Reviews for Anchorage House
Review 1:Nothing really
Review 2:Really enjoyed our stay. Nothing was to much trouble we were teated like family . The breakfast was fantastic did not get round to trying the pool out but looked very nice. Would go back again and stay and would recommend ,made our stay in Cornwall very pleasant .
Review 3:Anchorage House B&B is a gem. Our bedroom was luxurious and extremely spacious. The power shower, double ended bath and the sumptuous bed linen all contributed to a relaxing comfortable experience. A selection of DVDs can be watched in the rooms while enjoying a cup of tea made with real milk - none of those plastic capsules with a best before date somewhere in the far future here! Both Steve and Jane make you feel very welcome. Consult with them before embarking on a journey - their knowledge of the area will enhance your visit. Your choice of cooked breakfast is given to Jane the previous evening and prepared as you enter the bright and cheerful dining room. We used the swimming pool daily before going down to breakfast which also included cereals, fresh fruit, nuts and seeds which really set us up for a busy day of sightseeing. Don't hesitate in booking Anchorage House, you won't regret it. We will be returning so please leave one or two dates free for us.
Review 4:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 5:It was very comfortable. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming, the attention to detail was amazing. We would have no hesitation recommending Anchorage House to our friends
Review 6:N/a
Review 7:The room was spacious and restful. The breakfast was an array of fresh fruits and cereals and was very fulling. The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable of the local area and were helpful at the drop of a hat to assist you.
Review 8:Everything about the stay was superb, Steve and Jane are a lovely couple, who could not do enough. Warm, welcoming, fantastic clean suites, will definitely be visiting again. A hidden gem in cornwall
Review 9:Jane and Steven was excellent hosts. Offering to book taxis or make reservations for dinner. sound proof rooms so there was no noise from other guests or traffic. the king room also had its own private lounge and decking with table and chairs. Beautiful home.
Review 10:Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful hosts who even provided brolly service on the day it rained! Loved that I could take a swim before breakfast, and for that matter, loved the breakfast.
Review 11:I did not like that our stuff was touched and moved and the breakfast was poor, my boyfriends egg was raw and the bacon was like cardboard
Review 12:the room was very pretty and spacious
Review 13:Steve and Jane were so friendly, did everything they could to keep us happy during our stay. Room was fantastic, breakfast was great too! Really good location for exploring this part of Cornwall
Review 14:Absolutely nothing to dislike cannot extol it enough.
Review 15:The luxurious rooms, super breakfasts, swimming pool and hot tub. Add to this the friendly reception by these wonderful hosts was second to none.
Review 16:Would have liked the cold option for breakfast to include cold meat platter. However there was a good choice of cooked options to consider and order on the evening before.
Review 17:Relaxed. Good to have a swim before breakfast, albeit that breakfast finished at 9.30am.... so had to be 'up and on the go' relatively early. Felt like a lovely family home.
Review 18:a very nice couple who do wish your stay with them to be a very pleasant one helpful advice on local dinning and places of interest. We are looking forward to booking with them later this year
Review 19:Only minor negative was a slightly sporadic wifi signal.
Review 20:Fantastic B and B - v luxurious and relaxing. Lovely owners who were extremely helpful and welcoming.
Review 21:The owners, the facilities, and the breakfasts. The swiming pool provided an excellent start to the days. Local information from the owners was very helpfull.
Review 22:Nothing
Review 23:Jane and Steve gave us a really genuine welcome and made huge efforts to make us feel comfortable and at home. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and have everything you want to feel relaxed during your stay. Breakfasts and suppers are beautifully cooked,Five stars from me!
Review 24:I would like all b and b's to do this actually, but the owners go to so much trouble to decorate their rooms that I would like the rooms that are not occupied to be open in the evening or morning so I can see them.
Review 25:The house and room were fabulous. Very comfortable and luxurious. Steve and Jane are naturals for their business. We had no problem with our wi-fi.
Review 26:Having to pre book breakfast Broken shower in the room being repaired late at night whilst wanting to go to bed. Would have prefered delaying the repair man or being moved to another room before work started. Personal belongings being tidied/rearranged.
Review 27:Swimming pool. Quality of the food. Location.
Review 28:Five spiders on the ceiling in the morning. After we came back from the evening meal we've noticed that someone was in the room and the bed was made up. Later read in the welcome book that you not allowed to be in the room between after breakfast and afternoon so the room can be cleaned for you. Quite controlled... Sausages for breakfast good quality however very strong flavour would prefer same but plane. And in main house light carpets so you are asked to take your shoes off (if in mad)couple of people came for breakfast barefoot...
Review 29:Very warm welcome by the owners, with tea, coffee and homemade cake offered. Upgraded our room in the main house for conservatory / bungalow one with no extra cost . Everything just perfect, selection of teas, coffe, satsumas , peanuts, still water and milk in the mini fridge, sky, wifi, alarm clock and lovely toiletries from elemis. Big bath and lovely shower . Delicious brekfast with smoothies, homemade granola , fruit salad, compote. Full English good.Lovely silver theme table set. The owners very helpful, kindly booked the table for us in a nice restaurant, printed the town map, gave directions. Overall very nice stay.
Review 30:Accommodation was immaculately presented and food was of a very high standard. The location is in a prime position for touring and the hosts, Jane and Steve, are are friendly, knowledgeable about the area and cannot do enough to help. Definitely to be recommended.
Review 31:We cant fault our stay at Anchorage House. Steve and Jane were so accommodating with information on where to visit and places to eat. Jane booked us a table at the Waves Restaurant which is a 5 min walk away.(Good value for money) We stayed in the 'Desirable', a room just off from the main house, it was large open plan style room, The bed was so big 3 people could sleep in comfort. We made use of the lap pool, which felt so good after a long hot day visiting . In the Desirable bathroom was a Deluge Shower, was just heavenly, just the right temperature and flow(my wife had to drag me away from it). Would we go back, OH YES!!!!
Review 32:Friendly service and good food. The lovely couple who own the boutique B&B have great knowledge of the local area and were happy to recommened the most amazing restaurants and book dinner reservations for us.
Review 33:Spacious well appointed room Excellent breakfast Great advice over places to visit and where to eat
Review 34:Very helpful hosts; excellent breakfasts; comfortable room; excellent swimming pool.
Review 35:The hospitality of the owners!
Review 36:Great wi fi reception but no internet connection it seems.
Review 37:Hosts, quality of room, facilities, breakfast
Review 38:Luxury bed very good! Nicer than some expensive hotels in cleanness, decor, catering for your individual needs excellant!
Review 39:Lovely couple who run the B&B. It's evident they really enjoy looking after their guests and are happy to go the extra mile for you.
Review 40:Nothing comes to mind
Review 41:All of the facilities are superb and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Review 42:The house and grounds The hosts - Steve and Jane The rooms The breakfast In fact everything about Anchorage House
Review 43:Superb room extremely clean and comfortable lovely breakfasts and brilliant hosts!
Review 44:Beautiful b&b jane and Steve were amazing, beautiful food
Review 45:We stayed in the Desirable Room, which is separate from the main house. The room is modern and spacious, immaculately clean, with the bathroom partially separated. This had a bath and also a large shower. A small patio area was directly outside, where we enjoyed sitting. Adjacent to our room is a chill-out room. The bonus for us though was the swimming pool. It was lovely to have a swim before breakfast, and also on our return in the late afternoon. Finally Jane and Steve are perfect hosts, giving lots of help and advice ie. making restaurant reservations, booking taxis, giving directions, and Jane's breakfast excellent. We will return to this little gem!
Review 46:There was absolutely nothing to dislike!!
Review 47:A superb stay where we were made to feel at home by both Steve and Jane. We were given great advice on local places and booking made for taxis restaurants etc.
Review 48:NOTHING
Review 49:We loved this place! Steve and Jane were so helpful and welcoming - from the tea on arrival to the interest they take in their guests. Our room was very comfortable and had everything you could want. Breakfast is prepared in line with each person's preferences and served in the conservatory.
Review 50:very small bathroom, small room (was the smallest in the house, other rooms may be bigger)
Review 51:Very helpful, very friendly hosts - nice and tidy house, cosy atmosphere
Review 52:The only slightly negative point was that the wi-fi signal didn't quite make it to Desirable, something that Steve has been trying to fix. However, this was mitigated by the fact that the signal was strong in the adjoining 'chill out' room and it does not alter our overall impression and recommendation.
Review 53:This is without question a superb B&B. We stayed 5 nights over Easter in 2014 and were absolutely delighted with it. The owners, Steve and Jane, were very welcoming and, as other reviewers have said, very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. We chose Anchorage House partly because of its location (perfect for The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Helligan) but also because of the reviews we had read and we were not disappointed. Jane prepares an excellent breakfast and Steve is ever ready with helpful suggestions and interesting directions (although guests should be prepared for any route he describes as a 'straight shot' being anything but). We stayed in the room Desirable, which is a stand alone room in the grounds of the house rather than in the house itself. The design of this room is quite modern and 'semi open-plan' (which might not suit some) but we thought it probably the best B&B room we'd ever stayed in. We had access to both the large and comfortable lounge in the main house and also the cosy 'chill out room' attached to Desirable. We would very much like to go back and stay again and possibly try one of the rooms in the house itself. Highly recommended.
Review 54:We were so fortunate to have booked this excellent accommodation throughout our stay in St Austell. Steve and Jane made us feel so welcome at Anchorage House. The rooms are all beautifully decorated and kept spotlessly clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. I was able to take a swim in the morning and evening in the indoor pool. Jane cooked some wonderful breakfasts and our hosts were both very helpful suggesting places to visit. We would thoroughly recommend staying here and hopefully we will be back this way soon and will definitely be staying longer the next time we visit.
Review 55:From the moment we were met at the door by Jane and Steve and offered tea and home-made cake, we knew this was going to be something special. We weren't disappointed. Their house is beautiful and they go out of their way to make your stay exceptional. It certainly was. Our room was charming, luxuriously furnished and extremely comfortable. The location is so tranquil but very convenient for visits to Eden, Heligan, Fowey and St Ives to name but a few. Jane and Steve are quite simply one of the most warm and pleasant couples you could wish to meet and they go out of their way to ensure that you have the very best time. Their local knowledge is fantastic and they are happy to advise on local places of interest, restaurants, directions, parking etc. We spent 4 nights with them but had such a relaxing time it felt like we'd been away for a week. I haven't even mentioned the wonderful swimming pool and fantastic breakfasts. I can't imagine anywhere better to stay and would have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful B&B to anyone. It was an absolute pleasure and we will certainly return.
Review 56:All was perfect, I cannot say anything else.
Review 57:This is the first time that I find a beautyful place extremely clean confortable and nice. Good nights sleeping!! Never happened to me before, in the last 14 years in UK, even in place as Hilton or other wellknown location. I am very pleased to know that this place exists. Wonderful swimming pool, water warm and clean. Also the owners were friendly, open (international )minded and very helpful. Many thanks to them.
Review 58:Liked the rooms, the attention to detail that Jane & Steve took. The breakfast was excellent. The pool was good.
Review 59:We are so impressive about the decoration, which gives us home feeling. Steve and Jane are so friendly, we love them.
