. The lift was a great benefit as my partner has problems walking.

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:This is a very appealing hotel with a good balance of modern decor and old fashioned charm. A real 'family feel' with all staff very welcoming and attentive. Restaurant food is excellent and rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely decorated

Review 35:Struggled to get checked out early as no one on reception at 7am and rooms are nice but construction a bit flimsy - could see light under door into corridor and sounded like people were practically walking through your room as they walked down the corridor!

Review 36:Liked the look of the hotel, decent room and facilities with a lovely restaurant and views across to Arran.

Review 37:my cousin and i were booked to go here last sat but she took ill and we didnt get i phoned the hotel they cdnt have been nicer we only lost our deposit as it was the morn of our trip they cd have charged us full price but didnt so a big thank you to the horizon people with hearts but hopefully we will get there at some point

Review 38:Room 3 was very nice and had a walk in shower which suited our needs. It was however a little cold in the afternoon but we were aware that the heating was on a timer

Review 39:the staff were very helpful to myself and my husband who is disabled. It is a very good location, easy to get to the beach and shops.

Review 40:Parking in the hotel courtyard was hard to come by but public parking was available directly opposite the hotel so it wasn't a huge issue. Staff standing smoking below my open window was a bit annoying.

Review 41:I stayed at the Horizon on the Ayr beachfront for three nights in a lovely sunny double bay-windowed room. It was an excellent position, only a short distance from the town centre, and with a wonderful view of the sea and coastline (and islands if not too hazy or foggy!) Staff were, without exception, friendly, patient and helpful. The dining room and meals were great. I dined in each night and fell in love with the lime and blackcurrant cheesecake!

Review 42:Only disappointment was the lumpy bed which made for a restless nights sleep. Need new mattresses.

Review 43:Situated in a wonderful location on the Esplanade and close the gardens and the beach there is easy access to all Ayr's amenities and the town centre. The hotel is comfortable and clean and there is a good choice on the menue and the breakfast is outstanding value. Will definately be back.

Review 44:Advertised wifi unavailable in my room at the bottom end of hotel. This was inconvenient as there was also no 3G signal in room which restricted me as I had specifically booked with wifi. I did mention it but nothing done. Suggest you request an upstairs room.

Review 45:Room comfortable, breakfast very nice. Nice position on beach but walking distance to town centre.

Review 46:Thought £150 per night was too much! No Mirror in bedroom! Toilet/Shower very small! and no room in bedroom for a small table to sit at! Putting the price aside we did like the Room/Hotel and the location and Have booked again in April 2015 because its £80 per night and reckon that is a more realistic price, delighted with that and looking forward to staying again!

Review 47:Room even though it is small it was nice and clean, Good breakfast! Bar and Resturant very nice!

Review 48:Breakfast starts at 0730 and you cannot checkout before 0800 - unless you settle the bill the night before. This is a pain if you need to get away early. I was put in an attic room, which might be OK if you are less than 5ft 6" tall - I had to move around with my head lowered to prevent hitting the roof!

Review 49:The location was good, being on the coast.

Review 50:I think as there was a wedding on while we stayed they need to look at giving the holiday guests I bit more consideration as we are paying guests also.

Review 51:Staff very friendly and helpful.nice atmosphere.food good.

Review 52:Room a little cramped, however will still recommend

Review 53:They accommodated my disability. Excellent location on sea front. Good clean room Excellent breakfast choice cold buffet and the choice of fresh cooked food as well. Staff were helpful, efficient, and friendly. Will recommend

Review 54:Lovely hotel and staff have been to the Horizon a few times breakfast and dinner are both really good we take our dog for an extra £5 a night which is great hope this helps you to decide.

Review 55:Bath towels were too small

Review 56:Everything about the hotel was good. Ate at the restaurant on two occasions and the food was very good considering that I am hard to please when it comes to food. On the 1st night I had sea bass and on 2nd night steak and I cleared my plate on both occasions

Review 57:Room very scruffy and old fashioned, woke up very early with dogs yapping would not return
